Week 13 - May 28^th, 2011

Three Days Grace are at #1 for an other week. In a tough fight 77 Bombay Street failed to beat them. “Long way” is in his 11 week but still missing #1. The spots changed a lot within the top 10. “Kryptonite” moved up five spots and is at #3. This song is a big contender. A small rise is made by “Adele’s song “Turning tables”, now at #4. Patrick Wolf has also a good chance to be the next #1 with “The city”. This song peaked at the moment at #5. Further there are no new entries within the top 10. Ryan Star made the highest deput at # 15 with his 2010 single “Start a fire”. Knocking at the top spots are Brooke Fraser, Adele with “Set fire to the rain” and Peter, Bjorn and John. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals made the highest jump and are now at #63 moving up 15 spots. Maybe in her last week is Alexandra Stan with her international smash hit “Mr. Saxobeat” at #92. Beside the high entries by Ryan Star and Taylor Swift we can see six more new entries. Scars on 45, Fitz and the Tantrums, Deckchair Orange, Mika Newton, Maroon 5 and Centao complete this week’s chart.

Week 14 - June 04^th, 2011

This week everything is around the question “Is “Uncharted” at #7 for another week or does something else happen?”. The anwer is yes. On the one hand Sarah Bareilles could be found at #7 for the sixth consecutive week. On the other hand Three Days Grace lost the #1 spot. There had been a lot of favorits. But neither Trouble over Tokyo, Patrick Wolf nor 77 Bombay Street moved up to #1. Peter, Bjorn & John sprinted to #1. Rising up 15 spots they had their first #1 hit with “Second chance”. Only one other song entered the top 10. “Set the fire to rain” from the incredible Album “21” by Adele peaked at #10. So Adele has now two top 10 hits. The other hit “Turning tables” is at #6. It is the second time to place two songs within the top 10 for Adele. “Kryptonite” and “The City” complete the top three. You can notice in this weeks chart a lot of strong moves. Beside “Second chance”, “Take of your shirt” by Bibio, “Happily ever after” by He is We,, “Dance with the geeks” by Deckchair Orange,, “Moneygrabber” by Fitz and the Tantrums,, “Girls of 1.000 dreams” by The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, “Changing” by The Airborn Toxic Event and “Give me something” by Scars of 45 climped up more then 14 spots. Scars on 45 are awared jumper of the week at #55. Maybe this is the last week for The Script. Now at #85. Clare Maguire debuted at #14 with her latest hit single “The shield and the sword”. All in all there are 11 new entries. These new entries include the Leslie Gore cover “Maybe I know” by Alessi’s Ark – the second single from the Album “Time travel” – and the Nirvana cover “Heart shaped box” by Any Major Dude. Other new entries are by Example, Candy Coated Kilahz, Kat DeLuna feat. Fo Onassis, Cee Lo Green, Lady Antebellum, Young Guns and Tonyé.

Week 15 - June 11^th, 2011

Last week Peter, Bjorn & John took off the #1 position with “Second chance”. This song stayed their for one more week. Climbing up 4 spots is Adele with “Turning tables”. Now at #2 she is a big contender for the top spot. Only at #3 is Trouble over Tokyo. “Kryptonite” lost one spot, but there is a chance to get to the first spot. New in the top 10 are 77 Bombay Street with their third single “Up in the sky”. They debuted at #4. “Long way” is still in the top 10. “Up in the sky” is not their only new hit song in the countdown. Seven more songs from their album “Up in the sky” charted this week. The songs “Number 2” and “In the war” debuted in the top half of the chart. Another big surprise in the top 10 is set by Sara Bareilles. “Uncharted” left the seventh spot and climbed up two spots to #5 in her 15^th week. Is this song ready for the #1 or is this the last rise up before leaving the top 10? The answers gives us the chart of the next week. Fortunately “The city” by Patrick Wolf fall down to #6 and the former #1 “Lost in you” is now at #7. Clare Maguire has her first top 10 hit with “The shield and the sward”. Currently at #10. Beside the high entrie of 77 Bombay Street there are three more high entries. Andreas Bourani debuted at #24 with his debut song “Nur in meinem Kopf”. Brandon Flowers charted at #28 with “Jilted lovers and broken hearts” followed by the new entrie “Heart in chains” by Kate Voegele at #31. The jumper of the week award goes to “Dancing tonight” at #49 and the looser of the week goes to “At home” by Crystal Fighters at #92. Week 16 - June 18^th, 2011

