Madonna, Evanescence Lead Again; Third Pearl Jam Song Enters
For a third straight week, the top 2 slots on Jessica's Top 40 are occupied by Madonna's "Jump" at #1 and Evanescence's "Call Me When You're Sober" at #2. However, the two songs face a few growing challenges.
The most threatening happens to be the latest single from the year's most successful act by far, as Pearl Jam has the week's highest debut at #4 with "Gone". The third proper single from the band's self-titled album follows the success of "World Wide Suicide" (down 17-21) and "Life Wasted" (down 10-11), the latter of which also debuted in the top 5, at #2 back in May.
There's another threat in Sebastian Prospero's "Everytime I Hear Cascada, I Think Of Leigy" up 12-5 to be the pick of the week; however, Sebastian's last two entries peaked in their third chart weeks, so don't expect a long chart run, especially with Pearl Jam expected to grow.
The top 3 is rounded out by Jewel's "Good Day", holding bulletless at #3. Megan McCauley moves 14-6 with "Tap That", while Stabilo moves 15-10 with "Flawed Design".
The week's greatest gainer is Bananarama's "Look On The Floor" up 25-13. Stefy's "Chelsea" has the pick of the week, up 28-20.
Pearl Jam's new single isn't the only new entry within the top 25 portion of the chart, as Christina Aguilera debuts at #24 with "Hurt". It's the first time in 14 months where there are two debuts in the top 25; the last time it happened was the week of June 26, 2005 when Alanis Morissette's "Hand In My Pocket (acoustic)" debuted at #1 and Tori Amos's "The Beekeeper" entered at #19.
There's also new entries from Joan Jett & The Blackhearts' "A.C.D.C." at #36, the Panic Channel's "Why Cry" at #37, and Jordan Night and Deborah Gibson's "Say Goodbye" at #38.
Have a great weekend!
