Week 380 – June 9^th, 2018

What should I write? Work has been very busy this week too and so there are only two (!) new entries within my Top 100 and these songs aren’t regular singles, but album cuts from Jillette Johnson’s 2017 album “All I ever see in you is me”. These debuts are “Like you raised me” (#84) and “I’m sorry” (#85). This it is with this week’s new entries.

Let’s have a closer look at me Top 10. And as I hadn’t really time for new music my chart is slowing down for another week. Still at the top is Kylie Minogue with “Stop me from falling” (#1). I have no doubt that this song would have also been my #1 for five weeks when I had more time in listing to new music. Also holding its spot are “Zusammen” (#2, “Together”) by Die Fantastischen Vier feat. Clueso, “Desire” (#3) by Matt Cardle and “Your side on the bed” (#4) by Loote. Up and into the Top 5 is Grace VanderWaal with “Clearly” (#5).

The next in line just missed my Top 5 although climbing up two spots. It is “Sottovoce” (#6, “Whisper”) by Italian Emma. For the first time in my Top 10 is another song from the great album “Canyonlands”. “Not the only one” (#7) by Kate Voegele sprinted up 12 spots to reach this notable spot. And I’m very happy to see her live in about a month. Hopefully it will be a great concert. Then there is the first of two songs by Austrian band Tagtraeumer whom I saw live last year. Up two spots is “Alle Farben” (#8, “All colours”). Their other song “Liebe = X” (#10, “Love = X”) is new in this part of my Top 10 after a eight spot climb. Caught between these two Tagtraeumer songs is the former #1 “Effetto domino” (#9, “Domino effect”) by Emma.

Week 381 – June 9^th, 2018

Since weeks Kylie Minogue is dominating my chart. First she reached #1 with “Dancing” (#19) which stayed at the top for four weeks. And now she is the defending champion for the sixth week in a row with “Stop me from falling” (#1). Is there a song out there which is stopping this song from being my #1? It’s hard to predict if there are new songs which are able to reach #1, but there is one song which is absolutely in the position to take over in the future. Still at #2 are German rap band Die Fantastischen Vier with German singer Clueso and their hit song “Zusammen” (“Together”). Up one spot is “Your side of the bed” (#3) by Loote. New at #4 is Kate Voegele with “Not the only one”. This is the song I’m talking about above. Only a few weeks to go and then I see her live. It would be absolutely fantastic if “Not the only one” will be my #1 by then. Also new in my Top 5 is “Sottovoce” (#5, “Whisper”) by Emma.

Also on a good way is “Alle Farben” (#6, “All colours”) by Tagtraeumer after this song climbed up two spots. Falling down four spots is “Desire” (#7) by Matt Cardle. His new album is out since several weeks and so you can expect more songs by him on my chart in the near future. Three spots down is “Clearly” (#8) by Grace VanderWaal. This song is followed by the only new song in this part of my chart. For Matt Simons “We can do better” (#9) is his first Top 10 hit with his first charting song. This week’s Top 10 is rounded out wit another song by Austrian Tagtraeumer. “Liebe = X” (#10, “Love = X”).

This week’s greatest gainer of the week award goes to two different songs. The first one is latin pop by Liam Payne & J Balvin with their hit “Familiar” (#44). The other one is EDM by Aslove feat. Norma Jean Martine. This brings me to another week with only a handful debuts. The highest debuts are album cuts by Taylor Swift. She is debuting “I did something bad” (#62) and “Don’t blame me” (#63). The highest debut for a regular single is “Don’t say you love me” (#80) by Fifth Harmony. The last time I charted them had been with “Sledgehammer”. Other debuts are “Golden” (#81) by Kylie Minogue, “Seeing blind”(#82) by Niall Horan feat. Maren Morris and “Summer fever” (#83) by Little Big Town.

