Nice debut for Carrie Underwood but a shame to see Night Terrors of 1927/Tegan & Sara out of the top ten this week.

Week 208 – February 21^st, 2015

My feelings got right. With a two spot climb Kelly Clarkson got her fifth #1 and the first since June 2013 when she topped the chart with “People like us” for one week. “Heartbeat song” (#1) is a great first single from her upcoming album “Peace by peace”. Kelly Clarkson stopped Jillette Johnson topping the chart for a 2nd week with “17” (#2) which dropped one. Satin Circus also climbed up one with “Crossroads” (#3) and is now completing the podium. Two weeks ago the Voice of Germany winner Charley Ann Schmutzler topped the chart with “Blue heart” (#4). This week “Blue heart” dropped two spots and is now outside the Top 3. Still in the Top 5 is Selena Gomez with “The heart wants what it wants” (#5) which brings her a 12th consecutive week in the Top 5.

Behind the Top 5 there hadn’t been a lot of action this week. Still in striking distance is “Say you love me” (#6) by Jessie Ware. By next week this song should be in the Top 5. I really like this song and the chorus at the end is lifting up this song. “Say you love me” is followed by Ellie Goulding’s “Love me like you do” (#7). “Love me like you do” develops as her biggest hit – not even on my chart. At the moment this song seems to be everywhere including #1 in Austria. This should help her to do the next step on my chart. At #8 there is the next non-mover with “Phoenix” by Molly Sandén. The only change had been the position change between Tagträumer’s “Tagträumen” (#9) and Matt Cardle’s “Hit my heart” (#10).

This week’s highest new entry is by a new band from the UK. After the first listen to “Anyway” (#18) I knew that I like this 1980’s inspired song by New Motion, but I never thought that this song will debut as high as it did. In the end I was surprised how often I listened to this song this week. Due to this fact “Anyway” got it big debut within the Top 20. The next weeks will show if this high debut is only a flash in the pan or they will attack the Top 10. At the moment some of the high new entries of the last two weeks aren’t in the position to attack the Top 10, but these songs aren’t far away from a spot in the Top 20 such like “Was ist los” (#21) by EAV, “Weak heart” (#22) by Zara Larsson or “Little toy gun” (#26) by Carrie Underwood.

The first time I heard of Tori Kelly had been when she was featured on Professor Green’s song “Lullaby” (#62 in the year-end of 2014). She had released some songs before which I listened too, but I won’t chart. “Lullaby” gave her carrier a new boost and now she released another solo single. “Nobody love” (#28) is her first output since the single with Professor Green. This song is produced by Max Martin and has written hit all over it. As “Anyway” I hadn’t this song on my shortlist for a high new entry, but this song is getting better with every listen and at least it should perform as well as “Lullaby” did. Debuting at #28 is good, but it isn’t giving her the same pressure as the Top 20 debut which New Motion have.

For a third week in a row I’ve the same greatest gainer of the week. It’s once more “A little too late” (#36) by Matt Cardle. This week “A little too late” climbed up 15 spots to gain a spot within the Top 40. Because this song isn’t near the Top 30 it is possible that Matt Cardle is getting the award for the greatest gainer of the week for a fourth time next week. Three weeks with the same greatest gainer are a record for the history books and should be there for a very long time except Matt Cardle is doing the same next week.

Week 209 – February 28^th, 2015

This week there had been a little bit more action in the Top 10 than last week, but there is no new #1. Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat song” (#1) still shining from the top. She is followed by Finnish act Satin Circus. There song “Crossroads” (#2) only finished in the runners-up position this week. Not even on my chart. Also in the Finnish preselection for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna. It’s such a shame that they won’t represent Finland, because I think that this song could’ve won this contest. The last song at this week’s podium is “17” by Jillette Johnson. This former #1 dropped one spot. Climbing up three spots is “Love me like you do” (#4) by Ellie Goulding which is now her best charting song, because “Burn” only peaked at #5. The 2nd new song in the Top 5 is Jessie Ware’s “Say you love me” (#5).

