A single that performed extremely poorly in comparison to their previous #1 single. How many have you had on your chart?
Ashanti "Rock Wit U" - #1 (2 weeks) "Rain On Me" - Did not Chart
"Happy" - #1 (2 weeks) "Baby" - Did not Chart
Ashanti is the most notorious for not providing a strong follow-up single to her biggest hit.

Actually, I don't think examples like those would even count - you say a single that performed extremely poorly in comparison to the previous single. But in your two cases the follow-up did not even perform at all! Plus, what happens when you don't even hear the follow-up (or the #1 in question is either a soundtrack single or an album's last single)?
Here are mine:
Santana "The Game of Love" - 2 weeks at #1 "Why Don't You & I" - A single week on the chart at #20
Frankie J "Don't Wanna Try" - 8 weeks at #1 "We Still" - #16
Evanescence "Bring Me to Life" - 4 weeks at #1 "Going Under" - #15 --Footnote: "Going Under" and "We Still" peaked the very same week, 10/4/03.
B2K "Uh Huh" - 1 week at #1 "Gots Ta Be" - #13
Kelly Rowland "Stole" - 2 weeks at #1 "Can't Nobody" - #12

The one off the top of my head is Britney Spears:
Toxic: #1 Everytime: #1 Outrageous: #27 [due to it being pulled as a single post-impact]
and Evanescence:
Bring Me To Life: #1 Going Under: #26

But in your two cases the follow-up did not even perform at all! Both of those singles made the BuBBlin' Under on my chart (Baby and Rain On Me). They are considered 'flops' because after a huge #1 single, they failed to make any impact whatsoever on the chart.

Kylie Minogue:
Slow: #6 Red Blooded Woman: #5 Chocolate: #24 [current pos, probably peak]
Although 'Chocolate' was never released in the US, I decided to chart it as in 'import single'.

Ashanti had two top ten hits on my chart ("Rock Wit U", #2; "Rain on Me", #3), then flopped with her next two chart hits ("Time of Year" from her Christmas album, #24; the remix of "Breakup 2 Makeup", #25). Ashanti is recovering from her recent flops as "Southside", her collaboration with Lloyd, is up 17-16.

My biggest flop after a #1 hit is Kylie Minogue - "Red Blooded Woman" hit #1 for two weeks (and is the only song from Kylie's new album I like, so none of the other songs from the album will chart or make my bubbling under).

Alicia KeysYou Don't Know My Name - #1 If I Ain't Got You - #17 PinkJust Like A Pill - #1 Family Portrait - #18 Alicia Keys and Pink did not reach #1 on my chart, but had a strong top 10 hit and a weak follow-up: Keys: "If I Ain't Got You" went straight up and peaked at #3; "Diary" spent a week at #25 and I doubt it will return Pink: "Feel Good Time" climbed to #6 in July 2003; "Trouble" didn't chart and "God is a DJ" only reached #16.

Dixie Chicks "Travelin' Soldier" #1 for 8 weeks "Top Of the World" did not chart*
it gets a * because my chart was erratic at that period of time, but it still might not have charted

My biggest flop after a #1 hit is Kylie Minogue - "Red Blooded Woman" hit #1 for two weeks (and is the only song from Kylie's new album I like, so none of the other songs from the album will chart or make my bubbling under). Have you checked out the "exclusive" track available on the Australian version of "Body Language"? Ironically enough (given your letter in ChartBeat this week), the bonus track is called "Slo Motion," (Yes, the "w" is missing from the word "Slow" for Kylie's track!) and it's in my top ten this week. The track sounds nothing like any of the other tracks on "Body Language," so maybe it was a leftover from an earlier album.
