Week 240 – October 03^rd, 2015

Cro didn’t contain himself to his title “Bye bye”. He didn’t want to leave the chart leading position so that “Bye bye” (#1) is sitting on the throne for a 2nd week. But in the end it had been very, very tight. Austrian local heroes Krautschädl climbed up one spot with their incredible “Feiah fonga” (#2) and are continuing very strong in their 2nd week on chart. I think that next week that this band is taking over to get the band’s 2nd #1 on my chart. The podium is completed by Leslie Clio. Her former #1 “All the other fools” (#3) is dropping once more one spot. Meanwhile Kelly Clarkson is holding #4 with “Someone” which is very good, but not for an artist who had several #1’s in her pocket. The Top 5 is closed with the first of six songs from Austria in a row. Alternative band Wanda climbed up one spot with “Bussi baby” and except expectations this song is climbing up the Austrian chart as well. Their “Bussi baby” is now at #4 and they should climb into the Top 3 by next week.

Tagtraeumer missed the Top 5 for the first time after seven weeks. Their hit “Brücken zum Mond” (#6) dropped one spot and changed the spot with Wanda’s “Bussi baby”. Not far behind the Top 5 is also the 2nd Krautschädl hit in the Top 5 “Da Sommla” (#7). This could be the song’s peak, but you’ll never know. Then there are the three new Austrian songs in the Top 10. The highest charting new song is “Frei” (#8, “Free”). For Dyrkis it is her 1st Top 10 hit on my chart. Unfortunately this song isn’t a big hit outside my chart, but who cares? I like this song and therefor she earned this Top 10 hit. Also for the first time in the Top 10 are the other new Austrian songs. As I wrote some weeks ago Kompass Nord are trying to copy Tagtraeumer’s success. I really like this catchy tune and so “Nacktbaden” (#9, “Nude bathing”) is reaching the same spheres the Tagtraeumer hits are doing. But for a #1 hit “Nacktbaden” is miles away, not only because Krautschädl should blocking this spot for weeks with “Feiah fonga”. Last but not least Granada is reaching this part with the projects 1st charting single “Palmen am Balkon” (#10, “Palms on the balcony”). Sure this summer song is a little bit late, but better late than never!

The highest new entry is by an artist who is well known on my chart. Alanis Morissette rocked my chart with her “Havoc and bright lights” album back in 2012/13 when she had three #1 (“Guardian”, “Receive” – which I’m acutely listening too, and “Spiral”). Some weeks ago she released the “Jagged little pill Collector’s edition” with some new songs on it. One of these new songs finally reached my chart. “Superstar wonderful weirdos” (#35) has a solid start on my chart. Better then her last year’s non album singles, but not as good as the mentioned songs on “Havoc and bright lights”. I’m sure that #35 is only a temporary spot and this song is ready for the Top 10. In an ideal world this song would be #1, but as we all knew there is no ideal world so I can’t predict, but it is absolutely conceivable that she could break the future #1 run by Krautschädl. “Superstar wonderful weirdos” debuted behind this week’s greatest gainer which is “Not on drugs” (#34) by Tove Lo.

The 2nd best new entry is by Austrian well known band Count Basic. I knew them since their start in the 1990’s. Last year they celebrated the bands 20th anniversary with their 7th album “Sweet spot” – where US-singer Kellie Sae is the first time featured - which failed to reach the Austrian album charts. Believe it or not this band hasn’t placed one of their singles on the Austrian chart. So it isn’t surprising that their actual single hasn’t got airplay on the radio and I almost oversaw their beautiful new one. “The city” (#42) is a wonderful song to celebrate the bands anniversary. I absolutely love this song and it should do as well as some of their songs in the past.

Week 241 – October 10^th, 2015

Last week Cro said the last time “Bye bye” (#3) sitting at the throne of my chart. This week this beautiful gem dropped two spots and is now closing the Top 3. New at the Top are the Upper Austrian local heroes Krautschädl. Their 2nd single from “Immer mit da Ruhe” did the last step to top my chart. “Feiah fonga” (#1) is their 2nd #1 on my chart and an absolutely catch one. It’s fantastic to see them back at the top. The highest non-song from a German or an Austrian artist is caught between these two songs. It is “Someone” (#2) by Kelly Clarkson which climbed up two spots. Although “All the other fools” (#4) dropped one spot Leslie Clio is now within the Top 10 since March 27th. More than a half year she is reigning the chart and more than a part of the time she topped the chart. The Top 5 is closed by Austrian alternative act Wanda and their “Bussi baby” (#5).

By last week from #5 to #10 only songs from Austria could have been found. This week this fact changed, because a song from Germany is chiselling between these songs. But first things first. No change at #6 where “Brücken zum Mond” by Tagtraeumer still is sitting. This former #1 is followed by “Nacktbaden” (#7). Kompass Nord are trying to do the same kind of music Tagtraeumer do and this week they are nearly pass by their role models. No change for “Frei” (#8) by Dykris this week while the 2nd song by Krautschädl in the Top dropped two spots. So “Da Sommla” (#10) is rounding out the Top 10. Before I write the last words about this week’s Top 10 there is to mention, that the only new song in this section is from Germany. The German hip-hop crew Fettes Brot did the last step to enter this part of my chart for the very first time. “Von der Liebe” (#11) climbed up two spots and is now their first Top 10 hit.

