Just read this article about Grace Slick (some of you may have heard of her) Now I am not bashing anyone here. I respect both Grace Slick and Stevie Nicks.
Grace says she doesn't think "old" people can rock as the younger folks. Can Stevie Nicks still rock? I think she can. I have seen Stevie in concert many times and when I watch her I don't see her as an old lady trying to rock out. Sure she doesn't have the energy as an person of 25 but I don't think she was ever an artist to go nuts on the stage. Stevie's songs that most define "rock" would probably be "Edge of Seventeen", "Stand Back" and "Gold Dust Woman". And she performs them today as she did 40 years ago. Stevie's More recent work is far from "rock" . She has mellowed out over the years. Also, most of Fleetwood Mac's fans have aged along with them. The fans know what to expect from Fleetwood Mac and Fleetwood Mac knows what to give them. I just find it odd for an established icon to shoot down others. Now as for "Edge of Seventeen" Maybe Stevie needs to update the song to be "Edge of Seventy"
What do you think? Do you think rockers should give it up when they hit their 60s? I didn't realize Grace retired from performing at 50. Should acts like The Stones, the Who, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi have stopped rocking out? For me, If you wanna keep rocking out...then do it.
To get something straight. Grace is not hating on Stevie Nicks or Fleetwood Mac. Just hating on old people who "rock"
