Week 266 – April 2^nd, 2016

The new month is opening with a new #1. For the first time Gwen Stefani is catching the top spot. Solo she had some hits for me back in the phase when I had no chart, but surely her biggest hit for me is still “Don’t speak” with No Doubt. “Make me like you” (#1) is on its way to be a favourite of mine. I loved this song with the very first second I listend to this song and it was only a matter of time when she grabbed the #1. This last climb to #1 placed Adele’s “When we were young” (#2) to the runner’s-up position. Still at the podium is Selena Gomez with “Hands to myself” (#3). Long lasting “New bohemia” (#4) is holding a spot in the Top 5 for now nine weeks. The only song which reached a spot in the Top 5 for the first time is “Wild things” (#5) by Alessia Cara.

Alessia Cara replaced Leslie Clio. “Damage done” (#6) is now in its 14th week in the Top 10 and still is among my most played songs. But “Damage done” isn’t the only song by German Leslie Clio in this list. The album cut “Changes” (#35) climbed up 17 spots and is awaited for an arival in the Top 10 by next. “Changes” is a little bit different to Leslie Clio’s recent #1’s, because it is more a soft ballad that a power song, but this difference is helping this song to do so well on my chart.

Enough about Leslie Clio. There is a lot more to write about this week’s Top 10. Last week I wrote about songs in a shortlist which are able to reach the Top 10. Three of these songs managed to reach this part. For Sean Paul the “dream of a Top 10 hit on my chart” came true. Since this week he has not only one but two songs in my Top 10. Featured on Sia’s “Cheap thrills” he reached #7 and featured on Jay Sean’s “Make my love go” he reached #8. While Sean Paul has now two Top 10 hits in his pocket Sia and Jay Sean have each one. Last but not least new song in the Top 10 is “Invincible” (#10). For Australian Joe Moore it is also his first hit this region of my chart.

Last week the highest new entry had been outside the Top 70’s. This week there is only one new song which reached my Top 50. It is from a new country singer. Tennesse native Tara Thompson recently released her debut single “Someone to take your place” (#38) and a video for her debut. She described this song as light-hearted with sassy lyrics which is absolutely true. Although this is a break up song from the women’s point of view the lyrics made me smile. “Someone to take your place” is a fresh start into the country scence and I hope that there will be some songs by her in the future which will excite me as this song is doing.

Week 268 – April 16^th, 2016

Due to personal reasons there hasn’t been a review for edition 267. This week I’m back with some words about edition 268 of April 16th. For a third week in a row Gwen Stefani is in the leading position with “Make me like you” (#1). This beautiful song is holding off Adele’s masterpiece “When we were young” (#2) which could also be found in runner’s-up position for a third concecutive week. Adele and Gwen Stefani are rocking my chart now for five weeks and there are only at the beginn of their chart run.

So they should dominate my chart for some more weeks if … Yes there are two songs which could break this domination. First to mention is “Bis es weh tut” (#4, “Until it hurts”). This German gem by Luxuslärm and Max Mutzke is the most beautiful German song in the short 2016. For both “Bis es weh tut” could be the first #1 on my chart and for Max Mutzke it could also be the first #1 with the first chart entry. Since the debut this song is rising fast and “Bis es weh tut” is still getting more airplay on my playlist. The other song which is a possible #1 is “Changes” (#7) by Leslie Clio. “Changes” could be the next #1 from her “Eureka” album. Her first had been “My heart ain’t that broken” (#80) which recently surpased the one-year-mark on my chart. Immediately after this breakthrough song “Be with you” reached #1. And then there had been “All the other fools” and “Eureka” in 2012 as well as this year’s #1 “Damage done” (#11) which just dropped out of the Top 10. So within a year Leslie Clio topped my chart for 19 weeks and “Changes” could expand the time on #1 for an artist.

The Top 5 is closed by former #1 “Hands to myself” (#5) by Selena Gomez. Her follow up “Kill em with kindness” hasn’t found its way on this list, but this song is ready for a debut within the next weeks. “Make my love go” (#6) by Jay Sean feat. Sean Paul was replaced in the Top 5 by “Until it hurts” which makes this song the only song dropping out of the Top 5 this week. “New bohemia” (#8) dropped two spots and it is absolutely in range that this song will leave the Top 10 next week. Since releasing her album “Adesso” it is really hard for Emma to affiliate with her hits from the past. On the other hand “Io di te non ho paura” (#9, “I’m not afraid of you”) is a Top 10 hit. Not bad for a song from an album which isn’t as good as her past two albums. The Top 10 is rounded out with the first Top 10 hit by US country star Cam. “Mayday” (#10) climbed up three spots and reached this part in its 11th week on chart.