It lasted a little bit, but now Taylor Swift’s latest hit entered my chart. “Wildest dreams” (#32) is one of a few songs at the moment which could break the German-Austrian domination on my chart. I really like this song and I personally prefer this video more than her previous “Bad blood” (#28) video. “Wildest dreams” is the highest and only debut in this week’s Top 50. After several weeks with a massive number of debuts my chart is now cooling down. So it should be a little bit easier to reach to the Top 10 than some weeks ago. This a good chance for Taylor Swift to tapping another #1 on my chart with this gem.

Baschi’s “Oh wie schad” (#49) is the greatest gainer of the week with a climb of 11 spots. Not far behind the greatest gainer are the next two new entries which are two album cuts of “Our own house” by Misterwives. Their highest debut is “Best I can do” (#57) which has not only a catch refrain it has also an interesting sound. A little bit softer is their other debut “Hurrican” (#58).

Other debuts are “Spotlight” (#82) by Jason Blaine, “Happy again” (#85) by Mic Donet, “Uns gehört die Nacht” (#86, “We own the night”) by Madeline Willers, “In2” (#91) by WSTRN, “Steal me away” (#92) by Olivia Lane and “Girls your age” (#96) by Transviolet.

Week 242 – October 17^th, 2015

Basically it had been a rather calm week, except one song which sprinted up the chart. According with this slow week the #1 is the same like last week. Austrian act Krautschädl still shining bright from the top with their catchy “Feiah fonga” (#1). Two weeks to go and they could equalize their hit “Khoids Wossa”. Still in the runner's-up position is “Someone” (#2) by Kelly Clarkson. This song is now in its 12th week on chart, but the chance to climb up the last spot is pretty small. Also holding their spots are the former #1’s “Bye bye” (#3) by Cro and “All the other fools” (#4) by Leslie Clio. Writing about Leslie Clio I can’t keep secret that her new single “Eureka” (#11) is knocking at the door to the Top 10 after a six spot climb. The Top 5 is rounded out with another Austrian act. Wanda’s “Bussi baby” (#5) is still holding the spot while their new single “Meine beiden Schwestern” (#89, “My both sisters”) is debuting down the chart.

The next part of the Top 10 is opened with the only new song in this section. Swedish singer Noonie Bao had only a minor hit on my chart before, but with her new single “Pyramids” (#6) she reached the Top 10 for the very first time. In its first week on chart I wrote that this song has written hit all over it, but it would be hard to predict if this song would reach the Top 10 or even higher. This week she finally made the step into the top songs of my chart and maybe next week “Pyramids” is in the Top 5. Directly behind “Pyramids” is “Brücken zum Mond” (#7) by Tagtraeumer in its 19th week on chart. “Von der Liebe” (#8) by Fettes Brot changed the spot with “Frei” (#9) by Dykris. The Top 10 is closed by Kompass Nord with “Nacktbaden” (#10).

For the highest new entry you have to go down nearly the half chart. At #48 you’ll find the greatest gainer which is “Same old love” (#48) by Selena Gomez. One spot behind you’ll find the highest debut. A year ago I watched the first season of “Nashville”. Several songs of this TV series made my chart in the following weeks. Some of these songs reached the Top 30, but the master stroke was missing. With this week songs from season 2 are celebrating their premier on my chart as I starting watching. The highest new song is by the new character Layla Grant which is portrayed by Aubrey Peeples. For Aubrey Peeples “Gonna get even” (#49) is her first appearance on my chart. Sure this song is more a teen country pop song and I’m no teen anymore, but I really like the catchiness of this song. So “Gonna get even” should do well on my chart and maybe “Gonna get even” is the first song of this show to reach the Top 20.

The 2nd highest new entry is in at #50. It is “Da Eberhard” (#50) by Austrian band Yellowframe. Some weeks ago they released their debut single “Diaries” which I decided not to chart. “Diaries” was reviewed by Austrian music expert Eberhard Forcher in his youtube show “Austrozone” where he is reviewing new Austrian songs. In the 80th show he premiered Yellowframe’s single “Diaries”. He described this song as a technical good rock song from Austria, but he asked why this band will have no success outside Austria. His answer was that it will be hard with school English to reach the international stages. In the opposite case with school German there hadn’t been any hits here, so this will explain why they won’t have international success. Five weeks after this review Eberhard Forcher presented Yellowframe’s answer to his review. As a reaction to this critic by Eberhard Forcher they released their new single “Da Eberhard” in an Austrian (Waldviertler) dialect. There they were working on this criticism with humorism lyrics and a very cool refrain. This could be a surprising hit for them and on my chart the premiered in this week’s Top 50.

