In February, I compiled a list of my 1,000 favorites of all-time....now, here come the songs that I don't like.
150. Don McLean, "American Pie" (1971) An eight-and-a-half minute melodramatic tale of three pop singers who died in a tragic plane crash in February 1959. I was tempted to place this much higher, but since it's a tribute to the dead, I find it a bit tacky to rank it so high. It sure is deserving of a spot on my Worst Songs list, though.
149. Nitty, "Nasty Girl" (2004) Urban songs that I don't like are among the rarest of occurrences. But Nitty surely achieved this remarkable feat, producing a rap record with a 1960's sample that I had to turn off everytime I heard it.
148. Rupert Holmes, "Escape (The Pina Colada Song)" (1979) A sugar-coated, watered-down story of how a husband and wife meet purely by coincidence.
147. Jesse McCartney, "She's No You" (2004) After "Beautiful Soul", he just went downhill. Big time.
146. The Happenings, "See You In September" (1966) The most annoying falsetto voice I've ever heard. When Frankie Valli did it, you knew it was real. Even a 12-year-old kid couldn't hit a note this high without it sounding forced.
145. Ashley Parker Angel, "Let U Go" (2006) This stops just short of a screamfest, thankfully. If it did cross the border into a screamfest, it would definitely have ranked much higher.
144. Culture Club, "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me" (1982) That question makes me want to hurt "you" - whoever "you" are - even more.
143. Nelson, "(Can't Live Without Your) Love And Affection" (1990) These lyrics belong more in a Valentine's Day card than in a pop record.
142. DJ Sammy & Yanou, "Heaven" (2002) Blame Z-100 for this one. They played this song to death, starting in early summer 2002, and carrying on well into 2003. I'm totally burned out.
141. The Toys, "A Lover's Concerto" (1963) As much as I like 1960's R&B girl groups, this one always annoyed me.

Agreed on Nitty, Rupert Holmes (somewhat) and Jesse McCartney (although I think he got better after "Beautiful Soul", which I thought was horrendous... and his singles progressively got better) I probably wouldn't like the Happenings or Toys songs (a.k.a. Random Geezers) "Let U Go" is okay, but nothing I'd want to hear too much. Disagreed completely on "American Pie", "Do You Really Want To Hurt Me", "Love And Affection" and "Heaven"... all really good songs ;D

140. Panic! At The Disco, "I Write Sins Not Tragedies" (2005) Catchy the first time, insufferable the third, maddening and irritating every time thereafter.
139. Kim Carnes, "Bette Davis Eyes" (1981) This record is so boring, it's hard to resist the urge to doze off when it comes on.
138. Bobby Vee, "Take Good Care Of My Baby" (1961) Go away, Bobby Vee, you and your annoying voice. Go away once and for all.
137. Shakira featuring Wyclef Jean, "Hips Don't Lie" (2006) This blocked Nelly Furtado's "Promiscuous" from #1 on the Hot 100. That's reason enough for me to hate it. Not to mention its continuous overplay on Z-100.
136. Jan Bradley, "Mama Didn't Lie" (1963) I guess your mama said that your one and only hit sucked. In that case, I have to agree with her.
135. Joe Cocker featuring Jennifer Warnes, "Up Where We Belong" (1982) Another cheesy 80's borefest.
134. The All-American Rejects, "Dirty Little Secret" (2005) Random rock which unfortunately crossed over to pop which unfortunately got overplayed.
133. Mario, "Just A Friend 2002" (2002) What a way to make a song sound forever dated. And what a lame excuse for changing the title.
132. The Beach Boys, "Sloop John B" (1966) The only song from them that I don't like. These lyrics are way too repetitive.
131. Bobby Vinton, "Mr. Lonely" (1960) Bobby Vee....Bobby Vinton.....who cares? Random geezers that make my ears bleed.

Completely disagreed on "Bette Davis Eyes" and "Up Where We Belong"... they may be from a time period that Jess hates on AT40 Flashback, but I like them both "Hips Don't Lie" may be overplayed now, but I probably won't be burned out on it in 5 years or so So I wouldn't include it in such a list. "I Write Sins Not Tragedies", "Dirty Little Secret", "Just A Friend" and "Sloop John B" are all okay, but nothing special to me. Only know the Bobby Vinton song through the Akon sample... so I only know it sped up But I'll take your word Same with the other two geezerly songs I didn't mention, I probably wouldn't like them

