Week 72 – July 14 ^th, 2012

The right answer to my #1 song of the week has been given by Jason Mraz some years ago with “I’m yours”. So “Say you’re mine” by Kate Voegele is still at #1. At the runner’s up position is Carrie Underwood. Her song “Good girl” continues her good run. Another week is passing by for Alanis Morissette. Although she had a concert in Vienna this week she is staying at #3 with “Guardian” followed by “Burning the harbor” the second track by Kate Voegele in my Top 10. The Top 5 is completed by former #1 song “Khoids Wossa”. Therefore Krautschädl is still the most successful Austrian band on my chart in 2012. At the bottom of the Top 10 two new songs are in. With “Primadonna” Marina And The Diamondas climbed up two to #9. At #10 Kelly Clarkson’s sixth song from her album “Stronger” can be found. So with “You love me” she set a new record on my chart. I have to say goodbye to “Silenced by the night” by Keane (#12) and “Stay awhile” by Ryan Star (#18).

All in all between the spots 11 to 20 there is a lot of action including a lot of new songs. It’s a little bit of a renewal while “Summer paradise” is knocking heavily on the door to my Top 10. And two older songs are at #19 & #20. To mention is her “Little talks” by Of Monsters and Men. Their song peaked at #9 but in its 17th week this song is still within the Top 20. Climbing up my chart into this section are Suzie McNeil with her catchy song “Tough love” (#15), Stooshe with their retro song “Black heart” (#16) and Dragonette with “Let it go” (#17). Between these songs the highest new entry can be found. It’s Pink. The last time she charted was with “F**kin’ perfect” last year, because “Bridge of light” from the Soundtrack of Happy Feet Two failed to chart. “Blow me (one last kiss)” stormed in at #13 although I thought first that this song isn’t so good. But after a few times listening to this song I started to really like it.

And there is one more high new entry. Do you remember “Fireflies”? This song was a big hit for Owl City. Despite to the fact that Owl City released several singles after this monster hit, none of them got as big as “Fireflies”. With “Good times” – cooperation with new star Carly Rae Jepsen – Owl City has a good chance to get an international hit. For me “Good time” starts its charting run at #21. This week I have two greatest gainers of the week. Let’s start with Delta Goodrem. “Sitting on top of the world” climbed 16 spots to #72. The other song is “Wir sind wie wir sind” by Austrian group Lucky Strikes Back at #38.

Between the rest of my new entries there are some interesting acts. I’m starting with Menowin Fröhlich. He was a participant of Deutschland sucht den Superstar (DSDS or German Idol). First he took part in 2005, but he failed to reach the final shows because he got arrested for bodily harm and fraud. In 2009 he finished DSDS as runner up. After this show he had little success, but in 2011 he got arrested for a second time after the suspended sentence was abolished. In 2012 he is trying to focus more on music with his first album “White Chocolate” and his single “Round’n’Round” which debuts at #52.

Then the new single by Tamar Kaprelian gets a solid start. “California” from her “California EP” debuts at #79. I have mentioned Carly Rae Jepsen with Owl City as the highest new entry of my chart, but she has one more new song on my chart. “Curiosity” debuts at #69. The other new entries are “My kind of love” by Emeli Sandé (#74), “She’s so mean” by Matchbox Twenty (#78), “Consequence of you” by Hanne Sørvaag (#80), “Keep your eyes open” by Needtobreathe (#81), “Beautiful imperfections” by Mattanja Joy Bradley (#85), “Celebrate” by Whitney Houston & Jordin Sparks (#94) and “Live forever” Jannik Vittrup & Jeremy Carr (#95)

Week 73 – July 21^st, 2012

It’s a little bit unbelievable. Kate Voegele’s hit song “Say you’re mine” is holding the top position for the third week in a row. And so Alanis Morissette’s hit “Guardian” is going to be left out in the cold for one more week. The chance for being next week’s number one is nominal, because Pink is running up the chart very fast. Last week “Blow me (one last kiss)” debuts at #13. This week she dashed forward and peaked at #2. Losing three spots this week is “Good girl” by Carrie Underwood which is now at #5. Kelly Clarkson uses the momentum and climbed up two spots to #8 with “You love me”. Only one more song is new within the Top 10. Suzie McNeal’s “Tough love” at #10 is replacing Marina and The Diamonds with “Primadonna”. Also out of the Top 10 is “Paper doll” by Stef Lang.

