I'm wishing I was there to help smoke it out LMAO Favorite song: Zombie (1994) Favorite album: Everybody Else Is Doing It, So Why Can’t We? (1993) Can I just say, even though “Zombie” is my favorite song from The Cranberries and one of my all-time favorites, that the song “Promises” is INCREDIBLY underrated?? Anyway, the Cranberries frontwoman is another one of my favorite voices. She has the type of voice that you just easily recognize. NOBODY sounds like her, and I like that a lot. In 2007, she released an AMAZING solo album called Are You Listening?, and a lot of the songs on that album were huge #1 hits on my chart – the song “Ordinary Day” was my #1 song of 2007 and the song “When We Were Young” was my #2 of 2007. As much as I love her solo stuff though, I’m glad she is back with The Cranberries.

Wow, I'm surprised Dolores isn't higher! Still, great to see her top 10 ;D Easily one of the greatest Irish musicians ever, love the Cranberries in general and her first solo album stuff was great too. ;D

Favorite song: Raspberry Swirl (1998) Favorite album: From The Choirgirl Hotel (1998) A lot of you are probably aware of how HAAARD I stanned for her back in 2005. I still love her to this day although the majority of the material she has released after 2005 has been disappointing in my opinion. But here’s what you DON’T know – I originally hated her! Not something I like to admit but meh. Back in 2002, the song, “A Sorta Fairytale”, was on the VH1 Countdown and I thought the video where her head was on the skateboard was creepy as hell, and because of that I wrote her off. I did the same thing with Peter Gabriel back in the 90’s because that video “Sledgehammer” scared the shit out of me. But then in 2004 a certain ARI SAFARI got me into her other stuff and I grew to love her! She’s another one who was once a HUGE star on my chart – one week in May 2005, she had my entire top three and it annoyed a lot of people. She also had my #1 song of 2005 with “Sleeps With Butterflies” BY FAR – it ended the year with a little over 1,000 points, whereas the #2 song, “Incomplete” by the Backstreet Boys, ended the year with a little over 600. Sadly I do not have high hopes for her next album but I hope she proves me wrong, but THANK GOD it’s not gonna be a classical album! Seriously, who the hell says this – “Hmmm, I’m totally in the mood for classical music, so I’m going to listen to Tori Amos!” Listening to Tori was my way of being an angry kid rebelling, because she was so weird and different from my previous favorites including Madonna and Britney Spears. She is NOT the type of artist I want classical music from!! If I want classical music, which I never do anyway, I will listen to Mozart or something. But yeah, YAY 90’S TORI! ;D “Raspberry Swirl” is my favorite but I also really enjoy “Spark”, “Crucify”, “Caught A Lite Sneeze”, the remix of “Jackie’s Strength”, “Cornflake Girl”, and “Strange Little Girl” among others.

For some reason, I expected Tori higher. Still, her 90's and some of her 00's stuff was generally quite good.

Ohhh Dolores and Tori! Great choices! ;D ;D ;D Laughing at head off that the 'Sledgehammer' video scared the crap out of you Dolores definitely has an awesome unique singing voice, but in a good way, but... I must say, I always found Tori's style very strange. "Professional Widow" would not leave the top of the charts here and the whole time I was like, "WHO is buying this!?!? High people?!" Then again, looking at Tori, I always assumed she was high as a kite and that she should separate the botox-injections away from her lips at least once.

Favorite song: White Rabbit (1967) [Jefferson Airplane] Favorite album: Earth (1978) [Jefferson Starship] GGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCCCCCEEEEEEEEEEEEE. The first lady of rock and roll, and my new love My earliest memory of Grace though actually dates back to when I was living in New York! WALK 97.5, the hot AC station there, played “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” all the time and I remember really loving that song and the female singer’s voice (I didn’t know who she was at the time ). I even sang along to only HER parts. Sorry Mickey Thomas. What’s very interesting about Grace is that back in 2007, after my obsessions with Pat Benatar, Heart, and Lita Ford – THREE different people here on M4B predicted that Grace would be next! Sebastian said in a post in The Lighter Side, “I think Grace Slick is next”, Mike B./Max said in an MSN conversation, “I’m surprised Jess isn’t into Starship” or something along those lines, and on MSN John referred to Starship as “future obsessions.” I even recently found two posts of mine where I said it wasn’t going to happen.
11. Starship – It's Not Over (‘Til It's Over) (14) – for some reason, some people on here think that Grace Slick is going to be my next Pat/Heart/Lita. Why I don't know, but lemme tell you brothas something. I LOOOVE this song. Its just a fun, catchy pop song, I love it. My 3rd favorite song on the chart and my 2nd favorite song from them just behind No Way Out.
36. Starship – It's Not Over (‘Til It's Over) – NO!!! I LOVE this song! Huge loss *waits for everyone to say Grace Slick will be the new Pat/Heart/Lita *
So yeah, ISN’T IT IRONIC, DONTCHA THINK?? I know it’s very…sudden. But here is basically what happened. I’ve been playing SongPop on Facebook with some people on here (if you want to challenge me, my username is jessielou910! ;D ). I had enough coins to purchase a new playlist, and the second I saw there was a new playlist called “Female Rockers”, I got that ASAP. Of course, because that playlist SCREAMED JessieLou, I challenged everyone and their Mom to that category, and a lot of the time when I did, the Jefferson Airplane song, “White Rabbit”, came on a lot. I’ve always liked that song, but the only time I ever really listened to it was in the beginning of the year when I ring in the new year by playing all my MP3’s from A-Z by song (a tradition I’ve had since 2009). Hearing that song on SongPop made me in the mood to listen to it, so I played it on Spotify, and as I was listening to it I was just really falling in love with her voice. I started getting curious to check out her other material, as aside from “White Rabbit”, the only other songs I was really familiar with were “Somebody To Love”, “No Way Out”, and the Starship hits. I kept falling in love with SONG after SONG and I couldn’t stop listening to her and her voice. One track I really got into was a song from Starship’s 1985 album, Knee Deep In The Hoopla called “Rock Myself To Sleep” (with backing vocals from the late Kevin DuBrow from Quiet Riot!), and even though she isn’t the lead vocalist on this song, another track I couldn’t and still can’t stop listening to is Jefferson Starship’s #3 (but should’ve been #1!) hit from 1975, “Miracles”… or as someone from another message board I came across called it, “that 20 minute ‘If Only You Believe’ song”. But yeah, at this point I would definitely put Grace Slick in Pat Benatar/Heart territory… Lita Ford territory, not so much, because the only person in Lita Ford territory is Lita Ford. I just love her voice SO much and her music has definitely helped me cope with all the crap that’s been going on with me within the past month. My new flawless queen!

No real surprise Grace Slick ended up so high... I really like a lot of her stuff, from Jefferson Airplane to Jefferson Starship to Starship, so good to see her top 10 ;D

...I, of course.... am predicting Macy Gray for the top spot Dammit, how did you figure it out? Favorite song: I Think I’m Paranoid (1998) Favorite album: Garbage (1995) LOVE THIS GIRL!!! SO fierce! I actually did like Garbage back in the day because of “Special” and “When I Grow Up”, but I didn’t really start getting into them until 2005 and they quickly became one of my favorites. Aside from those two as well as “Paranoid”, other favorites include “Only Happy When It Rains”, “Stupid Girl”, “#1 Crush”, “Push It”, “Why Do You Love Me”, “Blood For Poppies” (my #3 song of 2012!), “Control”, and their new single, a cover of Patti Smith’s “Because The Night”.
