Greetings, chartaholics! ;D Okay, I’ve been having a great week this week. I got the new Sheryl Crow CD, Wildflower, and I love it! You guys definitely have to check it out. Also this week, I’ve been getting good grades in math… like, two or three weeks (I don’t remember which ) after I moved into a better class! Anyway, enough with the school chatter and on to my chart.

Melissa Etheridge Surprises JT40 As #1 This Week
While many JT40 watchers figured it would be Alanis Morissette's "Crazy" to knock Oasis out of #1, however, I proved all of you WRONG! Instead it's Melissa Etheridge's remake of Tom Petty's "Refugee" that climbs 5-1 in its fifth week to send "The Importance of Being Idle" by Oasis down to #3 after five weeks at #1. See? My chart isn’t very predictable after all. Speaking of how my chart is unpredictable, Tori Amos drops 2-7 with “Marys Of The Sea”. Sorry, Ari, too much competition!
"Crazy" - also a remake, of an early 90's song by Seal - moves 3-2 in its third week. Sheryl Crow remains a challenger with "Good Is Good" which sits at #4 for a fourth week, and Weezer moves 10-5 with "My Theme Song" (long story ), finally building steam after slow movement in its first two months on the chart. Earlier I said how my chart is unpredictable, now it’s time for how my chart IS predictable: Alanis definitely has a chance to get numbero uno next week.
New to the top 10 this week are Aimee Mann's "She Really Wants You" (13-9), matching the peak of her first chart hit "Going Through The Motions". Up 14-10 is Liz Phair's "Everything To Me", her third top 10 JT40 hit (not counting Jimmy Eat World's "Work", which featured her on backup vocals). Gotta love Aimee and Liz! ;D
The week's greatest gainer up 17 positions from #37 to #20 is Amber's "Just Like That (Romeo & Juliet)". *waits patiently for John to got nuts* It's the largest jump by a song not by Tori Amos since "Crazy Chick" by Charlotte Church jumped from #36 to #13 the week of June 20.
The pick of the week is Santana's "I'm Feeling You" up 33-28 in its fourth week. While slowly gaining movement, expect this to be a hit as competition dies down. *waits patiently for Bryan to go nuts this time*
The week's two highest debuts come from Canadian rock bands. At #31 is the Armchair Cynics' "Bang", which is a hit on Canadian modern rock radio at the moment, and at #38 is Nickelback's "Photograph", the first hit for the band best known for their 2001 hit "How You Remind Me". First John, then Bryan, and now… *waits patiently for JUSTIN to go nuts*
Former S Club singer Jo O'Meara's first solo single "What Hurts The Most" debuts at #39, hoping to have her follow in the footsteps of Rachel Stevens, who has had two top 10 JT40 hits this year.
Have a great weekend, everyone! ;D
