Week 217 – April 25th, 2015Last week has been a week without a comment and there had only been handful movers so that the first seven spots had been non-movers. This week is different. After three weeks at the top Kate Voegele’s “Carousel” (#2) had been dethroned. For the first time in her career German Leslie Clio reached #1 with one of her songs. “My heart ain’t that broken” (#1) is a perfect gem, but for some reasons overseen in Germany (although charted low), Austria and Switzerland. “My heart ain’t that broken” could be the first song in 2015 which could stay more than three weeks at the top. The last spot at the podium goes to New Motion. Their 80’s inspired song “Anyway” (#3) is holding against Kate Voegele and Leslie Clio without a chance to go back to #1. Tori Kelly is doing another step up the chart with “Nobody love” (#4). Once more producer Max Martin showed what he is able to do. The Top 5 is closed with former #1 “Crossroads” (#5) by Satin Circus.
Chic feat. Nile Rodgers debuted in the Top 10 in the same week when my new #1 “My heart ain’t that broken” debuted. “I’ll be there” (#6) failed to have the same impact and is staying for another week at #6. Right behind Chic the highest new entry can be found. Surprise, surprise it’s the 2nd single of Leslie Clio’s 2nd album “Eureka”. While she failed to have major impact on my chart with her first album all of her singles from her sophomore 2nd album debuted right in the Top 10. There’ve not been many artists who had two Top 10 debuts in such a short time. “Be with you” (#7) is another cool song by Leslie Clio. Maybe not as catchy as “My heart ain’t that broken”, but “Be with you” is also an extremely good song which should reach my Top 5 very soon. “Style” (#8) by Taylor Swift and “Hold me” (#9) by Anouk & Douwe Bob hold their spot in their 2nd week in the Top 10. And then there is young Belgian singer Laura Tesoro. With her 2nd single “Funky love” (#10) she scored her first Top 10 hit.
Outside the Top 10 there is the usual scramble for a spot in the Top 10. In the top position for such a spot is last week’s top debut “Oublie-moi” (#12) by Cœur de Pirate. Béatrice Martin has been a regular since her debut solo album – “Printemps” is since years my wake up song. Her 2nd album had been little effect on my chart although scoring a Top 10 hit with “Blonde”, but neither her cover album nor her album soundtrack album for the video game “Child light” produced a chart entry. “Oublie-moi” is the first single of her yet untitled upcoming new album, but this song is way better than most of her songs from her 2nd album and it should be Top 5 at least in the future.
The 2nd best new entry is by my favourite artist Anouk. “She is beautiful” (#32) is the first of two debuts by her this week. The other one is “Cold blackhearted golddiggers” (#84). For me “She is beautiful” a typical song by Anouk and as she had several #1’s in the past this one would fit well in a line with “I won’t play that game” or “Little did I know” or all her other chart toppers. “She is beautiful” is starting with darker lyrics which is predestined for a top spot. In a few weeks “She is beautiful” should be within the Top 10 and then Anouk could score her 9th #1.
Then there are two more debuts within the Top 50. The first one is the debut single by Finnish singer Katéa. “That ain’t love” (#47) has a retro style and fits well with the actual Top 10 hits “Nobody love” by Tori Kelly and the catchy “Funky love” by Laura Tesoro. “That ain’t love” grow with every listen, so that this song could debut way higher that expected. If this song can continue strong a spot in the Top 20 and more could be in reach. The other not yet mentioned Top 50 debut is by Marla Blumenblatt. Some of you maybe remember her from the Top 10 hit “Cornetto” two years ago. Marla Blumenblatt is also an artist who is doing music in the style of the 50’s and 60’s. Beside “Cornetto” and a 2nd single from her debut album there had been no more material which I charted. Some weeks ago she released her new EP “Sag einfach ja” (“Say just yes”) and “Großstadtcowboys” (“Big city cowboys” #48) is the first single out of this EP. On this song she featured German rapper Eko Fresh which brings him his first chart appearance. The greatest gainer of the week is “Sparks” (#59) by Hilary Duff.