With two new songs in the Top 5 the “rest” of the Top 10 starts with two songs which had been in the Top 5 by last week. “Blue heart” (#6) by Charley Ann Schmutzler dropped two spots. The other former #1 “The heart wants what it wants” (#7) by Selena Gomez also dropped two spots, but with 16 weeks on my chart this is forgivable. “Phoenix” (#8) by Molly Sandén and “Tagträumen” (#9) by Tagträumer didn’t move this week. The only new song in this week’s Top 10 is by Italian rock band Modá. The cooperation with Emma brought them their first Top 10 hit with “Come in un film” (#10).

After three weeks in a row Matt Cardle didn’t grab the greatest gainer award. His beautiful “A little to late” (#28) only climbed up eight spots this week. The biggest climbed had been by a country song this week. It’s “My mistake” (#61) by newcomer Cam. This song sticks in your head if you let it happen. The next weeks will show if Cam’s big climb is only a storm in a teacup or if she is ready for reaching the higher parts of the chart.

The highest new entry is a premiere. It’s the first mashup song on my chart and the first by a member of M4B (Pipa). Jefferson Airplane’s “Somebody to love” meets Lady Gaga’s “Applause”. I’ve to say first that “Somebody to love” wasn’t as familiar to me as “Applause”. The instrumental of “Applause” works well with “Somebody to love”. Back in 2013 “Applause” peaked at #22 and therefore this mashup should reach the Top 30 at least. As “Somebody to love” is sung by Grace Slick I credit this song to her. This mashup “Somebody to applause” by Grace Slick feat. Lady Gagy entered the chart at #43 which is a solid start. A little bit down the chart another mashup, this time an acoustic mashup, give its debut. It is “The monsters vs. Wake me up” (#60) by Megan & Jaclyn Davies.

Other debuts are “Falling fast” (#62) and “Hush hush” (#63) by Avril Lavigne, “Better than this” (#82) by Marion Raven, “On & off” (#83) by Krista Siegfrids, “I like” (#84) by Tayler Buono, “Time machine” (#85) by Ingrid Michaelson, “Reason” (#98) by Cascada and “The day before I met you” (#99) by Jessica Mauboy.

Week 210 – March 7^th, 2015

Finnish Satin Circus tried to steal the #1 from Kelly Clarkson. They got caught and so Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat song” (#1) gets another round at the top of the chart. For “Crossroads” (#2) which sadly isn’t part of the Eurovision Song Contest only the runners-up position was left. New at the podium is “Love me like you do” (#3) by Ellie Goulding. “Love me like you do” is her first Top 3 hit on my chart and it is the first song from a soundtrack that reached Top 3. Behind these songs Selena Gomez is celebrating an incredible return. “The heart wants what it wants” (#4) climbed back three spots and is trying to attack ones more the Top 3. At the bottom of the Top 5 Jessie Ware’s “Say you love me” (#5) can be found.

One of my favourite female singer of 2014 Jillette Johson seems to have lost the spirt. Her former #1 “17” (#3) dropped three spots and spends its first week out of the Top 5 since the end of January. Also dropping down is “Blue heart” (#7) by Charley Ann Schmutzler who recently announced that her debut album won’t be out before the end of April. I’m curious about this album so I hope that it will be good. The same counts for Austrian band Tagträumer who recently changed their band name to Tagtraeumer to – I think – avoid copy right problems, because there is a German Schlager band of the same name. By the way “Tagtraeumen” (#10) is the first single which has been released under the “new” name and “Sinn” has also been re-released under this new name. Their debut album “Alles OK” (“Everything OK”) should be ready for release by the end of the month. In the middle of these songs can be found Molly Sandén’s “Phoenix” (#8) and the only new song in the Top 10. It’s “Wish for you” (#9) by Raylee. Raylee also released her new single “Louder” for her participation in the Norwegian qualification for the Eurovision Song Contest, but “Louder” don’t met my expectations and from my current point of view I won’t chart this song.

This week sees 14 new entries which are quite a lot. The curious fact about these new entries is that only one song debuted within in the Top 50. And this song isn’t even a regular single. The highest debut is by Kate Voegele. “Carousel” (#48) is a great song from her EP “Wild Card”. I personally think that “Carousel” is catchier than “Just watch me” (#60) which dropped ten spots this week. A little bit up the chart as related to “Carousel” is the greatest gainer of the week. It is “What kind of man” (#38) which climbed up 21 spots and is by Florence + The Machine. This is their first song they placed within the Top 40.

