Week 34 – October 22^nd, 2011

It’s no surprise that Anouk stays on the top for another week. This time she is at #1 with “Ms. Crazy”. Her second #1 song on my chart “Save me” dropped” from the top position after only one week. “Ms. Crazy” could do it for one more week, but “Mr. Know it all” by Kelly Clarkson isn’t far away. I believe that this song could end the seven weeks at #1 run by Anouk. Last week’s greatest surprise top 10 hit “All about tonight” by Pixie Lott dropped to #12 and left the top 10. Also out of the top 10 is “That man” by Caro Emerald. Now at #14. Two artists made it into the top 10 for the first time in my chart. Both songs aren’t in English. “Wir sind am Leben” (#9) is by the German band Rosenstolz. It’s a typical song by this band which I like such as most of the other singles released over the past years. The other song is by Zaz. Her hit “Je veux” has a refreshing and easygoing sound combined with a very good text. The combination of these arguments leads “Je veux” to my top 10. There it could be a top 5 smash hit over the next weeks. Not far behind the top 10 is another song without English lyrics. It’s the rock pop song “Aura” by Simonetta Spiri (#11). Climbing up in the top 20 are “Every time you go” at #16 and “Disaster” at #17. Not to forget Suzie McNeil with “Merry go round” who reached and peaked at #20 this week. This week’s highest new entry comes from Kate Voegele. Her latest hit song “Heart in chains” peaked at #8 and is still at #54 in its 20th week. “Sandcastles” is her second chart hit and entered at #29. It could be her second top 10 hit, but time will show. “Sandcastles” is this week’s only new entry inside the top 50. Next best new entry comes from Swedish dance pop singer Agnes with first single “Don’t go breaking my heart” from the upcoming album at #65. Shooting up 20 spots to # 47 is the Austrian band Tyler with “The future”. Not doing well this week is Natasha Bedingfield. “Jet lag” dropped out of my chart and “Pocketful of sunshine” is the loser of the week by dropping down 19 spots to #66. This week there could be found 12 new entries. I have mentioned Kate Voegele and Agnes. We Are the In Crowed entered at #76 with “Rumor mill” which is the first single from their new album “Best intentions”. Aqua, a band known for their 1990s hits “Barbie girl” and “Doctor Jones” (I’m really sure that both songs went to #1 when I first made my personal chart) entered for the first time with “Playmate to Jesus” at #89. Other new entries come from Mikroboy with “Wann bleibst du endlich” (#78) Di-rect with “The chase” (#90), Gloria Trevi with “Vestida da azúcar” (#91), the German dance project R.I.O. with a singer from London in cooperation with the R&B singer Alex “U-Jean” Houston from the U-Jean Soultime Band with her hit “Turn this club around” (#94), Gypsy & The Cat with “Jona Vark (#96), Reik with “Peligro” (#99) and Roxette with “Speak to me (#100).