Last week’s highest debut was by Swedish act Peter Bjorn & John. Most of you’ll remember them from their biggest hit “Young folks” which isn’t a song I would have charted if I had a chart in this year. They only placed two more songs in the UK chart, but elswhere they had no more hit. Possibly some of you’re fans of the sitcom “Two Broke Girls”. In that case you’ll know another song by them. The title song of this sitcom is the 2nd single “Second chance” of their 2011 album “Gimme some”. Long story short “Second chance” had been their only chart hit on my chart. Back in June 2011 “Second chance” reached #1 after a 15 spot climb in its fifth week on chart. Only one song climbed up more spots to reach #1 which had been “Run run run” by Celeste Buckingham back in 2012. Until last week Peter Bjorn & John had been a one-hit-wonder on my chart, but with debuting “What you talking about?" (#13) they slough off this image.

This week the highest new entry is by well known Austrian singer Christina Stürmer. Recently she announced that she is giving birth of her first child. And since some weeks her new single “Seite an Seite” (#30, “Side by side”) is getting radio airplay. Finally last week this single was uploaded to Spotify and now you could find her new one on my chart. “Seite an Seite” is following the direction of her biggest hits as Mama (Ana Ahabak) or her last year’s smash “Was irgendwie bleibt” (“What remains somehow”). It is a good song which has to grow on me a little bit more, but with some weeks to go this could be her next Top 10 hit on my chart. The only other debut within the Top 50 is also from Austria. Newcomer band “Flowrag” released their debut single “Helden” (#46, “Heros”) and got a fresh start on my chart. It is a nice song and it is absolutely possible that this song will reach my Top 20.

Week 269 – April 23^rd, 2016

Last week it had already indicated. There is a new #1 after three weeks with “Make me like you” (#2) by Gwen Stefani at the top. German band Luxuslärm climbed up three spots with support by German singer Max Mutzke. Their song “Bis es weh tut” (#1, “Until it hurts”) is for both their first #1 on my chart. Until today “Atemlos” (“Breathless”) by Luxuslärm had been their biggest hit on my chart reaching the Top 10 late in 2011 (peak #6). “Bis es weh tut” is a beautiful song about the end of a relatioship and deserves to be #1. All of last week’s Top 3 dropped one spot to make this big climb possible. So you find “When we were young” by Adele at #3 and dance song “Cheap thrills” by Sia feat. Sean Paul at #4. The top half of the Top 10 is closed by Leslie Clio’s “Changes” (#5).

“Changes” is new to the Top 5 so former #1 “Hands to myself” (#6) by Selena Gomez had to leave this part of my chart with a drop of one spot. Also dropping down one spot is “Make my love go” (#7) by Jay Sean feat. Sean Paul. This song is on my chart on its way out of the Top 10 while this song is starting to get some airplay all over Europe. Behind this dance song you can find the highest charting country single. It is “Mayday” (#8) by new country star Cam who had two debuts in this week’s edition. Cam is followed by the only new artist in this week’s Top 10. Peter Bjorn & John are giving their comeback in the Top 10 with “What you talking about” (#9) after topping my chart with “Second chance” back in 2011. The Top 10 is rounded out with Italian star Emma and her latest single “Io di te non ho paura” (#10, “I’m not afraid of you”).

Against The Current are a regular guest on my chart, but they had no Top 50 hit until this week. Over the last week’s they released several promotional songs from their debut album “In our bones”. Unfortunately the first three promotional songs didn’t reach my chart, but the fourth one did. “Forget me now” (#37) isn’t really a typical song for Against The Current, but I like the sound and the refrain is catchy. All in all they managed to outperform all their other singles in the first week with “Forget me now”. This song got a solid debut and should reach my Top 20 at least.