Outside the Top 10 Stooshe, Lana Del Rey and Owl City with Carly Rae Jepsen are fighting for a chance to be in there next week. New concurrence is coming from the new entries. As last week there are two big debuts. First to mention is Austria’s neighbour country Slovakia. In 2011 the Czech-Slovika Superstar (based on American Idol) occurred. Celeste Buckingham was part of this show and reached the second finale stage. Since this time she released one album and five singles. Her fifth single “Run Run Run” is a huge airplay hit in Slovakia (at the moment at #2) and in the Czech Republic. With this single she reached for the first time my chart and debuts directly at #19. The other top debut comes from UK band Noisettes. Their new single “Winner” debuts at #21 and is available for free download at their Facebook page. This week’s greatest gainer is “Beautiful imperfections” by Mattanja Joy Bradley at #43.

Having a big impact on my chart is C½ur de Pirate. Two more songs of her sophomore album “Blonde” are giving their debut. At #61 it’s “Ava” and at #63 it’s “Loin d’ici” (Far from here). Giving a comeback after four years is Willy Denzey. With his latest single “L’homme qu’il te faut” (The man that you need) is his first charting hit at #85. The other new entries come are Ladyhawke with “Sunday drive” (#82), Lita Ford with “Living like a runaway” (#86), The Offspring with “Cruising California (bumpin’ in my trunk) (#90), Britt Nicole with “All this time” (#92), Edens Edge with “Too good to be true” (#94), The View with “How long” (#97) and Lloyd Cele with “Hero” (#99).

Last week Pink pushed forward to #2 with her smash hit “Blow me (one last kiss)”. I believe everybody saw her as this week’s #1. But things never turn out the way you expect. So Pink didn’t take the last step to #1, because this week can see the biggest climb into the top position since “Second chance” by Peter, Bjorn & John climbed 16-1 last year. This year’s sensation is Slovakian Celeste Buckingham. With her catchy song “Run Run Run” she climbed 19-1 (the new record) into the top position and preventing Pink for reaching her first #1 while Kate Voegele dropped to #3 with “Say you’re mine”. Her other song in the Top 10 “Burning the harbour” also dropped to #9. “Guardian” is for the sixth week within the best five songs, but dropping to #4. Beside Celeste Buckingham one other act is storming into the Top 10. It’s the British act Noisettes. Their freebie “Winner” climbed 21-8 in its second week. Slipping out of this part of my chart are Joe Bonamassa with “Driving towards the daylight” and after only one week “Tough love” by Suzie McNeil.

The highest new entry comes from the German band Die Ärzte (The Doctors) with “M&F” which stands for “Männer und Frauen” (Men and women). This song reached the Austrian charts several weeks ago, but during my holidays I heard this song so often on the radio that I started to like this song. And here it is at #31. “M&F” has a good chance to reach the Top 10 within the next weeks. Two more songs got their chart debut based on radio airplay. Both times it’s a song with Rihanna. Her highest new entry is “Where have you been” at ##67. The other new entry is the collaboration with Coldplay at #89. The greatest gainer of the week comes from France. Willy Denzey climbed 85-61 with his comeback single “L’homme qu’il te faut”.