Other new entries are “Friday nigh” (#83) by The Shires, “Caught up in you” (#84) by Kate Voegele feat. Week 211 – March 14^th, 2015

The Eurovision Song Contest preselection is coming to an end this weekend. Almost every country has chosen its representative. As mentioned in the previous weeks Finland didn’t sent Satin Circus to Vienna. On my chart they dethroned Kelly Clarkson this week. Back in 2013 Satin Circus dominated the chart with “Emma” for four weeks. Two years later they scored the bands third #1 with “Crossroads” (#1). Therefor Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat song” (#2) dropped one down and is now in the runners-up position. Still at #3 is “Love me like you do” by Ellie Goulding. Last week she reached this position and this week she didn’t gave it up. After returning into the Top 5 “The heart wants what it wants” (#4) by Selena Gomez is holding the position as Ellie Goulding or Jessie Ware’s “Say you love me” (#5) in the Top 5.

The last non-mover in the Top 10 is “17” (#6) by Jillette Johnson. “17” is the last Top 10 hit from her “Water in a whale” era, because I now charted every song from this album. I’m looking forward for new material from her, but in the meantime “17” succeeds in the Top 10. “Phoenix” (#7) by Molly Sandén climbed up one spot. At #8 the first new song in the Top 10 can be found. It’s the 80’s look-a-like song “Anyway” (#8) by British newcomer band New Motion. They sound is unique and especially I like when they sing

I never wanted you anyway
When you were mine
I wasted my time
(I wasted my time)
And I spent too much of yesterday
Calling your name
But I'll be ok

New Motion is ready for the next big step and could be another newcomer band with a #1 hit with their first charting song. At #9 there is Tove Lo. Last week it seemed that she is on her way out of the Top 20, but after my recent album purchases – among others is “Queen of the clouds” – she comes back strong and now she scored her first Top 10 hit with “Habits (stay high)” which is not the remix version I’m charting. These songs replaces “Tagtraeumen” (#12) by Tagtraeumer and “Wish for you” (#11) by Raylee. Rounding out the Top 10 is former #1 “Blue heart” (#10) by Charley Ann Schmutzler.

Last week I debuted 14 songs with “Carousel” (#25) by Kate Voegele leading this bunch of new entries. This week “Carousel” sprinted up the chart with a climb of 23 spots. This catchy song is sticking in my head and should bring her another Top 10 hit very fast. As last week this 211th edition also sees 14 new entries which are influenced by the Eurovision Song Contest although the highest new entry isn’t part of the preselection and the Austrian participants are debuting next week. Lauro Tesoro is a young Belgian singer and actress who is mostly know for her role in the Belgian TV show “Familie” ("Family"). Her 2nd single “Funky love” (#27) has the retro sound with which Dutch singer Caro Emerald or in recent times Meghan Trainor had big hits. “Funky love” is as catchy as the mention “All about the bass” and should do well for her and a debut in the Top 30 is a good future outlook too.

I wrote it before that this week is influenced by entries which are competing for the Eurovision Song Contest or songs which lost in the preselection as the recent #1 by Satin Circus. The highest debut of these songs is from Estonia. This year they are sending a duet to Vienna. Therefor they are compared to last years runner-up The Common Linets with their beautiful simple song “Calm after the storm” which reached Top 10 positions all over Europe. In my opinion the duet part is the only thing they have in common with last year’s Dutch contribution. “Goodbye to yesterday” (#34) by Elina Born – who had a minor hit on my chart last year – and Stig Rästa is the song the Estonian voters want for Vienna. “Goodbye to yesterday” also works with a reduced sound, but it is more on the retro side. The song itself tells the story of the end of a relationship from two point of views. Stig Rästa is singing about leaving the girl, because his love isn’t deep enough and that’s the reason why he didn’t woke her up befor leaving. Elina Born’s part is the opposite. She would’ve fought for the relationship if he would’ve woken her up. This song should do well and then there is a big chance for Estonia ending in the Top 5. Another song debuting from the Estonian preselection is “Burning lights” (#97) by Daniel Levi.

