The RIAA has certified Sunflower by Post Malone and Swae Lee as the first double-diamond single. To me though this has to be asterisked since a lot of those points counting towards double-diamond status are from streaming. This still to me does not compare to selling 1 million physical singles.

And who is even streaming this anyway? If this song were anymore mid it would be "Calm Down." I barely even remember how this sounds.

Although I actually don't hate this song (it's okay but nothing I'd go out of my way to listen to), I agree with you 100%.

I am frequently amazed when I see singers I've never heard of with songs that have half a billion+ streams on Spotify

While Bill's point is well taken, I still consider it a neat accomplishment. Who would've figured that the double diamond mark would ever be reached...and in only five years?
If it's asterisked in the minds of some, I don't consider it any different than all of those late 90s/early 2000s first week album sales of "2 point something" million. I think some of those sales may have been driven by a desire for chart position and bragging rights, not because all of those individual people were desperate to have a Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys album.