Are two weeks the magic number for staying at #1? Aurea, Three Days Grace and now Peter, Bjorn & John had to leave the top spot after this magic number had been reached. This week Adele has her first #1 with “Turning tables”. “Second chance” dropped one spot to #2. Maybe there is a second chance to fight back. Within the top ten there is only one big change. Sara Bareilles fall down to #11 and left the top 10 after a strong move to #5 last week. Also out of the top ten is Clare Maguire after spending only one week at #10. Brooke Fraser climbed up six spots to #7. She and The Pains of Being Pure at Heart with “Heaven’s gonna happen now” at #10 are new in the top 10. Missing the top 10 is Avril Lavigne with “Everybody hurts”. In her 11^th week she knocked at the door. This song is still rising up. So it is possible we could see this song within the next weeks top 10. Two groups entered this weeks chart twice. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals debuted with the first single of their selftiteled album “Tiny light” at #50. Both singles, “Tiny light” and “Paris (ooh la la), had been released in middle of 2010. The success of “Paris (ooh la la)” this year lead my attention to the album so that “Tiny light” charted this week. The other song by Grace Potter & The Nocturnals charted is the song “Hot summer night” at #17. This song isn’t released as a single until now, but I personally think it should be. Also charting two songs is the austrian group Sawoff Shotgun. Formed by three sisters from Graz. Their first single “Kids on coke” of the 2011 released second album “For our sanity” charted at #83 and their second single “Go commando” charted at #55. Colonel Reyel lost 19 spots and is now found at #71. Jumper of the week are The Midway State. “Atlantic” rose up 47 spots and is now at #39. Beside Grace Potter & The Nocturnals and Sawoff Shotgun Rihanna, Hard-FI, James Cottriall – who lives in Austria and who had his breakthrough last year with his song “Unbreakable” –, BC Jean and Ed Sheeran debuted this week.

Week 17 - June 25^th, 2011

Adele stays on top of the chart for her second week with “Turning tables”. Follow by another major hit “Set fire to the rain”. This song climbed up 4 spots to #2. The top 3 is completed by 77 Bombay Street with “Up in the sky”. On their way down are “Kryptonite” and “The city”, but still in the top 10. New there are Avril Lavigne in here 12 week on the countdown with “Everybody hurts” at #8 and Clare Maguire at #9. While “The shield and the sword” is back within the top songs of this chart, Ryan Star missed the top 10. “Start a fire” is at #11. Next to Ryan Star there are a few artists – Fitz and the Tantrums, The Midway State or Brandon Flowers to name some of these artists – who could entered the top 10 within the next few weeks. Scars on 45 are for the second time the jumper of the week. “Give me something” climped up 21 spots to #17 and there is no end in rising up. On the other end of the chart Mono & Nikitaman the austrian/german cooperation is maybe in their last week at # 97 dropping down 21 spots. The highest new entries is set by the italien rock group Modá with “Vittima”. This is their third single from their album “Viva i romantici” and the second single charting at # 37. At #40 Superfly debuted with their promo single “Rollin’ days” at #40. Other debuts are by The Saturdays, Hey Monday, Rocky Loves Emily, the south african artists Elvis Blue and Lloyd Cele, Capra, Parachute and Belinda. Further Kina Grannis set her debut with “Message from your heart” from the 2011 re-released Album “Stairwells”. Orginally released as a single in 2009 this song debuted at #83. Beside this debuts there are two songs re-entering this chart. At #91 Grouplove with “Colours” and at #75 Adele with “Don’t you remeber”. The Adele comeback is phenomenally after six weeks without couting. Is this a dayfly or could this song a big hit in the future?

Week 18 - July 2 ^nd, 2011

Adele is shining down from the top of the chart for the third week in a row. Although there is a new #1. “Turning tables” dropped two spots to #3, but “Set fire to the rain” climbed up the last spot to #1. So Adele is the first artist to have to #1 songs on my chart. The top songs of Adele are at #1 and #3 which means that there is a new #2. 77 Bombay Street with “Up in the sky” is covered by two Adele songs. For them it is the second time to reach #2. “Long way” failed to make it to the top, but still could be found at #17. Beside the Adele and 77 Bombay Street match up for the top spot there are three new entries in the top 10. Scars on 45 climped up 13 spots – they are for third time the jumper of the week – to #4 with their first hit “Give me something”. Grace Potter & The Nocturnals made it to #7 with “Hot summer night” and Ryan Star reached #9 after waiting some weeks to reach the top 10. The highest new entrie is set by We Are the In Crowd with their song “Never be what you want”. Originally released in december 2009 as a single this song is still promoted, because of the fact that the official music video had been released two months ago and even tough there had been two more singles released 2010. The Naked and Famous entered the chart with their follow up single to “Young blood” at #24. “I’m a cliché”, the third single by Anouk, debuted at # 28. “Killer bee” the promo single from her album “To get her together” is still on the chart at #41. “I’m a cliché” isn’t the only new entrie by Anouk. Her second single “Down & dirty" debuted in deeper regions of the chart and is found at #95. The rock song “Vienna’s burning” by the austrian group 3 Feet Smaller debuted at # 30. It is their first single from their fifth album “3 Feet Smaller”. One more high entrie is set by Paramore with their latest hit song “Monster” at #32. All other new entries are behind the top 90.