Then there is Germany. They are sending Ann Sophie to Vienna who didn’t won the preselection with her song “Black smoke” (#35). It had been a big scandal that winner Andreas Kümmert decided live on stage that he won’t represent Germany with his beautiful song “Heart of stone” (#60). The reasons why former “The Voice of Germany” winner refused to represent Germany in Vienna are still not clear. I’m sure that “Heart of stone” could’ve done well in Vienna, but in my eyes “Black smoke” is the better choice. Behind “Black smoke” is an international team of writers including Ella McMahon who is better known under her stage name Ella Eyre. The song itself is a little bit dark in the way I always like. “Black smoke” is Ann Sophie’s highest new entry. She entered the preselection in the wild card round with her single “Jump the gun” (#39) which now also can be found on this list.

In between of these Eurovision songs there is the debut by Carly Rae Jepsen. Her phenomenal “Call me maybe” turned into a classic tune and isn’t forgotten. “I really like you” (#38) is her new single and should reach the Top 20 at least. Unfortunately Carly Rae Jepsen hasn’t placed a song at #1 until now. Maybe “I really like you” can change this fact. Then there are two more songs which got there debut out of the album purchase I’ve done during the last weak. While “Habits (stay high)” reached a Top 10 spot for Tove Lo the US Indie rock band Cold War Kids and the US Indie pop band MisterWives got their first hits on the chart. Both songs “All this could be yours” (#38) and “Reflections” (#40) are a little bit older, but I discovered their albums – “Hold my home” by Cold War Kids and “Our own house” by MisterWives – when they were featured on the novelties section on spotify.

Other new entries are “Pray to God” (#49) by Calvin Harris feat. Haim, “Cecilia and the satellite” (#85) by Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, “Night we won’t forget” (#87) by Jess Moskaluke, “Your love is mine” (#89) by I Am They and “A l’attaque” (#96) by Maude feat. Romy M.

Week 212 – March 21^st, 2015

Last week this year’s Eurovision Song Contest cast its shadow ahead with the Finnish band Satin Circus topping my chart. This week they are smiling again at the top of the chart, but it had been a tough fight for them. “Crossroads” (#1) won over “Anyway” (#2) by New Motion in a last minute decision. Both songs would’ve earned to be #1 in week 212, but there is only one #1 spot, no place for a draw and this week I go once more with Satin Circus. Anyway the runners-up position for “Anyway” by New Motion is more than a respectable spot for a newcomer band with their first chart hit. For Kelly Clarkson’s “Heartbeat song” (#3) only the last spot at the podium was left over, but it doesn’t mean that this song has lost its spirit. It only means that I listened more to two other songs. Also dropping down is Ellie Goulding. Some weeks ago I thought about putting “Love me like you do” (#4) to #1. All plans are now worth nothing, because she dropped one spot and I think there is no chance that “Love me like you do” will return as strong as in the past. This fact is caused by two reasons. The first is that “Crossroads” and “Anyway” are too strong at the moment.

The other fact is that the greatest gainer of the week entered this week’s Top 5. Last week Kate Voegele sprinted all the way to #25 with “Carousel”. As I pointed out over the last two weeks I think that this song is very, very catchy. “Carousel” (#5) is sticking firmly in my head and I had no other “choice” than to listen to this song over and over again. As a result “Carousel” sprinted up the chart another 20 spots and is now at #5. “Carousel” is Kate Voegele’s 10th Top 10 hit out of 15 charting songs and maybe her 4th chart topper. While “Carousel” entered the Top 5, Selena Gomez’s Top 5 comeback with “The heart wants what it wants” (#6) ended after two weeks. Also out of the Top 5 after several weeks is “Say you love me” (#7) by Jessie Ware. Last week my recent album purchase pushed Tove Lo into the Top 10. This week “Habits (stay high)” (#8) climbed up one spot to another peak. “Phoenix” (#9) by Molly Sandén and “17” (#10) by Jillette Johnson are rounding out this week’s Top 10.