This week you can find 13 new entries. Three of them I have mentioned before. But there are some more interesting new entries. Let’s start with the comeback of No Doubt. I loved their song “Don’t speak”. For me this is their best song ever! With “Settle down” they give a solid comeback at #87. I doubt that they will reach #1, but a good chart run should be possible. Then there is the debut of GuGabriel an Austrian act. Lead singer and founder of this act is Gudrun Liemberger who was part of the Austrian rock band SheSays. They were famous for their song “Rosegardens” which peaked at #2 in Austria. With the non-album single “Salvation” (#59) she released a song which reminds me to the debut album of SheSays I enjoyed very much. The other debuts are from Emma with “Senza averti mai” (Without you ever, #43), Amelia Lily with “You bring me joy” (#63), Michael Vatter with “It is alright” (#72), Emma with “Non sono solo te” (Not only are you, #73), Karmin with “Brokenhearted” (#78), Shawn Hook with “So close” (#90), Tone Damli & Eric Saade with “Imagine” (#91) and Rasmus Thude with “Gider dig ikke mer’” (Bother you no more, #97).

Week 75 – August 4^th, 2012

”Run Run Run” stormed into the top position last week. This week Celeste Buckingham could hold this position. In a very close match Pink had to stay for one more week at #2 with “Blow me (one last kiss)”. Back at the podium is Alanis Morissette. “Guardian” is now finishing its 7th week in the Top 5 without reaching #1. The Top 5 is completed by former #1’s “Say you’re mine” and “Good girl”. Celebrating a comeback within the top songs of my chart is “Tough love”. Suzie McNeil returned to #8 after dropping out last week. A long run into the Top 10 ended now for Lana Del Rey. “Summertime sadness” climbed to a new peak in its 10th week and is now at #9. These two songs are replacing “Burning the harbour” which has been at #4 two weeks ago and Austrian band Krautschädl with “Khoids Wossa” which is now at #11.

Outside the Top 10 as always a lot of songs are competing for reaching this part of my chart. The best outlook has “Good time” by Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen. For Carly Rae Jepsen this song could be her 2nd Top 10 hit this year, following her super smash hit “Call me maybe". Since several weeks Stooshe are trying to take this last step. But “Black heart” seems to stick at #14 a position they hold for the third week in a row. Outstanding German band Die Ärzte rose 31-15 in their 2nd week with “M&F”. Directly behind this week’s highest new entry can be found. Brandon Flowers is back with his band The Killers. Last year he had a #1 hit with “Jilted lover and broken hearts”. Their new song “Runaways” debuts at #16. Amelia Lily, a former X-Factor candidate in the UK, has this week’s greatest gainer of the week with her first charting song “You bring me Joy” at #34.

In total there are 12 new entries. Anouk is reaching the Top 100 with “Better off alone” at #43. It’s her 10th chart hit and it is the last track from her album “To get her together”. Also debuting for one more time is Caro Emerald with “You don’t love me” at #91. A notable debut are giving Good Old War with their 2nd single out of their album “Come back as rain”. The ballad “Amazing eyes” gives its debut at #55. Other new entries are “4 gewinnt” (4 wins) by Julian Le Play (#74), “Love actually” by Cady Groves (#77), “Heart of me” by Green River Ordinance (#88), “Radio summer” by Trans Atlantic Crush (#89), “Glorious” by Morten Hampenberg feat. Jesper Nohrstedt (#90), “Already gone” by BYentl (#94), “Killer” by Fazer (#98) and “I can be” by Ida (#99).

Week 76 – August 11^th, 2012

It’s over now for Celest Buckinghum. “Run Run Run” lost this week’s top position by dropping down to #3. But Pink failed to reach this spot for one more week. With “Blow me (one last kiss)” she is at #2 for the fourth week. Finally Alanis Morissette climbed to #1 with “Guardian”. Kate Voegele and Carrie Underwood are holding their position within the Top 5. Next week they could have problems to be in there, because Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen had a between sprint to #6 with “Good time”. And there is one more new song in the Top 10. The German act Die Ärzte have now their first Top 10 hit with Austrian airplay hit “M&F”. Dropping out are Emma with “Cercavo amore” and Lana Del Rey with “Summertime sadness”. Especially Emma has the chance to return next week. Not with “Cercavo amore”, but with her latest hit song “Senza averti mai”.