Beside “Forget me now” there are three debuts within the Top 50. One is from Germany, one from New Zealand and one from the USA. Let’s start with the one from our dear neighbours Germany. Cassandra Steen is maybe also known outside Germany. She had some hits in the past with the band Glashaus as “When es Liebe ist” (“If it is love”) back in 2001 or “Haltet die Welt an” (“Stop the world”) back in 2005 or as a solo artist with “Darum leben wir” (“This is why we live”) or her biggest one “Stadt” (“Town”) both from 2009. Since this time it was a little bit quiet around her although she had two charting hits for me over the past year’s since I re-started charting. For “Ich laufe” (#48, “I run”) she teamed up with the German New Age band Fahrenhaidt and singer Vincent Malin who was recently featured on the track “Wenn du schläfst” (“If you sleep”). “Ich laufe” is a beautiful and meaningful song. It is absolutely possible that this song will do well on my chart.

The one from New Zealand is by Broods. If you are following my chart then you’ll know that they got two #1's with “Four walls” (back in 2015) and “Everytime” (back in 2014). So far it is an intersting relationship between me and the songs by Broods. Either their songs reach #1 or I didn’t chart them. So it is up to you to guess how far “Free” (#49) will go in the future, but from my actual point of view I don’t see this song as a #1 song. However, who could predict the future? And the last but no least debut with the Top 50 is an album cut from “Untamed” by Cam. “Hungover on heartache” (#50) is now the 2nd Top 50 hit in this edition.

Week 270 – April 30^th, 2016

There is hardly anything new under the moon. Only nine songs, one of them in the Top 50, made their debut. Let’s get the countdown started with the Top 10 as always. Last week German production “Bis es weh tut” (#1, “Until it hurts”) conquered the top spot. This week Luxuslärm and Max Mutzke increased their airplay time and so they hold off any attack. Therefore Gwen Stefani has to stick around at #2 for a 2nd week in a row with her 1st #1 hit “Make me like you”. New to the podium is Leslie Clio’s latest smash “Changes” (#3). For her Adele had to leave with “When we were young” (#5). Between this songs is “Cheap thrills” (#4) by Sia feat. Sean Paul. Since this week this song is #1 in Austria. They dethroned Alan Walker’s “Faded” after an amazing 12 week run at the top.

The 2nd part of the Top 10 is opened by Swedish act Peter Bjorn & John. Their first single of their latest album “What you talking about” (#6) climbed up three spots in its 4th week on the chart. Is this song ready for peaking at #1? I’m not sure at the moment, because “Bis es weh tut” is really strong at the moment and you shouldn’t forget about Leslie Clio who has a really good run with songs from her “Eureka” album. Next in line is “Make my love go” (#7). Jay Sean and Sean Paul are holding their spot, but I think their Top 10 run will end soon. Then there is Selena Gomez. Her former #1 “Hands to myself” (#8) dropped two spots in its 18th week on chart, but this song is still fighting to be in this part of chart. So you shouldn’t be surprised if Selena Gomez will be in the Top 10 for some more weeks. This week’s Top 10 is rounded out with two country songs. Since several weeks Cam is singing “Mayday” (#9) in the Top 10. This week it was a really tough decision, but “Mayday” is still the highest charting country song. “Mayday” is followed by Carrie Underwood’s “Renegade runaway” (#10).

For the highest debut you’ve to go down to #50. There you’ll find “Vagabond” by US act “WILD”. This trio based in Los Angeles released “Vagabond” at the end of August 2015. Eight months after releasing this debut single they got their debut on my chart. “Vagabond” is a nice pop song with a good chorus. Sure it lasted long that I chart them, but I just recently discovered this song and who cares if charting a song late? There have been several examples on my chart and why not give this fresh new band a chance.

Week 271 – Mai 7^th, 2016

Well what to say? German band Luxuslärm is still leading with “Bis es weh tut” (#1, “Until it hurts”) with support by Max Mutzke. For three weeks now they are topping my chart and even though German Leslie Clio climbed up one spot with “Changes” (#2) it will be hard to thrust them from the top. Last week at #2 this week at #3 and so the signs are clear that “Make me like you” by Gwen Stefani has to leave this part of the chart within the next weeks. Beside “Bis es weh tut” is “Cheap thrills” (#4) by Sia feat. Sean Paul the only non-mover in the Top 10. The Top 5 is closed by newbie “What you talking about?” (#5) by Peter Bjorn & John.

