Looking back, I've noticed that things are a lot more hectic at the top the past few years...:
Amount of number ones per year:
1997 - 18 (5 were Australian, spending 9 weeks at #1) 1998 - 10 (2 were Australian, spending 26 weeks at #1) 1999 - 14 (5 were Australian, spending 15 weeks at #1) 2000 - 15 (7 were Australian, spending 27 weeks at #1) 2001 - 14 (3 were Australian*, spending 23 weeks at #1) 2002 - 12 (3 were Australian, spending 14 weeks at #1) 2003 - 22 (6 were Australian, spending 11 weeks at #1) 2004 - 23 (12 were Australian, spending 35 weeks at #1) 2005 - 21 (8 were Australian, spending 28 weeks at #1) 2006 - 20 (9 were Australian, spending 25 weeks at #1)
*does not include Ewan Macgregor's/Nicole Kidman's 'Come What May'.

2003 - 21 (Britney was #1 for 7 weeks) 2004 - 15 so far. (Britney was #1 for 23 weeks)
