www.rollingstone.com/pro/features/pay-for-play-radio-texts-1067691/I came across a pretty interesting article in Rolling Stone. Apparently, text messages from a radio promoter have been leaked that suggest he's been taking money from labels to pay to radio stations for increased airplay and adds. It's seems that payola is alive and well!

This honestly doesn't surprise me at all. The music industry for years has been notorious for being shady af.

This was obvious. There's no other reason for why so many shi++y songs become hits.
I wonder if they'll find others who are also illegally scheming as the middle man between labels and radio.

No surprise, it's been going on for years and is difficult to enforce unless someone pursues it. There are tons of people being paid as middle men between labels and radio.

Over on the Alt charts they just call it Kaplan Boy. Perhaps you can explain what this means?

Over on the Alt charts they just call it Kaplan Boy. Perhaps you can explain what this means? Over in the Skype chats it's the nickname we've given Mike Kaplan, MD of KROQ and WNYL. Every Entercom station follows his command and he is *very* anti-rock, which has led to some unusual anomalies on the Alt chart as of late.
