23. Marshmello featuring Jonas Brothers LEAVE BEFORE YOU LOVE ME (Yes, yes, OH YES!) You're may be too young to know what this reference even means, but you just reminded me of the diner scene with Meg Ryan in When Harry Met Sally. I didn't know a song could make someone feel that way.

20. Jazmine Sullivan PICK UP YOUR FEELINGS
I've been a fan of this Soul singer/songwriter since her debut in the late 2000s. It had been a few years since I'd heard any new music from her, so "Pick Up Your Feelings" was a delight for me...despite the fact that it was one of those "kick you to the curb" songs. It spent one week of it's 27 weeks in my Top 50 in 2020, but reached its peak of #3 (which it held for two weeks) in April this year.
19. The Weeknd TAKE MY BREATH
After the After Hours album promotion period ended, "Take My Breath" was the first new song The Weeknd released. And while it reminded me (only a little) of "Blinding Lights," it was nice nonetheless to hear new material from someone who has quickly become one of my favorites. I can't wait to see what more new songs he has in store. "Take My Breath" is still on my Top 50, falling downward after clocking in three weeks a couple months ago.
18. Justin Bieber ANYONE
"Anyone" made its debut on my Top 50 during the second week of 2021 and ended up hanging around until practically July for an impressive 25 weeks. Not too shabby for the song that ended up being the uptempo companion to "Lonely," which you saw earlier on the year end list. Also not too shabby is the two weeks it spent at #1 as winter turned into spring.
17. Miley Cyrus HEART OF GLASS
Over the entirety of her career, Miley Cyrus has made a habit out of covering hit songs, for better or worse. "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun," "Happy Xmas (War Is Over)," "Jolene," "Zombie," "Nothing Else Matters," and "Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds" are just a few that she's done. But perhaps my favorite was her cover of Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" performed live at the iHeart Music Festival in 2020. Miley's version debuted on my chart in mid-January of this year and during it's 26 weeks on the chart, it rose as high as #3, where it camped-out for two weeks.
16. Billie Eilish THEREFORE I AM
While still keeping on brand for the sort of song we might expect to hear from Billie Eilish, "Therefore I Am" sounded a little different than most of the songs she'd released up until then. The song had been on my Top 50 for a few weeks in late 2020, but eventually climbed to #2 for a three-week stay in March.

15. H.E.R. DAMAGE"Damage" was one of two songs that conspired to keep the aforementioned "Therefore I Am" out of he #1 spot. This smoldering song by Soul singer/songwriter, H.E.R., was a big favorite of mine in the early part of this year...and late last year too. Unfortunately, it spent a few weeks on the Top 50 in late 2020, cutting down on its point total on this year end list. What a cool way to build around a sample of "Making Love In The Rain," the 1987 single by Jazz legend, Herb Alpert (with Lisa Keith and Janet Jackson handling vocals). By the way, even though only one of the weeks it was at #1 blocked Billie Eilish from the top, "Damage" held #1 for two weeks. 14. Doja Cat & The Weeknd YOU RIGHTApparently, "You Right" had been hotly anticipated before the singles from Doja Cat's latest album even got released once word leaked on the internet that she and The Weeknd had gone into the studio to work on something together. The end product was definitely worth waiting for, in my humble opinion. Although it's still on my weekly personal chart in its 24th week, it was in the #1 spot for four of those weeks. Incidentally, "You Right" is the final song on this year end list that is still on my Top 50 as of the last chart of 2021. 13. Joel Corry & David Guetta featuring Raye BEDI first heard this cool collaboration between EDM DJ/producers, Joel Corry and David Guetta, when it was played on my favorite radio station in the spring. It was one of those songs that I loved from the very first listen and I loved it for a big chunk of the year. It was on my chart for 28 weeks and spent two weeks at its peak of #2. 12. Maroon 5 featuring Megan Thee Stallion BEAUTIFUL MISTAKESAlthough it seems like Maroon 5 has always had a single out at all times over the first 15 years or so of their popularity, the past couple years - or maybe a little more than a couple years - have seen the band releasing less new music. However, "Beautiful Mistakes" was released earlier this year and immediately caught my attention. It held the #2 spot on my chart for three weeks on its way to a total of 28 weeks in my Top 50. 11. Regard featuring Troye Sivan & Tate McRaeProving he's more than just the "Ride It" guy, Regard had another hit on his hands over the summer in 2021. "You," a vocal duet between Troye Sivan and Tate McRae, was perfect for the warm weather months in the Northern Hemisphere. It was ALSO on my chart for 28 weeks, two of which were spent in its peak position of #2. Hooray! We're at the Top 10! Coming up, you'll see entries by Lil' Nas X, Doja Cat, Justin Bieber, Saweetie, and perhaps a couple of surprise entries. "Surprise" in the sense that they weren't Mainstream Pop singles. We're almost to #1!

I'll give props to the entire 20-11 section with the exception of "Bed" simply cause I can't remember how this one sounded. But especially love for Take My Breath, Anyone and Therefore I Am

I'll give props to the entire 20-11 section with the exception of "Bed" simply cause I can't remember how this one sounded. But especially love for Take My Breath, Anyone and Therefore I Am I feel like I should probably point out the obvious without intending to be condescending. I did embed videos for each of the songs, so you COULD click on the video clip to listen to "Bed," if you were so inclined.

