60) "Plush" - Stone Temple PilotsAnd I feel...this is a great song. STP were among the most heavily played bands on rock radio during the 1990s, and it's no wonder why. While their biggest hit was "Interstate Love Song," this gives it a run for its money as their signature song, and for good reason. The breakout hit from the great Core is a feel-good song about a sad story, and will live on for many years to come. 59) "Hysteria" - Def LeppardMost you probably know about my love of power ballads, and this classic Def Leppard track is just another reason why. A perfect autumn song, this is a song that I have loved since discovering it back in 2009. The riffs, gaudy drums, smooth vocals and romantic lyrics combine for one hell of a song that in my mind is one of the best songs of the 1980s. 58) "The Boys Of Summer" - Don Henley/The AtarisI'm including the original and the cover here because I really enjoy both of them. It was The Ataris version that I was a fan of first, but a couple of years ago I came around to Henley's. To me the song takes on a different meaning depending which version I'm listening to: the Henley version is a middle aged or older man looking back on being a young man (perhaps about my age, give or take a few years) and having an unrelenting desire to go back in time to when his life was better. The Ataris version comes across as a young man upset about the end of summer, or possibly a breakup that led to things not being the same. 57) "I'm Real (Murder Remix)" - Jennifer Lopez featuring Ja RuleJ Lo has a lot of songs that I like, but none more than this one. The highest of her three jams on my chart comes in at #57; this controversial chart-topper from 2001 that solidified J Lo's status as an urban superstar (I'm not talking about radio formats here, just to be clear). I absolutely love the production on this track; it's more edgy and 'hood' than the poppy stuff from a couple years before this, but it has a lot more substance than a lot of the stuff you'd hear in 2004. One of the great pop songs of the '00s if you ask me. 56) "Limelight" - RushIs this an '80s-centric set or what? Next up is this track that I had actually forgotten about until recently. I really dig the atmospheric feel of this one, with its legendary guitar work that blows me away every time. Geddy Lee sounds better than ever here and it's hard not to be taken away while listening to this one.

Plush is great. I also enjoy both versions of The Boys Of Summer. I do prefer the original and it's actually only in the last couple of years that I've come around to really liking the Ataris version a lot. Both versions do offer something unique to the song which is cool. I never much liked the I'm Real remix and always preferred the Ain't It Funny one. But my favourite J-Lo thing is All I Have.

That's interesting to me; of all her major hits, "All I Have" is the one I have never gotten into. I never cared for the back-and-forth between her and LL Cool J. I have grown to prefer the original of "The Boys Of Summer" as well, but I still like the the Ataris version enough to include them both.

All 5 songs there are great Stone Temple Pilots were among the greatest alternative rock bands of the 90's and songs like that show why, "Hysteria" is classic, Def Leppard at their best, I like both versions of "Boys of Summer", "I'm Real" really ruled the radio waves back then and "Limelight" is one of Rush's best.

60. I discovered this a lot later compared to their other hits, but it remains one of their best. 59. Classic song, classic album all around from the genius Mutt Lange. 58. A case where both are so good, you put both! 56. Time to be perfectly honest here...I find a lot of Rush songs overrated. This is fine on the radio, but I don't really go out of my way to hear it.

I can actually see where Pipa is coming from because "Tom Sawyer" was always a station-changer for me. And sorry for not posting much this week and not updating this countdown; I was just really busy with work. Now let's get on with the show. 55) "Blood Brothers" - Iron MaidenClocking in at over 7 minutes, this masterpiece is easily my favorite track from Iron Maiden. There is something about it that I have never been able to put my finger on involving the rather unique string instrumentation. The main guitar riff creates an unforgettable sound along with the great vocals and chilling lyrics. To me the meaning has to deal with all people being "blood brothers" because we all have the same blood flowing through our veins. 54) "Save Tonight" - Eagle-Eye CherryFor much of my younger years, this song would have ranked at #1. Alas, it now must settle for the #54 spot. As a kid I always thought he was singing "if you'd like to break a door, come tomorrow." While I don't love it quite as much as I did back then, I still do and enjoy listening to it regularly. 53) "The Unforgiven" - MetallicaWhile I had known "Enter Sandman" since I was a small child, it was discovering this song during high school that really started my interest in Metallica. One of their more lighter and melodic songs, the way I have related to the lyrics has changed over time. When that solo hits, you can't help but feel the pain and angst present in this song. 52) "What It's Like" - EverlastHere's another one that at one point would have ranked up at #1. Everlast has the dubious honor of being perhaps the only two-time one hit wonder in history (as a member of House Of Pain with "Jump Around" and as a solo artist with this). With some truly memorable lyrics, Everlast comes across as a street smart guy who has seen a lot of stuff in his time. The bridge has some of my favorite lyrics ever, including "where it ends usually depends on where you start." 51) "So Far Away" - CrossfadeWhile not nearly as well-known as "Cold" or even "Colors," this stands out as my favorite track from this short-lived '00s rock group. I really like the production here, especially on the vocals, and it's really great to listen to this while thinking about those who have left you behind. I have been big on it since I discovered it back in 2011.

Save Tonight and What It's Like are both amazing. I like The Unforgiven too, and the Crossfade song was alright too.
Tagging @wife for Eagle-Eye Cherry

LOL, Tom Sawyer is one of my favourite Rush songs!
Don't know the Maiden track, but it's Maiden so it's awesome. Yes to the rest.

50) "Tighter & Tighter" - SoundgardenKicking off the second half of my top 100 is the higher of the two placings for Soundgarden. This track off of their 1996 album Down On The Upside was never released as a single, but is my favorite song by the band. With one of the COOLEST guitar riffs I've ever heard present throughout the song, I don't know if any song screams 1996 more than this one. Just great '90s rock that makes me feel like I'm being sent back in time a couple of decades when I listen to it. 49) "Far Behind" - CandleboxNext up is the higher of the two Candlebox placings to make my top 100, their signature song "Far Behind." This one was big on rock radio in 1994 and also crossed over for some Top 40 radio play. In an era largely void of power ballads, Candlebox offered this track which could be enjoyed by grunge fans and '80s rock fans alike. Dealing with the serious theme of a girlfriend committing suicide while also having some classic rock sensibilities, this is certainly one of the more memorable rock songs of the '90s. 48) "Every Morning" - Sugar RayAnother '90s rock song, and another song that at one point would have ranked at #1 much like "Save Tonight" and "What It's Like" from the last set. One of the first songs I ever remember liking, "Every Morning" is good old-fashioned fun. With fun riffs to work with, Mark McGrath sounds great here and it would take a real buzzkill to not like this one at least a little bit. 47) "Two Princes" - Spin DoctorsSpeaking of fun, I don't think it gets much more fun than this chart-topper from 1993. Accompanied by an equally fun video, I've gone through a few phases where I have listened to this song in heavy doses, and there has never been a time that I didn't like it. It makes me want to take a trip back to 1993 and meet that very hot girl sitting in front row during that episode of Monday Night Raw where Shawn Michaels wrestled Marty Jannetty. Just go ahead now... 46) "What's This Life For" - CreedCompleting a set of all '90s rock songs is one of Creed's first hits. A lot of people talk bad about Creed, but their favorite pussy bands could never write a song this great that touched so many people. Written about a friend who committed suicide, it combines powerful lyrics with nice riffs and a poignant piano loop. I always thought it was unique how they talked about settling the "Goddamn score" in the same breath as they are praising God as the "one king." While blasphemous to some people, I think it's great songwriting. I can almost never listen to it without replaying the last minute or so.