Week 35 – October 29^th, 2011

Seven weeks in a row Anouk could hold the top position of my chart with three different songs. This week this run ended by Kelly Clarkson. “Mr. Know it all” reached #1 in its eight week. But Anouk is still in the top two. “Ms. Crazy” only dropped one to #2. So I still have a Mr. and Ms. chart at the top two position for the second week. New in the top three is Jack’s Mannequin. After some weeks in the bottom of the top 10 “My racing thoughts” now peaked at #3 after rising up 4 spots. The top 5 is completed by two more songs of Anouk. Directly behind is Zaz with her breakthrough “Je veux”. I’m sure she will reach the top 5 next week and then there is everything possible for this song. Maybe it could be the first French #1 on my chart. The entire top 10 has been mixed this week. No song could hold his position. Two songs left this section on my chart. “Gravity” by Katie Cole dropped to #11 after five weeks in the top 10 and “Wir sind am Leben” by Rosenstolz only spent one week in the top 10 before dropping to #12. For the first time in top 10 ten are Simonetta Spiri with “Aura” at #9 and BOY with “Little numbers” at #10. Last week’s highest new entry “Sandcastles” is doing well in its second week by climbing up 12 spots to #17. The Canadian band Hedley took the most steps forword by climbing up 17 places to #47 while Natasha Bedingfield’s “Pocketful of sunshine” had another bad week by slipping down 22 spots to # 88. Daughtry entered my chart for the first time. “Crawling back to you” debuted at #34 and is this week’s highest new entry. It’s also the first charting success for most of the other debuts this week. Due to their success in Austria Olly Murs feat. Rizzle Kicks debuted at #76 with “Heart skips a beat”. Surprisingly a hit here in Austria is “Brenna tuat’s guat” (similar: “It’s burning good”) by the well know artist Hubert von Goisern. He had only one big charting hit with “Koa hiatamadl” (similar: “No cowgirl”) which reached #2 in 1992 and he had an airplay hit also in 1992 with “Heast as nit” (similar: “Didn’t you hear it”). In the suction of the success of the social-critical song “Brenna tuat’s guat” this airplay hit charted for the first time in 2011. “Brenna tuat’s guat” need some time and so this song debuted three weeks after reaching #1 in Austria at #98. Other new entries are by Anouk with “Any younger” (#50), Caro Emerald with “Back it up” (#77), Adele with “One and only” (#78), Joss Stone with “Karma” (#89), Glasperlenspiel with “Echt” (#90), Laura Pausini with “Benvenuto” (#94) and Tim Bendzko with “Wenn Worte meine Sprache wären (#95).

Week 36 – November 5^th, 2011

Breaking news: Adele slipped out of my Top 10 for the first time I re-started charting. After a 35 week run the last of four Adele hits “I’ll be waiting” dropped down to #12 in its 16th week. This isn’t the only song going out of the Top 10, but more at a subsequent date. Nothing is new at the top spot. Kelly Clarkson holds #1 with “Mr. Know it all” for the second week. She is followed by Jack’s Mannequin with “My racing thoughts”. After a good start it took them a while to get to #2, but now they are a big contender for the next weeks #1. Within the top 5 there are still two songs by Anouk and new is “Je veux” by Zaz at #4. Beside “I’ll be waiting” “This time” by Pia Toscano had to leave the Top 10 after eight weeks. Now at #11. JoJo entered the Top 10 for the first time with “Disaster” at #8. Also for the first time in the Top 10 are 3 Doors Down. “Every time you go” climbed up 3 spots to #10. The Danish band The Storm reached in its 6th week the Top 20. Their song “Lost in the fire” climbed up 8 spots to #20. In the Top 20 you can find two more new songs. The country song “Beautiful maybe” Marlee Scott took the next step by climbing up 4 spots to #18. And the K-Pop song “Step” by Kara sprinted to #17. It’s not the only song doing well this week. To mention are “Crawling back to you” (#23), “Adieu” (#24), “Invicible” (#31), “Don’t go breaking my heart” (#39), “Vestida de azúcar” (#60), “Playmate” to Jesus” (#63) and last but not least the jumper of the week “Heart skips a beat” by Olly Murs feat. Rizzle Kicks at #50. While there are a few songs which are rolling up my chart there had be one song losing more than others. The Goo Goo Dolls lost 23 spots and are now at #58. A bunch of new entries are down the chart. But the top new entries are directly below the Top 50. From #52 to #54 there are three new entries. The highest comes from Julian Velard with his ballad “Love again for the first time”. Followed by “American beauty”. This the first single by Ray Wilson & Stiltskin from their new album “Genesis vs. Stiltskin”. Completed are these three new entries by another K-Pop song. Singer Kim Bo Kyung entered my chart for the first time with her pop rock song Hurt at #54. One more new entry comes from Finish dance singer Anna Abreu with her smash hit “Stereo” at #68. Other new entries are the Danish duet “Do what you gotta do” by Fallulah & Cody (#75), “Any other place” by Pardon Ms. Arden (#92), “Sweet dreams” by The Grates (#94), “Betty” by Brooke Fraser (#96), “You love me anyway” by Sidewalk Prophets (#97), “Hey Maria” by Deer Park Avenue (#98), “When the lights die” by Boyce Avenue (#99) and “Death of communication” by Company of Thieves (#100).