Other new entries are “The first time” (#51) and “Ghost rider” (#52) by Madi Diaz, “I’d go with you anywhere” (#88) by Birds of Tokyo, “This love ain’t big enough” (#90) by Hayden Panettiere, “Why can’t I say goodnight” (#93) by Clare Bowen & Sam Palladio and “This” (#94) by Collective Soul.

I hadn't graced your chart with my presence in a while, and I come to find so many weird songs! By weird, I mean, unknown

Still, it's so good to see that I can count on you to chart Baschi <3 I am waiting for my copy of the album to arrive. I always worry that my stuff gets stolen in the way to me, but after having to wait for 3 and a half months for my order once (Anthony Neely and Matt Cardle cds) I kinda am preparing for a long wait. I actually haven't liked much his singles this era, but I will wait until I hear the whole thing to decide if it's better than his classic albums <3

And awwww, you're still charting Matt Cardle!! That's awesome. He has taken way too long to release a new album, and I am in a drought of new music by him. He will deliver another perfect album I am sure, but I just wish he would hurry up!

So amazing to see the Nashville songs make their way into your chart! I am still on season 1. I watch shows at a snail's pace, so I am after like 8 months, still stuck at episode 6 lol I love the show, should watch more often. And can't wait for the character of Chris Carmack to appear in season 2 I think? Have you heard his song "Pieces Of You" from his upcoming EP? It's good stuff, you should take a listen <3

Three months or longer for a CD is a very long time. I can't say that I would be so calm. I've not given the whole Baschi album a chance right now, because I hadn't time to listen to it at the moment. Maybe I'm listening to it in a few weeks when I've not so much to do at work.

Yes I'm still charting the last songs from the 3rd Matt Cardle album. It turned out that it is a little bit better than I thought with the first listen, although the first two albums were better. I hope the new album will be out soon that there is no Matt Cardle break on my chart.

I really like the Nashville show. The 1st season is ending with a nice cliffhanger which is having a lot of influence on the first half of the 2nd season. 6 episodes within 8 months isn't much, but I'm sometimes a binge-watcher and I've to say that I watched the whole 1st season within two weeks and I already watched the whole 2nd season too. There are a lot of great songs in this season which I'm going to chart over the next weeks. So you can find some interesting debuts in this week's edition which is going to be country. Chris Carmack is appearing for the first time in the 1st season, but I personally think that he got better songs in the 2nd season. Unfortunately I've not listened to his songs from the "Piece of you" EP. Thanks for this information. I'll give his singles "Being alone" and "Piece of you" a chance and maybe you'll find this song on my chart soon.

Week 243 – October 24^th, 2015

The motto of the week is “Pop meets Country”. Watching the 2nd season of “Nashville” leads me to listen to some popular country songs in the US or Canada. Here in Austria country isn’t so much popular, but we have our “Volksmusik” or “Schlager” genre which produced some hits on my chart too. This week several country songs are debuting, but let’s start the summary with the Top 10 as always. Austrian local heroes Krautschädl still reign. Their catchy tune “Feiah fonga” (#1) is now for a 3rd week at the top. Sprinting up the chart is Noonie Bao. Last week she reached the Top 10 for the first time with “Pyramids” (#2) and this week she climbed up another four spots to the reach the runner’s up position. And as she is singing

“And now I'm on top of the pyramids, unwind
And I'm never gonna come back down”

it will be hard to knock her off this position although she isn’t already at the top, but near. While “Pyramids” is climbing up other long activity songs in the Top 10 are on their way down. So Kelly Clarkson’s “Someone” (#3) dropped one spot which also did Cro’s “Bye bye” (#4) and Leslie Clio’s “All the other fools” (#5).

Writing about Leslie Clio I’ve to point out that she has now two songs in the Top 10. Her latest “Eureka” (#7) climbed up four spots and brings her up to four Top 10 hits from her “Eureka” album. By the way all other Top 10 hits from this album reached at least #1 so the chances are good that “Eureka” will also top my chart. The other new song is also by a well-known artist. US singer JoJo is celebrating her 2nd Top 10 hit with “When love hurts” (#9) which climbed up five spots. Other songs which lost spots in this week’s Top 10 are Wanda’s “Bussi baby” (#6), Tagtraeumer’s “Brücken zum Mond” (#8) and last but not least Fettes Brot with “Von der Liebe” (#10).

This week’s greatest gainer is split to three acts. All these acts climbed up 17 spots. The highest of these songs is “Same old love” (#31) by Selena Gomez. For “Same old love” it is the 2nd time in a row to earn this award. “Same old love” is followed by a song from the show Nashville. Aubrey Peeples first charting hit “Gonna get even” (#32) did it in its 2nd week on chart. The 3rd one is also a country song. This time from Canada’s Jess Moskaluke with her beautiful “Kiss me quiet” (#54) which missed the Top 50.

