I LOVED 98 Degrees when I was a kid!! After the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC, they were my favorite boy band. I believe I was first introduced to them with "True To Your Heart", their collaboration with Stevie Wonder from the Mulan soundtrack. But I also remember that my Mom bought me the "Because Of You" single on cassette for my 6th birthday - and I still have it! In fact, that's probably my favorite song from them. Here's yet another 80's artist who I've been familiar with from the very beginning due to radio airplay when I lived in New York. For those who don't know, the primary radio station that I listened to growing up was WALK 97.5 in Long Island, which at the time was an AC station (it's now a Hot AC station and has gone downhill). They played a lot of newer music but I mostly got my new music from VH1 and MTV - WALK 97.5 is where I was introduced to a lot of 70's and 80's music and I believe it is a major reason why I am into so much of that music today. They played Bryan Adams quite a bit. I always really liked his voice and that he was able to do both rockers like "Summer Of '69" and ballads like "Heaven"... and disco songs where his voice is sped-up like "Let Me Take You Dancing". Even though I generally prefer his rockers, this 1991 classic is actually my favorite from him. I don't care what anyone says - I always loved Huey Lewis & The News! Their music is very upbeat and happy and sooo 80's! I was also introduced to them through WALK but like Bryan Adams, grew to like them even more years later when I started listening to Casey Kasem's American Top 40. Although they've had several top 10 hits such as "The Power Of Love" and "I Want A New Drug", my favorite song from them is actually one of their lesser-known hits, from 1984: Although The Offspring were extremely popular around the time I began getting into music, the only song of theirs that I knew back then was "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)", which was played all the time on MTV back when it was out. I didn't start getting into their music more until about 2005 when I started checking out more rock music. Some friends of mine actually went to see them last month (I would've went but it was very last minute and I had to work that day), and I was told that it was pretty crazy. I love a lot of their earlier stuff like "Why Don't You Get A Job?", "The Kids Aren't Alright", and their hilarious cover of that awful "Feelings" by Morris Albert, and even some of their recent stuff is pretty good like "Can't Repeat". However, my favorite song from them is still the first one I heard: Whitney was one of the first artists I became a fan of when I was a kid. Although I didn't love her as much as some of the other divas such as Mariah Carey, Madonna, and Celine Dion, I still enjoyed her very much. She, without a doubt, had one of the greatest voices in music and was incredibly talented. I know she had a lot of demons later on in her life, but I will still incredibly shocked on that night of February 11, 2012, when my brother told me he got a notification from his Associated Press app that reported Whitney Houston had died. I didn't think it was true because nobody else was reporting about it, but about half an hour later it was everywhere. It's really sad that she left us so soon, but she left us with a great discography of music, including this song from 1999 which has always been a huge favorite of mine: COMING UP:
81. One of the few rock bands I could think of that actually broke up on good terms. 82. A female rocker missing the top 80?! 83. 90's pop/rock singer who in recent years has experimented with country music. 84. This is bullshit! Nobody cares! These guys are from England and WHO GIVES A SHIT?! 85. Considering that this artist has sampled artists such as Carly Simon and America, I'd say she's a 70's whore too!

All great artists there, especially Bryan Adams and Whitney Houston 83... Sheryl Crow? 84 has to be U2. 85 is Janet Jackson. I know for sure 81 is NOT Oasis, I'm sure they're much higher and they broke up on awful terms.

I was first introduced to Janet Jackson in early 1998 when I was only five years old. WALK-FM played her latest single at the time, “Together Again”, and I was instantly hooked. I was actually a BIG fan of hers when I was younger. In fact, if this list were compiled like 15 years earlier, she’d most likely be top 10-20. The last song of hers I loved though was the P. Diddy remix of “Son Of A Gun” from 2001, which, coincidentally, sampled “You’re So Vain” by future core JessieLou artist Carly Simon (who is still to come but not for awhile). Janet has a lot of great songs, but my favorite from her is probably “Go Deep” from her album The Velvet Rope. Such a fun pop song! If Casey Kasem compiled this list, something tells me U2 wouldn’t have made it. I first heard about U2 when their song “The Sweetest Thing” was out back in 1998 – VH1 played the video sometimes. However, I didn’t really become familiar with them until their early 2000’s comeback with “Beautiful Day” and “Walk On” – both VH1 and MTV played those videos constantly. They were one of the first rock groups that I considered myself a fan of. Even though I did like those two songs very much, the song from their All That You Can’t Leave Behind album that I REALLY loved was the third single, which was also featured on the soundtrack to the movie Tomb Raider – “Elevation”. In fact, even though I didn’t start compiling a personal chart on a regular basis until late 2002, I found not that long ago one top 10 chart that I made from June 2001 with that song at #1. It’s still my favorite song from them and it’s SO underrated. Sheryl Crow is another artist whose videos I used to watch on VH1 on a regular basis. I thought she was such a cool rock chick – “If It Makes You Happy” and “All I Wanna Do” were particularly big favorites of mine. Like Janet, she would have been much higher had I compiled this back in, like, 1998, as I’m not crazy about her recent material (the last song from her that I really liked was “Always On Your Side” from 2006), but I still enjoy her 90’s tunes. My favorite song from her though would DEFINITELY be “My Favorite Mistake” – I remember seeing VH1 premiere it for the first time and being blown away. Still a huge favorite of mine to this day. Before I started listening to Casey Kasem’s American Top 40 in 2006, the only Joan Jett song that I knew was “I Love Rock & Roll”, which VH1 used to play once in awhile, and I loved it. I used to think she was a one hit wonder until, again, I started listening to Casey. I’ve discovered a lot of great songs from her since such as “Do You Wanna Touch Me” and “I Hate Myself For Loving You”, and of course there’s the fact that she was in The Runaways with future MAJOR core JessieLou artist Lita Ford, but my favorite song from her would be this underrated gem from 1988: Come on, who doesn’t love “Losing My Religion”? My Mom doesn’t touch 90’s rock music with a ten-foot pole and even she loves that song. I’ve always been familiar with that song (which is actually only my second favorite from them!), but I didn’t really check out more of their discography until around 2005-2006. Some other songs from them that I love include “Man On The Moon”, “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It”, and my favorite from them, “What’s The Frequency, Kenneth?” COMING UP:
76. This group is widely considered the greatest and most successful band of all-time, so it might be a bit controversial that they are only #76 on here, but before you send me an angry PM , remember that this is a list of favorite artists, not "greatest" or "most influential". 77. A progressive rock band from Seattle whose former lead singer, in recent years, has turned into a nutjob. 78. Speaking of nutjobs, two words: Tawny Kitaen. 79. This heavy metal band from Germany announced their retirement in 2010, only to release a new album two years later. As a result, I called them the "lying Germans". 80. An 80's heavy metal band who was notorious for their raunchy concert shows, which included the band throwing raw meat into the audience and lying half-naked models on a torture rack. OMG that sounds sooo f*cked up I don't condone that I swear I just like the music