Once more I hadn’t really time for listening to new music. The first reason lies in my work as the school year is near its end and so the last exams happened this week. And the second reason is the football world championship in Russia. So it is another week only two new songs in this week’s countdown which are “only” album cuts. Although there is only little action there is a new #1. Kate Voegele takes over with “Not the only one” (#1) after it climbed up three spots from outside the podium. Last week’s top song “Stop me from falling” (#2) by Kylie Minogue dropped one spot and is now in the runner’s up position for the first time after six weeks at the top of my chart. “Zusammen” (#3, “Together”) by Die Fantastischen Vier feat. Clueso is completin g the podium. Down one spot is Loote with “Your side of the bed” (#4). Still in my Top 5 is “Sottovoce” (#5, “Whisper”) by Emma.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened by “Alle Farben” (#6, “All colours”) by Tagtraeumer. They are followed by one two new acts in this part of my chart. Let’s welcome back Norma Jean Martine. Her song “Angels on my shoulders” (#7) looped into my Top 10 after an eight spot climb. It isn’t her only song in my Top 10 this week. Her cooperation with Lost Kings also reached my Top 10 for the first time. “When we were young” (#9) climbed up seven spots to reach a spot within my Top 10. Caught between these two songs is “We can do better” (#8) by Matt Simons. “Liebe = X” (#10, “Love = X”) is rounding out this week’s Top 10.

The only debuts are album cuts from Pink’s latest album “Beautiful trauma”. She debuts her duet “Revenge” (#86) with Eminem and her song “But we lost it” (#87).

And so nice to see you showing some love for Liam Payne, who not only is hot as hell (lol) but Familiar is light years ahead of his previous singles. Until now I haven't listened to Matt's new album, but as I have now a lot of free time it is definitely on my list. I hope it will met my expectations.

I don't really care about Liam Payne music, but for me Familiar is one of his best songs although I'm not into the latest Latin Pop trend.

So far the music by Calum Scott hasn't excited me so none of his songs found its way to my chart. But things can always change.

Week 383 – June 30^th, 2018

A week ago I broke my ankle joint and so I had to cancel my Kate Voegele concert view because of my lying gypsum I have for about at least four weeks. I hope that she will visit Austria in the future too to see her live, but let’s go back to the top of this review. Kate Voegele is holding the top spot with “Not the only one” (#1) for another week. She is followed by Norma Jean Martine with “Angels on my shoulders” (#2). Six week #1 “Stop me from falling” (#3) by Kylie Minogue dropped one spot and is now completing this week’s podium. Also down one spot are “Zusammen” (#4, “Together”) by Die Fantastischen Vier feat. Clueso and “Your side of the bed” (#5) by Loote.

The 2nd part o this week’s Top 10 is opened with another song by Norma Jean Martine. This time she is the featured act on the Lost Kings track “When we were young” (#6). For a 2nd time in her career Norma Jean Martine took over my chart. “Angels on my shoulders” (#1) isn’t really an optimistic view of the world, but I like this song and so it deserves to be #1 for at least one week. Last week’s top song “Not the only one” (#2) by Kate Voegele dropped one spot. The podium is completed by Kylie Minogue with her wonderful “Stop me from falling” (#3) in its 17th week. The 2nd Norma Jean Martine song in my Top 5 is “When we were young” (#6) which climbed up two songs. It is the first Top 5 hit for US DJ’s Lost Kings. Down one spot is “Together” (#5, “Zusammen”) by Die Fantastischen Vier feat. Clueso.

Up three spots is Austrian star Andreas Gabalier. With his first charting hit “Verdammt lang her” (#6, “Damn long ago”) he is heavily knocking at the door to my Top 5. This song is followed by the first of two new songs in my Top 10. “I said hi” (#7) is the first Top 10 hit for Australian singer Amy Shark. Caught between these two new songs is “Your side of the bed” (#8) by Loote. The other new song in my Top 10 is “Don’t go breaking my heart” (#9) by Backstreet Boys. The greatest gainer for a third week in a row is “I did something bad” (#12) by Taylor Swift. This week this song definitely outperformed her other charting hit “Don’t blame me” (#16) which did also well. So let’s go to this week’s highest debut. It is the new single by Kelly Clarkson. “Heat” (#62) got a solid debut just before the other debut “Whole lotta woman” (#63) by Kelly Clarkson. Week 385 – July 14^th, 2018

For several weeks now my chart is known for little less action. So is this week too. Only four songs got there debut including only one regular single down the chart. But lets start with first things first. I’ve a new #1. Technically it is no new #1 because Kate Voegele returns with “Not the only one” (#1) after one week of absence. Therefor Norma Jean Martine dropped one spot after one week at the top with “Angels on my shoulder” (#2). “Stop me from falling” (#3) by Kylie Minogue is still completing my Top 5. Also holding its spot is “When we were young” (#4) by Lost Kings feat. Norma Jean Martine. Sprinting up the chart is “I did something bad” (#5) by Taylor Swift. This week this song climbed up seven spots to reach its first week in my Top 10.

