This time, post which songs by which artists that made it to #1 on your charts, following a flop.
Mine later.

Vitamin C Her only previous hit, "Smile", only reached #40 (and "Me, Myself, and I" didn't chart), but "Graduation" reached #1 for 2 weeks.
Jessica Simpson "Where You Are" failed to chart, but "I Think I'm In Love With You" was a #1 for 1 week.
U2 "Elevation" failed to chart, but "Stuck In A Moment You Can't Get Out Of" was #1 for 1 week.
Daniel Bedingfield "James Dean" peaked at #34, but "If You're Not The One" was #1 for 5 weeks.
Eminem "Superman" had to settle for a #40 peak, but that didn't stop "Sing For The Moment" from snatching #1 for a single week.
Hilary Duff "Why Not" peaked at #56, but "So Yesterday" was #1 for a week.
Christina Aguilera After the #26 flop of "Can't Hold Us Down", "The Voice Within" managed to get 2 weeks at #1.
Blink 182 "Feeling This" could only get #86, but "I Miss You" went all the way to the top for a single week.
Usher "Yeah" stalled quickly at #21, but "Burn" flew up the chart and got in 2 weeks at #1.
Hoobastank "Out Of Control" failed to chart, but "The Reason" spent 4 weeks at #1.

Anastacia Love Is A Crime which despite the lack of support, managed 1 day and a #25 peak but dismal nontheless. She followed up with Left Outside Alone(thanks to Kworb and Ed) and she bamboozled the opposition with a whopping 75 days and 6 of those days at #1 and retired. On my MWC, she never charted with LIAC but hit #1 4 times in a row with LOA.
Avril Lavigne That reminds me Jessica, Avril is another consideration. Though she had trouble with her current hit, she did something good. After the #6 peak and 2 runs for I Don't Give, and a dismal #20 and 1 day performance for Knockin On Heaven's Door. Then she exploded with an impressive #6 debut and 2 days at #1 with 100 total days. That song of course was Don't Tell Me, but the only reason it hit #1 was because of the video. Without it, she would've folded at #5 tops.

Avril Lavigne is the only one for me - "Nobody's Fool" went to #25, and then "Don't Tell Me" went to #1 for three weeks.

On The Max: Maroon 5 didn't do all that well with 'Harder To Breathe'. Not a "flop" but I don't think it made the Top 20. 'This Love' hit #1 for a week. Missy Elliott's 'Gossipin Folx' followed the #54 peak of 'Work It'. Eminem's 'Superman' followed #32 'Lose Yourself'. Coldplay's 'Clocks' followed #42's 'In My Place'. Whatever songs came before 'Picture' by Kid Rock. If anything came before '03 Bonnie And Clyde' by Jay-Z Pink's 'Get The Party Started' didn't make the Top 50 but 'Don't Let Me Get Me' hit #1. 'Elevation' peaked outside the Top 50 but 'Stuck In A Moment' hit #1. I don't wanna go back anymore

more
GREEN DAY After their last hit Warning failed to make top 10, they returned with a bang. American Idiot hit #1 after just over a week on. They did it again with Boulevard Of Broken Dreams as it became the quickest rock song to hit #1 ever, which went there in only its 2nd day.

Puddle of Mudd - Drift and Die -- DNC Puddle of Mudd - She f*cking Hates Me -- #1 (4wks)
Dixie Chicks - Long Time Gone -- #30 Dixie Chicks - Landslide -- #1 (10wks) Seeing how LTG was DC's first charting single and definetly not a flop for country songs at the time, calling it a flop is an injustice to an otherwise great song, which broke through to a mostly rock chart.
Kid Rock - Never Met a Mother f*cker Quite Like Me -- DNC Kid Rock ft. Sheryl Crow - Picture -- #1 (1wk)
Linkin Park - Pts.Of.Athrty -- #21 Linkin Park - Somewhere I Belong -- #1 (1wk)
Audioslave - Cochise -- DNC Audioslave - Like a Stone -- #1 (2wks)
OutKast - Land of a Thousand Drums -- #14 Outkast - Hey Ya! -- #1 (6wks)
Brad Paisley - Little Moments -- DNC Brad Paisley and Alison Krauss -- Whiskey Lullaby -- #1 (3wks)
U2 - Electrical Storm -- DNC U2 - Vertigo -- #1 (1wk)
