just like i've been doin with the 90s, there was also 1 for the 80s which i honestly didn't pay much attention 2 n also 1 for the naughties which i thought had some rather intersting artists in certain positions that maybe we can discuss as we should all be familar with these artists!!! this was a special on max (aussie music channel) which counted down the top 100 artists of the 00s based on performences on the single and album charts globally aswell as considering music awards as such, so everyday i'll countdown 1 artist so then we can discuss that artist (any early predictions as to who will be #1) ? #100. Marc Anthony
Biggest Hit of the 00s: I Need To Know
Biggest Album of the 00s: Libre
Other Singles from the 00s: You Sang To Me, My Baby You, Celos, Barco A La Deriva, Viviendo, Tragedy, I Need You, I've Got You, Amigo, Se Esfuma Tu Amor & Que Precio Tiene El Cielo.
Biography of the 00s: Marc Anthony is an American singer-songwriter popular in Latin America for his salsa music and salsa monga ballads.
In late 1999, attempting to emulate the crossover success of Jennifer Lopez and Ricky Martin in the anglophone market, Anthony released an English-language Latin Pop self titled album with the US Top 5 hit single "I Need to Know", and the Spanish version "Dímelo". Other hits include "When I Dream At Night" and "My Baby You". His song "You Sang To Me", was featured in Runaway Bride. The foray was considered a mixed success, partly because it alienated his traditional salsa fans, though "Da La Vuelta" (Not a Spanish version of any of the songs) was a salsa song and was a hit. Another note is that the song "That's Okay" has more of a salsa tune than pop. In 2001, he debuted another salsa album known as Libre and was certified gold with songs like "Celos", "Este Loco Que Te Mira", and "Viviendo". "Barco A La Deriva", another hit in Libre, was previously performed by Venezuelan singer and actor Guillermo Dávila. The year after that, he made another English-language album called Mended which included smash hit "I've Got You", the Spanish version "Te Tengo Aquí", "I Need You" (which Spanish version "Me Haces Falta" was written by Mexican star Thalía), "Tragedy", "Love Won't Get Any Better", and "She Mends Me". Like his "Marc Anthony" album, it received mixed reviews, though slightly lower.
In June 2004 he released a Latin Pop album Amar Sin Mentiras. On July 2004, he converted those songs to salsa in another album, Valio La Pena and included the traditional "Lamento Boricano" that was composed by Rafael Hernández. Notable songs of both albums include "Ahora Quien", "Escapémonos" with Jennifer Lopez, "Valió La Pena", "Se Esfuma Tu Amor", and "Tu Amor Me Hace Bien". In the Latin Grammy Awards 2005, his Amar Sin Mentiras won best Latin Pop Album of The Year and his Valió La Pena won Best Tropical Album of The Year. Lopez and Anthony performed "Escapémonos" at the 2005 Grammy Awards.
On July 11, 2006 Marc Anthony released "Sigo Siendo Yo", a Spanish greatest-hits album. "Que Precio Tiene El Cielo" was the 1st single salsa song and "Lo Que No Di" as a Latin pop song. It is confirmed that Anthony will star as Hector Lavoe in El Cantante along with his wife (who act as Lavoe's wife in the fim) which will be released in August 2007.

Marc is hit or miss for me. I can't stand I Need to Know or You Sang to Me (primarily due to overplay) however I LOVE My Baby You and I Want to Spend My Lifetime Loving You.

I think the only Marc Anthony song I really liked was "You Sang To Me" and I wouldn't even want to hear that too often. I got tired of "I Need To Know" pretty quickly. And the songs from his second English-language album never really caught on with me.

#99. Chris Brown
Biggest Hit of the 00s: Run It!
Biggest Album of the 00s: Chris Brown
Other Singles from the 00s: Yo (Excuse Me Miss), Gimme That (featuring Lil Wayne), Say Goodbye, Poppin', Shortie Like Mine (with Bow Wow) & Wall To Wall.
Biography of the 00s: Christopher Maurice Brown professionally known as Chris Brown, is a Grammy Award-nominated American R&B and pop singer, dancer, and occasional actor who released his Billboard Hot 100 number-one debut single "Run It!" in 2005, which was produced by Scott Storch and featured Juelz Santana. His self-titled debut album spawned four successful Top 10 and Top 20 hits in the United States. To date, the album has sold 2.1 million copies in the U.S. and 3 million worldwide.
Brown left school in late 2004 to begin working on his self-titled debut album, Chris Brown, which was released on November 29, 2005. His debut single “Run It!”, was #1 in the United States, Japan, and Australia. Following “Run It!”, “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” became Brown’s second top 10 hit in the US, peaking at #7, and #13 in the UK. It has been certified platinum by the RIAA. His third single “Gimme That” was released in March 2006 which featured Lil’ Wayne for a remix, originally not featured on the Chris Brown album, but was later included. The single debuted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at #80 and climbed the charts quickly. Chris also co-directed his music videos for “Yo (Excuse Me Miss)” and “Gimme That”. His fourth single is the ballad “Say Goodbye”, which is also a part of the Step Up Soundtrack. On June 13, 2006, Brown released a DVD entitled, Chris Brown’s Journey, which shows footage of him traveling in London and Japan, getting ready for his first visit to the Grammys, behind the scenes of his music videos and bloopers.
On August 17, 2006, Brown and Ne-Yo co-headlined the 28-city Up Close and Personal Tour.
Shortly after ending his summer tour with Ne-Yo, Brown quickly began production for his second studio album, Exclusive, which is set to release on August 28, 2007.
According to MTV News, Brown stated: "I am still going to keep it so my younger fans can continue to listen to my music, but I got a couple of joints on there that's for some of the older people." On May 2, 2007, Brown leaked the first single himself, Wall 2 Wall, against his record label's wishes. The single debuted on the Billboard Hot 100 at #96, and has since risen to #92.He is going on tour in October and November with Bow Wow, T-Pain, and Rihanna. He says it is not going to be like the scream tour. It is his own tour.

