Thanks for the comments guys, here's this week's chart commentary:
In anticipation of Rihanna's fourth studio album, Rated R, Russian Roulette leaps to number one from number three. Rihanna is no stranger to the number one spot, reaching it ten times in a total of four and a half years (roughly). Her chart positions are as follows:
-Pon De Replay - #2 (Aug 2005)
-If It's Lovin' That You Want - #4 (Nov 2005)
-Let Me - #8 (Jan 2006)
-There's A Thug In My Life - #1 (Feb 2006)
-SOS - #1 (Jun 2006) Number 4 Single of 2006
-Unfaithful - #1 (Aug 2006) Number 9 Single of 2006
-We Ride - #2 (Dec 2006)
-Break It Off - #9 (Dec 2006)
-Umbrella - #1 (Jun 2007) Number 3 Single of 2007
-Shut Up And Drive - #2 (Sep 2007)
-Hate That I Love You - #1 (Nov 2007)
-Don't Stop The Music - #1 (Dec 2007)
-Breaking Dishes - #2 (Dec 2007)
-Take A Bow - #1 (Apr 2008)
-If I Never See Your Face Again - #19 (Jun 2008)
-Disturbia - #1 (Jul 2008)
-Good Girl Gone Bad - #1 (Sep 2008)
-Rehab - #5 (Dec 2008)
-Hatin' On The Club - #2 (Apr 2009)
Rihanna is the latest artist to join the list of singers/bands that have had 10 or more number ones on my personal charts since they started. The only others are Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson. Rihanna also makes a jump this week with "Wait Your Turn" which jumps from 34 to 15 in it's second week in the chart.
The higest debut this week goes to Don't Stop Believin' by the Cast of Glee. The show has just begun screening in New Zealand (where I'm from) so you can probably look forward to plenty more Glee entries over the next few weeks. Another song from Glee, "Rehab", also enters the chart 45.
Other debuts onto the chart include Kelly Clarkson, Timbaland, 50 cent and Green Day. Last week's number one single "Happy" falls to number four this week, ending Leona's two week run. Her album "Echo" is due out in stores this week ... I haven't tossed up whether I'll but it or wait until the second single comes out ...
This weeks biggest jump goes to Chris Brown's "I Can Transform Ya". Chris Brown's comeback single from his forthcoming album is unlikely to match the success of his previous singles. He has had three top five singles (Forever, With You and No Air), and despite the huge jump, is most likely to fall quickly in coming weeks.
The biggest drop of the week goes to Amy Winehouse's "To Know Him Is To Love Him", which drops from number 61 to number 93 this week. Despite not being an official single, the song made a massive leap two weeks back, but has quickly fallen down the chart. I think it is time for a new Amy album
Her "Back to Black" was my favourite album of 2007, most of the original tracks of the album have featured on my chart, with Rehab and Back to Black both getting to number one.
I think that's enough for this week ... will see if Rihanna manages to hold the top spot next week!