Only two songs debuted within the Top 50 this week. Both songs were premiered on the tv series Nashville. The highest debut is by Chris Carmack who is portraying Will Lexington. In the show “What if I was willing” (#48) is his first hit and on my chart he is giving his debut with this song too. I like the catchiness of this song and maybe “What if I was willing” is giving him his 1st Top 20 hit too. Chris Carmack is followed by Clare Bowen. The Australian singer and actress had several hits during season one with her biggest hit “Looking for a place to shine” up-to-date. This week she is debuting with “Waitin’” (#49) which I hadn’t on my radar with the first listen, but this song is getting stronger with every listen.

The Wild Feathers also appeared on Nashville. With “Got it wrong” they had a small appearance on this show, but it was enough to catch my attention. Although their album had been released back in 2013 I liked what I heard so I bought this album and now their 2013 singles “The ceiling” (#72), “Backwoods company” (#73) and “Hard wind” (#74) are giving their debuts on my chart. Sure these songs are a little bit old, but hey this is my chart and I’ve not heard about them before so for me this is a whole new act.

Other new songs on my chart are “Something new” (#59) by Secret Weapons, “Hello” (#80) by Hedley, “Pushing up daisies” (#81) by Hey Romeo, “Heartbeat” (#82) by Carrie Underwood, “Move on” (#83) by Clare Dunn, “Shoot out the lights” (#84) by Caitlyn Shadbolt, “Trouble is” (#85) by Hayden Panettiere, “Tomorrow tonight” (#86) by Craig Campbell, “Lights down low” (#87) by Jessie James Decker, “Already callin’ you mine” (#93) by Parmalee, “Walks all over you” (#94) by Catey Shaw, “Little bit of you” (#95) by Chase Bryant, “One call away” (#96) by Charlie Puth, “Hit the road” (#97) by Waterloo Revivial and “I found you” (#98) by Robyn & Ryleigh.

Week 244 – October 31^st, 2015

Since last week one song is in the focus. Adele released her first single from her upcoming new album “25” and nearly everyone vent something about this song. And who I’m when I’ve not clear opinion to this song. Sure this song isn’t as piano driven as some of her pervious #1’s on my chart, but I absolutely love this song. “Hello” is the third song topping my chart in its first week. Other chart topping debuts had been “Explode” by Cover Drive feat. Dappy back in September 2012 and “You & I” by Anouk back in March 2014. So it is a very rare event on my chart that a song is coming from nowhere and reaches #1 in its first week. On the other hand Adele is a well-known artist who topped my chart before with “Turning tables” (2 weeks), “Set fire to the rain” (2 weeks) and “I’ll be waiting” (1 week). Since these #1’s four years have passed. And now it seems she returned strong enough to dominate my chart again.

While “Hello” (#1) is now a the top of my chart Austrian band Krautschädl had to accept that the run of “Feiah fonga” (#2) is over now. Ultimately I though that Krautschädl could top my chart for weeks, but Adele thwart my planes, but that’s life. “Feiah fonga” is still a very good and catchy song. Unfortunately this song won’t shine from the top spot anymore. Also dropping one spot is “Pyramids” (#3) by Noonie Bao. One German singer who had three #1’s this year is coming from behind. With her latest single “Eureka” (#4) Leslie Clio is reaching once more the Top 5. It will be interesting to see if “Eureka” has enough power to fight with Adele’s “Hello” for the #1. “Eureka” is a very good song, but the #1 fight against “Hello” is hard to predict, but on the other side Leslie Clio is in a good mood this year with three #1’s. At the bottom of the Top 5 is “Someone” (#5) by Kelly Clarkson which lost two spots.

Also losing spots are two of three more former #1’s in my Top 10. Leslie Clio’s “All the other fools” (#6) dropped one spot while “Bye Bye” (#4) by Cro lost three spots. Only Austrian band Tagtraeumer hold their spot with “Brücken zum Mond” (#8). In at #9 is “Superstar wonderful weidros” by Alanis Morissette. This promotional single for the 20th anniversary of “Jagged Little Pill” finally reached the Top 10 after an eight spot climb. For Alanis Morissette “Superstar wonderful wondeiros” is her 7th Top 10 hit. The Top 10 is rounded out by Wanda’s “Bussi baby” (#10).

While Adele is topping the chart with her new song “Hello” in the first week you all have to go down the chart to find the 2nd highest debut. It just gave its debut in the Top 50. It is one of the promotional singles by Ellie Goulding. This year she had a big hit with “Love me like you do” from the “Shades of Grey” soundtrack. Now she returned with the first single “On my mind” from her new album “Delirium”. Sadly I don’t like this song so it will never find its way on my chart. But thank god she released “Something in the way you move” (#48) as promotional song. This is a song I prefere more, but as all this weeks debuts this song is in the shadow of “Hello”. The third Top 50 debut is by British singer Ben Haenow who worked on his debut single with Kelly Clarkson. Their song “Second hand heart” (#50) is giving him his chart debut and for Kelly Clarkson it is her 25th song on my chart.