Last week’s highest new entry “Runaways” by The Killers are still at #16. Also holding the spot for another week are Stooshe. If the ever go forward? I don’t know. There aren’t a lot of new songs between the spots 11 and 20. One I have mentioned before. It’s “Senza averti mai” by Emma. This song climbed 28-17. The other song is “Pull me under” by Matt Cardle which peaked at #19. The Wonder Girls from South Korea had two charting hits before in the lower region. This week they have support by US star Akon. Week 77 – August 18^th, 2012

The waiting came to an end when Pink took the last step with her recent smash hit. “Blow me (one last kiss)” is her first #1 hit after “F**kin’ perfect” and “Raise your glass” only peaked within the Top 10. Falling from the top position is Alanis Morissette with “Guardian”. In the meanwhile Celeste Buckingham returned to #2. In her 13th week within the Top 5 Carrie Underwood climbed up one to #4. She is now tying the record for staying in the Top 5 with Anouk – “What have you done”, Adele – Turning tables and 77 Bombay Street. All these songs ended up in the year-end Top 5 of 2011. Maybe this is also possible for Carrie Underwood. Not far behind is Kate Voegele. “Say you’re mine” slipped to #5 in its 11th week in the Top 5. Ready to replace these two songs are “Good time” and “Winner” which hold the spots. The only new song within the Top 10 is “Senza averti mai”. It is Emma’s 4th Top 10 hit.

Between the spots 11 and 20 there is in opposite to the Top 10 a lot of action. The Austrian newcomer band Lucky Strikes Back climbed 23-14 with their youth anthem “Wir sind wer wir sind”. And they are ready for their first Top 10 hit. During the last week’s I always mentioned Stooshe with “Black heart”. After holding #14 for several weeks they fall down to #18. This circumstance is owed by two new entries. Both acts are from England and for both it’s their first chart hit. The highest new entry comes from British girl band Parade. For promotional reasons the released their first song from their upcoming album for free download. “Light me up” debuts at #16. Sam Gray’s “This girl” debuts at #17. I haven’t seen it coming that Canadian Kristina Maria climbed with her latest song “Animal” 64 spots up to #30. It’s the first song of her which is reaching this part of my chart.

Altogether there are 11 new entries. Two of them start their chart run within the Top 20, but there are two more songs which are debuting within the Top 50. At #34 you can find “Sunday afternoon”. It is the first release of Austrian Coshiva within four years and her second chart hit in Austria after “Butterfly”. And Carrie Underwood’s second single "Blown away" finally reached my chart at #45. The other new entries are “Plenty of love” by Mic Donet (#71), “Fires” by Ronan Keating (#78), “Taking over me” by Lawson (#92), “Sleep alone” by Two Door Cinema Club (#94), “The celestials” by The Smashing Pumpkins (#98), “Let me love you (until you learn to love yourself)” by Ne-Yo (#99) and “Marionette” by Antonia (#100).

Week 78 – August 25^th, 2012

The podium of the chart changed a little bit this week. At the top there is nothing new. Pink is holding the #1 for the second week with “Blow me (one last kiss)”. Storming to #2 is Emma. “Senza averti mai” is her latest hit song which climbed 8-2. Therefor Celeste Buckingham dropped to #3. Leaving the Top 5 after 13 weeks by dropping to #6 is Carrie Underwood’s “Good girl”. Alanis Morissette also dropped. “Guardian” fall from #3 to #7. So the way in the Top 5 was free for Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen. “Good time” is now at #4. The only new song in the Top 10 of the chart comes from Austrian newcomers Lucky Strikes Back. Their youth hymne “Wir sind wie wir sind” climbed 14-10.

Outside the Top 10 a lot of fresh new songs are waiting for the chance to get in there. At the moment the best opportunity has Parade with “Light me up” at #11. Definitely a look worth is Anouk. “Better off alone” is climbing up the chart and can be found now at #16. But there are many songs which could do it within the next weeks. Doing well is Ronan Keating’s comeback song. In its second week “Fires” is the greatest gainer of the week by climbing 24 spots to #54. This week’s highest new entry comes from Kate Voegele. While “Say you’re mine” is still in the Top 5 she placed two new songs in the Top 40. At #33 “Sunshine in my sky” and at #34 “Impatient girl” gave their debut. The only other Top 50 debut comes from Greece. Claydee places the fresh summer song “Mamacita buena” at #44. Also debuting are Nickelback. “Trying not to love you” (#61) has the chance to follow on the way of their last Top 10 hits “When we stand together” and “Lullaby”.

