Week 251 – December 19^th, 2015

After celebrating the 250th edition of my chart I’m here to present the 251st edition. This week with no new #1. Leslie Clio is still the reigning champion with her wonderful “Eureka” (#2). Hell would have to freeze over, before Leslie Clio isn’t my #1 artist of the year 2015, but you’ll learn more in my year-end review which will start in about one and a half week. It possibly is “Eureka’s” last week at the top, because “Nichts” (#2, “Nothing”) by Tagtraeumer is holding the pressure high. This week they climbed up two spots and now they are in the runners-up position. Adele’s comeback single “Hello” (#3) dropped one spot in its 8th week on chart. I still love this song, but it lost a little bit of its magic, but hey this song is in the Top 3! For French singer Sindy the upward trend goes on. Her “Je m’en fous” (#4, “I don’t care”) climbed up two spots which brings her the first Top 5 hit with her first charting hit. At the bottom of the Top 5 Taylor Swift can be found. “Wildest dreams” (#5) dropped two spots.

After spending two weeks at #5 “The first time” (#6) by Madi Diaz dropped one spot. This electronic pop song is followed by two songs from Austria. The first one is the former #1 “Feiah fonga” (#7, “Catching fire”) by Krautschädl. The 2nd one is “Vergiss mein Nicht” (#8, “Forget-me-not”) by Solarkreis. For Solarkreis “Vergiss mein nicht” is the bands first Top 10 hit. This song is super catchy and deserves the climb of seven spots into this week’s Top 10. The Top 10 is rounded out with two songs which peaked at #6. MisterWives’ “Best I can do” (#9) and Selana Gomez’s “Same old love” (#10) dropped one spot.

This week hadn’t been very busy. Only four songs gave their debut on my chart and you’ve nearly scroll down the whole chart to find them. Three songs are album cuts by Kelly Clarkson’s album “Piece by Piece”. As I wrote in a review before I think that the “Stronger” album has been better, but nevertheless she had several Top 10 hits from this album too. Not to forget the #1 smash “Heartbeat song”. This week some of the weaker songs gave their debut. The highest is her cooperation with John Legend. “Run run run” is in at #72. Then there are “Take you high” (#88) and “Bad reputation” (#89). The highest debuting regular single is by Austrian indie pop band Farewell Dear Ghost. Their latest single “We were wild once” snatched the last spot in this week’s countdown and is in at #100.

Week 252 – December 26^th, 2015

Things slowed down in the week before X-mas. This week sees some interesting new entries and a new #1. Let’s start from the beginning. Austrian top act at the moment Tagtraeumer are scoring their fourth #1 out of five Top 10 hits with “Nichts” (“Nothing”). “Nichts” impresses with brilliant lyrics even if the refrain isn’t as good as the one from “Brücken zum Mond” (#46). Tagtraeumer took the #1 while French singer Sindy continued climbing up very fast by reaching #2 with “Je m’en fous” (“I don’t care”). At the moment I can’t exclude that Sindy will grab her first #1 by next week and the first one in French too. The only piece of a puzzle which remained at the same spot as last week has been Adele’s wonderful “Hello” (#3). This leads me to last week's #1. Leslie Clio dominated my chart for the whole year, but “Eureka” ’s (#4) drop from #1 is her biggest this year. She will be able to get over it, because it has been an amazing year for her on my chart. Then there is for a 2nd week in a row at #5 Taylor Swift’s “Wildest dreams”.

Are Solarkreis the next big thing in Austria? In my opinion they’ve the chance to follow up Tagtraeumer. Their first smash “Kumm mit kumm aussi” showed their potential which they played off with their recent hit “Vergiss mein nicht” (#6, “Forget-me-not”). Comparing the sales between Tagtraeumer and Solarkreis they are far away. For comparison “Vergiss mein nicht” only charted for one week in Austria and the general airplay is very disappointing. But maybe they get their breakout next year. Behind Solarkreis you can find Madi Diaz. He recent Top 10 hit “The first time” (#7) dropped one spot. Madi Diaz is followed by the highest ranked new song in this week’s Top 10 which is Taylor Swifts’ “New romantics”. “1989” is producing more and more Top 10 hits for me and it seems that “1989” is at least as good as represented on my chart than her previous album “Red”. The 2nd new song within the Top 10 is the anti war song “Nur ein Lied” (#10, “Just a song”) by Alex Diehl. Caught between Taylor Swift and Alex Diehl is former #1 “Feiah fonga” (#9, “Catching fire”) by Austrian band Krautschädl.

Leslie Clio’s run at the top ended this week, but there is one song by her which is sprinting up the chart. In its 4th week “Damage done” another song about the love which didn’t work well climbed up 11 spots. Above I wrote that Sindy has a real chance for getting the first #1 in French, but you shouldn’t forget about the one and only Leslie Clio and her domination in 2015. “Damage done” has everything to follow up in the footsteps of “My heart ain’t that broken” (#47) or “All the other fools” (#28). Once more this song is captivating with brilliant lyrics and associations as well as a very catchy refrain. For the first time in years I’ve the feeling that this is a song which could reach the top spot from outside the Top 10. The only two songs which did the same had been “Run run run” (19-1) by Celeste Buckingham in 2012 and “Second chance” (16-1) by Peter, Bjorn & John in 2011. But keep in mind that my predictions aren’t always working well.