Week 245 – November 7^th, 2015

Last edition saw the third top debut in the history of my chart. This week “Hello” (#1) by the one and only Adele is holding the spot although “Feiah fonga” (#2) by Krautschädl is giving all to return to the top spot. In the meanwhile Leslie Clio reached this week’s Top 3 with “Eureka” (#3) and she also returned in the Top 5 with “All the other fools” (#5). Caught between these Leslie Clio songs is Noonie Bao. Her gem “Pyramids” (#4) is now dropping the 2nd week in a row and maybe next week she is out of this part, because there are two new songs within the Top 10.

Generally the Top 10 is getting younger this week. After 22 weeks on the chart Austrian band Tagtraeumer had to leave with “Brücken zum Mond” (#12) and the other Austrian band Wanda had to leave after 13 weeks on the chart with “Bussi baby”. This absolutely ends the Austrian run in my top 10 leaving only Krautschädl back in this part of the chart, but back to the topic. Alanis Morissette is now on her way to return into the Top 5. “Superstar wonderful weidros” (#6) climbed up three spots. She is followed by the two acts which are new in this week’s Top 10. First to mention is Taylor Swift. Her wonderful “Wildest dreams” (#7) climbed up four spots. This is nothing against Tove Lo’s climb. “Not on drugs” (#8) had a six spot climb to bring her the 2nd Top 10 hit so far. At the bottom of the Top 10 former #1 “Bye bye” (#9) by Cro and “Someone” (#10) by Kelly Clarkson can be found.

Last week the highest debut topped the chart. This week you have to go down nearly the half of the chart to find this week’s highest debut. On your way down you’ll surpass the greatest gainer of the week which is “Heartbeat” (#43) by Carrie Underwood. After you found this song it is clear that another country song is getting this week’s highest debut. And once more it is a song from the 2nd season of “Nashville”. With their duet “This town” (#47) Clare Bowen and Charles Esten return with another strong output from the show.

Week 246 – November 14^th, 2015

“Hello” (#1) by Adele is blocking the rest of the world for a third consecutive week from reaching #1 on my chart. For Austrian band Krautschädl this means that the will never return to this spot, because in this week they slipped one spot with “Feiah fonga” (#3). Normally a song dropping down in this part of the chart will never return to its peak. New in the runner’s-up position is Leslie Clio. “Eureka” (#2) climbed up one spot and changed the spots with “Feiah fonga”. Time will show if Leslie Clio can set Adele under pressure and take over my chart. Unfortunately I can’t see it happen at the moment, but who knows how I feel in some weeks. For the first time in a while Alanis Morissette reached my Top 5. “Superstar wonderful weirdos” (#4) climbed up two spots. The Top 5 is closed by another two spot climber. And it is also a return in this part of the chart. “Wildest dreams” (#5) by Taylor Swift is her 7th Top 10 hit from “1989”. She also had seven Top 10 hits from “Red”.

“All the other fools” only returned for one week in the Top 5 and this week Leslie Clio’s song dropped four spots and should be out of this part by next week. The other song which left the Top 5 is “Pyramids” (#6) by Noonie Bao which dropped two spots. The only climber in the 2nd half of the Top 10 is “Not on drugs” (#7) by Tove Lo. This song is followed by the only Top 10 debut in this edition. “Same old love” (#8) by Selena Gomez marks her comeback after “Good for you” flopped on my chart. The Top 10 is rounded out by Cro’s “Bye bye” (#10).

Some songs are in a good position for reaching the Top 10 for the first time. Austrian band Count Basic climbed up four spots with “The city” (#11) and should reach this part of the chart. As predicted they failed once more to reach the chart in Austria. Then there is Aubrey Peeples. With “Gonna get even” (#12) she has her 1st Top 20 hit which has also been the 1st Top 20 hit for the TV series “Nashville”. Misterwives are also doing well. “Best I can do” (#15) climbed up two spots and “Hurricane” (#18) premiered in this week’s Top 20 after a six spot climb. I shouldn’t forget Madi Diaz too. “The first time” (#16) is also in a position where a climb into the Top 10 isn’t impossible.

For the highest debut you’ve to go down the chart. Austrian band The Makemakes released their new single “All you ever need” (#43) as a limited free edition on their facebook page. After their participation in this year’s Eurovision Song Contest it had been a little bit calm around them. “All you ever need” is a very strong song which is gaining a lot of airplay in Austria. And as “I’m yours” had been a big hit for them “All you ever need” has everything to do as well as “I’m yours”. “All you ever need” isn’t far behind this week’s greatest gainer which is “Je m’en fous” (#38, “I don’t care”). When Sindy is singing the title of the song I’ve very often a misheard lyric which means that I don’t hear “Je m’en fous” but rather the Upper Austrian dialect word “Schmafu” which stands for “rubbish”. On the other hand the dialect word “Schmafu” grow out of this French sentence, so it isn’t maybe a real misheard lyric.