Peter Bjorn & John changed their spot with Adele. She has done well so far with two #1 songs from her “25” album, but the time couldn’t prevent that “When we were young” (#6) had to drop one spot this week. Directly behind this former #1 is the new single by Austrian star Christina Stürmer. “Seite an Seite” (#7, “Side by side”) stormed into the Top 10 with a climb of seven spots. This song is now four weeks on the chart and everything is wrought for reaching a spot in the Top 3 which is no uncharted territory for her. Christina Stürmer is followed by Jay Sean feat. Sean Paul’s “Make my love go” (#8) and by Carrie Underwood’s “Renegade runaway” (#9). Writing about Carrie Underwood I’ve to point out that she has now two songs in the Top 10. New in this section is “Church bells” (#10) which climbed up 10 spots to reach a spot in the Top 10. Despite to the fact that “Church bells” is in its fifth week on chart it could reach the Top 5 in the future.

Nine songs gave their debut in this week’s edition. Last week there had been one debut in the Top 50, but this week the highest debut isn’t near the Top 60. You’ve to go all the way down to #78 for this highest debut which is an album cut by MisterWives. Their song “Box around the sun” (#78) is leading the debuts and another album cut “Imagination infatuation” (#79) by them is completing the two highest debuts in edition 271. Other new entries are “Glück” (#85, “Luck”) by Berge, “Wasted days” (#86) by Zibra, “Leave me” (#92) by SKIES, “All for nothing” (#93) by KI, “Do what you want” (#95) by High Tyde, “Jasmine” (#96) by The Magic Gang and “No invitation” (#97) by Brandyn Burnette.

Week 272 – Mai 14^th, 2016

Since several weeks German band Luxuslärm and German singer Max Mutzke are shining bright from the top of my chart. This week is no exception. For the fourth time “Bis es weh tut” (#1, “Until it hurts”) is my favourite song of the week. They keep “Changes” (#2) by Leslie Clio at bay. “Changes” is a very good song from a very strong album and would absolutely deserve to be #1, but “Bis es weh tut” is a little more emotional and it is possible that this song will surpass the six week mark at the top. The last spot at the podium goes to Gwen Stefani. Her 2nd single “Make me like you” (#3) from her solo album is now among the longest charting Top 10 hit, but it is hard for her to hold a spot in the Top 3 because of the concurrence. So Peter Bjorn & John with “What you talking about?” (#4) and Christina Stürmer with “Seite an Seite” (#5, “Side by side”) are fighting for Gwen Stefani’s spot.

After five weeks in the Top 5 Sia and Sean Paul had to leave with “Cheap thrills” (#5). It is still a good song, but it is struggling a little bit at the moment. Next in line is country star Carrie Underwood. With one of her current singles she is climbing up & up. “Church bells” (#7) is a very interesting song with a good hook line and a very interesting story. Is this a song for #1 in the future? First of all Carrie Underwood had a #1 on my chart back in 2012 with “Good girl” which ended as #3 in my year end review. So she has a real chance for reaching the top spot for a 2nd chance although you can’t really compare these songs. Second I really think this particular song is one of the best songs of her latest album “Storyteller” and I love this dark lyris. So why not give this the last push in the next weeks? For the next two songs in my Top 10 it is going down. Former #1 “When we were young” (#8) by Adele dropped two spots and “Make my love go” (#9) by Jay Sean feat. Sean Paul dropped one. Last but not least to mention is the new #10. Finally Canadian singer Tyler Shaw grapped his first Top 10 hit with “Wicked” (#10).

As last week edition #272 is a very calm edition. There are only nine new entries and for a 2nd time in a row the highest debut can be found outside the Top 60. Last week US alternative act MisterWives had the top two debuts with album cuts from “Our own house”. This week US star Taylor Swift has the top two debuts with album cuts from “1989”. The highest debut is “Clean” (#73) followed by “I know places” (#74). These are the last two debuts from “1989” because of the fact that I’ve know charted all songs from this album. Other debuts are “Running towards the tide” (#89) by Team Panda, “Pretty little liar” (#94) by My, “Arms of another” (#96) by Marsicans, “Native” (#97) by KYKO, “Your heart is a weapon” (#98) by Pop Etc, “Sophia” (#99) by Van Damsel and “Don’t save me” (#100) by Native People.

