70. Girls Aloud - Long Hot SummerPeaked: #5 in AugustThe highest entry from the girls kicks off the Top 70. It wasn't exactly a long hot summer here, and definately wasn't 95 degrees in the shade! Still a good track though. 69. Mariah Carey - Get Your NumberPeaked: #6 in OctoberMariah had the most unexpected comeback of the year with a massive US #1 hit (still to chart on this countdown) spending 14 weeks atop the HOT 100 and peaking at #2 in the U.K. Mariah joined forces with Jermaine Dupri to create this standout track from the comeback album TEOM. 68. Phantom Planet - CaliforniaPeaked: #13 in AprilYep its that theme tune at #68, this was a slightly reworked version of the original - taken from 2002's "The Guest". 67. The Game f/50 Cent - Hate It Or Love ItPeaked: #8 in MayThis will divide people I'm sure, not a great fan of either Jayceon Taylor (The Game) or Curtis Jackson but this seemed to work for me somehow. Ironically was held off the HOT 100 top spot by 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" (!) 66. Mariah Carey - It's Like ThatPeaked: #7 in AprilThis is another one of 3 from TEOM; "We Belong Together" charts the highest here having peaked at #1 for 1 week in July, but how high is it? 65. Oasis - LylaPeaked: #5 in MayAt first I felt "Lyla" was not the best first single choice and I wasn't looking forward to getting the album, however it grew on me enough to make my Top 5 back in May and lands here at #65 of 2005. One more huge single from them, but where? 64. Gwen Stefani - What You Waiting ForPeaked: #4 in December 2004Suffering from the year end cut off period, Gwen's first solo single bails out at #64, it peaked in 2004 so did very well to get this far. Had it had its full chart run this year it would have easily made the Top 20. 63. Arctic Monkeys - I Bet You Look Good On The DancefloorPeaked: #3 in December"We're Arctic Monkeys, this is I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor. Don't believe the hype" are the opening words to this modern rock classic. But its by no means their best effort and can only lead to further hype surrounding debut album "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" due for release in January 2006... 62. Damien Rice - The Blowers DaughterPeaked: #8 in JanuarySimply a beautiful song, really a shame that it bombed here though. 61. Gwen Stefani - CoolPeaked: #8 in September