The next two songs are holding their spots. These are “Verdammt lang her” (#6, “Damn long ago”) by Andreas Gabalier and “I said hi” (#7) by Amy Shark. Next in line is “Don’t go breaking my heart” (#8) by 90’s boy band Backstreet Boys. I hope they will release more gems like this in the future. Dropping down four spots is “Zusammen” (#9, “Together”) by Die Fantastischen Vier feat. Clueso. It looks that this song will not be found in next week’s Top 10. And last but not least lets welcome “Bye bye” (#10) by Annalisa in my Top 10.

This week’s new entries are mostly by MisterWives. They are debuting with the last songs from “Connect the dots” I haven’t charted before. “Out of tune piano” is in at #78, “Let the light in” at #79 and “Band camp” at #80. The only regular single debut is “Take my love back” (#97) by Frank Pole feat. Dia Frampton.

Week 386 – July 21^st, 2018

It lasted only one week that Kate Voegele returned to the #1 spot with “Not the only one” (#3). This week she was outperformed by Taylor Swift’s album cut “I did something bad” (#1) which is her first #1 this year and her 5th overall. Caught between these two songs is Norma Jean Martine with “Angels on my shoulders” (#2). Knocking at the podium is Austrian star Andreas Gabalier. With his first charting hit “Verdammt lang her” (#4, “Damn long ago”) he scored his first Top 5 hit after a two spot climb. Up three spots are 90’s boy band Backstreet Boy. Their recent hit “Don#t go breaking my heart” (#5) isn’t a big hit as their songs back in the 90’s, but for me this song works and it could do better next week.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened by former #1 “Stop me from falling” (#6) by Kylie Minogue. This song is 19 weeks on chart and has spent six at the top, but now the signs are for a Top 10 dropout. Directly behind is Australian singer Amy Shark with “I said hi” (#7). Then there is Italian Annalisa. The single and title track of her last album “Bye bye” (#8) climbed up two spots. Down five spots is another hit by Norma Jean Martine and Lost Kings. “When we were young” (#9) is maybe out of my Top 10 by next week, but it could also be that she returns with another song where she is featured. The only new song in my Top 10 is another album cut by Taylor Swift. “Don’t blame me” (#10) did this last step with a two spot climb.

On her way up the chart is Kelly Clarkson with her latest single “Heat”. This week it climbed up 21 spots and so it is the greatest gainer of the week. For new entries you once more have to look down the chart. The highest debuts are the last but not least two album cuts from Anouk’s album “Fake it till we die”. Unfortunately this album doesn’t met my expectations and so don’t expect much. Her new songs are “Brothers & sisters” (#71) and “My man” (#72). Other debuts are “Bad liar” (#92) by Krewella, “About you” (#97) by Tyron Hapi & Laurell, “Cali” (#98) by Moismann, “Mariposas” (#99, “Butterflies”) by Paty Cantú and “No me acuerdo” (#100, “I don’t remember”) by Thalía feat. Week 387 – July 28^th, 2018

Taylor Swift is holding the top spot with “I did something bad” (#1) for a 2nd week in a row. She is still followed by Norma Jean Martine and her wonderful “Angels on my shoulders” (#2). For the first time on the podium are Backstreet Boys. Their song “Don’t go breaking my heart” (#3) is a big comeback from them for me. Unfortunately it only obtained little airplay here in Europe. Down one spot is Kate Voegele with “Not the only one” (#4). “Don’t blame me” (#5) by Taylor Swift is completing this week’s Top 5. So she has now two Top 10 hits at once.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened with “Verdammt lang her” (#6, “Damn long ago) by Austrian Andreas Gabalier. Last week he knocked at the door to my Top 3, but this week it dropped two spots. Directly behind is the 2nd highest charting song which isn’t in English. “Bye bye” (#7) by Annalisa climbed up one spot. On its way downwards is former #1 “Stop me from falling” (#8) by Kylie Minogue it is 20th week on chart. Norma Jean Martine is replacing herself this week in my Top 10. “When we were young” (#11) where she is featured on the Lost Kings track is replaced by “So high” (#9) where she is featured on the Aslove track. This week’s Top 10 is rounded out by “I said hi” (#10) by Amy Shark.

