Let the rain fall down And wake my dreams Let it wash away My sanity#15. Hillary Duff "Come Clean"My personal pick for the best pop song of 2004, I originally didn't like this song. After hearing on MTV Hits a few times, I decided to chart it. "Come Clean" debuted at #25 on January 4th, and rose up to spend 2 weeks at #3 in mid-February. "Come Clean" should've done better on the Top 40, but its still #15 for the year.

Don't think that your charm and the fact that your arm is now around my neck Will get you in my pants I'll have to kick your ass and make you never forget #14. Avril Lavigne "Don't Tell Me"I was so excited when I first heard this song because I'm a big fan of Avril's work. Debuting at #15 on March 7th, "Don't Tell Me" rose to #1 in just 6 weeks. Spending 9 weeks in the Top 10, Avril comes in at #14 on the Top 40 of 2004 countdown.

They say, that I must learn to kill before I can feel safe But I, I'd rather kill myself than turn into their save Sometimes, I feel that I should go and play with the thunder#13. The Rasmus "In the Shadows"Of all the songs in the Top 40 this year, this one was the suprise hit of the year for me. I first heard this on Fuse, and after watching the music video I was thinking about how "ok" it was. It debuted on March 28th, spent 19 weeks in the top 40, and an incredible 11 weeks in the Top 10. Spending 3 weeks at #2 in 2004, "In the Shadows" is #13 for the year that was 2004.

I've found a reason for me To change who I used to be A reason to start over new and the reason is You #12. Hoobastank "The Reason"This. Was. The. Hit. in. 2004. heh, I never would've thought that Hoobastank would get a smash hit with the way today's music industry is, and I was pleastently suprised that this song was as big as it was. The song holds a special meaning to me, as it was #1 on my 18th birthday. But even that can't quite get it into the top 10!

Here I go, scream my lungs out and try to get to you You are my only one I let go, but there's just no one that gets me like you You are my only, my only one #11. Yellowcard "Only One"After having a hit on Gimpy's Top 40 with "Ocean Avenue," "Only One" was destined for success. Debuting on July 10th, and spending 17 weeks on the countdown, Yellowcard had another hit on their hands. This song had a very unique run, going 7-5-4-3-2-1, something that is very unique. "Only One" is inches away from the top 10 at #11. COMING UP: The Elite Ten of 2004, but first, the Top 10 WORST songs of 2004.

hold on to me love you know i can't stay long all i wanted to say was i love you and i'm not afraid can you hear me? can you feel me in your arms?#10. Evanescence "My Last Breath" This is one of those songs that I just loved so much that I didn't care if it was released or not, I had to chart it. Amy Lee's amazing voice and the strong lyrics make this song one of the best the band has ever done. Facing tough competiton, "My Last Breath" spent 1 week at No.1 on October 23rd.

If you find your family, don't you cry In this land of make-believe, dead and dry You're so cold, but you feel alive Lay your hands on me one last time #09. Breaking Benjamin "So Cold"I first heard of Breaking Benjamin when I found out that they were opening for Evanescence on this year's tour. I saw the "So Cold" video on Fuse and knew instantly that this band rocked. This song hit No.1 on July 24th. Breaking Benjamin won 2 awards at this year's Golden Gimp Awards, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year. Another track on the "We Are Not Alone" cd will be further down the road in the Top 40 of 2004.

You keep watching from your picket fence You keep talking but it makes no sense You say we're not responsible But we are, we are You wash your hands and come out clean Fail to recognise the enemies within You say we're not responsible But we are, we are, we are, we are #08. Ana Johnsson "We Are"Ana Johnsson was one of my favorite breakout artists in '04 and her track off of the Spiderman 2 soundtrack was played on my computer probably more then any other song this year. It hit #1 for a week not long ago, and I think if I hadn't start to grow tired with the single near its peak, it would've been higher. But #8 is till great, right?

The worst is over now and we can breathe again I wanna hold you high, you steal my pain away There's so much left to learn, and no one left to fight I wanna hold you high and steal your pain#07. Seether & Amy Lee "Broken"I remember hearing about this track on the Punisher soundtrack and I went out and bought it just for this one song, something that I don't do very often. I fell in love with this song immedately and couldn't get enough of it. It hit #1 within 5 weeks of being on the chart, a countdown record. That was on May 5th of this year. It spent 3 weeks at No.1, and the song started to pick up mainstream steam after it had fallen off of my chart! It's #7 on Gimpy's Top 40 of 2004.