Week 37 – November 12^th, 2011

The Top 5 was nearly static this week. There had been only one change between “Je veux” (now at #3) and “Ms. Crazy” (now at #4). So “Mr. Know it all” could hold the top position for the third consecutive week, but “My racing thoughts” by Jake’s Mannequin isn’t far behind. Anouk has still two songs in the Top 5. “What have you done” (five weeks at #1) has been released as the fourth single on Friday. One more week in the Top 5 Anouk could tie the record with “What have you done” set by Adele with “Turning tables” earlier this year. Pushing two spots forward in an 8-6 run is JoJo with “Disaster”. A solid entry in the Top 10 has Kate Voegele who scores her second Top 10 hit with “Sandcastles” at #8. Both of her singles from “Gravity Happens” are peaking now at eight, but “Sandcastles” could do it better in the next few weeks while the chart run for “Heart in chains” ended after 22 weeks. US singer Lana Del Rey set the highest new entry with her international smash hit “Video games”. Her breakthrough hit entered my chart directly at #12. Nickelback’s latest hit single “When we stand together” is doing well this week. Their hit entered the Top 20 at #17. South Korean pop/rock singer Kim Bo Kyung is climbing up fast with her single “Hurt”. This week her single climbed from 54 to 27. And I think that this song could reach the Top 15 or even higher in the next weeks. Unfortunately “Safe and sound” by Capital Cities crashed more than other songs this week. So you can find this song at #61. “Video games” is the highest new entry as I mentioned before. At the same time Lana Del Rey’s song is the only new entry within the Top 50. The first of the other 11 new entries comes from Aura Dione. Her third international hit after “I will love you Monday (365)” and “Song for Sophie (I hope she flies)” back in 2009 and 2010 is “Geronimo”. Entering the German and Austrian chart last week within the Top 3 “Geronimo” entered my chart at #51. Surprisingly Swedish singer Lykke Li entered my chart with “I follow rivers” at #96 after the song had been released at the beginning of 2011 when it had been an Indie hit here in Austria. Other new entries come from Fitz and the Tantrums with “Don’t gotta work it out (#77), Bush with “The sound of winter” (#78), Jennifer Lopez with Papi (#81), Natasha Bedingfield feat. Jamie Foxx with “Weightless” (#85), Destine with “Thousand miles” (#91), Armistice with “City lights cry” (#93), Luxuslärm with “Atemlos” (#95), Fabian Buch with “Turn off the lights” (#99) and New Found Glory with “Radiosurgery (#100).

