I like this song too! Don't remember it much when it was out but I started getting into it around 2005/2006ish when I started getting into more rock music.

I've never heard this song (although the other ones you mentioned "Adam's Rib" and "Waiting For The Tide" are bangers), but I want to reply to the whole "I bet she's Canadian" thing... At work whenever someone acts extra rude/entitled, my co-worker says to me, "I bet she's from New York", and then 9 times out of 10 we find out they are. Yes I know I am also from NY but I get that there's a stereotype and some of us really do suck. Especially if you're a 33-year-old boy in Brooklyn who still lives with his Mom.

Another great song from her! Still can't believe she never properly followed up that album.

Loved this then, still love it now. And again, glad someone else here remembers the video!

This song was freaking EVERYWHERE when it was out. And it's one of those songs that everyone loved. I loved it... but not as much as my Mom did! An absolute timeless classic for sure. This deserved all the success it got.

I like this song but it wasn't one of my favorites from her. You were introduced to MP3's before I was, my first download was Madonna's "Don't Tell Me".

This is the first Chantal song you've posted that I've heard I actually just rediscovered that "Leaving On A Jet Plane" was played on the Peoplebase episode of The Book Club that aired back in 2017, but I don't remember it at all. I'll have to give that another listen. Anyway, I first heard this in early 2019 but don't remember how I discovered it, but I really like it! I knew you liked Chantal a lot but I wasn't aware of how impactful this song was for you. The way you're describing it reminds me a lot of how Alanis's "Eight Easy Steps" was for me. This thread has really made me want to familiarize myself with Chantal more as I mostly remember her for the two or three times I saw "In This Life" on VH1 when they were trying to have her break through in the US.

I was introduced to this song a few years ago through a former friend, and it's, um... interesting. I like both artists in this song but they are a very odd collaboration, and I absolutely HATE the original version of this song. I'm not a fan of this either but I will gladly take it over the original from Melanie's off key ass.

Strongly disagree with your commentary on this one - loved it then, still love it now, and I never got sick of it. Hahaha sorry ๐ I also got SUPER sick of Angel too. Ugh! The other song from the soundtrack I still love is the Paula Cole song tho.

Did not know this when it was out but I do like this song! It is kind of a Jessielou song now that I think about it!

First off I find it very interesting you mentioned "Everything" there. Maybe in Canada it's different but here in the US that song has become very obscure. I would've put "Hands Clean" there instead. Second, THIS SONG IS A BANGER! This is another one I appreciated more after the fall 2004 Alanis resurgence. One of her top 10 best songs ever. Yeah, Iโd say Hands Clean might have been a bigger hit but I feel like Everything, when it came out, may have made a harder impact โ which might be around the fact that in the US, the first line was censored for radio but in Canada it wasnโt, and that was a source of pride for some people or something. Iโm sure both are obscure now but Iโd bet Everything would be more remembered if I had to make a bet.

The way you were with Celine is very similar to me. She was also a favorite of mine very early on and by 2002 I moved on to other artists (it didn't help that I wasn't super crazy about the A New Day Has Come era either). I loved "That's The Way It Is" and that was the last song of hers that was really big for me.
