Hello everyone! There are so many hot songs out there right now, so the #1 position has been a revolving door. This week, for the first time since late 1998, Chris Isaak assumes #1 with his dynamite cover of Cheap Trick's "I Want You To Want Me" (which sounds even better in concert!). I've been a big fan of his since his first (and best) CD Silvertone, which had to get notice overseas (particularly in France) before he broke out in North America in the late 80's. I was fortunate enough to interview him in 1987 - and he is much wittier in person than the scripts on his TV show would have you believe.
That leaves Jon Secada's remake of his own "Just Another Day" to languish at #2. It just isn't as good as his original, but close enough! Keane's "Is It Any Wonder" is a song I like to hear really loud these days and it moves up 8-3. While songs by Mobile, Jenny Bliss, and Madonna are great to hear anytime, look for other songs by Howard Jones, Christina Aguilera, George Michael, and Sherrie Lea to make inroads during the summer.
Three of my favourite songs this year reach their 10-chart maximum this week, so in two weeks you can expect a few of this year's very recent gems to receive high debuts. In the meantime, there are three this week.
My next chart won't be posted until I'm back from vacation around July 24 (Bryan will have to hold this one over for two weeks).
Please post your comments! Thanks and enjoy
NEW TO THE CHART:
I WILL LOVE AGAIN / Taras
NO TOMORROW / Orson
SINGLE / Natasha Bedingfield