Week 247 – November 21^st, 2015

There is no change at the top of the chart. Since now four weeks Adele’s “Hello” (#1) is my favourite song of the week and of course there is no end of this particular run in sight. Leslie Clio has to sit still with “Eureka” (#2) and she has to wait for her chance. As I quoted out last week the chance for a #1 comeback Krautschädl’s “Feiah fonga” (#3) is very small. This week they remained at #3, but in the year-end chart they are still climbing up very fast. They only song in the Top 5 which climbed up had been Taylor Swift’s “Wildest dreams” (#4). This part ends with “Superstar wonderful weidros” (#5) by Alanis Morissette. Unfortunately this song won’t be a #1 for her, but it is still a very good song.

The 2nd part of the Top 10 is opened by Tove Lo. Her song “Not on drugs” (#6) climbed up one spot and should be her next Top 5 hit. This week “Not on drugs” changed the spot with “Pyramids” (#7). Noonie Bao’s first Top 10 hit is going down the chart after peaking at #2 four weeks ago. For Selena Gomez it had been a calm week. “Same old love” (#8) didn’t move up and didn’t move down. Then I’ve to welcome two new songs within the Top 10. The first one is from the TV Series Nashville. Finally the first song out of this show reached this part of my chart. Guess which song it is! I’m quite sure that you know that it only can be “Gonna get even” (#9) by Aubrey Peeples. The 2nd new song is “Best I can do” (#10) by Misterwives. I really like this particular song. For them it is their 2nd Top 10 hit and by next week it should be their most successful song on my chart.

Outside the Top 10 Austrian act Count Basic has to wait one more week with “The City” (#11) for joining my Top 10 acts. But I’m sorry to say that there is one high debut that could spoil them this entry. Before I write something about this week’s highest debut I’ve to mention that Sindy’s song “Je m’en fous” (#15) is the 2nd week in a row the greatest gainer of the week. Let’s go back to this week’s highest new entry. The most successful Austrian band on my chart Tagtraeumer released the bands 6th single from their debut album “Alles OK” (“Everything OK”). With “Nichts” (#18, “Nothing”) they debuted right behind their last #1 “Brücken zum Mond” (#17, “Bridges to the moon”). Since their debut with “Sinn” they are rocking my chart and their ballad “Nichts” isn’t changing anything. The refrain to this song isn’t as catchy as the one in “Brücken zum Mond”, but the lyrics in general remove this little mistake. This brilliant song is ready for shooting into the Top 10 by next week and as most of their singles before this song could easily reach my #1. Looking over this week’s chart “Nichts” is maybe the natural follow up to Adele’s monster hit “Hello”.

For the 2nd highest debut you’ve to look outside the Top 30. When you’ve scrolled down you’ll notice that this is another song from an Austrian band. After their successful debut with “Kumm mit kumm aussi” their follow up is “Vergiss mein nicht” (#35, “Forget-me-not”). The lyrics go into the same direction the Tagtraeumer songs go. I absolutely prefer this single over their chart debut. The special thing about “Vergiss mein nicht” is the sax note in this song. Several international top songs had a sax part over the last years and with “Vergiss mein nicht” Solarkreis are the first Austrian band which is jumping on the bandwagon. Beside the sax part the refrain is very interesting and for those who are speaking German the part “Vergiss mein nicht” is sung in the dialect version “Vergiss mi ned”.

Other debuts are “Arriverà l’amore (#41) by Emma, “Was wäre wenn” (#56, “What if”) by Maria Voskania – this song is only a sound cover of Kate Winslet’s big hit “What if” – “Hollow” (#60) by Tori Kelly, “New romantics” (#71) and “Are you in love” (#72) by Taylor Swift, “Septermorgen” (#81, “September morning”) by 48 Stunden, “Ball and chain” (#90) by Connie Britton & Will Chase”, “Summer 2015” (#91) by L.E.J, “Crazy tonight” (#92) by Clare Bowen, “Shotgun” (#96) by Jannine Weigel and “Lay it all on me” (#98) by Rudimental feat. Ed Sheeran.

Week 248 – November 28^th, 2015

This week my review will be shorter than in the previews weeks. But before I start I’ve to apologize for a mistake I made last week. Due to personal stress I listed “Hard wind” by The Wild Feathers as a dropout and left their spot #61 open. I corrected this mistake so you can look over the correct chart for week #247.

Back to the topic. Since four weeks Adele is dominating my chart. And in the fifth week nothing changes. “Hello” (#1) is sitting enthroned at the Top of my chart and for Leslie Clio’s “Eureka” (#2) only the runners-up position was left. New among the Top 3 is “Wildest dreams” (#3) by Taylor Swift. All these artists have topped my chart before so it will be a hard fight for next week’s #1 with a clear advantage by Adele. “Feiah fonga” (#4) by Krautschädl is continuing its drop. This week “Feiah fonga” dropped one spot and is still the highest charting Austrian song. And finally Tove Lo reached the Top 5 with “Not on drogs” while her new one “Moments” is climbing up the charts nearly everywhere.