The greatest gainer is as last week “Heat” (#12) by Kelly Clarkson. Definitely a song which could top my chart in the future. So let’s talk about this week’s new entries. For the first time in a while there are more than ten debuts. The highest one is by US band LANY. They are only known for minor hits on my chart. Their biggest hit up todate had been "Super far" which peaked at #63 in October 2017. With their actual single they have a potential Top 10 hit in their pocket. “Thru these tears” (#31) shot straight into the Top 40 and this song has written hit all over it. And as my chart grow old over the weeks it is absolutely possible that “Thru these tears” could reach the Top 5 at least.

Sure there are more than ten debuts, but beside “Thru these tears” no other new song reached my Top 70. Week 388 – August 4^th, 2018

This week I’m throwing away lots of burden. 14 songs had to leave for this week’s edition and I’ve to say thank you for this wonderful music. Although there are several debuts there is no new #1. “I did something bad” (#1) by Taylor Swift gets its 3rd week at the top. New in the runner’s up spot are the Backstreet Boys. “Don’t go breaking my heart” (#2) is definitely one of the biggest sensations this year and it will be interesting to so if they go all the way up next week. On the other hand there is big concurrence in the Top 5. Up two spots is another song by Taylor Swift. “Don’t blame me” (#3) has also its chance, but in my eyes this song is only an outsider. New in my Top 10 and my Top 5 are the next two songs. Let’s welcome Kelly Clarkson. Her recent single “Heat” (#4) climbed up eight spots after it had been last week’s greatest gainer. This song is followed by this week’s greatest gainer. It is “Thru these tears” (#5) by LANY. For them this is their first Top 10 (and of course Top 5) smash in their career. This is definitely a song which could reach my #1.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is lead by two former #1’s. “Angels on my shoulder” (#6) by Norma Jean Martine dropped four spots. Down three spots is “Not the only one” (#7) by Kate Voegele. I’ve mentioned it above that there are 14 new songs, but none of these songs had been able to reach my Top 50. The highest debut has been close, but just missed it. It is the new single by Shakira and Maluma. Every now and then Shakira is charting with a song in Spanish. This time it is “Clandestino” (#52, “Clandestine”). I like this song, but I’m not sure that this song will end in my Top 20. Also near to my Top 50 are two debuts from the album “Time is a riddle” by Luke Sital-Singh. These are “Rough diamond falls” (#56) and “Until the night is done” (#57).

Week 389 – August 11^th, 2018

It only lasted three weeks for US band LANY to score the bands first #1 with their recent single “Thru these tears” (#1). It is interesting to see that they outperformed score artists. So Taylor Swift or Kelly Clarkson had no chance this week. Taylor Swift is completing this week’s Top 3 with two more songs. Former #1 “I did something bad” (#2) dropped one spot while “Don’t blame me” (#3) is holding its spot. Also stable is “Heat” (#4) by Kelly Clarkson which should reach the Top 3 by next week. Last week up to #2 and now dropping down three spots is “Don’t go breaking my heart” (#5) by 90’s boyband heroes Backstreet Boys.

Still opening the 2nd part of my Top 10 is former #1 “Angels on my shoulders” (#6) by Norma Jean Martine. Up one spot is the other Top 10 hit with an involvement by Norma Jean Martine. The Aslove track “So high” is now at #7. This song switched the spot with “Not the only one” (#8) by Kate Voegele. Up seven spots and new in my Top 10 is “Whole lotta woman” (#9) from the album “Meaning of life” by Kelly Clarkson. “Verdammt lang her” (#10, “Damn long ago”) by Andreas Gabalier is rounding out this week’s Top 10.

Outside the Top 10 there you can see a lot of action this week. Four songs climbed up 17 spots and these songs have to share this greatest gainer of the week award. These songs are “Mi parli piano” (#59, “Talk to me slowly”) and “Le cose chen penso” (#60, “Things that I think”) by Emma, “Lie like me” (#61) by Ward Thomas and “High on life” (#62) by Martin Garrix feat. Bonn. All of these four songs are charting higher than the highest debut of week which can just be found in the Top 70. This highest debut is by German singer Leony who had released her debut single “Surrender” back in October 2017. Now she returns with the follow up, which is in my eyes even stronger. With “Boots” (#70) reached my chart for the first time. Be ready that this song will reach my Top 50 very soon or even better.