The highest new entry is by the Austrian representative for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. The Makemakes won the preselection with their ballad “I am yours” (#33). “I am yours” is so far their best song in my eyes. I charted them before with “The lovercall” (peak #70) and “Million Euro smile” (peak #36), but both didn’t reach the Top 20 which is within reach for “I am yours”. I won’t to say anything bad about the other songs which could’ve represent Austria, but “I am yours” is the best choice Austria could’ve made. The only other song out of the preselection which made it into my chart is “Utopia” (#83) by Celina Ann. In the end “Utopia” is no bad song, but will not reach the higher parts of my chart.

The only other new song reaching the Top 50 is a song by German punk rock band Donots. Over the years they released several albums, but “Karacho” is the first in German language. While I didn’t chart their first single “Ich mach nicht mehr mit” (“I don’t back out”), their 2nd single easily entered the Top 50. Their song “Dann ohne mich” (#48, “Then without me”) is about a current political topic in German. At the moment there is a movement in Germany called “Pegida (Patriotische Europäer gegen die Islamisierung des Abendlandes)” – founded in October last year – which is also starting in Austria too in these days. For those who are not firm with German “Pegida” stands for “Patriotic Europeans Against the Islamization of the Occident”. The Donots take a clear stance against this movement and their right paroles. The lyric video to this song is pointing out similarities with the National Socialism and is absolutely worth watching even without understanding German. Tolerance should be the goal of our civilization and I hope that this movement will end as soon as it started.

Week 213 – March 28^th, 2015

Two months ago “Crossroads” by Satin Circus and “Heartbeat song” by Kelly Clarkson debuted in the Top 10. It doesn’t happen very often that there are two Top 10 debuts at once. As two months ago this week sees once more two debuts in the Top 10. For all of these debuting artists it is their first Top 10 hit on my chart and for one it is generally their first hit on my chart, but first things first. After spending two weeks at the top “Crossroads” (#2) dropped one and is dethroned by New Motion’s “Anyway” (#1). Last week it had been a tough and late decision for Satin Circus. This week it was the other war round. New Motion grab their first #1 on my chart with the extremely cool 80’s style “Anyway”. Although “Anyway” is a real gem I don’t see this song very long at the top of the chart because there is one song beside this week’s highest new entries that has everything for a long time #1. It’s “Carousel” (#5) by Kate Voegele who climbed another two spots with this song. “Carousel” is now completing the podium and eventually climbs to #1 by next week. “Love me like you do” (#4) by Ellie Goulding is holding stable while “Heartbeat song” (#5) by Kelly Clarkson is going down two spots.

It is clear that #5 is followed by #6. This brings me to this week’s highest debut. Outside of the tri-border area Germany, Switzerland and Austria there are only a few people who know German singer Leslie Clio. She had her first hit with her debut “Told you so” late in 2012 when she peaked at #11 on my chart with this song. Her major breakthrough in this tri-border area had been “I couldn’t care less” in 2013 which only peaked at #33 on my chart. “I could care less” is still a regular on Austrian radio stations. Last week Leslie Clio debuted her new video to “My heart ain’t that broken” to promote the first single from her new album “Eureka”. The song opens with a version of the “Hey” we all now from The Lumineers and a little bit of clapping. Her song about getting over the Ex and the process of separation is very well packed into interesting lyrics and a catchy refrain. And the first thing I noticed during the very first listen had been the reference to The Beach Boys when she sings about “Help me Rhonda” in the style The Beach Boys have done. I personally think that “My heart ain’t that broken” is the best song released by a German artist over the last years and the only song which could prevent “My heart ain’t that broken” from topping the chart for a very long time is “Carousel” by Kate Voegele. Unfortunately the video isn’t as good as the song.

Right behind this week’s highest debut is former #1 “The heart wants what it wants” (#7) by Selina Gomez. “The heart wants what it wants” is the evergreen in my Top 10. It spent 18 of its 20 weeks in the Top 10 and although this song is going down it should spent at least 20 weeks in the Top 10 and these two weeks are the major goal. At #8 the next new song in the Top 10 can be found. It’s the solo chart debut “Nobody love” by Tori Kelly. With “Nobody love” she proved that with the right material she can be a big star. Maybe “Nobody love” won’t be a #1 on my chart, but this song is lifting her up to new spheres.

