Great to see Sarah McLachlan (loved Surfacing and Afterglow as well!), Red Hot Chili Peppers (agreed that they haven't jumped the shark as of yet) and the Bee Gees (I think it was when "Jive Talkin'" came up on that 1975 AT40 that I reminded you of the "Eek Gees" nickname; ironically it also came up the first time I met Courage when a Bee Gees song came up, he wondered what you called them!) I like some Deep Purple as well, especially their obvious hit. 57... Fuel? 58... Gin Blossoms? 59 HAS to be Duran Duran.

I'm SO glad that the Bee Gees are in this list! They have a 'Walk of Fame' star in our valley mall (as they originally hail('d) from Redcliffe), which is basically this lame local attempt of the Hollywood version, so I put my foot on the Bees Gees plaque quite often Gee, I grew up with lots of divas! I'd probably have to go with Celine also, but I'm surprised she'd be in your all-time favs! It could be Mariah also, which is probably more likely

I'd think Celine is more likely... I'd assume Mariah is top 20 at least. JessieLou loved her as a child and still likes her.

Donna Summer was probably the first artist from the 70's that I really loved. WALK-FM constantly played her. I always loved songs like "Bad Girls", "Dim All The Lights", and the very underrated "Heaven Knows". I remember being so surprised and sad when she died. She was extremely talented. It wasn't easy to pick a favorite song of hers, but this is most likely it: I became a fan of Duran Duran when Bebe Reptar was overplaying them on Variety FM. Just kidding brotha. In all seriousness, I did get into them through Adam playing their hits on VFM, and getting into American Top 40 and the 80's definitely made me like them more. Their music is just fun, catchy, pure pop. Plus, they still make great music today. "All You Need Is Now" was in my 2011 year-end top 10. My favorite song from them, however, has always been this power ballad from 1993: I heard Gin Blossoms on the radio all the time back in the 90's, but I didn't know at the time who sang those songs. I never heard of them until around 2005, but I instantly became a fan - their reunion single "Learning The Hard Way" even went to #1 on my chart in 2006! Some of my favorites from them include "Til I Hear It From You", "Until I Fall Away", "Found Out About You", and my favorite... I actually wasn't very familiar with Fuel in the late 90's-early 2000's. I became a fan around 2006. They didn't have A LOT of hits, but the ones they did have were excellent. I LOVED "Sunburn", "Bittersweet", "Hemmorage", "Bad Day", "Falls On Me", and my favorite... Celine Dion, for years, was in my all-time top two. She was a HUGE favorite of mine when I first began getting into music. I remember being completely blown away when I first heard "My Heart Will Go On" on the radio when it was out. I always sang along to it. Still, to this day, one of my all-time favorite songs. COMING UP:
51. Heavy metal icon turned reality star. 52. An early 90's rock band who only released TWO albums. And they almost made the top 50. Let that sink in. 53. A 90's rock band who doesn't care about black people. 54. A heavy metal band who once covered a Linda Ronstadt song (although Linda's version was a cover too, but meh). 55. A man who wears more eyeliner than I do!

Ooooo yay Celine!! She'd probably be at the Top of my list if I did one of these Lip-Sync belting her out with my headphones in my walkman whilst in bed late at night... oh the childhood memories! 55 is either Adam Lambert or Boy George

Nirvana is another one who won't be on here for awhile. David Bowie, surprisingly, missed the list.