The 2nd best new entry is country pop from Northern Ireland. British country music is getting better in this days with Ward Thomas’ new single “Lie like me” as a good example, but back to Northern Ireland. I’ve not charted songs from this country for several years now. Catherine McGrath has moved to London to work on her debut album “Talk of this town”. “Wild” (#73) is her third out of five regular singles from this debut album. “Wild” is a really good country pop song which should do well in the British country scene and maybe this song or the follow up singles “Lost in the middle” (which is a possible new entry in the future) or “Back home” (I should give this song a listen in the next days) which just has been released as a single two days ago could bring her to the notebooks overseas. “Wild” is followed by two more album tracks of the last Tagtraeumer album “Unendlich eins” (“Infinitely one”). These songs are “Sicherer Hafen” (#74, “Save harbour”) and “Bonnie & Clyde” (#75).

Among the other debuts there are several well known artists. Let’s start with 80s icon Boy George. He and the Culture Club are returning with “Let somebody love you” (#82). This song is definitely worth listening and maybe this song will be Boy George’s biggest hit on my chart. Then there is the king of Rock’n’Roll. Elvis Presley can be found for the first time on my chart. His “actual” single “When no one stands alone” (#84) features his daughter Lisa Marie Presley. It is taken from his new compilation album “When no one stands alone”. This song had been on his 9th album “How Great Thou Art” which had been released back in 1967. Also well known is German DJ Zedd. His new single “Happy now” (#85) features Irish singer Elley Duhé who is debuting with this song. With a recent Top 10 hit in their pocket Sigala returns with “We don’t care” (#86) where the feature The Vamps who actually have a hit in my Top 40 with “Just my type” (#32). Then there is “Don’t leave me alone” (#87) by David Guetta feat. Anne-Marie.

Other debuts are “Lie” (#83) by NF, “Underwater” (#88) by Cody Simpson & The Tide, “It’s on you” (#89) by Cailee Rae, “Picture” (#92) by Karen Harding and “Over my skin” (#94) by Tiffany Young.

Week 390 – August 18^th, 2018

Another week goes by and LANY defended their title with “Thru these tears” (#1). This is a huge success, because a massive of 22 debuts as well as many position changes happened this week. “Thru these tears” was one of three songs in my Top 10 which could hold its position. “Thru these tears” is followed by Kelly Clarkson’s single “Heat” (#3) which climbed up two spots. “I did something bad” (#3) and “Don’t blame me” (#4) by Taylor Swift each dropped one spot. Up one spot and back in my Top 5 is former #1 “Angels on my shoulders” (#5) by Norma Jean Martine.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened by Backstreet Boys’ “Don’t go breaking my heart” (#6) which changed its spot with “Angels on my shoulders”. Up two spots is “Whole lotta woman” (#7) by Kelly Clarkson. Caught between the non-movers “Not the only one” (#8) by Kate Voegele and “Verdammt lang her” (#10, “Damn long ago) by Andreas Gabalier is “So high” (#9) by Aslove feat. Norma Jean Martine.

Last week Italian singer Emma had to share the award for the greatest gainer of the week with several other artists. This week it all belongs to her, because “Mi parlo piano” (#26, “Talk to me slowly”) climbed up 33 spots. This song is now near my Top 20 and it is definitely a contender for a spot in my Top 10. So let’s see which song is the highest debut in this week’s edition. Austrian star Christina Stürmer returns with her first single from her upcoming album “Überall zu Hause” (“Everywhere at home”). “In ein paar Jahren” (#31, “In a few years”) is a very interesting song, but I doubt at the moment that this song will be big hit for her in Austria. On my chart otherwise this song has a good outlook. I’m sure that this one will give her another Top 10 hit and time will show if this is song brings her back to the top.

Christina Stürmer is leading a total of 22 new songs in this edition with six of these songs debuting in my Top 50. The 2nd best debut is by Norwegian singer Matilda. I’ve not charted her before. “You” (#32) is beautiful love song which absolutely joins the trend of EDM, but it is a way more relaxed than some songs out of this genre. Next in line is “One more red light” (#33) by Cassadee Pope. As I’m always a little bit in country music it is no surprise that one ore another song out of this genre has the potential to reach my Top 10. This very strong debut gives Cassadee Pope another change to bring a song into this part. And who knows maybe “One more red light” outperforms her biggest hit “I wish I could break your heart”. The fourth debuting song in this row is “Between you and me” (#34) by One Bit and Louisa Johnson. I’ve not heard about One Bit before, but teaming up with Louisa Johnson really helped them to get a proper debut. For Louisa Johnson on the other hand this song could be her biggest hit on my chart.