Other debuts are “Alive tonight” (#61) by Grace Potter, “Jolene” (#86) by Rooftop Renegades, “New York raining” (#90) by Charles Hamilton feat. Rita Ora, “It’s not my fault” (#96) by Anthony Lewis feat. T.I. and “Breakout” (#99) by Sophie J.TW | LW | WI | Peak | Title | Artist | Album | | | 1 | 2 | 5 | 1 (1) | My heart ain't that broken | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 2 | 1 | 8 | 1 (3) | Carousel | Kate Voegele | The Wild Card EP | | (|) | 3 | 3 | 10 | 1 (1) | Anyway | New Motion | Anyway EP | | (|) | 4 | 5 | 10 | 4 | Nobody love | Tori Kelly | TBA | | (|) | 5 | 4 | 14 | 1 (2) | Crossroads | Satin Circus | | | (|) | 6 | 6 | 5 | 6 | I'll be there | Chic feat. How come New Motion are above Satin Circus?? That's a head scratcher, but well... it's fine I guess lol
If I want to vent about Matt Cardle, who better than you? In retrospect, I think Porcelain was such a regular album. I barely listen to it, and besides a few songs, I largely skip the rest. Which is frustrating. Anyway, he said his next album will be very dark, so of course I am looking forward to that!
It's a bit weird seeing you chart songs like Kelsea Ballerini's, I don't know, I usually think of your chart and think 'european'. And argh! How come you have a perfect song in your chart, but it's basically rotting at 95??? Please, fix this issue. He deserves going top 5 at the very least! <3

How come New Motion are above Satin Circus?? That's a head scratcher, but well... it's fine I guess lol Yeah an interesting fact. Both songs are quite cool and should do well for some more weeks in the Top 10. That's right. We are the two on this board who charted nearly every song of his first two albums. Every album by him had produced several top hits for me. Sure "Porcelain" is a little bit weaker, but it is growing more and more. Two more songs by him are on my waiting list for next week's debuts. Maybe you should give it another listen. I hope that his new album is as good as his previous ones. And darker lyrics and sound are a good news. This should lift him to the next level. <3 Sure there are a lot of acts from Europe on my chart, but the most acts are from the US or Canada (but there are only a handful canadian songs on the actual chart). Kelsea Ballerini's song is different to the other songs I'm charting, but I always like country songs. And it all started with LeAnn Rimes and her "Sittin' on top of the world" album which I listened in a continuous loop when I was younger. Maybe you remember the canadian act Autumn Hill? Their country song "Can't keep waiting" went all the way to #1. "Crash and burn" is a good song, but at the moment I don't feel very connected to it. Unfortunately I don't see a long run for this song on my chart.

Week 218 – May 2nd, 2015German Leslie Clio is holding the top spot with “My heart ain’t that broken” (#1) for a 2nd week. Her 2nd song in this countdown is climbing up three spots. “Be with you” (#4) debuted last week and nearly made into my Top 3. Leslie Clio also has the chance to replace herself at the top. Until now only Anouk and Adele replaced themselves at the top. Adele did it back in 2011 when “Set fire to the rain” replaced year-end #1 “Turning tables” at the top. Anouk did it twice. The first time back in 2011 when she first replaced “What have you done” with “Save me” and a week later she replaced “Save me” with “Ms. Crazy”. And then she did it in 2014 when “I won’t play that game (live)” replaced “You & I”. Leslie Clio’s #1 hit “My heart ain’t that broken” is followed by Kate Voegele’s “Carousel” (#2) which is still fighting to get back to #1. The podium is completed by New Motion. Their 1st hit “Anyway” (#3) is holding #3 for a 4th consecutive week.
Former #1 “Crossroads” (#5) by Finnish band Satin Circus stays for a 2nd week at the bottom of the Top 5, but is holding “I’ll be there” (#6) by Chic feat. Nile Rodgers away from the Top 5. Surprisingly dropping down is Tori Kelly. After reaching #4 last week “Nobody love” (#7) dropped three spots. Another love song is following Tori Kelly’s smash hit. It’s “Funky love” (#8) by Laura Tesoro. US indie rock band Cold War Kids score their first Top 10 hit with “All this could be yours” (#9). “All this could be yours” is different to the other songs in the top 10 and could reach a spot near the Top 5 at least. The Top 10 is closed by Taylor Swift’s “Style” (#10).
This week three songs climbed up 13 spots and they are tying for the greatest gainer of the week. The highest of these songs is by Finnish singer Katéa. Her retro style song “This ain’t love” (#34) is doing well and is getting better with every listen. Last week I mentioned that this song fits well with Tori Kelly’s and Laura Tesoro’s song and I think that it possible that this song will also end in my Top 10. “This ain’t love” is followed by the 2nd 13 spot climber. “Großstadtcowboys” (#35) by Austrian Marla Blumenblatt and German rapper Eko Fresh brings in another retro style in a different kind of way Katéa does. This week “Großstadtcowboys” is best ranked Austrian song. The third song which climbed 13 spots is “New York raining” (#77) by Charles Hamilton feat. Rita Ora.