The highest debut can be found outside the Top 30. It is a song from the TV series “Nashville”. With “Black roses” (#32) Australian Clare Bowen is interpreting one of the most emotional songs in this show. I always liked her voice and I think this is far her best song. If it works as well as I believe this could be her first Top 10 hit on my chart and maybe “Black roses” can outperform Aubrey Peeples’ “Gonna get even” (#17). One spot behind I’m debuting a song which I know since weeks. It is “New bohemia” (#33) by Transviolet. Over the last weeks I charted the bands first singles “Bloodstream” and “Girls your age”, but “New bohemia” is my favourite so far. The third debut in the Top 50 is by Louane. Louane has a big hit with “Avenir” ("Future") around Europe. I personally don’t like this song, but I can understand why this song is a hit. Personally I prefer her non-album single “Nos secrets” (#50, “Our secrets”) which contains a small part with English lyrics, but that’s not the reason why I’m charting this song. Similar to “Je m’en fous” the refrain is very catchy and this time I like the melody of the song too. My French isn’t as good to understand every single word so I’ve to look over the lyrics while listening, but that doesn’t matter because I don’t understand every word in English songs too, although my English is better.

Other new songs are “Wenn du schläfst” (#61, “While you’re sleeping”) by Max + Johann feat. Vincent Malin, “Fire” (#62) by Rae Garvey, “Don’t put dirt on my grave just yet” (#63) by Hayden Panettiere, “Last goodbye” (#64) and “Looking for love” (#65) by Anouk, “Say love” (#92) by JoJo, “Dei Lebn” (#99, “Your life”) by Gnackwatschn and “Lights will guide me” (#100) by Fahrenhaidt feat. Amanda Pedersen.

Week 253 – January 2^nd, 2016

2016 starts in the same way 2015 ended. An Austrian band is still at #1. The next heart breaking song by Tagtraeumer “Nichts” (#1, “Nothing”) is holding the top spot for a 2nd week in a row, but the end is near. French singer Sindy failed to do the last step to get her 1st #1 with “J m’en fous” (#2, “I don’t care”). If there won’t be Leslie Clio behind her with “Damage done” (#3) the chance for reaching #1 would be better. Last week I wrote that “Damage done” could be the first #1 after spending the week before outside my Top 10. This week “Damage done” climbed up all the way to #3, but for her next #1 Leslie Clio has to wait. In the meanwhile Adele goes down one spot with “Hello” (#6). The Top 5 is rounded out with the next Austrian band in the Top 5. Solarkreis and their song “Vergiss mein Nicht” (#5, “Forget-me-not”) climbed up one spot and prevented Taylor Swift to reach another Top 5 song.

But forbearance is not acquittance. While “New romantics” (#6) failed to reach the Top 5 it climbed up two spots which is the most notable climb within the Top 10. All others are droppers except one song. Behind Taylor Swift is former #1 “Eureka” (#7) by Leslie Clio which brings her up to two Top 10 hits this week. Nothing new for her, but it is worth to mention. Taylor Swift also has two songs in this week’s Top 10. For “Wildest dreams” (#8) the downwards trend is holding on. This song is in its 13th week on chart so that she will deal with it. The last up-climbing song in the Top 10 is “Nur ein Lied” (#9, “Just a song”) by Alex Diehl. The Top 10 is closed with “The first time” (#10) by Madi Diaz.

Outside the Top 10 you will find some notable climbers. Let’s start with this week's greatest gainer. German DJ’s Max + Johan worked with singer Vincent Malin. Their song “Wenn du schläfst” (#28, “While you’re sleeping”) sprinted up the chart with a climb of 33 spots. “Wenn du schläfst” is a beautiful song about the fear for losing the girl after they spent the first night together. Then there is “Monster lead me home” (#19) by Sara Hartman. The US-singer is living in Berlin at the moment and this is her first official single. In this song she is describing her feelings leaving NY for Berlin. It is a wonderful song and should gain more attention. And I shouldn’t to forget about another German love song. Berlin based duo 48 Stunden released their non-album single “Septembermorgen” (#18, “September morning”) and it seems that they have the hang on it. With a climb of 11 spots they can celebrate their first hit in the Top 20.

Beside these major climbers this week had been calm. Only five songs entered my chart and the highest is in at #42. It is by Tove Lo. Finally her latest single “Moments” got its debut on my chart. Following my chart you’ll know that she had several hits in my Top 20 from her “Queen of the clouds” album and “Moments” should also do well. “Moments” hadn’t been her only debut this week. Two more songs from this album are also giving their debut. Scrolling down you will find “The way that I am” (#57) and “Got love” (#58). Caught between the debuts by Tove Lo is Selena Gomez. I recently mentioned in the year-end review that I finally bought her album “Revival”. I really like the style of this album, although there are some weaker songs on it. “Hands to myself” (#46) is a good song and we all will find out how fast I will got over this song, because this song is different to her others on this album in the style and the way she is singing here. The last but not least debut is by Lauren Alaina. “Next boyfriend” reached a spot in the Top 50 and left this week. Certainly she returned with her new one “History” (#95).

Week 254 – January 9^th, 2016

There is a new #1. Who’d not have seen it coming? Leslie Clio took over with “Damage done” (#1). It’s her fifth #1 from her “Eureka” album. There is no other album which produced so much #1’s for me. Last week’s #1 “Nichts” (“Nothing”) dropped one and is now the first haunter. One spot up is Adele. After dropping out of the Top 3 “Hello” is returning in its 11th week on chart. This brings me to the “biggest loser” in this part. Over the last week’s I speculated that Sindy could climb up to #1 with “Je m’en fous” (#4, “I don’t care”), but this week all speculations are ending with the drop of two spots. So I’ve to wait once more for a #1 in French. The Top 5 is closed by Taylor Swift. Her latest hit from her album (for me) “New romantics” (#5) did the final step and climbed up one spot.

The 2nd part of the Top 10 sees two new entries. But first things first. Austrian Solarkreis had to leave the Top 5 after only one week with “Vergiss mein nicht” (“Forget-me-not”). This song is followed by the third highest song in German. “Nur ein Lied” (#7, “Just a song”) by German Alex Diehl climbed up two spots with his song for piece. Then there is the only song which didn’t move within the Top 10. It is “Wildest dream” (#8) by Taylor Swift. Here we are now by the songs which celebrate their first week in the Top 10. Let’s welcome Madeline Juno. With her song “Vertigo” (#9) she reached a spot in this part of my chart after a three spot climb. And next is Carrie Underwood. For her a long absent time ended this week. “Heartbeat” (#10) is her 2nd Top 10 hit and this song follows her #1 smash “Good girl” which topped my chart back in 2012.