You guys probably think that I got into Alice Cooper through Eddie Trunk or American Top 40 – but actually, it was Sam I Am who introduced me to my first Alice song. Sam was doing a broadcast on Variety FM, I believe it was the same broadcast where I had the displeasure of listening to “Doop” by Doop, and at one point in the show he played Alice’s 1989 hit “Poison” – I absolutely loved it. Of course though, I was introduced to even more of his music when I became a hard rock/heavy metal fan in 2008. I love that he has these crazy stage antics such as the heavy makeup and killing himself on stage, and yet if you see him in interviews he seems like the most normal guy ever. Some other songs of his that I really love include “Brutal Planet”, “Welcome To My Nightmare”, “No More Mr. Nice Guy”, and “I’m Eighteen”, but “Poison” is still my favorite to this day. I always knew “Jump”, but didn’t know who sang it until years later. However, I began getting into Van Halen around 2006-2007 when I was listening to American Top 40: The 80’s. Their music is just straight up hard rock and I love it. It’s too bad they all hate each other because there was actually some good stuff on their last album (yes, I’m still pretending that “Tattoo” never happened). Usually whenever heavy metal artists cover pop songs I find it incredibly obnoxious and almost like a parody (like all those damn screamo bands who feel the need to cover Britney Spears and Katy Perry’s entire discographies), but their cover of Linda Ronstadt’s “You’re No Good” from their 1979 album Van Halen II is badass! I definitely feel like they made it their own. In fact, I kind of wish Linda at least ONCE performed the song in Van Halen’s style. That would’ve been soooo good omg. But anyway back to Van Halen. I tend to prefer their earlier material from the late 70’s to their 80’s stuff, so my favorite song from them would most likely be “Runnin’ With The Devil”, but I’ll also post their Linda cover since I mentioned it! My memory is a little foggy, but if I remember correctly, I was first introduced to Bush back in 2005 through my Launch (now Yahoo Music) station. Their music would play on there quite a bit because I rated similar artists very high (this was around the time I got into a lot of 90’s alternative). I quickly became a big fan (especially after hearing “Swallowed” – what an awesome song!), and my Dad even gave me his copy of Sixteen Stone that he bought back in the day. They have a lot of great songs, including “Little Things”, “Comedown”, and “Everything Zen”, but my favorite is… I am going to get soooo much shit for putting them on this list, especially this high, but I don’t care. I like Styx. I like Night Ranger. I like Ted Nugent although he is quite the nutjob. But what I like even more than all three of those combined is this extremely underrated early 90’s supergroup consisting of Ted as well as Styx’s Tommy Shaw and Night Ranger’s Jack Blades. And some dude from Lynyrd Skynrd but I don’t like them. Their debut album is SOOO good! The follow-up, Don’t Tread, is great too. And of course there’s “High Enough” which is one of my all-time favorite songs!! I really wish they stayed together and released more material. Some other favorites of mine from them include “Come Again”, “Bad Reputation”, and “Don’t Tread On Me”. In conclusion, Damn Yankees were the bomb. The end. Like many other people from my generation, I had no idea who Ozzy was until The Osbournes became a phenomenon. I remember in the summer of 2002, you couldn't get away from them! That show was HUGE. I didn't really start getting into his music until around 2007 after I began getting into Lita, since of course he did a duet with her – “Close My Eyes Forever”. I actually prefer his solo stuff to his material with Black Sabbath. He has a lot of great songs - obviously my favorite is “Close My Eyes Forever” – but I had a hard time picking my favorite non-Lita song of his. I thought about choosing “No More Tears” or “Dreamer”, but in the end, I had to go with this one from 1986: COMING UP:
46. A girl group who sang the theme song to the 90’s Nickelodeon show All That. 47. A band whose lead singer JUST released a new single. 48. This British group is one of the most successful acts on my chart. 49. Lots of people like to eat this with pizza. 50. A British heavy metal band whose frontman is also a pilot!

Lots of good artists there Alice Cooper may have had strange stage antics but his music is really good (I'm surprised at how many ballads he's had considering I associate him most with hard rock!), Van Halen is one of the greatest rock bands ever (regardless of who sings - I like songs with both Dave and Sammy), Bush is one of my favourite 90's alternative rock bands (especially the "Sixteen Stone" era, and their recent stuff is good too), Damn Yankees may not have lasted long but are greater than the sum of their parts and Ozzy is one of the best metal musicians ever, both solo and with Black Sabbath. 48... Girls Aloud? 50... Iron Maiden?