Week 19 - July 9 ^th, 2011

The song “Give me something” by Scars on 45 has the earworm factor for me. Therefore and because of the fact that this song had been 3 times the greatest gainer over the last weeks it is no big surprise removing Adele from the #1 position. Hopefully this song spends more than one or two weeks at the top spot. All together there had not been lots of changes within the top 10. “Up in the sky” is still covered twice by Adele. Only We Are the In Crowd made it into the top 10. Their song “Never be what you want” climbed up two spots to #9. That’s why Patrick Wolf had to leave the top 10 with “The city”. Now at #11. Behind this song Brandon Flowers with “Jilted lovers and broken hearts” at #14 and 77 Bombay Street with “In the war” at #15 made good moves. Pigeon John debuted with his first single from his fourth album “Dragon slayer” at #31. It is his first major hit, debuting this week in Germany at #42. The Goo Goo Dolls at #40 and the debut single “Blinded by the dark” by the Swedish band The Pusher at #43 made also good debuts. Charice jumped 22 to spots to #76 and so her song “Louder” got the jumper of the week award. Looser of the week is Fenech-Soler with “Demons” at #98. Other acts debuting are Seeker Lover Keeper, Kylie Minogue, Eskimo Joe, Hanger (not the brasilian metal band) and Lenny Kravitz.

Week 20 - July 16 ^th, 2011

In the top 10 there are a lot of changes. Only two artists, one of them are We Are the In Crowd, didn’t move. Also Scars on 45 didn’t move. “Give me something” continued staying at the top spot for the second week. Can they hold the #1 spot for a third week? During the last 20 weeks most of the #1’s only stayed there for the maximum of 2 weeks. So it is hard to answer this question. Especially since Adele returned to #2 with “Turning tables”. This song is in its 12th week in the top 10. One more week and Adele could tie the record with Aurea and 77 Bombay Street. In 2 weeks this record is only for Adele. Avril Lavigne took a very strong move to #4 with “Everybody hurts”. 15 weeks on the chart and still rising up. New in the top 10 is Brandon Flowers with “Jilted lovers and broken hearts" at #10. Therefore Ryan Star had to leave and dropped to #12. The Gaslight Anthem entered the chart at #30 with there 3rd single “Bring it on” from their 2010 Album “American Slang”. So they set the highest debut this week. Also new is “Jet lag” by Simple Plan feat. Natasha Bedingfield at #47. Charice jumped to 28 spots to #48. The Swedish Group Friska Viljor dropped 17 spots to #89. In total there are 11 new entries and one reentry. So you can find new entries by Sick Puppies, Aloe Blacc, Avril Lavigne, Lady Gaga, Jukebox the Ghost, Alex Winston, Six West, Aylin Prandi and The Grates.

Week 21 - July 23 ^rd, 2011

“Atlantic” is the first single from the upcoming Album “Paris or India” by the Canadian indie rock band The Midway State. This week they moved for the first time into the top 10 at #8. Therefore Brandon Flowers had to leave the top 10 with “Jilted lovers and broken hearts” after only one week. This song dropped 2 spots to # 12. Within the top 10 there had been little changes. Scars on 45 is at #1 for the third week and Adele is in her 13th week in the top 10 with “Turning tables”. Peter, Bjorn & John and Brooke Fraser are now at the end of the top 10. The Gaslight Anthem, Paramore and Kate Voegele are new within the top 20. Specially Kate Voegele seems to be on the rise, if we remember her at #35 two weeks ago with “Heart in chains”. The highest debut at # 36 is set by Cee Lo Green and his latest hit single “Bright lights bigger city”. Surprisingly, but due to her success of the re-released single “Pocketful of sunshine” in Switzerland, Germany and Austria Natasha Bedingfield debuted at #40. Also a little bit surprising is the rise up by Ed Sheeran. His song “The A team” climbed up 31 spots to #61 in its 6th week. On the other side Example had a bad week with “Changed the way you kiss me”. Now at #88. All in all there are 11 more new entries. I mentioned CeeLo Green and Natasha Bedingfield. Other new entries are by Maroon 5 feat. Christina Aguilera, Firefox AK, Heather Nova or The New Cities.