Week 38 – November 19^th, 2011

After spending three weeks at the top spot Kelly Clarkson had to leave. Therefore Jack’s Mannequin reached the top in its 11th week with “My racing thoughts”. “Je veux” stayed at #3 for one more week, but it isn’t likely that Zaz reach #1 next week, because the top 10 is getting younger and fresher over the next few weeks. One of the fresh new songs is “Sandcastles” which entered the Top 5 in its 2nd Top 10 week. This isn’t the only song with less than ten weeks charting within the Top 10. The other song is “Video games” by Lana Del Rey. Her European breakthrough single shot from 12-7 after a very strong debut last week. And the Top 5 or even more is possible next week. These two songs roll over the older songs this week, but the others hold against it. So Anouk could tie the record for staying in the Top 5 with “What have you done”, while “Ms. Crazy” dropped 4-8. “Video games” displaced “Every time you go” by 3 Doors Down in the Top 10. Their hit is now at #14. Some other songs like “When we stand together” (#11) or “Crawling back to you” (#13) force onward with the Top 10 as their target. In the middle of these two songs is this week’s highest new entry. The follow up single to “Mr. Know it all” “What doesn’t kill you (stronger) from Kelly Clarkson debuted directly at #12. Exactly the same spot where Lana Del Rey’s “Video games” debuted last week. It isn’t her only new entry this week. Two more songs from the deluxe edition of her new album “Stronger” made it to my Top 50. “Alone” debuted at #49 and “Don’t be a girl about it” at #50. Between these entries from Kelly Clarkson you can find one more high debut. The unnoticed debut single “House”, released in August, by the 16 year old Swedish newcomer Amanda Mair shot directly to #27. The German band Luxuslärm is the greatest gainer this week. Their song “Atemlos” reached #59 after a debut at #95 last week. Not doing well is Wolf Gang with “The king and all of his man” dropping down to #89. “Flaws”, a double A side single – the other track is “Icarus”, is the second charting song by the English project Bastille. “Flaws” debuting at #64 followed “Laura Palmer” which peaked at #28 this year. All other new entries come from acts with their first chart appearance. In addition to these debuts you can find the following new songs: “Call me maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen (#79), “Domino” by Dani Moreno feat. Jackie Sagana (#84), “My home” by Nneka (#91), “Not over you” by Garvin DeGraw (#96), “Wartesaal” by Bosse (#98), “For altid” by Medina (#99) and “Messed up” by Tyler Noel (#100).

Week 39 – November 26^th, 2011

The mounting of the guard at the top of my chart had been executed. Both Kelly Clarkson and Jack’s Mannequin left the Top 2 to give some other artists the chance to shine. This week’s #1 song comes from an artist who is well known on this board. Kate Voegele scores her first #1 with “Sandcastles”, while her first song “Heart in chains” which I noticed peaked at #8 earlier this year. This isn’t the only good news for her, but more at later point of this review. At #2 there is another fresh artist for me. “Video games”, the debut single by US singer Lana Del Rey, is directly behind. This song is a big contender for the top spot over the next weeks. Not only because this week’s decision had been though. The Top 5 is completed by Kelly Clarkson, Jack’s Mannequin and Zaz which means that Anouk left the Top 5 after an incredible run of 13 weeks in it. “What have you done” is now at #6, but the question is if Anouk could tie the next record set by Adele until the end of December. Three songs are new in the Top 10. First to mention is the second single of the album “Stronger” from Kelly Clarkson. “What doesn’t kill you (stronger)” reached #7 in its 2nd week. Her other songs debuted last week climbed up some chart positions, but aren’t as successful as her released singles at the moment. Nickelback reached the Top 10 for the first time with “When we stand together” after climbing up three spots to #8. The last new song in the Top 10 comes from the Danish band The Storm. Their song “Lost in the fire” slowly indeed in my head what is reflected in the achievement of reaching #10. C½ur de Pirate, Daughtry or Amanda Mair could reach this part of the chart in the next few weeks. The highest new entry comes from the artist reaching #1 this week. The album track “Hundred million dollar soul” by Kate Voegele debuted at #49. And at #50 “Enough for always” debuted this week. This song is also from Kate Voegele. These are the only songs which are debuting within the Top 50. Most of the total of 14 new entries can be found at the end of my chart. Before I mention these songs it’s time to write some words about the German band Luxuslärm. Their song “Atemlos” is the greatest gainer for the second week in a row. When I first listened to this song I hadn’t seen this success, but however, “Atemlos” reached easily the Top 30 and maybe could do better. Unfortunately “Safe and sound” by Capital Cities dropped 23 spots to #96. So this is their last week on my chart. As mentioned there are a total of 14 new entries this week. Because I lead my personal chart only since March again, it concerns as usual with most of the artists chart for the first time. One exception is 3 Feet Smaller with their collaboration with German rapper Ferris MC. Their song “Lead or follow” debuted at #90. The other exceptions are Pixie Lott (feat. Pusha T. ) with “What do you take me for” at #79 and Kina Grannis with “In your arms” at #73. The other new entries come from the following artists: Kristin Errett with “Don’t call me sweetheart” (#61), The Good Natured with “Wolves (#70), Iffy the Bad Man with “Do you?” (#89), Thousand Foot Krutch with Shook (#91), Matt Cardle with “Run for your life” (#92), Haloo Helsinki! with “Kuule minua” (=Here me, #93), Michelle Branch with “Loud music (#94), Kandia with “Into your hands” (#98) and Valora with “I waited for you” (#99).