Week 273 – Mai 21^st, 2016

With deep emotional lyrics German act Luxuslärm and singer Max Mutzke are convincing me since several weeks. Now they are #1 for a fifth week in a row with “Bis es weh tut” (#1, “Until it hurts”). This year only one other song also reached the five week mark which had been Leslie Clio’s “Damage done” (#13). Leslie Clio on the other hand is sticking around at the runner’s up position. “Changes” (#2) can be found in this position for third week in a row. I’m still sure that “Changes” could reach my #1 spot, but with Austrian Christina Stürmer there is a fresh and new sound behind her. Christina’s “Seite an Seite (#3, “Side by side”) did the next step with a climb of two spots. So the podium sees now two songs in German and an English one interpreted by a German artist caught in the middle. Swedish act Peter Bjorn & John hold their spot with “What you talking about?” (#4) and former #1 “Make me like you” (#5) by Gwen Stefani dropped two spots.

The 2nd part of the Top 10 starts with a position change. Carrie Underwood’s “Church bells” (#6) climbed up one while “Cheap thrills” (#7) by Sia feat. Sean Paul dropped one. Behind these two songs the only new song in my Top 10 can be found. It is by Kelly Clarkson. Her not yet official single “Let your tears fall” (#8) sprinted up the chart and landed directly in the Top 10 in its 8th week on chart. At the bottom of the Top 10 are Tyler Shaw’s “Wicked” (#9) and Adele’s former #1 “When we were young” (#10).

After some weeks of new entry debuts in the lower section of my chart there is a debut in the Top 30. This highest debut is by Adele. Her 3rd single from “25” is “Send my love (to your new lover)” (#68), but this one isn’t the one I mean although it gave its debut this week. It is “Water under the bridge” (#28) which is one of my favourites from “25”. “Water under the bridge” has more tempo than her previous singles and for me this song is at the same level as “I’ll be waiting” from “21” which had been a #1 for me back in 2011. #28 is a solid start, but I expect more from this particular song and maybe “Water under the bridge” will reach my Top 10 soon.

Beside Adele’s “Water under the bridge” there is a 2nd song which got its debut in the Top 50. It is Elle King’s third single from “Love stuff”. “America’s sweetheart” is a nice pop song with country pop/rock impact. This one could be my favourite by her and it could outperform her biggest hit on my chart “Playing for keeps” which peaked at #15 in December 2012. The start was a little bit mildly. On the other had it is giving this song a lot of space for persuade in the later run.

Other debuts are “Il paradiso non esiste” (#66, “Paradise doesn’t exist”), “How to love” (#67) by Cash Cash feat. Sofia Reyes, “Shut the lights” (#69) by We Are Magnetic, “Anchor” (#70) by Cailee Rae, “Dear life” (#79) by Delta Goodrem and “Losing the love” (#80) by Tini.

Week 274 – Mai 28^th, 2016

No surprise at the top of my chart. For a sixth week “Bis es weh tut” (#1, “Until it hurts”) by Luxuslärm feat. Max Mutzke is topping my chart. This is now the longest strike at #1 in 2016, but the question is: “Could they do better?”. The answer will be given next week. While “Bis es weh tut” is shining from the top “Changes” (#2) by Leslie Clio has to wait another week. Also in the waiting position is “Seite an Seite” (#3, “Side by side”) by Christina Stürmer which means that the Top 3 remains the same as last week. New at #4 is “Church bells” by Carrie Underwood. The Top 5 is closed by “What you talking about?” (#5) by Peter Bjorn & John.

The bottom half of my Top 10 is opened by Kelly Clarkson. The album cut “Let your tears fall” (#6) climbed up two spots. She is followed by former #1 “Make me like you” (#7) Gwen Stefani. Apropos “Make me like you”. This is the last of six songs performed by an artist who had a #1 song directly placed behind “Bis es weh tut”. Next in line is “Best fake smile” (#8). Last week James Bay peaked at #12 with this song and now it is his first Top 10 hit. Congrats to James Bay for reaching the Top 10. “Best fake smile” isn’t the only new song in the Top 10. The 2nd new song in this part of my chart is “Hungover on heartache” (#9). After a climb of 15 spots Cam reached the Top 10 for a 2nd time. Her 1st Top 10 hit “Mayday” (#31) dropped out of the Top 20 in this edition. Last but not least in the Top 10 “Cheap thrills” (#10) by Sia feat. Sean Paul.