#98. Stacie Oricco
Biggest Hit of the 00s: Stuck
Biggest Album of the 00s: Stacie Orrico
Other Singles from the 00s: Don't Look At Me, Without Love, With A Little Faith, Stay True, (There's Gotta Be) More To Life, I Promise, I Could Be The One, Instead, I'm Not Missing You & So Simple.
Biography of the 00s: Stacie Joy Orrico is a Grammy-nominated and Dove Award-winning pop singer, songwriter, and occasional actress.
Orrico got her start in 1998 at the age of 12 by attending a Christian music festival Praise in the Rockies, held in her then-home state of Colorado. Orrico inadvertently entered a high-stakes talent competition, and won. A ForeFront Records executive was on hand and approached her for a record deal (she eventually did sign with them).
Since then, she has released two albums. The first was Genuine (see 2000 in music), created at the young age of fourteen. It sold over 13,000 copies in the first week, the highest debut week sales ever for a female Christian artist. The album produced the hit single "Don't Look At Me" which topped Christian charts for ten consecutive weeks. The album had two #1 hits as well as three more Top Ten singles. Genuine eventually sold 500,000 copies, giving the album Gold certification on just word-of-mouth alone.
Her next effort, the more mainstream and self-titled Stacie Orrico, was released in 2003 (see 2003 in music) and charted in the U.S. Billboard Top 200 (debuting at #67), Australian ARIAnet and the United Kingdom albums charts. The first maintream single from this album was "Stuck", which became a worldwide hit making it into the Top 5 or Top 10 of the majority of the world's charts. This was followed by the single "(There's Gotta Be) More To Life", which also charted and went top 20 in Australia and the UK. "More To Life" failed to do as well as "Stuck" but still became a hit in many countries. This was then followed by "I Promise" (top 30 in the UK), and the final mainstream single "I Could Be The One" (top 40 in the UK on June 2004). Both singles were given limited releases and limited promotion, and predictably they did not fare as well as the first two singles. The last three singles were only released to Christian radio in addition to "Strong Enough", which reached #1 as the CD's very first single. Stacie Orrico sold over 500,000 copies in the U.S., also good for Gold certification. The album also sold 600,000 in Japan and an estimated 3.4 million copies worldwide.
Her new album Beautiful Awakening was set to be released worldwide on August 29, 2006, but because of concerns of competition with new albums from Jessica Simpson, Beyoncé, Justin Timberlake, and other chart toppers, it was delayed in the U.S. until March 2007. Though a few songs from the new album leaked onto the internet, Beautiful Awakening was still released in Japan, the UK, and other countries. The album features production from Dallas Austin, Dwayne Bastiany, KayGee and The Underdogs and writing duties are performed by notable songwriters like She'kspere, Track & Field, Anthony Dent, newcomer Novel and Orrico herself.
The first single "I'm Not Missing You" went for radio adds on June 20, 2006, but due to little promotion was re-released in October. The song peaked at #19 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart. The second single from the album, "So Simple," was released in Asia in October 2006 and was released in Europe on January 27, 2007.
Her music is looked at as an influential part of the now highly profitable Contemporary Christian Music industry, along with bands such as P.O.D.
At the beginning of 2007, American and Canadian fans eagerly anticipated the belated release of Orrico's third studio album "Beautiful Awakening"... which was then later postponed again with a problem at Virgin Records. In March 2007, Orrico announced to fans that Virgin Records was merging with Capitol Records and she had left them and would not be releasing the album with that label.
After the release of Stacie Orrico and the singles from that album, Orrico decided she did not want to pursue her career in music any further. She and her friends went to stay in Malibu in California, where Orrico started work in a small cafe. Throughout her break, however, Orrico continued writing music which then, eventually, led her back to her career. She started recording again and developed a new album Beautiful Awakening.
In February 2007, Orrico left Virgin Records due to the label merging with Capitol Records and her album never being released in the US. This gave her a lot of free time in which she has now started raising money to travel to South Africa, as a volunteer with Cross-Cultural Solutions, to help children with AIDS.