The 2nd part of the Top 10 is opened by Selena Gomez. Earlier this year she topped my chart with “The heart wants what it wants”. Now she is trying to do it again with “Same old love” (#6) which climbed up two spots in its 9th week on chart. Behind “Same old love” is “Best I can do” (#7). For US alternative band MisterWives this is their 2nd Top 10 hit on my chart following “Our own house”. This week they outperformed “Our own house” with a climb of three spots. Madi Diaz on the other hand returned after a long absence with “The first time” (#8). For her “The first time” is the fourth Top 10 hit out of her “Phantom” album. Congrats for that. Nashville star Aubrey Peeples is holding the spot with her teen country song “Gonna get even” (#9). The Top 10 is rounded out by Alanis Morissette. Her “Jagged little pill” celebrating song “Superstar wonderful weidros” (#10) dropped five spots.

This week sees two greatest gainer of the week. “Perfect” (#48) by One Direction and “New romantics” (#49) by Taylor Swift climbed up 23 spots. Now I’ve to point out that this week there are only three debuts. The highest is by Austrian band Kompass Nord. Their 2nd single “Zurück ans Meer” (#83, “Back to the sea”) isn’t as catchy as their Top 10 hit “Nacktbaden” (#55) but it gives them a 2nd hit on my chart. The other debuts are by Aubrey Peeples with “Tell me” (#96) and Waterloo Revival with “Bad for you” (#97).

Week 249 – December 5^th, 2015

With big steps the year 2015 is going to an end. With this edition the last month of the year has been opened and still at #1 is Adele’s “Hello”. For a 6th week this song is topping my chart. Only one song by Leslie Clio topped my chart longer this year. I’m pretty sure that “Hello” will do well in my year-end, but more in a later edition. For the first time in the last few weeks it had been a tough decision for “Hello” being my #1. Leslie Clio’s “Eureka” (#2) isn’t far behind and next week Leslie Clio could gain her next #1 which would bring her up to four this year. Still at #3 is Taylor Swift’s “Wildest dreams”. At #4 the next non-mover can be found. It’s “Feiah fonga” by Austrian band Krautschädl. The first song climbing up within the Top 10 is “The first time” (#5) by Madi Diaz. “The first time” is a nice alternative electronic pop song which bring Madi Diaz back into the Top 5.

Alternative band MisterWives is also doing well. “Best I can do” (#6) climbed up one spot and is now knocking heavily at the door to the Top 5. Austrian band Tagtraeumer are knocking a little bit harder at the door. Their song “Nichts” (#7) climbed up five spots and is the newbie within the Top 10. I bet that this song will not stay long in the lower part of the Top 10. By next week “Nichts” will be in the Top 5 at least and than Tagtraeumer will attack the #1. For Selena Gomez the Top 10 run with “Same old love” (#8) is going to an end after a drop of two spots. Tove Lo’s “Not on drugs” (#9) dropped four spots. The Top 10 is rounded out by another dropper. Aubrey Peeples country pop song “Tell me” (#10) dropped one spot, but anyway she could celebrate this week.

In the next part of this 249th edition of my chart the highest debut can be found. It is by German newcomer Alex Diehl. I’ve to point out that I’ve not heard about him before. After the attacks in Paris he wrote “Nur ein Lied” (#17, “Just a song”). “Nur ein Lied” is a very down-to-earth song. It is all about a man singing with his guitar. The lyrics are very meaningful and powerful. In general this song is standing in the line with other peace songs like “Ein bisschen Frieden” (“A little peace”) by Nicole who won the Eurovision Song Contest with this song, John Lennon’s “Imagine” which is referenced in this particular song or Bob Dylan’s “Blowing in the wind”.

Two more songs debuted within this week’s Top 50. The 2nd best is by Austrian band Seiler und Speer. All with them began as fun project. Now they are really big in Austria. Their song “Ham kummst” (“Coming home”) topped the chart and now their 2nd single “Soits lebn” (#39, “Should live”) debuted in Austria as well as on my chart. Both songs are in the tradition of the Austro Pop and "Ham kummst" is hitting the spirit of the time. In the US country music scene there is a particular trend with songs about drinking beer, drinking whiskey or so on. “Ham kummst” and “Soits lebn” are definitely part of this general genre without being country songs at all. Normally I’m not into this particular songs because I don’t drink any alcohol, but I absolutely can understand why these songs are such big hits for this band.

The other debut within the Top 50 is by German and maybe Austrian girl band La Goassn. One of the members of this band could be from Austria, but I’m not sure about this fact. This week they are debuting with the B-side of their single “Mehr mehr mehr” (“More more more”) which dropped out of my chart this week. “Weil ich ein Mädchen bin” (#47, “Because I’m a girl”) is a cover of one of my favourite tunes of the 1990’s by Lucilectric. “Mädchen” (“Girl”) had been Lucilectric’s first hit and their follow-up “Hey Süsser” (“Hey sweatheart”) topped the chart in Austria. I love both songs and I really like the cover of “Mädchen”.

Week 250 – December 12^th, 2015

Yahoo! We’re goin’ to a celebration. It’s absolutely amazing to celebrate the 250th edition of my chart. Nearly five years ago I started again to do my countdown and since this time I’ve discovered such great music. Many of the songs I’d not have discovered if not doing my personal chart. So thanks you for the music. Such a celebration can’t be done without a little recap and statistic part.