“Nobody love” is followed by the 2nd straight debut within the Top 10. It’s by a band and a genre I’ve not imagined that it could be possible to enter my Top 10. Remember the last Funk/R&B/Disco song “Uptown funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars which never found its way on my chart. Generally I’m not a big fan of the disco/funk area in the 1970’s and early 1980’s, but there are some songs I like out of this genre too. Now a band out of this area is giving their comeback. 23 years after their last album “Chic-Ism” they are promoting their new single and their first album in over two decades. The last time Chic had hit in Austria had been with “Chic mystique” back in 1992 which is several years before I had done my very first chart. Now they are giving their comeback under Chic feat. Nile Rodgers. I can’t name it, but their comeback “I’ll be there” (#9) has something I really like and in the end this song had been among my most played songs this week. It’s not that I see this song at #1 in the future (maybe I’m wrong), but there is a bright outlook and this song should reach the Top 3 in the next weeks. This week’s Top 10 is closed with “Habits (stay high)” by Tove Lo.

Outside the Top 10 there is a scramble for the top position for next week’s top 10. In the range are “Tomorrow” (#13) by Madi Diaz, “Style” (#16) by Taylor Swift or “Hold me” (#19) by Anouk & Douwe Bob to name some of the artists who had a Top 10 hit in the past. Interesting about this week’s chart is also that the greatest gainer of the week are the two songs by Revolverheld. Both “Hinter der Elbe New York” (#64) and “Worte die bleiben” (#63) are behind this week’s greatest dropper “Come in un film” (#47) by Modà feat. Emma.

Week 214 – April 4^th, 2015

For the third week in a row my charts sees a new #1. Last week New Motion clinched the fight. “Anyway” (#2) climbed up to #1, but this week it dropped one spot and is only in the runners-up position. Normally dropping down from the top spot means that there is no chance for a return, but this time they could have chances for climbing back, because they are only in their 7th week. “Anyway” is out performed by “Carousel” (#1). Kate Voegele’s latest smash climbed up two spots. “Carousel” is her 4th #1. At the moment “Say you’re mine” is holding her record for sitting three weeks at the top back in 2012. I’ve the feelings that this record could be broken, if … . Yes, if there wouldn’t be Leslie Clio. Her recent single “My heart ain’t that broken” (#3) debuted last week and a week later it entered the Top 3. All signs show that “My heart ain’t that broken” will climb to #1 very fast. It will be interesting to see which of these three songs will be longer at #1. Former #1 “Crossroads” (#4) by Satin Circus dropped one and is now officially out of the #1 race, if … If wishes were horses, beggars would ride and my pocket would be full of cents. Surprisingly the Top 5 is closed with “Love me like you do” (#5) by Ellie Goulding. A week ago I felt that this song wouldn’t be found in the Top 5.

One step closer to the Top 5 is “Nobody love” (#5). Tori Kelly’s fantastic song rose two steps in its 2nd week in the Top 10. “Nobody love” is followed by last week’s 2nd highest debut. “I’ll be there” (#7) didn’t lost its magic and brings Chic feat. Nile Rodgers a little bit nearer to the Top 5. Both songs pass by “Heartbeat song” (#8). Although Kelly Clarkson topped the chart three weeks with this song it seems that the end of the Top 10 run ins near after only spending 11 weeks on my chart. Selena Gomez could profit from this drop by next week. She is fighting for her 20th week in the Top 10 with “The heart wants what it wants” (#9) and a drop out is near, but she should manage it. The only free spot in this week’s Top 10 went to Madi Diaz. “Tomorrow” (#10) is her 2nd Top 10 following her #1 smash “Stay together” (#38) and replaces "Habits (stay high)" (#12) by Tove Lo.