As last week there aren’t many new entries. The highest debut that can be found outside the Top 50 is by Hailee Stainfeld. Her 2nd single “You’re such a” (#60) is her first chart entry. It is a nice track, but I don’t know how far this song will go. Directly behind are two more album cuts by MisterWives. The first one is the ballad “Coffins” (#61). I like this song with a dark touch and I’m sure they will return in the Top 10 with this song. Her other debut is “No need for dreaming” (#2). This song about being in love hasn’t the positive sound that other songs on their album have, but I love it. Other debuts are “Get over me” (#84) by Nick Carter feat. Avril Lavigne and “Louder” (#100) by Kid Karate.

Week 255 – January 16^th, 2016

The Top 10 were shaken slightly with some small position moves. Still at the summit thrones Leslie Clio. The song about a non working relationship is holding the top spot for a 2nd week. “Damage done” is followed by “Nichts” (#2, “Nothing”). Austrian top act Tagtraeumer are also holding their spot for a 2nd week after they dropped one spot last week. New in the Top 3 is “New romantics” (#3) by Taylor Swift. “New romantics” drew equal with “Wildest dreams” (#11) which also peaked at #3. At the moment Adele is in an on off relationship with my Top 3. It lasted only one week and now she dropped out again with “Hello” (#4). The Top 5 is closed by another Austrian band. Solarkreis returned after one week of absence with “Vergiss mein nicht” (#5, “Forget-me-not”).

Where winners are there are also “losers”. French singer Sindy dropped two spots with her incredible “Je m’en fous” (#6, “I don’t care”). Although dropping two spots “Je m’en fous” had a good chart run so far. Next in the Top 10 is Alex Diehl. His song “Nur ein Lied” (#7, “Just a song”) is holding its peak for a 2nd week. “Nur ein Lied” is the first of three songs by German singers in a row. The 2nd is “Vertigo” (#8) by Madeline Juno and the 3rd one is by 48 Stunden. For them “Septembermorgen” (#9, “September morning”) is the bands first Top 10 hit after some minor hits back in 2014. Last but no least in the Top 10 is “Heartbeat” (#10) by Carrie Underwood which didn’t move this week.

Nine songs gave their debut this week. The highest debuts are album cuts by Madi Diaz. “Pictures” gives its debut at #58 and is followed by “Wide” at #59. Both songs are no actual singles from her album “Phantom”. The highest official single debut is by US country star Sam Hunt. His break up song “Break up in a small town” (#82) got its debut weeks after this song was released in the US. Country music isn’t so popular in Europa which maybe explains it a little bit why I’m so late with this song.

Other debuts are “I ain’t living without your love” (#91) and “Hennessee” (#96) by Jonathan Jackson, Sam Palladio & Chaley Rose, “Ich bleibe” (#92, “I stay”) by Adesse, “Touch” (#93) by Pia Mia, “Come find me” (#94) by Clare Bowen and “Danke” (#97, “Thank you”) by Gnackwatschn.

Week 256 – January 23^rd, 2016

Basically this has been a very boring week when I look over my chart. The Top 10 only sees one (!) position change and a new entry and speaking of new entries there are seven this week and five of these debuts are by Anouk. But let’s start with the Top songs of the week. Leslie Clio’s “Damage done” (#1) is shining bright from the top spot for a third consecutive week. Once more she is stopping Tagtraeumer for returning to #1 with “Nichts” (#2, “Nothing”). And again at #3 is “New romantics” by Taylor Swift. While the whole Top 3 remained the same the other songs in my Top 5 are also holding their spots. So you can find “Hello” by Adele and “Vergiss mein nicht” (“Forget-me-not”) by Solarkreis once more at #4 and #5.

It goes on in the same direction. Last week French singer Sindy dropped out of my Top 5. This week she is holding her position with “Je m’en fous” (#6, “I don’t care”). Finally here is the first change in my Top 10. Two spots up for German band 48 Stunden with their first Top 10 hit “Septembermorgen” (#7, “September morning”). They switched place with another German singer. Alex Diehl’s song about piece “Nur ein Lied” (#9, “Just a song”) dropped two spots. Caught between these position movers is Madeline Juno with “Vertigo” (#8). Now I can present you the only new song in my Top 10. It is by Aubrey Peeples who had a Top 10 hit before out of the TV series “Nashville” with “Gonna get even”. This time she returns with her 2nd song from this show “Tell me” (#12) which climbed up two spots.

At the moment I’ve the feeling that my chart is getting a little bit older than in the past days. So there are only three songs in my Top 10 which haven’t reached the 10 week mark, but there is some change in sight. Outside the Top 10 several songs are trying to enter this part and it is possible that there is some change next week. Favourite for a entry in next week’s Top 10 is US-singer Sara Hartman with her debut single. “Monster lead me home” (#11), a song she wrote after moving to Berlin, climbed up two spots and is knocking heavily at the door to the top part of my chart. Then there is Anouk. With “Last goodbye” (#12) she climbed up and it would be a wonder if she doesn’t enter the Top 10 with this song. Also in a good position is another star from the TV series “Nashville”. For the first time Clare Bowen could to the last step with her beautiful and emotional song “Black roses” (#14) which rose four spots.