I really like “Sandcastles” especially the lyrics. So far it’s my favourite tune from her album which I bought three weeks ago, because it has been published only now (except iTunes) in Austria.

Yeah, Carly Rae Jepsen is almost top 50, but I think next week she could go top 30 or even higher. I’ve seen that Michelle Branch went to #1 on your chart, but at that time I had my problems with this song, because it sounds so different to her early staff I knew from her success here in Europe years ago.

Thanks for your note to Thousand Foot Krutch. I don’t know why I arranged them to US.

Week 40 – December 3^rd, 2011

The candidates for the #1 are the same as last week. Kate Voegele who scored her first #1 hit with “Sandcastles” and Lana Del Rey with Video games. I really like both songs and it was very hard to decide which song I like more this week, but at the end “Sandcastles” hold the top position. Therefore “Video games” had to stay at #2 for one more week. Nevertheless the concurrence for the top spot is getting bigger this week. Kelly Clarkson has now two songs within the Top 5. Her latest single “What doesn’t kill you (stronger)” climbed 7-4 in its 3rd week on my chart. And this isn’t the only song which will fight for the #1 over the next weeks. New concurrence is coming from the German band Jennifer Rostock. Their latest single “Ich kann nicht mehr” debuted directly at #8. This song is the first German song which debuted within the Top 10 and it is only the fourth song overall to get managed to do this. By the way two of the three others later reached #1, only “Killer bee” from my favourite singer Anouk failed to peak at #1. Beside the highest new entry you can find one more new song in the Top 10. C½ur de Pirate climbed up four spots to #9 with her first single “Adieu” from her upcoming album “Blonde”. Sadly JoJo had to leave the Top 10 with “Disaster”. Now at #13. Also leaving the Top 10 is The Storm with “Lost in the fire” after spending only one week at #10. In other consequence the Top 20 is roughed up with two more new songs in it. First to mention is a duet from Denmark. Fallulah & Cody climbed 29-15 with their cooperation “Do what you gotta do”. It’s the first Top 20 hit for Cody while Fallulah scored one this year with her Top 3 hit “Out of it”. The other song is “Atemlos” by Luxuslärm. They climbed up 10 spots to #20. Celebrating a half year in my chart are Brandon Flowers with “Jilted lovers and broken hearts” (#48) and 77 Bombay Street with “Up in the sky” (#34) and “In the war” (#64). This week’s greatest gainer comes from Canadian singer Carly Rae Jepsen with her song “Call me maybe”. Her song climbed up 27 spots to #30. After the highest new entry shot directly into the Top 10 you have to look at the bottom of my chart to find the rest of the new entries. The highest new entry of the rest comes from Udo Lindenberg feat. Clueso. Their song “Cello” is a cover of Udo Lindenberg’s 1970s hit for the MTV unplugged session and debuted at #79. Surprisingly Evanescence charted last week with their second single “My heart is broken” here in Austria without a presence on the TV or radio. This week it debuted on my chart at #86. This song reminds me to her hit single “My immortal”. Other new entries come from Black Stone Cherry with “In my blood” (#80), Kira Isabella with “Love me like that” (#82), Inna Modja with “La fille du Lido” (#83), Gym Class Heroes feat. Adam Levine with “Stereo hearts” (#84), Katy Perry with “The one that got away” (#87), FM Static with “F.M. S.T.A.T.I.C.” (#89), Needtobreathe with “Drive all night” (#98) and The Dangerous Summer with “War paint” (#100).