Only one song debuted this week within the Top 50. It is “Mirror man” (#46) by Ella Henderson. “Mirror man” is her third charting song following “Ghost” and “Yours”. Both songs failed to reach Top 15. “Ghost” peaked at #17 and was closest. “Mirror man” is more in the direction of “Ghost” and I saw her performance in “Schlag den Raab” so it could do well, but at the moment I don’t think that “Mirror man” is her 1st Top 10 hit. The 2nd best new entry is by Norwegian act Madcon. For their recent hit “Don’t worry” (#57) the teamed up with American singer Ray Dalton. They got a respectable start and should reach the Top 50 by next week.
Other new entries are “Come to me” (#58) by Lily & Madeleine, “Mouth to mouth” (#59) and “Your kind of love” (#60) by Matt Cardle, “Wünsch dir was” (“Wish you something”, #89) by Genetikk, “Angels” (#90) by Vicetone feat. Kat Nestel and “Where I belong” (#99) by HomeTown.TW | LW | WI | Peak | Title | Artist | Album | | | 1 | 1 | 6 | 1 (2) | My heart ain't that broken | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 2 | 2 | 9 | 1 (3) | Carousel | Kate Voegele | The Wild Card EP | | (|) | 3 | 3 | 11 | 1 (1) | Anyway | New Motion | Anyway EP | | (|) | 4 | 7 | 2 | 4 | Be with you | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 5 | 5 | 15 | 1 (2) | Crossroads | Satin Circus | | | (|) | 6 | 6 | 6 | 6 | I'll be there | Chic feat. Mimi Webb - Erase you (#1 for two weeks)

Week 219 – May 9th, 2015One of the biggest earthquakes churned my chart. 20 new entries mark a new record which I never thought would happen. Although there are so many new songs on this week’s countdown not even a half dozen made into the Top 50. German Leslie Clio survived the chaos without trouble. “My heart ain’t that broken” (#1) is still shining bright from the top while “Be with you” (#3) climbed up one spot and reached the podium. Caught between Leslie Clio is Kate Voegele. Her super catchy “Caroussel” (#2) is holding the runners-up position for a third week in a row. Dropping out of the Top 3 are British band New Motion. “Anyway” (#4) dropped one, but this song is still charming. And finally Chic feat. Nile Rodgers entered the Top 5 with “I’ll be there” (#5).
“I’ll be there” replaced former #1 “Crossroads” (#6). While the Eurovision Song Contest is coming up Satin Circus had to watch this show at home, because the Finnish voters voted against them. Directly behind Satin Circus the highest new entry can be found. Once more this song is from Germany. And no it’s not Leslie Clio. A third new entry within seven weeks would have been too much and there is no 3rd single out at the moment. Speaking about the Eurovision Song Contest and Germany is always ending with the two German winners. Nicole’s “Ein bisschen Frieden” (“A little peace”) is unforgotten and a German evergreen. The other winner was Lena. Beside her big Eurovision hit “Satellite” I’ve not been a big fan of her music although she had several Top 10 hits in Germany. Her recent single “Traffic lights” (#7) from her upcoming album “Crystal sky” is lifting her to another level for me. This song has everything to become a big hit outside of Germany, but unfortunately songs from Germany acts aren’t quite popular in Europe.
Lena isn’t the only new artist in my Top 10. Let’s focus on this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Satin Circus failed to qualify while Estonian singers Stig Rästa and Elina Born are representing their country with “Goodbye to yesterday” (#10). In its 9th week this song did the last step to enter my Top 10 and this song could climb up in the next weeks too. Elina Born’s part “Why didn’t you wake me up?” is sticking in my head and why not bring them a possible Top 5 spot in the contest? I keep my fingers crossed that they do well in Vienna. Between Lena and Elina Born feat. Stig Rästa there are “Funky love” (#8) by Laura Tesoro and “All this could be yours” (#9) by Cold War Kids.
The 2nd best new entry is by Austria's biggest star at the moment. Christina Stürmer returns with her Best-of-album “Gestern. Heute. – Best of”. The first single out of this album is “Was wirklich bleibt” (#27, “What really remains”). This song is not really comparable with her #1 single “Millionen Lichter” (“Million lights”). It is more in the direction of her softer hit songs. “Was wirklich bleibt” started good and should reach the Top 20, but at the moment I’m not sure if there is a chance for topping the chart, because I think that the two Leslie Clio songs are too strong. But what interests me my talk today in a few weeks? The greatest gainer of the week is “If a go” (#43) by Ella Eyre.