Since weeks this is the first time that Adele has no Top 10 hit. Her former #1 “When we were young” (#12) dropped two spots and so she is out. On the other hand she won’t be out for long, because “Water under the bridge” (#13) climbed up 15 spots and is now placed behind “When we were young”. You should expect her in my Top 10 by next week with this beautiful song. “Water under the bridge” is followed by the highest debut which is by my favourite artist. Anouk’s 2nd (or 3rd which depens on how you count) single from her new album “Queen for a day” finally got its debut. “Run away together” (#14) is now the highest debut since April 9th when Peter Bjorn & John debuted at #16 with “What you talking about?”.

“Run away together” has been released several weeks before, but due to lack of time I had no time to listened to new albums – “Queen for a day” has been released by the end of March. But this week I bought this album and what should I say. I absolutely love this one. It is way better than her previous two albums and for me “Dirty girl” (#81, peak at #8) is the weakest song on this album. Since 2011 I’ve charted every song from her last three albums “To get her together”, “Sad singalong songs” and “Paradise and back again”. “To get her together” had six songs in the Top 10 including four #1 hits and three songs which just missed the Top 20. “Sad singalong songs” was a disappointment for me, but it had two songs in the Top 10 including one #1 hit and two more songs in the Top 20. With “Paradise and back again” she had a good comeback which came along with six songs in the Top 10 including two #1 hits, two more songs in the Top 20 and several songs which just missed the Top 20. So in my eyes “Queen for a day” is better than every mentioned album. So what could you expect when “Dirty girl” is the weakest song on the album? Lot’s of Top 10 hits at least and maybe more #1's than in her “To get her together” area. By the way this album has already a #1 hit. “New day” – was one of my favourite songs last year – had been released as a regular single from her best of album and is now the third track on “Queen for a day”. This could be her year by dominating my chart.

“Run away together” isn’t the only debut in my Top 50. The other is by an Australian girl who had a hit when she was featured on the cover “You don’t own me”. Now she released her new one and with this she finally got her debut on my chart. “Hell of a girl” (#39) got a solid debut and should do well in the near future.

Other debuts are “The fighter” (#58) by Keith Urban feat. Carrie Underwood, “Find me” (#59) by Jun Hyo Seong, “White lightning” (#72) and “Ashes” (#73) by Madi Diaz, “Go ahead and break my heart” (#82) by Blake Shelton feat. Gwen Stefani and “Glowing in the dark” (#90) by The Girl and The Dreamcatcher.

Week 275 – June 4^th, 2016

It is done. After a six week strike Luxuslärm and Max Mutzke dropped one spot from #1 with their song “Bis es weh tut” (#2, “Until it hurts”). They were replaced by German Leslie Clio. “Changes” (#1) is her 2nd #1 in 2016, but I think “Changes” won’t stay at the top as long as “Damage done” did in the past. The podium is complete with “Seite an Seite” (#3, “Side by side”) by Austrian Christina Stürmer. In Austria this song is getting more an airplay hit than a hit in the chart. Still at #4 is the country hit “Church bells” by Carrie Underwood. “Church bells” is out of her “Storyteller” album which has been the 2nd country album I bought. The first had been LeAnn Rimes “Sitting on top of the world” and the 3rd one is Cam’s “Untamed”. With a straight shot into the Top 5 Anouk landed another big hit. “Run away together” (#5) reminds me to her older albums and if this song is rising as fast as it did in its 2nd week it should be my #1 very soon.

Last week Cam reached the Top 10 for the first time with “Hungover on heartache” (#6). This week this song climbed up three spots and is knocking heavily at the door to the Top 5. Right behind you can find Adele. Two weeks ago “Water under the bridge” (#7) gave its debut and this week it sprinted into the top song area. As Anouk’s song “Water under the bridge” is a #1 candidate. Where songs are which climb upwards there are songs which climb downwards. For Swedish act Peter Bjorn & John the time in the Top 10 seems to end. Their song “What you talking about?” (#5) dropped three spots. After only one week in the Top 10 James Bay is one its way out with “Best fake smile” (#9) and a drop of one spot. The Top 10 is closed by Kelly Clarkson’s “Let your tears fall” (#10).