Really love Caro Emerald's music. "Back It Up" was a #1 hit on my chart last year. Ended up at #6 for the year 2010.... macpro.freeshell.org/music/2010.html - Other great Caro Emerald tracks include "A Night Like This", "Stuck", "That Man" (also noticed on your chart) and "The Other Woman".

macprohawaii: Yes, the music of Caro Emerald is nice. I really like "That man" or "A night like this". "Stuck" or "Back it up" are good tracks, but unfortunately the won't chart as high as on your chart. "That other woman" and the album track "Absolutely me" could be the next songs I gonna chart. At the moment I think both songs could go to my Top 20 and "Absolutely me" is one of my favourite track of her album, so this track is Top 10 ready.

Week 41 – December 10^th, 2011

I tried to updated this the whole day, but I had some problems with the board so I can post my new chart only now.

Over the last two weeks there had been a battle between Kate Voegele and Lana Del Rey for the top spot of my chart. This fact hasn’t changed this week. “Sandcastles” or “Video games” had been the question. And this week Lana Del Rey took over the top position from Kate Voegele with “Video games”, but “Sandcastles” could come back next week although the air is getting thinner there. Behind these great songs is Kelly Clarkson in a double pack with “What doesn’t kill you (stronger)” at #3 and “Mr. Know it all” at #4. New in the Top 5 is Jennifer Rostock with their last week’s highest new entry “Ich kann nicht mehr”. It’s the first German song to reach these regions of my chart. All these songs except “Mr. Know it all” could reach next week’s #1. Anouk and Jack’s Mannequin are still in the Top 10 with their #1 songs. They are followed by C½ur de Pirate – now “Adieu” is the best French song on my chart at #8 – and two newcomers. Daughtry reached #9 in its 7th week with “Crawling back to you”. And the other new artist with their first Top 10 hit is Luxuslärm. Their resent hit song “Atemlos” took the last step to climb 10 spots to #10. Therefore Zaz with “Je veux” (#11) and Nickelback with “When we stand together” (#14) had to leave this part of my chart. Last week I had a direct new entry within the Top 10. This week the highest new entry comes from Jessie J.. She had one hit this year in cooperation with B.o.B.. Back then she peaked at #17 with “Price tag”. This time she entered with “Dominio” directly at #27 and I think she could do better than with her previous hit. The greatest gainer of the week is “La fille du Lido” by Inna Modja. She climbed up 25 spots to #58. It’s one of these songs with a remarkable refrain. The exact opposite of the greatest gainer of the week is Sistar with “So cool”. The Korean group slipped down 26 spots to #75. This is maybe their last week on my chart. One more new entry in the Top 50 comes from Italian singer Giorgia. Her latest hit song “E’ l’amore che conta” debuted at #45. After his last years breakthrough with “Just the way you are” and this year’s smash hit “Grenade” it took a will for Bruno Mars to reach the chart with “It will rain”. So far this week he entered at #71. The Austrian punk rock band From Dawn To Fall have now their third hit with the ballad “Rome” at #88. Back in April they reached the Top 3 with “Rising”. Maybe “Rome” could reach the top regions of the chart in the next weeks. All in all there are ten new entries this week. The other new entries come from Vanessa Amorosi with “Amazing” (#91), Marlon Roudette with “New age” (#94, this song is a big hit in Austria and Germany since August but it attained my attention only this week), Annah Mac with Celia (#95), Marié Digby with “Your love” (#96), James Blunt with “Dangerous” (#97) and Breanne Düren with “Gold mine” (#99).