But there are some more songs which aren’t so long on my chart that a Top 10 spot is absolutely possible. Alternative band Transviolet are such an example. Their hymn “New bohemia” (#15) has everything to be a hit, but it is interesting to see that they aren’t getting any attention with this song at the moment which is sad. From Germany the DJ duo Max + Johan are celebrating the sound of today with their song “Wenn du schläfst” (#18, “If you sleep”). This is such a beautiful song, but as “New bohemia” the attention level of this song isn’t high. Next in line is French singer Louane. With “Avenir” she has a big hit around Europe at the moment, but with “Nos secrets” (#19) she is flying under the radar. I don’t see this song as a big hit for her, but on my chart it works well and it could be her first hit in my Top 10. Two more songs are on the list for a potential Top 10 entry in the next weeks. First to mention is Tove Lo with “Moments” (#20) and then there is Selena Gomez with “Hands to myself” (#21).

So much for the potential Top 10 entries. Let’s go to this week’s highest new entries. This week the highest debut is by Anouk. Her latest album “Queen for a day” is ready for release in the next months and the first promotional single “Dirty girl” (#43) is out. “Dirty girl” got a solid debut, but I think she had better songs in the past, so that I don’t see this song be a #1 on my chart. Though I could change my mind in the next weeks and we will see. After promoting her new album I’ve to speed up the level of charting songs from her “Paradise and back again” album. Some weeks ago I debuted the mentioned “Last goodbye” and “Looking for love” (#25). Four more songs I’ve not charted from this album so I decided to give them a debut in this week’s edition. Which brings Anouk up to five debuts. The highest debuting album cut from “Paradise and back again” is “Some of us” (#59) which is a possible Top 20 or more hit. Her other debuts “Breathe” (#68), “Smile & shine” (#69) and “Wish he could see it all” (#70) haven’t done so good for me so I don’t see them in higher regions of my chart, but how knows. Other debuts are Anna Rossinelli’s alternative “Bang bang bang” (#50) and Aubrey Peeples’ “It all slows down” (#60).

Week 257 – January 30^th, 2016

This week’s Top 10 is really divided into two sections: the one without a position change and the second with five new songs. As every week I’m starting with my top song and for a fourth week it is “Damage done” (#1) by Leslie Clio. This song is really good song and maybe “Damage done” will go near the wonderful and unreachable “My heart ain’t that broken” (#48). Still in the runner’s up position is “Nichts” (#2, “Nothing”) by Austrian Tagtraeumer. Although I think that their album is in the best way average with their singles they are doing more than well on my chart. Most of the time they got their #1 and maybe there are one or two songs of this album which could do well too. The podium is completed by Taylor Swift’s “New romantics” (#3). The other two non-movers are “Hello” (#4) by Adele and “Vergiss mein nicht” (#5, “Forget-Me-Not”) by Solarkreis.

Last week I speculated about some new songs for my Top 10. This week some of these mentioned songs reached this part. For the first time in my Top 10 is Sara Hartman with her debut single “Monster lead me home” (#6). Moving to Berlin hasn’t been a bad idea so far with this single. Sure she hadn’t gained a lot of attention with this song, but things can always change. An old acquaintance in my Top 10 is Anouk. This time she returned with “Last goodbye” (#6). Anouk is followed by Clare Bowen. Clare Bowen is portraying “Scarlett O’Connor” in the TV series Nashville. For her “Black roses” (#8) is the highest charting song from this show and her first Top 10 hit. She is also the 2nd artist from this show to reach my Top 10 and with this entry she outperformed Aubrey Peeples’s “Gonna get even” (#59) which peaked at #9. Next in line is “New bohemia” (#9) by alternative band Transviolet. They had two minor hits in 2015 and now they are reaching the Top 10 which should be big in 2016. This song would deserve it and I’ll keep my fingers crossed. Last but not least is the winner of the German version of “The Voice”. Jamie-Lee Kriewitz climbed up six spots with the winning single “Ghost” (#10).

For the third time German band Kuult are the greatest gainer of the week with their current single “Berlin” (#22). In it’s ninth week on chart they climbed up 13 spots and just missed the Top 20 which they possible will join by next week. The highest new entry is going to two acts which had one chart hit before. Major Lazer and Wild Belle teamed up for Major Lazer’s recent single “Be together” (#43). For both this high debut is their biggest hit until today, because “Lean on” never reached my Top 50. With this debut they are ready to reach my Top 20, but be careful with my prediction. As you know from the past most of these predictions were wrong.

“Be together” had been the only new entry in my Top 50. So you’ve to go down the chart to find the other seven new songs which reached this week’s edition. These new songs are “Got it wrong” (#76), “Left my woman” (#77) and “American” (#78) by The Wild Feathers, “Sticks & stones” (#95) by Kitty In The Casket, “Let you down” (#96) by River Oaks, “Figure me out” (#97) by The Summer Set and “Fix” (#98) by Chris Lane.

Week 258 – February 6^th, 2016

Over the last weeks I got the feeling that my chart is growing older and older and that there aren’t as many new songs as in the past to replace the old ones. This week all these thoughts were wiped away. 19 new entries are no record, but this is the first time in a long time I’ve more than 15 new entries. The last time this happened had been at the end of October 2015. Most of the debuts are down the chart, but there are some in my Top 50 too. Before I write more about this week’s debuts I’m starting as always with my Top 10.

While my chart experienced a small earthquake there is nothing new at the top. Leslie Clio is holding the top spot for a 5th consecutive week with “Damage done”. Behind her there had been a position change. Former #1 “Nichts” (#3, “Nothing”) by Austrian Tagtraeumer dropped one spot. Therefor Taylor Swift’s “New romantics” (#2) climbed up one and is now in the runner’s-up position. These songs are followed by two acts that had no Top 5 hit before. First to mention is Sara Hartman. Her debut single “Monster lead me home” (#4) climbed up two spots. Although this song performed very well this song won’t be my next #1. The better chance has the brilliant “New bohemia” (#5) by Transviolet. I loved this song right from the start and now it is in a position to do the last step and it is absolutely possible that Transviolet is doing this step next week.