Week 79 – September 01^st, 2012

For the first time in the 79 week history of my chart a new song is debuting at the top. And as a I remember there hasn’t been a #1 debut in my first charting era. So it is a huge sensation. The group who did this #1 comes from Barbados. It’s Cover Drive with England rapper Dappy. For both artists it’s their first song placing on my chart. Their song “Explode” is now exploding on my chart and hopefully it should have a lot of staying power. The loser of this debut is Pink. First “Blow me (one last kiss)” only sprinted to #2 and in the next week Celeste Buckingham – now at #4 – sprinted to #1 and stayed there for two weeks. So Pink only stayed two weeks at the top. While Alanis Morissette’s “Guardian” benefits from the album release by climbing up to #6 other former # 1’s “Say you’re mine” (#7) and “Good girl” (#8) are falling. Lucky Strike Back lost its Top 10 spot after only one week.

Knocking hard at the Top 10 is Parade with “Light me up”. For a second week they are staying at #11. But they aren’t the only act which are hoping to get in there. Several songs like “Like money” or “Runaways” are on their way and it is only a matter of time when these songs manage to do it. The second best new entry, and most of the time this song would have been the highest new entry, comes from Taylor Swift. Her first US #1 hit gives her a strong debut at #27 with “We are never ever getting back together”. I really like the spoken part in the middle which made me think that this could her first Top 10 hit on my chart. A little longer on my chart is No Doubt. “Settle down” gained the greatest gainer of the week by climbing up 18 spots in its 6th week. And there is one song which is celebrating a comeback. It’s Matchbox Twenty with “She’s so mean”. After a short break of two weeks this song comes back at a new peak at #47. It is also their first chart hit in Austria.

Another notable debut comes from Korean rapper PSY. His song “Gangam style” is starting to dominate the charts worldwide. And it could be the first K-Pop song which is noticed by nearly everyone in the world. Here it debuts at #68 but it is only the second best of three Korean debuts. The best comes from the girl group 2ne1 with “I love you”. The rest of the new entries are Angel with “Wonderful” (#56), Elle King with “Playing for keeps" (#74), Lucky Uke with “What about love" (#87), Esthero with “Never gonna let you go” (#88), Jang Woo Young with “Sexy lady” (#90), ATB feat. Ramona Nerra with “Never give up” (#93) and Jasmine Villegas with “Didn’t mean it” (#96).

Week 80 – September 08^th, 2012

Last week’s sensation Cover Drive feat. Dappy is holding the #1 spot for the second week. “Explode” stops “Senza averti mai” by Emma which is returning to #2. The shining days are nearly over for Pink. “Blow me (one last kiss) is continuing the drop by falling to #3. Maybe for the last time climbing in the Top 5 are Owl City & Carly Rae Jepsen. For this week “Good time” is at #4. Taylor Swift is going to have a big worldwide smash hit. In my chart “We are never ever getting back together” climbed up 22 spots to gain her first Top 10 hit. And it is directly a Top 5 hit by landing at #5. Beside this smash hit two other songs made it into the Top 10. At #7 it is “Like money” by Wonder Girls feat. Akon. The Wonder Girls are the first South Korean act reaching this part since last autumn Kim Bo Kyung peaked at #10 with “Hurt” for a single week. Unlike that time it isn’t a song in Korean, but a song in English. The next new addition to the Top 10 comes from UK girl band Parade. Their freeby “Light me up” improved from #11 to #8. All new acts have something in common. It’s their first Top 10 hit.