British singer Rae Morris has released several singles since her debut in 2012. Only one has reached the UK Top 100 so far and no single by her reached my chart until this week. “Love again” (#38) is the song she is debuting with. Although released in January as a regular single it took a while I noticed this fact. Also debuting in the Top 50 are Juli and Madonna. Juli’s last album flopped for me as I pointed out last year while their first single “Insel” topped my chart. Now the released their 2nd single from this album and against my last year’s prediction I really like their new one. “Wasserfall” (#49, “Waterfall”) by Juli started a little bit better than Madonna’s recent single “Ghost town” (#50) which is for me her best single in a while. Other debuts are too many to count this week so you better look over my chart. Mimi Webb - Erase you (#1 for two weeks)

Week 221 – May 23rd, 2015The Eurovision Song Contest last night ended with the favourite win by Måns Zelmerlöw. I don’t prefer his song as last year’s winning song “Rise like a phoenix” by Austrian new star Conchita Wurst. But as every year there are some songs I will debut after the ESC. Which ones I will debut you will find out next week. So let’s go back to my chart. There is nothing new at the top. German Leslie Clio’s “My heart ain’t that broken” (#1) is topping the chart while “Be with you” (#2) is in the runner’s up position for a 2nd week. “My heart ain’t that broken” is now a 5th week at the top which raise the record in 2015 and there are only a few songs which did better since re-charting. Also holding her spot is Lena. The first single out of her forthcoming new album “Traffic lights” (#3) is often compared to Ellie Goulding. And for sure if Ellie Goulding would’ve released that song it would be a big hit, but so it only will be a hit in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “Carousel” (#4) by Kate Voegele is also holding the spot. New at #5 is “Goodbye to yesterday” (#5) by Elina Born feat. Stig Rästa. Their show in the semi-finale to the ESC was very good in my opinion and therefore “Goodbye to yesterday” profited with a four spot climb.
Also doing well is Canadian Cœur de Pirate. “Oublie-moi” (#6) climbed up four spots and is now in the leading position for reaching a Top 5 spot. If so she maybe replaces Kate Voegele’s “Carousel”. Directly behind “Oublie-moi” is “I’ll be there” (#7). The disco number by Chic feat. Nile Rodgers is now on its way out of the Top 10. This also can be written about the debut single “Anyway” (#8) by New Motion who lost their focus and dropped two spots. Former #1 “Crossroads” (#11) by Satin Circus had to leave the Top 10 after an amazing 17 week run. “Funky love” (#12) by Laura Tesoro was also replaced. New in the Top 10 are two well-known artists. Let’s start with Taylor Swift. Finally “Wonderland” (#9) reached the Top 10 and her new single “Bad blood” is the mix for a debut in the near future. Then there is Anouk. “She is beautiful” (#10) climbed up five spots and brings Anouk up to 13 Top 10 hits which is nearly 50 % of her charting material.
Last week I wrote that this week the new single by Satin Circus will debut. Most of their singles debuted within the Top 10. As you read my review above you will’ve noticed that there is no new single by Satin Circus in the Top 10. Their new single “Come back” (#44) is in the same direction they started with “Crossroads”, but I think that “Come back” isn’t as catchy as “Crossroads”. This is the reason why “Come back” had a good, but not a perfect start. This low start raises a few questions, but since my predictions usually not occur I will not seek the crystal ball this time. Satin Circus debuted behind Maître Gims who is this week’s greatest gainer with “Est-ce que tu m'aimes?” (#43).