Sara Hartman and Transviolet won this week with their songs, but there are some songs which had to leave the Top 5. Adele is dropping down with her six week chart topping song “Hello” (#6). Her follow up “When we were young” can’t be found on my chart at the moment, but this song should debut in the next two weeks. Also dropping out of the Top 5 is “Vergiss mein nicht” (#10, “Forget-Me-Not”) by Solarkreis. Caught between these droppers are two non-movers “Last goodbye” (#7) by Anouk and “Black roses” (#8) by Clare Bowen as well as the only climber in the 2nd part of my Top 10 “Ghost” (#9) by Jamie-Lee Kriewitz. By the way Jamie-Lee Kriewitz is participating with “Ghost” in the German pre-selection for the Eurovision song contest. “Ghost” has a good chance to represent Germany, but there is also the new single by Luxuslärm which could do well.

So I just finished with my Top 10. Let’s go to the new entries. The highest new entry is by Alessia Cara. Her first hit single “Here” – an US Top 5 hit – never found its way into my chart although the lyrics are very dark. Her 2nd single “Wild things” (#35) is continuing where her debut ceased. While “Here” flopped for me “Wild things” is doing way better and this song is this week’s highest new entry. With this song in her pocket she should do well and a Top 10 spot is absolutely in reach. “Wild things” isn’t the only new song in my Top 50. The 2nd best debut is by a well known artist. Birdy released with “Keeping your head up” (#46) the first single of her sophomore album “Beautiful lies”. At first I wasn’t sure about charting this song, but this song is getting stronger with every listen. It is no “Light me up” (reached #1 in 2014), but “Keeping your head up” should do well.

Back in 2012 I charted for the first time a song by Canadian Shawn Hook. It took about three and a half year before another song by him found its way into my chart. This week it was time and Shawn Hook got a debut with his catchy third single “Relapse” (#47) from his album “Analog love”. It is a decent song and I hope that “Relapse” will perform well on my chart. Next in line is a debut by Twenty One Pilots. The last time I charted them had been back in February 2013 when the chart run of their debut single “Holding on to you” ended. Since this time I’ve not payed a lot of attention to them. Sure I’ve listened into “Tear in my heart” when it had been released last year, but for some reasons I gave this song the go-by. Last week their actual single “Stressed out” debuted in the “Austrian Top 40” and I decided to give them another chance with their singles since “Holding on to you”. Most of their singles are still no songs I would chart, but there is one song I’m debuting this week. It is “Tear in my heart” (#48) – the bands biggest hit untiled they released “Stressed out”. So you find a song from 2015 among my Top 3 debuts in the first February edition of my chart. Last but not least to mention is Cam. Her follow up to “Burning house” reached a Top 50 spot from a standing position. “Mayday” (#49) is my favourite song by her so far and I hope that she will reach my Top 20 in a few weeks.

Week 259 – February 13^th, 2016

With a big climb alternative act Transviolet took the last step to catch the bands 1st #1 on my chart. The catchy “New bohemia” (#1) replaced “Damage done” (#2) by Leslie Clio which had been #1 for five weeks. For the moment it seems that Leslie Clio’s run at the top has ended until I chart some of her other songs from the “Eureka” album. The other new song at the podium is “Monster lead me home” (#3) by Sara Hartman. This week Sara Hartman released her 2nd single “Stranger in a room” which is a Jamie XX cover. From my point of view this is a disappointing choice for a single and so I’ll not chart this song for the moment, but maybe in a few weeks … . Last week Taylor Swift reached #2 with “New romantics” (#4). This week she dropped down two spots. The third new song within my Top 5 is “Last goodbye” (#5) by Anouk. For this core artist a Top 5 hit is nothing special and we’ll see if “Last goodbye” has a chance to reach #1.

Dropping out of the Top 3 and the Top 5 is Austrian band Tagtraeumer. Their recent single “Nichts” (#6, “Nothing”) dropped three spots. “Nichts” is followed by another former #1. Adele’s “Hello” (#7) is continuing the downwards trend with a drop of one spot. At #8 you still can find Clare Bowen. For a third week in a row “Black roses” didn’t move and I’m not sure if there is a chance for her to peak better. These songs are followed by two new songs within my Top 10. Let’s welcome Selena Gomez and Tove Lo. Both had several Top 10 hits before and so “Hands to myself” (#9) and “Moments” (#10) aren’t big surprises in this section.

Last week I had 19 new entries. This week there are 18 more new songs I’m debuting. Almost the half chart was replaced by new songs in the last two weeks. Last week’s highest debut “Wild things” (#27) by Alessia Cara did well in its 2nd week and rose eight spots, but there is one song which sprinted up the chart after debuting last week. It is “Love is” (#57) by Inas X. This song climbed up 35 spots and should reach my Top 40 by next week.

This week’s highest new entry is by one of five acts with an Australian background. Joe Moore was born in the UK and moved with his parents to Australia when he was 16. He was runner-up in the Australian version of “The Voice” and this week I discovered his 2nd official single “Invincible” (#29). “Invincible” has been released back in October last year and reached #68 in Australia. After the first listen I knew that I’ve to chart this song and this song did well and got stronger with every listen. The debut is solid and I think that Joe Moore could do as well as Matt Cardle and Ben Montague did in the past for me. This doesn’t mean that “Invincible” is a sure shot for #1, but this could reach my Top 10.

Two more songs made their debut within the Top 50. Both acts had at least one charting hit before. For the first act we’ve to go back to 2011 when Danish singer Fallulah had her first hit on my chart. With “Out of it” she had a Top 3 hit (in Denmark this song is her only #1 until today) and then she had some minor hits. This week she returned with the fourth single “Perfect tense” (#48) from her upcoming album. Unfortunately most of her songs failed to reach my chart, but with this song she has a good start and maybe she can perform as well as some of her older songs did for me. The other act is from Austria. The Poxrucker Sisters had a surprising hit in 2014 with their debut single “Glick” (“Luck”). This week they returned with their first single “Herzklopfn” (#49, “Beating of the heart”) from their new album. “Herzklopfn” is a nice song, maybe not as good as “Glick”, but we’ll find out in the next weeks.