I know a lot of people on here were not crazy about my heavy metal phase from 2008-2011, but I can’t pretend it didn't exist, plus I was introduced to some really great bands during that time, including this one, although they may be a bit of a controversial choice. I can’t remember exactly how I was first introduced to W.A.S.P., but I remember I really wanted to check them out because I read that Lita Ford was married to their former guitarist Chris Holmes from 1990-1991. Not only were they linked to Lita, but they were also linked to Grace, because in 1995, they covered “Somebody To Love”! Although their stage shows from the 80’s were a little too vile for my liking, their debut single, “Animal (f*ck Like A Beast)” was HILARIOUS (and catchy). They were just sooo over-the-top, possibly even more-so than Motley Crue, which I didn’t think was possible. Even though I do love their signature songs like “Animal” as well as “I Wanna Be Somebody” and the bizarrely titled “Blind In Texas”, my favorite song from them is this epic eight-minute track from their 1993 concept album, The Crimson Idol, called “The Idol”. The first Scorpions song I ever heard was “Wind Of Change”, which, for some reason, I could never get into. I didn’t start getting into them until one night in 2006, I heard “Rock You Like A Hurricane” on the radio, and I LOVED it. When I started getting into hard rock and heavy metal, I was introduced to more of their songs such as “Still Loving You”, “Make It Real”, and my favorite from them, “The Zoo”. They also had one of my biggest hits of 2010 with “Raised On Rock”, and will be forever known as the lying Germans to me for retiring and then releasing a new album two years later. Like 98% of people in America, I was first introduced to Whitesnake with "Here I Go Again", which is a great song (and I love that album), but not one of my favorites from them. I started getting into their music more also around the time I began getting into metal. David Coverdale is an extremely talented frontman and is still great to this day ("Love Will Set You Free" was one of my favorite songs from 2011). There are two songs in particular from them that I really love - "Still Of The Night", which is SO heavy and badass and AWESOME, and my favorite song from them, which is also one of my all-time favorites - "Is This Love", which I actually first heard on AT40. One of the greatest ballads ever in my book. I used to love this band soooo much. I always thought their big hit, "Silent Lucidity", was just okay. It was everything else on that album that I loved lol. Their singer, Geoff Tate, used to be such a powerful vocalist (and not to mention pretty hot) in his day, and Operation: Mindcrime is one of my favorite albums of the 80's. I don't know what went wrong along the way. In 2011, they released Dedicated To Chaos, one of the worst albums ever, and he turned into a bald guyliner-wearing nutjob. But again, enough with the negativity, let's look back on the good 'ol days when Queensryche were the bomb! Oh, and "Eyes Of A Stranger" is my favorite from them. Yes, I know, "How could the greatest band of all-time be only #76?". Yes, I know, "How could you rank the Spice Girls and the Backstreet Boys higher than The Beatles? How dare you!". I get it. You see, this is why I specifically titled this JessieLou's FAVORITE artists of all-time. Not greatest, not most influential, but FAVORITE. All of this is based on my personal opinion. I think The Beatles are a great group, I even own a Beatles coffee mug , but I'd be lying if I said they were even close to my #1 (Paul and John are coming up later though as solo artists). I always liked them, but I didn't really start appreciating them until about last year when I started getting into 60's/70's music. Plus, even if you don't like them, you cannot deny the MAJOR impact they have had on the music industry. Some of my favorites from them include "Can't Buy Me Love", "Let It Be", "Magical Mystery Tour", and my favorite - "While My Guitar Gently Weeps". COMING UP:
71. An R&B singer who was once covered by… Weezer? 72. One of the most famous rock bands of the 90’s, their frontman still gets hits as a solo artist to this day. 73. Gary Numan was probably very fond of this band. 74. This artist was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame earlier this year. 75. According to Casey Kasem, this rock band once all bumped into each other at the same hotel, AND have eaten pizza in front of their fans in the middle of a concert.