Before I write something about this week’s new entries I’ve to point out that “Somebody” (#55) by Natalie La Rose feat. Jeremih is this week’s greatest gainer. Last week saw two new entries which directly debuted in my Top 10. This week it is quite the opposite. The highest new entry isn’t even close to the Top 80. Britney Spears’ “Now that I found you” (#86) is this week’s highest new entry. Sure this song isn’t a regular single, but in May she will release her new single “Pretty girls”. That means that “Now that I found you” will never be released as a regular, so I decided to chart this song now. Among the other new entries there are some artists who had already a #1 song on my chart. These are Autumn Hill and Jukebox The Ghost. At this point I don’t see that their new single will meet this expectations although the songs “Blame” (#94) by Autumn Hill and “Postcard” (#93) by Jukebox The Ghost are good.

Other new entries are “If I go” (#87) by Ella Eyre, “Iris (hold me close)” (#88) and “Volcano” (#89) by U2, “Hold my hand” (#92) by Jess Glynne, “Until the last goodbye” (#95) by Jackie Thomas and “Want to want me” (#98) by Jason Derulo.

Hey Mike, long time it has been! I never followed Satin Circus a lot, got the songs from you, and never liked the album in full. I was under the impression it was some type of boyband, where all play instruments but also all sang. So it was surprising to see only one singing everything. Plus, did you notice how the keyboards guy looks to the singer with eyes of love? lol jajajajajaja Good song, never had listened to it if not for your chart.

I love that Hit My Heart from Matt Cardle made it to number one!! Matt is simply amazing <3

By the way, I'd like to suggest a song to you, Crash and Burn by Thomas Rhett. It's a country song, but sounds like pop. I think you should like it

Yeah. "Carousel" is a great tune and I enjoy every listen. And I think that it doesn't happen very often that someone else has a song by Kate earlier at #1 than you.

I've not notice these facts. You're right their debut album isn't very good, but I hope that the direction they go now with "Crossroads" will end with a better album.

Week 215 – April 11^th, 2015

Congratulation to Kate Voegele. After have several weeks in a row with new #1’s “Carousel” is holding the top position for a 2nd week. She is followed by German singer Leslie Clio. Her recent “My heart ain’t that broken” (#2) climbed up one spot and is now in the runners-up position. It will be a tough fight by next week for the top spot of my chart. In the duel New Motion wasn’t able to intervene. Their song “Anyway” (#3) dropped in its 8th week on chart one spot and is completing the podium. Finnish band Satin Circus is very stable with “Crossroads” (#4). With “Crossroads” they are going a new direction and I hope the will go this all the way down. For the first time within the Top 5 is Tori Kelly. While she supported Professor Green for her first Top 20 hit, this time she did it all alone. “Nobody love” (#5) is lifting her career to a new high and maybe she is a future star.

Former top new entry “I’ll be there” (#6) brings the 70’s style almost into my Top 5. Chic now credited as Chic feat. Nile Rodgers has absolutely the potential to reach the Top 5 next week. But potential isn’t all. The songs in the Top 5 will defend their positions with tooth and nail so that it could be awhile until Chic will enter the Top 5. After last week’s bigger drop Kelly Clarkson returns to a better spot. “Heartbeat song” (#7) climbed up one spot and is now leaving Ellie Goulding’s “Love me like you do” (#9) behind. Between these songs there is Madi Diaz’s 2nd Top 10 hit from her 4th album “Phantom”. “Tomorrow” (#8) climbed up two spots and should do a little bit better next week. The Top 10 is rounded out with “The heart wants what it wants” (#10). The last few weeks have already indicated that Selena Gomez’s Top 10 run will end soon. This 20th week in the Top 10 could be her last with this particular song.

Normally I’m writing at this point a lot about the new entries. This week this part of the review will be slightly shorter which is easily explained. There are only two new entries and all of these new entries are by the same artist. I can’t remember when I had the last time such a low number of new entries. German singer Madeline Juno is placing two more promotional songs on my chart. The highest new entry is “If this was a move” (#53) and the second highest is “Always this way” (#56). I really like her album although only her debut single “Error” reached Top 10 back in 2013. Among all the charted songs from her “If this is a movie” has the largest potential to bring Madeline Juno the 2nd Top 10 hit. Generally this week has been a slow week. The greatest gainer of the week “Give me the knife” (#62) by Billie only climbed up 10 spots.