Week 260 – February 20^th, 2016

The last two weeks brought more than 30 new entries. This week is a little bit calmer with only eight new entries. Another fact you’ll notice is that there isn’t much action this week when you've a closer look over my Top 10. No song entered this part of my chart so that there are only position changes. For a 2nd week at the Top alternative act Transviolet can be found with their hymn “New Bohemia” (#1). “New Bohemia” is such a strong song that it should top my chart for a 3rd week. But the concurrence isn’t sleeping. My core artist Anouk is on her way up with “Last goodbye” (#3) which climbed up two spots to reach my Top 3. Not to forget Selena Gomez who profits by the fact that I bought her recent album “Revival”. So “Hands to myself” (#5) climbed up four spots in its #8 week. While Anouk reached my Top 3 newcomer Sara Hartman had to leave with “Monster lead me home” (#4).

“New romantics” (#6) by Taylor Swift dropped two spots. It is still a nice song, but on its way out of my Top 10. Also on their way out are two former #1’s. Austrian band Tagtraeumer dropped one spot with “Nichts” (#7, “Nothing”) and Adele’s “Hello” (#8) is celebrating her 17th week in my Top 10 with a one spot drop. The only song in the 2nd half of my Top 10 which climbed up had been “Moments” (#9) by Tove Lo. Last but not least in my Top 10 is “Black roses” (#10) by Clare Bowen.

About two weeks ago I wrote that there is a good chance to find in this edition the next single by Adele. Over this week I noticed that her new single “When we were young” (#17) is debuting in several countries. Of course “When we were young” is my highest debut and there had only one song which could’ve done as well as this song in its first week. It had been Gwen Stefani’s 2nd single “Make me like you” (#34). Sure Gwen Stefani is debuting outside my Top 30 with this song, but I’ve the feeling that these two songs will fight for #1 over the next weeks with little chances by some outsiders on my chart. It’s hard to predict at the moment which one will do better in end, but both songs are very good.

Then there is one more song which gave its debut with in my Top 50. It is by Portuguese singer Aurea. Her first two albums “Aurea” and “Soul Notes” produced several hit songs on my chart including #1 smash “Okay alright” back in 2011. It had been a while for her when she had her last chart hit, but it is more about the fact that she released an album in Portuguese which I never bought. This week she returned with the first single “I didn’t mean it” (#50) from her upcoming new album. “I didn’t mean it“ is a very strong song. Everything is reduced to her beautiful voice and the piano. This song totally reminds me to her debut album “Aurea” which did better than “Soul notes”. I love this song and it should bring her another Top 10 hit.

Other debuts are “Real love” (#51) by Florrie, “Make my love go” (#68) by Jay Sean feat. Sean Paul, “Fick dich” (#69, “F*ck you”) by Lumaraa, “Southern cross” (#90) by Ron Pope and “Used to love you sober” (#91) by Kane Brown.

Week 261 – February 27^th, 2016

Are they still at #1? Yes, Transviolot are still topping my chart. For a third week in a row “New bohemia” (#1) is sitting at the top. A fourth week depends on how fast Adele’s latest smash is climbing or if Anouk or Selena Gomez could do this one last step. In the meanwhile Leslie Clio is holding the runner’s-up position with “Damage done” (#2). The podium is completed with “Last goodbye” (#3) by Anouk. Behind my Top 3 there you can find the first movement. Selena Gomez climbed up one spot with “Hands to myself” (#4) and changed the spot with Sara Hartmann’s “Monster lead me home” (#5).

Last week two former #1’s dropped one spot with a clear sign to leave my Top 10. This week both didn’t gave up and returned to their previous spots. Tagtraeumer’s “Nichts” (#6, “Nothing”) and Adele’s “Hello” (#7) are still there and maybe Adele is getting at 20th week in my Top 10 in the future. While these two songs are climbing up Taylor Swift’s latest single “New romantics” (#8) dropped two spots in its 15th week on chart. Tove Lo clings to her spot with “Moments” (#9). “Moments” is now three weeks in my Top 10, but the end of this run is near. The Top 10 is rounded out with Adele’s 2nd Top 10 hit from her “25” album. “When we were young” (#10) climbed up seven spots in its 2nd week on chart and as predicted last week it won’t be a surprise if this song is soon topping my chart. Maybe she is doing this step next week when I can celebrate the 5th birthday of my chart.

There is one artist who is influencing my chart since I decided to re-start. Anouk had several #1’s in the last five years and this week she has one hit in my Top 3 too. Two other songs from her album “Paradise and back again” are also doing well. Both songs rose 17 spots and are now in my Top 40. “Breathe” (#35) is a little bit better than “Wish he could see it all” (#36). If these songs could continue this week’s trend it is absolutely possible to find them within my Top 20 by next week.

When you look over my chart you only find seven new entries in this week’s edition. None of the debuts found its way into my Top 50. The highest debut is a little bit old as “Tear in my heart” (#41) by Twenty One Pilots which I debuted some weeks ago. Different to “Tear in my heart” the highest debut is a Top 10 hit nearly everywhere in Europe at the moment which includes a Top 5 hit in Austria. I’m writing about “Stitches” (#57) by Canadian Shawn Mendes. He had a very slow start in Austria where it took him 10 weeks to reach the Top 40. Now he reached the Top 5 and this song is getting more and more airplay which means that there is no escape when listing to the radio. In contrast to other big airplay songs I recently noticed that this song isn’t as bad as I thought when I first listened to this song. As a consequence “Stitches” got his debut in this week’s edition.

Other debuts are “Cool me down” (#78) by Margaret, “Second time around” (#89), “Melancholie heartbeat” (#90) and “Ego you” (#91) all by Madeline Juno, “Sorry” (#92) by Justin Bieber and “Hate” (#95) by 4Minute.

