She was 69 years old. “It is with great sadness that I have to announce to the fans of The Pointer Sisters that my sister, Bonnie died this morning,” her sister Anita told TMZ, who first reported the news. “Our family is devastated, on behalf of my siblings and I and the entire Pointer family, we ask for your prayers at this time.” The Pointer Sisters were known throughout the late ’70s and early ’80s for hits like “I’m So Excited” “Fire,” “He’s So Shy,” “Slow Hand,” “Automatic” and “Jump for My Love.” In 1975, the sibling group won a Grammy for country performance by a duo or group with vocal for “Fairytale.” They won another two Grammys in 1985, though it was after Bonnie left the group to pursue a solo career in 1977. In 1978, Bonnie released her self-titled debut solo album, featuring “Heaven Must Have Sent You.” The youngest Pointer sister, June, died in 2006 after she was diagnosed with cancer. In February 2020, Bonnie and Anita released “Feels Like June” in honor of their sister.