The 2nd best debut is by Leona Lewis. Who doesn’t know her biggest hit “Bleeding love”? I’m sure everyone has this song in his mind when reading about Leona Lewis. After that smash hit she released several hit songs, but over the last years it had been rather quiet about her. Now she released her new single “Fire under my feet” (#59) which is a good song, but no “Bleeding love”. I hope that “Fire under my feet” will do well on my chart. Other debuts are “Our own house” (#85) and “Not your way” (#86) by MisterWives, “Can’t deny my love” (#87) by Brandon Flowers and “Power” (#96) by Sophie and The Bom Boms.TW | LW | WI | Peak | Title | Artist | Album | | | 1 | 1 | 9 | 1 (5) | My heart ain't that broken | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 2 | 2 | 5 | 2 | Be with you | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 3 | 3 | 3 | 3 | Traffic lights | Lena | Crystal sky | | (|) | 4 | 4 | 12 | 1 (3) | Carousel | Kate Voegele | The Wild Card EP | | (|) | 5 | 9 | 11 | 5 | Goodbye to yesterday | Elina Born & Stig Rästa | Elina Born | | (|) | 6 | 10 | 6 | 6 | Oublie-moi | Cœur de Pirate | TBA | | (|) | 7 | 5 | 9 | 5 | I'll be there | Chic feat. Week 222 – May 30th, 2015The German triad at the top of the chart continued for a third week in a row. Leslie Clio’s “My heart ain’t that broken” (#1) is now topping the chart for a 6th consecutive week while “Be with you” (#2) is for a third time in the runner’s-up position. The trio completing is Lena with “Traffic light” (#3). After last week’s Eurovision Song Contest Estonian duo Elina Born and Stig Rästa are moving up one spot with their incredible “Goodbye to yesterday” (#4). The Top 5 is closed with former #1 “Carousel” (#5) by Kate Voegele.
My favourite French song at the moment is “Oublie-moi” (#6) by Cœur de Pirate. It’s only a matter of time when “Oublie-moi” is entering the Top 5 and when Cœur de Pirate is scoring her next big hit. While “Bad blood” in a version with Kendrick Lamar is rocking the charts is it on my chart “Wonderland” (#7) which is actual the best performing song by Taylor Swift. I’m sure that “Bad blood” is debuting very soon on my chart too. “Wonderland” is followed by another climber within the Top 10. It’s “She is beautiful” (#8) by Anouk. Unfortunately “Cold blackhearted golddiggers” (#63) by her still hasn’t reached the Top 50. So there is a big gap between these songs. At the bottom of the Top 10 there are two new songs which replaced “Anyway” (#13) by New Motion and “I’ll be there” (#16) by Chic feat. Nile Rodgers. For Katéa “This ain’t love” (#9) is her first Top 10 hit and Madeline Juno is celebrating a comeback in the Top 10. “If this was a movie” (#10) is her 2nd Top 10 hit after “Error” reached this part of the chart back in 2013.
The highest debut is by a band I thought that they won’t have a chart hit for a long time, because most of their singles I don’t like. Back in 2014 Broods topped the chart with “Everytime” and the sings showed “One-Hit-Wonder”. This week they proved me wrong. Their latest single “Four walls” (#15) debuted directly in the Top 20 with a bright future outlook. “Four walls” is very different to “Everytime”. It’s a way more “softer” and brilliant with its down-tempo soundscape. I absolutely like this melancholy song and the heartfelt lyrics. If there is a song out there that could break the German domination on my chart than it is “Four walls”.
Three more songs reached a Top 50 debut this week while the greatest gainer of the week only climbed up seven spots this week and landed outside the Top 70. The greatest gainer of the week is US-band MisterWives. Both songs which debuted last week climbed up seven spots so that “Our own house” (#78) and “Not your way” (#79) are tying for the greatest gainer of the week. Among the three more new songs in the Top 50 are two songs by Madi Diaz. The album cut “Dancing in the dark” (#34) is her highest debut while her latest single “Mess” (#38) debuted four spots behind. The last debut in this section is by US newcomer Matt McAndrew. He participated in the US-version of “The Voice”. His 2nd overall single “Counting on love” (#41) got him a solid debut.
Other debuts are “We don’t make the wind blow” (#58) by The Common Linnets, “Here for you” (#59) by Maraaya, “Everytime” (#89) by The Kolors, “Should’ve been us” (#90) by Tori Kelly, “A million voices (#93) by Polina Gagarina, “Tonight again” (#93) by Guy Sebastian and “Crave” (#98) by Parachute.TW | LW | WI | Peak | Title | Artist | Album | | | 1 | 1 | 10 | 1 (6) | My heart ain't that broken | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 2 | 2 | 6 | 2 | Be with you | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 3 | 3 | 4 | 3 | Traffic lights | Lena | Crystal sky | | (|) | 4 | 5 | 12 | 4 | Goodbye to yesterday | Elina Born & Stig Rästa | Elina Born | | (|) | 5 | 4 | 13 | 1 (3) | Carousel | Kate Voegele | The Wild Card EP | | (|) | 6 | 6 | 7 | 6 | Oublie-moi | Cœur de Pirate | TBA | | (|) | 7 | 9 | 10 | 7 | Wonderland | Taylor Swift | 1989 | | (|) | 8 | 10 | 6 | 8 | She is beautiful | Anouk | Paradise and back again | | (|) | 9 | 13 | 6 | 9 | This ain't love | Katéa | TBA | | (|) | 10 | 15 | 8 | 10 | If this was a movie | Madeline Juno | The Unknown | | (|) | | | | | | | | | | 11 | 16 | 4 | 11 | Was wirklich bleibt | Christina Stürmer | Gestern. Great Eurovision debuts I knew that you would like these debuts. Specially Guy Sebastian's debut. Unfortunately most of them debuted very low. They only song which maybe has a longer run on my chart is "Here for you" by Maraaya which is the 2nd song by them I'm charting now.