10. Ariana Grande P.O.V.Let's face it. Human beings are mean. Most of us just are. We're jerks. We're judgemental. Some of us even revel in the pain of others if only to be distracted from the hot mess our own lives are. But there is absolutely no one that we're meaner to most of the time than ourselves. We're hard on ourselves. We don't always give ourselves the credit that we deserve. And we certainly don't always see the good in ourselves and the beauty in ourselves the way that other do...unless we happen to be narcissistic. But that's a story for another time. At any rate, for me, "P.O.V." captures the essence of what would make those of us who are hard on ourselves see us in a different light. If only we could see ourselves through the eyes of those who love and care about us. *sigh* Over the summer, it rode the wave of love and tenderness all the way to a two-week stay in the #2 spot during a 29-week engagement in my Top 50. 9. The Weeknd SAVE YOUR TEARSThis heartbreaking breakup song was a favorite of mine in the early part of the year. Actually, it was also a favorite of mine in late 2020 too, which means it spent a few weeks of its time on my chart in that calendar year (it's the last song on the year end list that did have its entire chart run in 2021). That said, it lingered in the Top 50 through June and held the #1 spot for two weeks. Incidentally, it's the other song that helped "Damage" by H.E.R. keep "Therefore I Am" by Billie Eilish out of the top spot on my Top 50, just in case you were wondering. 8. Saweetie featuring Doja Cat BEST FRIENDMost of us say we have a friend, but what we really have is a frenemy. We call them a friend, but we talk trash about them when they're out of the room. We might even gossip about them with others. When the chips are down and they need us, we don't have their back...and vice versa. But I really dug this anthem about true friends. That person that is your ride or die. You think they're all that AND a bag of chips and they feel the same way about you. Not only do you have each others back, but even if you think each other is in the wrong, you're there to support each other. That's what best friends do, after all. "Best Friend" was #1 for three weeks and was on my Top 50 chart for a total of 27 weeks. 7. Tank CAN'T LET IT SHOWI liked this smooth R&B song by Tank. It was a nice way to weave in a sample of Kate Bush's "This Woman's Work" (popularized again in the late 90s by way of an MTV Unplugged performance cover by Maxwell). "Can't Let It Show" ran for a mind-blowing 31 weeks on my chart and spent two non-consecutive weeks in its peak position of #6. 6. Lil' Nas X MONTERO (CALL ME BY YOUR NAME)Even though he'd released a few other songs since his record-breaking single, "Old Town Road," some may have still thought of Lil' Nas X as a novelty...a flash in the pan artist who certainly wouldn't have another hit, much less a lasting career. The release of "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" might go a long way toward proving some of those people wrong. Although, as 3LW said in their early 2000s single, "Playas Gon' Play," "haters are going to hate," so Lil' Nas X will probably always have his detractors. But, I liked the song anyway. It was on my personal chart for 28 weeks and had a two-week peak of #2. As an added bit of trivia, "Montero (Call Me By Your Name)" is the highest-ranking song on Jason's Top 150 Songs of 2021 to not have spent any time in the #1 spot on my weekly personal chart. So, now you have something handy to amaze a friend with if you're ever locked in an intense useless trivia battle. You're welcome. All that's left to reveal is the Top 5 on my list. I don't think I'm going to reveal the names of any of the artists who are in the Top 10. Except, I'll say this: one of the acts is someone who you haven't seen in any capacity during the reveal of 150-6. And one artist appears twice in the Top 5. Once as the artist of record and another as a featured artist. More to come soon!

5. Kali Uchis TELEPATIA
Although she's been recording and releasing music since 2014, I first heard Washington, D.C. suburban native, Kali Uchis, in 2016 on the minor R&B hit by Daniel Caesar, "Get You," and was impressed by her voice. Although it wasn't the biggest commercial hit on English language industry charts in 2021, I ended up falling in love with "Telepatía." It spent one week at #1 near the end of summer and lasted in the Top 50 for a total of 29 weeks.
4. Givēon HEARTBREAK ANNIVERSARY
Although television and movies would have us believe someone can move on from a breakup in the span of one or two episodes or in a matter of half an hour of movie time, in real life it isn't as easy for humans to put heartbreak behind us. Yes. Just as there are people who want to celebrate the anniversary of their first kiss, their first date, and the first time they sneezed in front of their significan't other, there are those who end up taking note year after year of the anniversary of when their heart got broken...whether they want to or not. If you're one of those people, "Heartbreak Anniversary" is the song for you. I liked this song a lot. Over the summer, it spent one week at #1 in the midst of an incredible 32-week stint on my personal chart.
3. Silk Sonic LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN
The first time I heard "Leave The Door Open," I was hooked immediately, but I was also surprised and worried. I was surprised because I hadn't heard that the project - a collaboration between Bruno Mars and Anderson .Paak - was even in the works. And I was worried because, after further research, I learned the project would be rooted in 70s Soul and Funk. For me personally, it was great news. That period of time and those two genres are two of my favorites. But, because "Leave The Door Open" - and by extension, the other songs that were likely going to be on the album - was so different from anything else happening musically in the Pop and R&B genres at the time, I was worried the project would bomb and what that might mean for Mars' and .Paak's solo careers going forward. Luckily, Silk Sonic has been a success so far. And regardless of what might have happened with it commercially, I was fairly certain "Leave The Door Open" was going to do well on my chart. Of course, it lived up to that expectation. It was a presence on my chart for 32 weeks and held the #1 spot for five weeks!
Holy crap! 32 weeks on the chart and five weeks at #1 and "Leave The Door Open" is only at #3?! That's crazy! What does that mean for the songs at #2 and #1? You'll find out soon enough. The reveal of my Top 2 songs of 2021 is coming soon!
