What is the longest gap between #1 songs for a lead artist on your chart? Surprisingly, mine is Adele. "Chasing Pavements" reached #1 in early 2008, and "Hello" got to the top at the end of 2015, almost 8 years apart

U2 has the record - over 12 years between "Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own" and "You're The Best Thing About Me".
Before this, Green Day held it - 11 years between "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams" and "Bang Bang".

I'm not exactly sure, but I feel like mine would most likely be Alanis Morissette with 16 years apart.. She hit a #2 hit for me in 1999 with "So Pure" but her previous #1 for me was "Ironic" in 1996, and then #1 again in 2012 with "Guardian".

For me it’s Sharleen Spiteri, who reached #1 on October 25, 2008 with her solo hit “All The Times I Cried”; her next #1 was with Texas on January 27, 2018, “Let’s Work It Out.”

The Backstreet Boys broke this record for me a few weeks back - they had 13 years between "Incomplete" and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart".

In the past two weeks, Cher and Sheryl Crow have each gone to the top for the first time in 16 years. Cher hit in 2002 with "(This Is) A Song for the Lonely" and last week with "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)." Sheryl Crow hit in 2002 with "Steve McQueen" and this week with "Wouldn't Want to Be Like You" featuring Annie Clark. But, like on FreakyFlyBry's chart, the Backstreet Boys broke an even-longer record on my chart: 20 years between "All I Have to Give" in 1998 and "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" this summer.

Dolores O'Riordan just got her first #1 in 12 years on my chart - her solo hit "Ordinary Day" got #1 for me in 2007, and just this week, her song with the Cranberries, "All Over Now", has reached #1 for me too.

My previous record in this category was
David Bowie - 25 years and 9 months: Day In Day Out [6/14/87] to Where Are We Now [3/31/13]
but this week Bruce Springsteen broke it:
Bruce Springsteen - 33 years and 9 months: Born in the USA [10/6/85] to Hello Sunshine [7/21/19]
Born in the USA was #1 in the fourth week since I started doing charts.
I don't see any artist breaking that record unless Dire Straits, Alphaville or the Rolling Stones release something really good.

With my new chart, the record has now changed! Darren Hayes is just over 14 years between #1's with "Let's Try Being In Love". His last number one was "How To Build A Time Machine" in 2007/08.

The Goo Goo Dolls just broke the record this week.
Before this, they had #1 with "Better Days" in November 2005. Now, in July 2022, they've got their next #1 with "Yeah, I Like You".