After debuting at 14, I thought Coeur De Pirate would be at #1 in a couple of weeks. Doesn't look like that is going to happen.......... You're right that the chance to enter #1 was very good for Cœur de Pirate. I've looked over my history book and found out that since 2011 six songs debuted at #14. Two songs went to #1 including "L'amore non mi basta" by Emma. Walk The Moon's "Shut up and dance" (peak at #4) missed the Top 3 and two more songs "The shield and the sword" by Clare Maguire and "Biblical" by Biffy Clyro only peaked at #9. So far "Oublie-moi" is the 2nd best song with a debut at #14 without reaching #1. In general there is no guarantee on my chart to reach #1 with such a high debut. Good examples are "Shelter" (debut #6, peak #4) by Dash Berlin feat. Roxanne Emery, "Killer bee" (debut #7, peak #5) by Anouk or "I'll be there" (debut #9, peak #5) by Chic feat. Nile Rodgers. At the very first moment I thought the same that "Oublie-moi" should reach fast my #1, but in the following weeks Lena and Leslie Clio debuted in the Top 10 and made it very hard for Cœur de Pirate to reach the leading position. Sure Broods are in a very good position to break the German domination, but maybe there is a chance for Cœur de Pirate. "Oublie-moi" is in its 7th week and there have been songs which had longer runs to #1. Perhaps you remember "It's only love" by Matt Cardle which reached #1 in its 14th week back in 2013.

Week 223 – June 6th, 2015And they did it again. For a fourth week in a row the Top 3 remained the same. Leslie Clio is topping the chart with “My heart ain’t that broken” (#1) for a 7th week in a row. Only two songs since 2011 did better. “Receive” by Alanis Morissette topped the chart for ten weeks in two runs back in 2012/13. Then there is “L’amore non mi basta” by Emma which topped the chart for nine weeks in a row back in 2013/14. Although Leslie Clio’s “My heart ain’t that broken” is climbing into new spheres it has been a though decision. Her follow-up “Be with you” (#2) had been my choice for #1 nearly the whole week, but in the end this song ended once more at #2. The German trio is completed by Lena with “Traffic lights” (#3). Finally in the Top 5 is Cœur de Pirate with “Oublie-moi” (#4) which recommitted “Goodbye to yesterday” (#5) by Elina Born feat. Stig Rästa down one spot.
Everybody is speaking about the new Taylor Swift song “Bad blood” at the moment, but on my chart “Wonderland” (#6) is still climbing up in its 11th week. This week she climbed up one spot with this song. Former #1 “Carousel” (#7) by Kate Voegele is right behind Taylor Swift’s song. Superstar Anouk was holding the spot with “She is beautiful” (#8) this week, but there is a new non-album single out there which will debut soon. The only new song in this week’s Top 10 can be found at #9. It’s “Four walls” by Broods. I absolutely love this song and as I wrote last week there is a good chance for Broods to break the German domination. Rounding out the Top 10 is “This ain’t love” (#10) by Katéa. “This ain’t love” lost one spot, but I think that this song could stay in the Top 10 for some more weeks.
The highest new entry is by Taylor Swift. “Bad blood” is her third chart topper in the US from “1989”. The single version is featuring Kendrick Lamar who hasn’t been found on my chart. And this fact doesn’t change, because I’m charting the album version where he isn’t featured. “Bad blood” (#24) is in my opinion one of the best songs on this album so that this song should reach the Top 10 very soon. Sure there is the chart topping question since her album “Red” produced two #1’s and “1989” produced 1 #1 on my chart, but right now I can’t give a prediction. The German songs are so strong and then there is “Four walls”. It will be hard for “Bad blood” to reach #1, but not impossible.
