This week only two new songs manage to break into the chart. The first of the week is the third solo single for Star Academy 4's winner, Grégory Lemarchal. He enters at #48 with "A Corps Perdu", following up his recent #25 hit, "Je Suis En Vie". The second song comes in 12 places higher at #36. Westlife enter with one of their stongest songs ever, "Amazing". I would not be surprised if this becomes their second Top 10 single.
The biggest mover of the week is "I Belong To You/Il Ritmo della Passionne" from Anastacia & Eros Ramazzotti. This looks like it could be one of Anastacia's biggest singles on the chart, possibly matching her two previous Top 10s. t.A.t.u. also make a sizable move this week with "Friend or Foe" which flies up to #22. Annie Villeneuve also looks to be Top 10 bound as "Quand Je Ferme les Yeux" moves up 9 places to #24.
It's all about Madonna in the Top 10, as she holds three positions there. "Jump", which is planned as her third single from the CD, slides up 1 place to #10. I charted this early because the local dance radio station played this continually, that is up until 2 weeks ago when they were bought out by a right-wing talk radio station. "Hung Up" slides back only 1 place, to #5 this week. Bumping her down is her soon to be released 2nd single, "Sorry". In all the years of Madonna's popularity on my chart, this is the first time she's ever had such a strong showing on the chart, and this being the 21st year she's been on my chart. God do I feel old! Another artist enjoying multiple Top 10s this week is Will Young. "Switch It On" moves back up, again this week, climbing one place to #7, while his second single "All Time Love" finally gets bumped out of #1. This means a new #1 after 7 weeks of Will. Meggie didn't make it, but does move up nicely into the runner-up position. Mathieu and Lucie climb to #1 with their first #1 as named artists. Both previously hit #1 as a member of Star Academy 4. How long can they stay on top? Will Meggie bump them out? Will "Sorry" disappoint both of them next week? Come back and find out.
