Not sure how you feel about today's "pop" music. I am going to stick the pop music genre but I am sure this affects music of all types. Now I know music trends change as the years go by, that is not what this is about. For me, today's "pop" music is so disappointing. Yes I am getting older, but its not that. Yes as we get older, tastes may shift. But mine are pretty much the same as they have have always been. I just find that all the songs sound the same and all sound blah. And I blame autotune. I doubt today's crop of newer singers can actually sing. I am a huge fan of female vocals, but I get very little from today's pop scene unless its someone like Kelly Clarkson, P!nk, Adele or someone like that who CAN sing without a machine. Their voices have tone, they can belt it out, and have feeling. Now they all have that same talk-sing sound of Rihanna. They guys are no better because most have that sound and sound like Bieber. And now I think things are just going to get worse. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is exploding out everywhere, and some of us have wasted many hours playing with it. But it looks like it will be part of the music scene. I found this article talking about what could come, and this was back in 2018! the article is below. So I guess real instruments like piano, guitar and drums will be gone. The songs will have no real originality or character. For me, its already a struggle to find 5-7 new songs to add to my current playlist. How do you find today's music? Is it as good as it always was? is it ok? Or is it a struggle to find fresh new music you like? builtin.com/artificial-intelligence/ai-working-its-way-music-charts

An interesting article! I wonder if we'll get level 1, 2 or... god forbid 3. The only Autotune I really notice is from a LOT of male artists, and have for years. That just tells me most male artists can't sing at all. I think female artists hide it better or have better production teams disguising it (except Cher in "Believe") There's one trend I hate even more than Autotune, and that's the "BLERP" or "BLIP!" mumbling $hit that is in pretty much ever rap and hip-hop track released these days - like ERGH, whyyyyyy!? AI will certainly be interesting. There's pros and cons, like anything. Streaming caused artists to be paid less than they're worth, so why put as much effort into their creativity? I think any of us over say 35yo really appreciate authenticity from the artists we chart. I may be put off music altogether. But maybe it's already been intergrated and has fooled me. Thankfully I'll always have (hopefully) live touring.