Going down the chart you find out that there are four more songs which give their debut in the Top 50 this week. Let’s start with highest of these four debuts. It is by Kate Voegele. “When I’m gone” (#44) is a beautiful cover of Anna Kendrick’s song which I’ve not charted. Originally I wrote that this is my favourite song on her EP, but since charting “Carousel” I’m not sure if this song is doing as good as “Carousel”, but I shouldn’t count it out. One spot below “When I’m gone” is the new single “Some kind of heaven” (#45) by Hurts. So far Hurts had minor success on my chart, but with this new single they have the chance to get a ticket for a spot in the Top 20. The next one is Rob Thomas leading singer of Matchbox Twenty. With his first solo single in five years Rob Thomas got his first solo chart appearance. “Trust you” (#49) got a solid debut, but as always it is hard to predict where the journey will end. The last debut in the Top 50 is by Jesse McCartney. I’ve listened to “Young love” a long time ago and I new that I like it, but it hasn’t been a regular single so I waited to chart. At the moment it seems that “Young love” is his new regular single, so that I decided to chart it now.
Other debuts are “Firefly” (#62, a regular single back in 2013) by Rebecca Raabis, “Beautiful to me” (#86) by Olly Murs, “Ooh la la” (#91) by Kate Voegele, “Come back to me” (#92) by Urban Cone feat. Tove Lo and “Impossible” (#99) by Building 429. Mimi Webb - Erase you (#1 for two weeks)

Week 224 – June 13th, 2015After an amazing seven week run at the top Leslie Clio is dethroned. “My heart ain’t that broken” (#2) dropped one spot and is now at the runners-up position. Dethroning is maybe a hard word, because Leslie Clio is still topping my chart. Her 2nd single from “Eureka” climbed up one spot so that “Be with you” (#1) changed the spot with “My heart ain’t that broken”. Leslie Clio is the first artist since Anouk back in 2014 who replaced herself at the top. Still completing the German trio is Lena. “Traffic lights” (#3) is holding the spot at the podium and therefore “Oublie-moi” (#4) by Cœur de Pirate failed for a 2nd time to reach the Top 3. New in the Top 5 is Broods with “Four walls”. Their melancholic song is up on its way to relieve Leslie Clio’s happy songs.
Looking over the Top 10 you find out that there’ve been only position changes this week. No new song made it into this part of the chart. Beside the position changes there are only handful songs which hold their spot. One is “Wonderland” (#6) by Taylor Swift. Anouk with “She is beautiful” (#7) climbed up one spot and Katéa climbed up two spots with the retro song “That ain’t love” (#8). At the bottom of the Top 10 are “Goodbye to yesterday” (#9) by Elina Born feat. Stig Rästa which lost the Eurovision spirit and “Carousel” (#10) by Kate Voegele.
Last week I forgot to mention the greatest gainer of the week. So let’s start with this the next part of the review. For a third week in a row MisterWives did best by climbing up the chart. The last two weeks both of their songs climbed the same amount of spots. This week “Not our way” (#42) outperformed a little bit “Our own house” (#46) which only climbed up 14 spots while “Not our way” climbed up 16 spots.
The highest new entry is by my favourite artist Anouk. In the past year she had several song which debuted within Top 10 including the later #1 hit “You & I”. This week she debuted with another non album single. “New day” (#49) is a good song, but it failed to do as good as the mentioned song in its first week. Although debuting very low for the standards Anouk set on my chart a Top 20 spot at least is absolutely in reach. “New day” is the only song which debuted in the Top 50 this week. The next best new song is “First” (#58) by Cold War Kids. “First” is the follow-up single to the Top 10 single “All this could be yours” (#32), but “First” isn’t the bands only debut this week. They are placing “Hot coals” (#59) directly behind “First”.