130. Blink-182, "The Rock Show" (2001) They had some good songs, some mediocre songs, and some bad songs. This one belongs in the third group.
129. Lonestar, "Amazed" (1999) With the exception of Shania Twain and Faith Hill, there hasn't been one country crossover song that I've ever liked. #1 on the Hot 100? It's shocking that a total borefest like this managed to dominate the airwaves for so long.
128. Creed, "With Arms Wide Open" (1999) Another random rock band with a few big crossover hits. This was tolerable at first, but quickly became annoying.
127. Bon Jovi, "Who Says You Can't Go Home" (2005) One of the few rock bands that I've actually liked....well, most of the time. This is the only hit of theirs that I didn't care for. Thankfully, Z-100 didn't add it.
126. B5, "Who's Afraid Of The Big Bad Wolf" (2005) This record is a joke. And that's coming from an urban music fan.
125. Lesley Gore, "It's My Party" (1964) A 60's version of Pink. An angry woman whose lyrics try, unsuccessfully, to win the listener's sympathy.
124. Righteous Brothers, "(You're My) Soul And Inspiration" (1966) I liked all their other big singles, but this one is almost painful to listen to.
123. Chris Montez, "Let's Dance" (1962) Another geezerly annoyance.
122. Shelley Fabares, "Johnny Angel" (1962) A sweet, sugary vocal performance effectively masked the haunting lyrics of this "love" melody, but I still find it quite repetitive and irritating.
121. Stars On 45, "Stars On 45 Medley" (1981) This was the second-cheapest attempt at manufacturing a pop song - just blending a whole bunch of 60's hits together into a mash-up. Of course, we all know, the cheapest attempt at manufacturing a pop record came in 2002, and sadly was a big hit.

Disagreed on Blink 182, Lonestar and Creed... I like all of those. Bon Jovi's song I liked, but now I'm really burned out on it. Not a fan of "It's My Party" at all, but I normally don't listen to music that old, I try to avoid it Don't like the Stars on 45 one either, it's quite cheesy One of the weak 1981 hits that makes it no surprise why they avoided it on AT40 Flashback I'll take your word on B5 (I haven't liked any of their stuff) and Chris Montez and Shelley Fabares (I think I've heard that one, and if it is the song it is, EWWWWWWWWW)... as for the Righteous Brothers, don't know that one, but I like their other big hits.

120. Herman's Hermits, "Mrs. Brown, You've Got A Lovely Daughter" (1966)Pure geezer silliness.119. Foo Fighters, "Best Of You" (2005)This one was way too much of a screamfest for me. Certainly shouldn't have crossed over; it wasn't very pop-friendly at all.118. Vicki Lawrence, "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" (1974)A cheesy 70's pop one-hit wonder. I don't think we'd be able to tolerate a second single.117. Sam Cooke, "Another Saturday Night" (1961)The most lame, repetitive chorus I've ever heard.116. Natalie, "Goin' Crazy" (2004)I hated this from the first time I heard it, and as soon as Z-100 added it, I knew I was doomed to hear it non-stop for the next three months. And that's just what happened.115. Sonny & Cher, "I Got You Babe" (1965)What a poor excuse for a love song. "There ain't no mountain we can't climb"....is that supposed to be dirty? It can't be, since this song came out over 40 years ago. It must have been intended to mean just that. Ugh. Stupid lyrics with annoying noises in the background.114. Smokey Robinson, "Cruisin'" (1979)He wasn't bad at all when he sang with the Motown group The Miracles, but his solo career was very disappointing.113. Oak Ridge Boys, "Elvira" (1971)This would have made a great novelty track. The sad thing is, it was meant as a real, honest attempt at a pop record.112. Petula Clark, "Downtown" (1965)Her voice just makes me angry. Very angry.111. Paul And Paula, "Hey Paula" (1963)Does it get any more weak than this? You can't think of a title for your song, so you just put your name in there. Actually, yes, it does get worse. There are nearly a dozen Kelly songs still to come on my list.

"Goin' Crazy" and "Best Of You" I liked last year... so I disagree with those. I remember hearing the Oak Ridge Boys song on a BWT10... and it was so horribly geezerly! Good call on that one. Thankfully haven't heard it since. "I Got You Babe" and "Downtown" aren't horrible, but they aren't great either. Don't know the other geezerly songs there, but I bet I'd agree with those

Foo Fighters, "Best Of You" (2005) - as shocking as it is, I'm gonna have to agree with you here. don't get me wrong, I loooove the Foo's <3, but this song was a mess. 118. Vicki Lawrence, "The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia" (1974) - nh 117. Sam Cooke, "Another Saturday Night" (1961) - nh 116. Natalie, "Goin' Crazy" (2004) - awww, I liked this song 115. Sonny & Cher, "I Got You Babe" (1965) - agreed, Cher was better without Sonny 114. Smokey Robinson, "Cruisin'" (1979) - nh 113. Oak Ridge Boys, "Elvira" (1971) - BRYAN, WHEN DID ADAM DO A 70'S BWT10?!?!?! nh btw 112. Petula Clark, "Downtown" (1965) - phew! when I saw Bry said something about a song called "Downtown", I was scared you put SWV on here. This song I dunno. 111. Paul And Paula, "Hey Paula" (1963) - nh BTW, there's a 99.9% chance that all these geezerly songs I NH I would agree with, since 60s and 70s le meh.
