For those who have listened to Joan Jett's 'I Love Rock n' Roll' a lot, please fill in the blank for the first line of the song:
I saw him (....) there by the record machine.
Don't look on the net, of course, it's a memory test! You can look after.

I think this is one of those lyrics that those of us who were around at the time just remember as something else. Because I certainly didn't get it right!

Like Vic and probably you also Bill, I'm also convinced at 99% I've always heard 'standing'
It falls under one of those collective false memories thing or 'Mandela effect' There's more like that if you look on the net...
Some say it's because the quantum physics experiments at CERN have switched us into a parallel universe where things are slightly different. Others that we live in a 'simulation' and sometimes 'glitches' occur...
But more likely there's an explanation which I will add in a few days if more people want to test themselves first.

Ok, so the correct lyric is ‘Dancin’’ even though a lot of people like me remember it as ‘standing’.
I saw him (Dancin’) there by the record machine.
The usual explanation given for this false memory is that the original version by The Arrows was through the eyes of the singer about a girl. Joan Jett just replaced the hers with hims.
So, most likely it’s a case of stereotypes where we are okay with a girl dancing by the jukebox, but less likely to think a boy would be dancin’ by the record machine. Especially since the song is in the style of edgy rock. So our minds just replaced dancing with standing.