In the past few weeks there have been more weeks with debuts outside the Top 50 than inside. This week is confirming this trend. The highest new entry is by a well known artist. Ariana Grande had some very big hits for me including the #1 “99 Problem”. Her 2nd album “Dangerous woman” couldn’t hold the expectations and so it mostly flopped for me. “Focus” peaked at #54. “Dangerous woman” never charted and so her start with “Into you” (#58) is relatively good. Not perfect, but good. It is a nice song which could do better than her previous singles from this album, but at Top 10 hit is maybe out of reach.

Other debuts are “Hear my call baby” (#79), “Flower drum song” (#80) and “Harold Bloom” (#81) by Cold War Kids, “Tears” (#89) by Clean Bandit feat. Week 276 – June 11^th, 2016

This week had been a very slow week despite to the fact that I hadn’t much time to listen to music. On the other hand there is a new #1. Austrian superstar Christina Stürmer got her 2nd #1 with “Seite an Seite” (“Side by side”) following her 2013 smash “Millionen Lichter” (“Million lights”). Generally the Top 5 was mixed. New in the runner’s-up position is country by Carrie Underwood. Her song “Church bells” (#2) climbed up two spots and it maybe could do the last step next week. Also new at the podium is Anouk. For “Run away together” (#3) it is only a matter of time when it takes over. While these songs are getting new peaks former #1’s are going down the chart. Last week’s #1 “Changes” (#4) by Leslie Clio dropped three spots and “Bis es weh tut” (#5, “Until it hurts”) is now rounding out the Top 5.

The 2nd part of the Top 10 shows how slow this week really is. Four songs didn’t move. So Cam’s “Hungover on heartache” (#6), Adele’s “Water under the bridge” (#7), Peter, Bjorn & John’s “What you talking about” (#8) and James Bay’s “Best fake smile” (#9) hold their spots. Only one song is new in this part of my chart. But to be honest new is an elastic term. This song had been in the Top 10 before. After a week of absence Gwen Stefani is returning with “Make me like you” (#10). It’s been a while ago when a song re-entered the Top 10.

Although most of the songs climbed up less than five spots there are some new entries within the Top 50. The highest debut is by a well known artist on my chart. There are some new players in the music business and Amazon is one of them. They released an album and playlist “Songs of summer”. Most of the songs on this album are covers, but there are several new songs on it two. Four songs out of this album got there debut this week including the highest debut which is by Kate Voegele. This year Kate Voegele had an exclusive release of some live material including her duet “When the stars go blue” with Tyler Hilton which I’ve not got. So her new one “Must be summertime” (#28) is the first new material I’m charting this year from her. “Must be summertime” has written Kate Voegele all over the song. Since I first listened to songs by her five years ago I absolutely like her songs and “Must be summertime” is no exception. Therefore “Must be summertime” should reach the Top 10 very soon.

Summer itself is a good keyword. The 2nd best new entry is another song about summer. This time it is by Cassadee Pope. You remember her best from her Top 5 hit “I wish I could break your heart” back in 2014. Two years after this big success on my chart she is returning with her “Summer EP”. The first single out of this EP is the title track “Summer”. This song is impressing with a very catchable refrain. It had been a though decision between “Summer” and “Must be summertime” for the highest new debut. Over the next week’s we all will see which of these two songs will win the race for the song of summer.

Other new entries are “Weekend” (#43) by The Kin, “The boys of summer” (#61) by LOLO, “Falling to pieces” (#68) and “Bad eyes” (#69) by Leslie Clio, “Secrets” (#91) by Sublime With Rome, “Hundred miles” (#92) by Yall feat. Week 277 – June 18^th, 2016

For the third week in a row there is a new #1. Last week Austrian Christina Stürmer took over with her beautiful “Seite an Seite” (#3, “Side by side), but this week she dropped two spots. For her US country star Carrie Underwood took over. She also scores her 2nd #1 on my chart with “Church bells”. Will she stay longer at the top? I’m not sure, because directly behind her is Anouk. Her song “Run away together” (#2) is only in its 4th week on chart and so this song should be #1 soon. Generally there was no stone left standing in this week’s Top 10. Two songs are getting their 1st appearance within the Top 5. First we’ve another country tune. It is “Hungover on heartache” (#4) by Cam. She is new to the scene, but her album “Untamed” is very good and strong. You should have noticed that about the fact that she had some Top 10 hits out of this album so far. Next in line is the chart proven Adele. Her promotional single “Water under the bridge” (#5) climbed up two spots to reach the Top 5.