Week 262 – March 5^th, 2016

With this edition I’m celebrating the 5th birthday of my chart. The #1 on March 5th 2011 had been “July July” by Austrian band Any Major Dude. This had been the bands only #1 on my chart and it had been one of two charting hits by them. What happened with my opening #1 act? In 2013 they decided to disband and so they’ve not the chance to set some other marks on my chart. Up-to-date I had 108 #1’s by 61 artists. The most successful act is Anouk with nine #1’s. With this week I charted 3060 songs by more than 1800 artists.

Let’s go to this week’s edition. Sure everybody is calculating with the next big climb by Adele’s smash “When we were young” (#4). But what should I say? It only climbed up six spots and so Adele also failed to reach my Top 3. This opened the opportunity for alternative act Transviolet to get a 4th week at the top with “New bohemia” (#1). In a tough decision they withstand the pressure by Anouk. Her song “Last goodbye” (#2) climbed up one spot. In a last minute decision I decided for Transviolet and against Anouk. The podium is complete with Selena Gomez who climbed up one spot with “Hands to myself” (#3). Last week’s #2 “Demage done” (#5) by Leslie Clio dropped three spots.

One down is “Monster lead me home” (#6) by Sara Hartman. “Monster lead me home” is followed by the first of two new songs in this section. MisterWives finally reached the Top 10 with “No need for dreaming” (#7) which sprinted into the Top 10 with a climb of seven spots in its 9th week on chart. Their other charting hit “Coffins” (#11) also did well, but failed to enter by one spot. Caught between the two new songs in my Top 10 are the former #1’s “Nichts” (#9, “Nothing”) by Austrian Tagtraeumer and Adele’s “Hello” (#8). This week Adele isn’t the only act with two songs in my Top 10. The other one is Anouk. Another album track from “Paradise and back again” reached my Top 10. It is “Looking for love” (#10) which now can be found in my Top 10 after a three spot climb.

Two songs are giving their debut in my Top 50 in this special edition of my chart. The highest debut is by Australian singer Sia and by Sean Paul. Both acts are well known, but they are underrepresented on my chart. Sia’s only chart hit had been a feature on Flo Rida’s 2012 single “Wild ones” which peaked at #71. Sean Paul had two charting hits before 2016. The first had been his song “Got 2 luv U” with Alexis Jordan in 2011 which peaked at #67. His 2nd chart entry had been a little bit more successful. His feature on the Simple Plan song “Summer paradise” in 2012 peaked at #11. In this week’s edition Sean Paul is represented two times, because he isn’t only featured on Sia’s track and the highest debut “Cheap thrills” (#30), but also on Jay Sean’s song “Make my love go” (#55).

The other top debut is by a core artist. Emma released her 3rd single from Adesso. Although this album is a little bit weaker than her past work I finally got a copy and so it was only a matter of time when her 3rd single reached a spot on my chart. This week it was time and so “Io di te non ho paura” (#31, “I’m not afraid of you”) got its debut. It is a solid debut, but I hope that this song will end up a little bit better than her other singles of this album.

Other new songs on my chart are “Renegade runaway” (#54) by Carrie Underwood, “Everywhere you look” (#56) by Carly Rae Jepsen, “This love” (#70) and “How you get the girl” (#79) by Taylor Swift, “Under the influence” (#77) by Elle King “Smoke and fire” (#90) by Sabrina Carpenter, “Closer” (#91) by Cape Cub, “Swim” (#92) by Fickle Friends, “Closer” (#98) by Lemaitre feat. Week 263 – March 12^th, 2016

Week one after the 5th anniversary opens with a new #1. Last week it was a very tough decision between Transviolet and Anouk. The duel is decided and there is a laughing third. Selina Gomez is grabbing her third #1 and her first from “Revival”. “Hands to myself” (#1) climbed up two spots and defeated those two acts that fought for #1 last week clearly. For both songs “New bohemia” (#4) and “Last goodbye” (#3) only one spot on the podium was left open, because another song reached the runner’s up spot. It is Adele’s “When we were young” (#2) which is finally attacking the #1 spot. New into the Top 5 is “No need for dreaming” (#5) by MisterWives. “No need for dreaming” is now the bands highest charting hit.

MisterWives pushed Leslie Clio back. Her former #1 “Damage done” (#6) left my Top 5. I can’t remember when the last time was when Leslie Clio hasn’t a hit in my Top 5. The other former #1 in the second part of my Top 10 is a non-mover. “Hello” (#8) by Adele isn’t giving up a Top 10 spot. So let’s go to the newcomers. After several tries Gwen Stefanie reached a spot in my Top 10. Her 2nd single “Make me like you” (#7) from her new solo album climbed up 10 spots. On my chart “Make me like you” is Gwen Stefanie’s 1st Top 10 hit, but unforgotten are her hits from the past including the ones from No Doubt. The 2nd highest new song in the Top 10 is by Anouk who replaced herself. “Looking for love” (#11) only spent a week in the Top 10 before “Dirty girl” (#9) outperformed this song. The 3rd new song in this section is a by a newcomer. With her 2nd single “Wild things” (#10) Alessia Cara entered this part of my chart.

Is Sean Paul the new trend artist on my chart? Two songs where he is featured on are climbing up very well in this edition. Last week he debuted on a Sia track. “Cheap thrills” (#20) climbed up ten spots and is now in the Top 20. Then he is featured on this week’s greatest gainer. “Make my love go” (#29) by Jay Sean climbed up 26 spots. It is a nice song and sure the Maxi Priest sample helped.