All the new songs in the Top 10 lead to the fact to “Good girl” Carrie Underwood and Kate Voegele’s “Say you’re mine” had to leave after 16 respectively 14 weeks. While Carrie Underwood’s second song in my chart holding the spot at #24 for a second week, two other songs from Kate Voegele are climbing up. “Sunshine in the sky” reached #20 while “Impatient girl” missed the Top 20 by one spot. The Korean song at the moment is “Gangam style”. Within the next week’s this song must reach the Austrian Top 40, but on my chart it is only the third best Korean song. Most notably is this week’s greatest gainer. South Korean girl group 2ne1 jumped to #27 after debuting at #67 last week. The highest debut comes from German Mic Donet. Shortly after debuting his second single “Plenty of love” (#38) I bought his debut English album of the same title. Out of this album “Pray 4 rain” is debuting at #37. His second debut is “Half a man” at #81.

Beside the debuts of Mic Donet you can find a lot of new acts from countries I haven’t charted before. Let’s start with Taiwanese C-Pop superstar Jolin Tsai. The Chinese song “The great artist” debuts at #55 and is the first single out of her 12th album “Muse”. At #74 the first song from Vietnam begins its chart run. It is the English dance track “Feel the life” by Thao Trang. And this isn’t the last Asian track which is debuting. The next one comes from Chinese Wanting respectively Wanting Qu. Currently she is living in Canada where she released her debut album “Everything in the world” in English. “Drenched” is her first single and debuts at #93. The last new nation is Jordan. Ayah Marar is debuting as featured act with Austrian act Camo & Krooked at #100 with “Cross the line”. The other debuts are “Todo no fue suficiente” (Everything wasn’t enough) by Ha*Ash (#65), “Tanzen im Regen” (Dance in the rain) by Glasperlenspiel (#80), “Freundschaft” (Friendship) by Glasperlenspiel (#86), “Low on air” by 77 Bombay Street (#88), “Take a little ride” by Jason Aldrean (#89), “So stupid” by The Sweet Escape (#95), “Water” by Sushy (#96) and the Missy Higgins cover “Where I stood” by Caroline County (#99).

Week 81 – September 15^th, 2012

The Top 3 is holding steady which means that Cover Drive feat. Dappy with “Explode” are leading the pack for a third week. Behind these three songs there is a lot of action this week. Taylor Swift is climbing up with her severance song “We are never ever getting back together”. The Korean US cooperation “Like money” continues the strong performance by entering the Top 5 at #5. Two acts are new in the Top 10. Relatively unknown Chris Wallace scores his first Top 10 hit with “Remember when (push rewind)”. This song is definitely a highlight especially the lyrics. Also from the US are The Killers. Lead singer Brandon Flowers had a #1 song last year with “Jilted lovers and broken hearts”. The lead single for their new album “Runaways” finally reaches after several struggling weeks in the Top 20 the top spots of the chart and is peaking at #10.

The higher regions of the chart haven’t seen such action. Sure Adelitas Way did well by climbing up 27 spots to #27 with “Alive”, but the greatest gainer of the week is another act. It’s Italian singer Sushy with her dance song “Water” which can be found at #67. The only new entry within the Top 50 comes from US singer Anuhea. Her catchy tune “Higher than the clouds” gives her a very strong debut at #28. The next best new entry comes from Japanese rock band Superfly. The ballad “Kagayaku Tsuki no Yoni” (Like the shining moon) debuts directly behind three former #1’s at #58. German super group Xavas – Xavier Naidoo and Kool Savas – released several singles over the last weeks from their debut album “Gespaltene Persönlichkeit” (Split personality). Only the first “Schau nicht mehr zurück” (Don’t look back) made a chart debut at #80.

The rest of the debuts comes from Coco Jones & Tyler James Williams with “Me and you (#81), Belinda with “El en amor hay que perdonar” (In love we must forgive, #83), Lonsdale Boys Club with “Ready to go” (#87), Vicky Red with “Love you” (#88), Neeraj Shridhar & Kavita Seth with “Tumhi Ho Bandhu” (You’re my friend, #89), Fabiënne Bergmans with “Feelings” (#90), Saint Etienne with “Tonight” (#94), Haley Ray with “Bigger than us” (#95), Tibor Kocsis with “Lásd a csodát” (See the miracle, #96), Scarlet Fade with “Fix the pieces” (#100).