Other debuts are “Brücken zum Mond” (#80, “Bridges to the moon”) by Tagtraeumer, “Beautiful (it hurts)” (#96) by Project 46 and “Unknown” (#99) by Lylit.TW | LW | WI | Peak | Title | Artist | Album | | | 1 | 2 | 8 | 1 (1) | Be with you | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 2 | 1 | 12 | 1 (7) | My heart ain't that broken | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 3 | 3 | 6 | 3 | Traffic lights | Lena | Crystal sky | | (|) | 4 | 4 | 9 | 4 | Oublie-moi | Cœur de Pirate | TBA | | (|) | 5 | 9 | 3 | 5 | Four walls | Broods | Evergreen | | (|) | 6 | 6 | 12 | 6 | Wonderland | Taylor Swift | 1989 | | (|) | 7 | 8 | 8 | 7 | She is beautiful | Anouk | Paradise and back again | | (|) | 8 | 10 | 8 | 8 | This ain't love | Katéa | TBA | | (|) | 9 | 5 | 14 | 4 | Goodbye to yesterday | Elina Born & Stig Rästa | Elina Born | | (|) | 10 | 7 | 15 | 1 (3) | Carousel | Kate Voegele | The Wild Card EP | | (|) | | | | | | | | | | 11 | 11 | 6 | 11 | Was wirklich bleibt | Christina Stürmer | Gestern. Week 225 – June 20th, 2015She did it again. For a ninth consecutive week Leslie Clio is topping my chart. While “My heart ain’t that broken” (#3) dropped one spot “Be with you” (#1) is holding the top spot for a 2nd week. Caught in the middle is Lena Meyer-Landrut. Her latest smash “Traffic lights” (#2) climbed up one spot and is now in the runner’s up position. “Traffic lights” is the song that could end the Leslio Clio run a the top. On the other hand “Traffic lights” could be the 4th German #1 song this year. That’s absolutely fantastic, but I wish these songs were from my home country. The best of the rest is lead by New Zealand act Broods. Their new single “Four walls” (#4) climbed up one spot and is attacking the German trio. Unfortunately Cœur de Pirate dropped one spot so “Oublie-moi” (#5) is rounding out the Top 5.
The 2nd part of the Top 10 is opened by Anouk. Last week she debuted with “New day” (more about this one later). This week she had been a little bit under pressure, but “She is beautiful” (#6) climbed up one spot. Anouk is followed by the first of two new acts in this part of the chart. It is “Was wirklich bleibt” (#7, “What really remains”) by Christina Stürmer. For Christina Stürmer “Was wirklich bleibt” is her first Top 10 hit since her #1 hit “Millionen Lichter” (“Million lights”) back in May 2013. For the 2nd time this year Tove Lo entered the Top 10. This time it is “Talking body” (#8) which reached this part of the chart. It’s only a matter of time when she is outperforming “Habits (stay high)” which also peaked at #8. The Top 10 is closed by two droppers. These songs are “That ain’t love” (#9) by Katéa and “Wonderland” (#10) by Taylor Swift.
Last week I had been a little bit pessimistic about the new song by Anouk. This week I wrote the speech for the school leaving examination for the class of 2015 that I was allowed to accompany over the last two years as “Klassenvorstand” (could be compared with a form teacher). While I was writing this speech I listed several times to this song and I think it was the perfect match. Therefore “New day” (#14) climbed up 35 spots and landed earlier in the Top 20 then I thought. Because of this amount of climbing up the chart “New day” is the greatest gainer of the week.
The highest new entry can be found two spots behind. It is by a Swedish singer who had several hits on my chart before. Her biggest had been “Uncover” which is she has released in the US this year too. This week Zara Larsson debuted with a song which can’t be found on her first full length album. “Lush life” (#16) is a very good song in her typical style. It will be interesting to see how far “Lush life” will go in the next weeks. The 2nd best new entry is also by an artist who is known very well on my chart. Over the last years I charted two of his albums. This time Ben Montague is celebrating his comeback with “Back into paradise” (#28). First I thought that this new single isn’t very good, but after I gave it a chance and several listens later the title track to his new album “Back into paradise” debuted in the Top 30 which is not bad. All the other new songs on my chart debuted outside the Top 50.
These other new songs are “Cadillac” (#51) by Mario Jefferson, “Jenny” (#88) by Hermitage Green, “You and I (forever)” (#89) by Jessie Ware, “Still want you” (#90) by Brandon Flowers, “Cedarwood road” (#97) and “Raised by wolves” (#98) by U2 and “I do” (#99) by Only The Young.TW | LW | WI | Peak | Title | Artist | Album | | | 1 | 1 | 9 | 1 (2) | Be with you | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 2 | 3 | 7 | 2 | Traffic lights | Lena | Crystal sky | | (|) | 3 | 2 | 13 | 1 (7) | My heart ain't that broken | Leslie Clio | Eureka | | (|) | 4 | 5 | 4 | 4 | Four walls | Broods | Evergreen | | (|) | 5 | 4 | 10 | 4 | Oublie-moi | Cœur de Pirate | TBA | | (|) | 6 | 7 | 9 | 6 | She is beautiful | Anouk | Paradise and back again | | (|) | 7 | 11 | 7 | 7 | Was wirklich bleibt | Christina Stürmer | Gestern.