While Cam and Adele are among this week’s winners Leslie Clio and Luxuslärm feat. Max Mutzke aren’t. Their former #1’s “Changes” (#6) and “Bis es weh tut” (#7) dropped out of the Top 5 this week. These two songs are followed by two new songs in my Top 10. Both songs are by Selena Gomez. For the first time since “Kill em with kindness” (#7) can be found on my chart it outperformed her other song “Me & the rhythm” (#8). One spot down is “What you talking about” (#10) by Swedish act Peter Bjorn & John.

So much for the Top 10. Let’s see what happened to the rest of my chart. Near to the Top 10 is Aussie girl Grace with “Hell of a girl” (#12). This song climbed up 10 spots, but isn’t the greatest gainer of the week. This award also didn’t go to last week’s top debuts “Must be summertime” (#20) by Kate Voegele and “Summer” (#21) by Cassadee Pope. You can find the greatest gainer within the Top 50. “Send my love (to your new love)” (#37) by Adele got this award after climbing up 14 spots which also LOLO’s cover “The boys of summer” (#47) did.

Looking for the highest new entry you’ve to scroll down. This song debut nearly missed the Top 80, but landed at #79. The highest debut is an album cut from the self titled album “The Wild Feathers”. This week The Wild Feathers debuted with three songs which are “I can have you” (#79), “Tall boots” (#80) and “I’m alive” (#81). Week 278 – June 25^th, 2016

Guess what? There is a new #1 on my chart. The change at the top can’t be stopped at the moment. And so Anouk is scoring her 10th #1 with “Run away together”. Anouk is the first artist on my chart to reach this landmark. With this song she replaced Carrie Underwood’s “Church bells” (#2) at the top which dropped one spot. Still at #3 is Austrian Christina Stürmer with “Seite an Seite” (“Side by side”). The next two songs in the Top 5 switched their positions. So Adele’s “Water under the bridge” is now at #4 while the other country hymn in my Top 5 “Hungover on heartache” by Cam dropped one to #5.

The lower half of my Top 10 sees some position changes too and one new entry to the Top 10. After some weeks of dropping German duet “Bis es weh tut” (#6, “Until it hurts”) by Luxuslärm feat. Max Mutzke stopped the trend by climbing up one spot. In the fairway of “Bis es weh tut” is Selena Gomez with “Kill em with kindness” (#7) which also climbed up one spot. The other way round goes former #1 “Changes” (#8) by Leslie Clio. She dropped two spots and all signs are showing that this song will not be found in next week’s Top 10. The only song which didn’t move in the Top 10 was “Me & the rhythm” (#9) by Selena Gomez. Now we come to the only new song in this part of my chart. It is a song by an Aussie girl. Grace had a hit with a cover of the Lesley Gore classic “You don’t own me”. This song didn’t well for me and wasn’t found on my chart. But now she entered my Top 10 with her own song “Hell of a girl” (#10). This song is in its 5th week on chart and #10 shouldn’t be the song’s peak.

Let’s go to this week’s new entries. Only six new songs found their way to my chart. The highest new entry is “Perfect stranger” (#58) by Jonas Blue feat. JP Cooper. For DJ Jonas Blue “Perfect stranger” is his 2nd hit after “Fast car” which is a cover of Tracy Chapman’s classic. Personally I prefer Tracy Chapman’s original version, so that his cover didn’t found it’s way to my chart. “Perfect stranger” is a good song, but at the moment I don’t know where its journey will end. This song should reach my Top 50 or Top 40, but if this song will go up higher depends on my factors and so it is hard to predict.

The 2nd best new entry is by Egowelle feat. Soundmietzen. Their song “Meine Welt” (#80, “My world”) has originally been released back in summer 2015, but nobody cared about this song. Some weeks ago they re-released this song and their new video for this song was featured on the youtube channel “filtr Germany”. So they are getting now some attention, but I doubt that this song will be a big hit. Not far behind “Meine Welt” Larsito’s new single “Am Leben” (#82, “Alive”) got its debut. Larsito is part of the German band Calcha Candela who had their biggest hit back in 2007 and 2009. Other new entries are “Infinity” (#83) by Mohombi, “Summertime” (#84) by Tina feat. Gyptian and “Summer on you” (#93) by Sam Feldt & Lucas & Steve feat. Wulf.
