An arrest warrant was issued for Courtney Love on Wednesday.
Love has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly attacking Kristin King, a female friend of her former manager/boyfriend, James Barber, at his Los Angeles home "on or about" April 25. According to the felony complaint for arrest warrant, Love "did willfully and unlawfully commit an assault" upon King with a bottle and a metal flashlight "by means of force likely to produce great bodily injury."
The Superior Court of the State of California's Judge Craig E. Veals ordered the arrest warrant on June 2. Bail was set at $55,000 based on Love's prior arrest record, the seriousness of the crime and the fact that the crime was committed while Love was released from custody on bail from another charge. The singer was not in custody when the warrant was issued, and may not have been served with the warrant yet.
According to the court document, Love will be required to undergo DNA testing, based on the seriousness of the crime. Love has been ordered to provide two specimens of blood, a saliva sample, and thumb and palm print impressions.
On her Web site Wednesday morning (June 9), Love posted a note that said, "Barber is f---ing insane. WHAT?"
The is just the latest in a string of charges against Love in the past year. In October, she was arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Hours later, police were called to Love's Beverly Hills, California, home for a medical emergency, and found the singer with an unspecified amount of the prescription painkillers hydrocodone and oxycodone (see "Courtney Love Rushed To Hospital For Drug OD Following Arrest").
Love has also been charged with assault and reckless endangerment for allegedly hitting a fan with a microphone stand during a March 17 performance at New York club Plaid (see "Courtney Love Says Mic-Stand Accuser Is Motivated By Money").