Back in March 2011 is re-started charting and I opened with a #1 from Austria. Do you remember Anj Major Dude? Their debut single “July July” topped my chart for four weeks and ended as #17 in the shortened year-end review. The promising career came to a standstill since this time. Only a Nirvana cover of “Heart shaped box” also made it into my countdown, but since “July July” it is quite calm about them. My first every year-end winner in 2011 had been Adele’s “Turning tables”. What a wonderful song! Not even her short break changed her domination as “Hello” shows which topped my chart for six weeks until this week. Later you’ll find out if there is a chance for a 7th week at the top. In 2012 Matt Cardle’s “Starlight”, in 2013 Jillette Johnson’s “Torpedo” and in 2014 Emma’s “L’amore non mi basta” topped my year-end chart. Emma’s song had been the 1st song not in English to reach this position. In a total with this edition 1843 artists/bands debuted on my chart with 2946 songs. In about five or six weeks I should surpass the 3000 mark. It is a nearly unbelievable number of songs I listened to in the last years.

Writing about records I’ve to mention “Receive” by Alanis Morissette which topped my chart for 10 weeks in two runs 2012 and 2013. The most successful artist is Anouk. Among 31 charting songs she had 14 Top hits and nine #1’s including this year’s smash “New day” or the #2 of 2014 “I won’t play that game (live)”- the highest charting live song. Anouk spent 146 weeks in my Top 10 and generated 588 charting weeks with all of her songs. But among all these records the record for the longest charting run goes to Italian Emma. “L’amore non mi basta” charted for 64 weeks with 27 weeks within the Top 10. Only three songs outreached the year mark. The others had been “Receive” (60 weeks) by Alanis Morissette and “Torpedo” (53 weeks) by Jillette Johnson.

But enough of the records, let’s go to the countdown of the 250th edition of my chart. Last week Adele topped my chart for a 6th consecutive week with “Hello”. And what is better to celebrate the 250th edition with a new #1. Leslie Clio took over with “Eureka” (#1) and knocked Adele down to size. So “Hello”'s (#2) place is now the runners-up position. “Wildest dreams” (#3) by Taylor Swift is completing the podium, but the pressure is high. Austrian Tagtraeumer are now for the first time in the Top 5 with their new hit “Nichts” (#4, “Nothing”). It’s another gem by them and if it goes well “Nichts” will be the bands next #1. This leads my to Madi Diaz who had a #1 last year with “Stay together”. “The first time” (#5) is a very good song, but because of the new Tagtraeumer single “Nichts” I didn’t see her reaching #1.

Directly behind the Top 5 is the one and only new song within the Top 10. It is by French singer Sindy. In Austria French singer Louane with “Avenir” and Austrian Zoë with “Mon cœur a trop aimé” are very big in these days. However I go with the relatively unknown Sindy. Her single is working better for me and so “Je m’en fous” (#6, “I don’t care”) did the last step to reach my Top 10. One spot behind is former #1 “Feiah fonga” (#7) by Austrian band Krautschädl which lost three spots. Alternative act MisterWives also dropped two spots with “Best I can do” (#8). At the bottom of the Top 10 Selena Gomez with “Same old love” (#9) and Tove Lo with “Not on drugs” can be found.

The highest debut is placed nine spots behind this week’s greatest gainer which is “Damage done” (#38) by Leslie Clio. It is unbelievable how well her songs are doing for me at the moment. “Damage done” is no exception and so it is only a matter of time when this song will enter my Top 10, but back to the topic. The highest debut is by German Jamie-Lee Kriewitz. You don’t know her? Me neither! A look at the calendar points out that it is December. And since a few years December is the time when all the participants of the Voice or X-Factor shows over the world release their maybe winning singles. Jamie-Lee Kriewitz debut single “Ghost” (#47) is the favourite in this year’s season of The Voice of Germany. Last year’s winner Charley Ann Schmutzler is lost in the orbit, although I really love her winning single “Blue heart”. “Ghost” isn’t the only song from The Voice of Germany which can be found in this week’s edition. Other debuts from this show are “Loveless” (#51) by Austrian Denise Beiler – her sister Nadine Beiler won the Austrian version “Starmania” back in 2007 –, “Ich wünschte du könntest das sehen” (#89, “I wish you could see it”) by Dimi Rompos and “Queen of the night” (#96) by Mary Summer. The only song in the final will be “Ghost” because the other candidates from The Voice of Germany dropped out. From X-Factor Australia “History” (#86) by Louise Adams and “Nothing matters” (#87) by Jess & Matt gave their debut.

Other new songs without a casting show background are “Monster lead me home” (#61) by Sara Hartman, “Run or hide” (#62) by Run River North, “Demon days (do it all again)” (#88) by Wild Wild Horses, “Am Boden” (#90, “On the floor”) by Ado Kojo, “Pushing through” (#92) by Caitlyn Shadbolt, “Don’t you give up on me” (#95) by Lissie and “Tell me if you know” (#97) by Letty.