Sixteen songs are giving their debut in this edition, but only two songs reached a debut in my Top 50. The highest debut is by German band Luxuslärm. Very short after they released the first single “Solange Liebe in mir wohnt” (#48, “As long as love dwells in me”) of “Fallen und fliegen” (“Falling and flying”) they released their 2nd single. “Bis es weh tut” (#39, “Until it hurts”) is a very good song and reminds me of their biggest hit “Atemlos” (“Breathless”) on my chart which peaked at #6 back in January 2013. For this song Luxuslärm got support by Max Mutzke. Max Mutzke represented Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2004. Since this time he is flying under my radar. He had released some singles, but they all failed to enter my chart. So “Bis es weh tut” is his first appearance on my chart.

The only other debut within my Top 50 is by Steven Tyler. The lead singer of Aerosmith is trying something different. He is singing a country song. “Red, white and you” (#49) is a forerunner of his upcoming album. It is a nice song, but I’ve not been into his earlier solo stuff or his songs with Aerosmith, so I can’t assess how far this song will go for me.

Week 264 – March 19^th, 2016

It has only been a matter of time when Adele gets her 2nd #1 from “25”. This week “When we were young” (#1) climbed up the last step and is now shining from the top. The luck lasted only one week for Selena Gomez. “Hands to myself” had to leave the spotlight and is now in the position of the first haunter. I’m sure that Selena Gomez won’t be long in this position because Gwen Stefani is giving a lot of pressure with “Make me like you” (#3) with which she climbed up four spots. Gwen Stefani catched the spot in the Top 3, while Anouk had to leave this part with “Last goodbye” (#4). After sitting at the top for four weeks “New bohemia” (#5) by Transviolet dropped for a 2nd week in a row.

As you could’ve read so far there are only position changes in my Top 5. The rest of the Top 10 isn’t different. There is no new song in this part which means that Adele’s “Hello” (#10) got its 21st week in the Top 10. Also doing well, although droping, is former #1 “Damage done” (#7) by Leslie Clio. For MisterWives the dream for reaching #1 with “No need for dreaming” (#6) – what a pun – ended with this drop. These songs have in common that they all dropped. This leads me to the two songs which climbed up in the 2nd half of my Top 10. In its 2nd week in the Top 10 Anouk climbed up one spot with “Dirty girl” (#8) which is the first single of her new album “Queen for a day”. The other climber is “Wild things” (#9) by Alessia Cara.

11 songs gave their debut on my chart. Just one song debuted in the Top 50 and this was brief. The highest new entry is by Canadian artist Tyler Shaw. He debuted behind this week’s greatest gainer which is “Dancing on glass” (#46) by St. Lucia. Tyler Shaw had a single hit with his debut single “Kiss goodnight” which peaked at #92 back in 2012. Since this time every single flopped for me and so it is a real surprise that he got such a good debut with his new one “Wicked” (#47). “Wicked” is a possible Top 30 hit and maybe this song will reach the Top 20, but it is really hard to predict how far this song will go.

Week 265 – March 26^th, 2016

It’s Easter weekend and I’ve to anounce that there is no new #1. Adele is celebrating a 2nd week at the top with “When we were young” (#2). The attack started by Gwen Stefani last week has lost a little bit of its swing, but “Make me like you” (#2) isn’t far behind to take over the leading role on my chart. So far “Make me like you” is the only song within my Top 5 which hasn’t spent a single at #t. “Hands to myself” (#3) by Selena Gomez topped the chart for one week, “New bohemia” (#4) by Transviolet peaked at #1 for four weeks and there is “Damage done” (#5) by Leslie Clio which led my chart for five weeks. “Damage done” returned into the Top 5 after a one week absence.

All the former #1’s are concentrating in the top part while in the lower part of my Top 10 there are no chart toppers. This means that Adele’s smash “Hello” (#12) left in its 22nd week on chart with 21 of those in the Top 10. The leading position in the 2nd part of my Top 10 goes to Alessia Cara. Her 1st chart hit “Wild things” (#6) climbed up three spots. Alessia Cara is followed by core artist Anouk. Her Top 3 hit “Last goodbye” (#4) had to leave my Top 5 with a drop of three spots, but she still has a 2nd hit in this part with “Dirty girl” (#8). The only new song in this section is by Birdy. The first single “Keeping your head up” (#9) of her latest album “Beautiful lies” is her first Top 10 hit since her chart topping single “Light me up” back in 2014. This part of my chart is rounded out by MisterWives’ “No need for dreaming” (#10).

Four songs are on the shortlist for an entry in the Top 10. First to mention is Australian Joe Moore. His beautiful ballad “Invincible” (#11) is now peaking at #11 for a 2nd week in a row. Joe Moore would be a good addition to my Top 10 because in the moment there isn’t a male singer in this part. This brings me to Jay Sean feat. Sean Paul. His dance song “Make my love go” (#14) with the Maxi Priest sample sprinted up 11 spots and would also enhance the male rate. Another dance song in this shortlist is Sia’s “Cheap thrills” (#13). I’ven’t seen it coming that there is a song by Sia which will enter my Top 10. In the past all of her solo singles saw my chart only from afar. Sia’s and Jay Sean’s songs are surely a reminiscence to my youth when I listened to the “Eurodance” with some favourites like “No limit” by 2 Unlimited, “Rhythm is a dancer” by Snap! or “Mr. Vain” by Culture Beat. So it is no big surprise to find songs like these climbing up my chart. Last but not least on this little shortlist is Emma’s third single “Io di te non ho paura” (#15, “I’m not afraid of you”).

As last week there are 11 new songs on the list. For the first one you’ve to scroll down and down and down and … . Austrian band Tagtraeumer placed two songs from their album “Alles OK” in this week’s edition. The highest new entry is “Irgendwann” (#77, “Sometime”) followed by “Selbe Menschen, selber Rotwein” (#78, “Same people, same red wine”). The best placed single among the new entries is “Chemistry” (#83) by Wildflowers. The other debuts are “No” (#90) by Meghan Trainor, “The wild” (#91) by Kerri Watt, “Alive” (#92) by Ben Phipps feat. Ashe, “Fortune cookie (Gostan Remix)” (#94) by Emma Bale feat.
