Hey guys!
I just returned from the Ellie Goulding concert
It was at an outdoor venue, and the night-time air was so nice, and the weather was perfect.
Ellie's support act was an artist named Asta. I hadn't heard of her. I arrived most of the way through her set, as I only really wanted to see Ellie.
The music I heard from Asta was actually quite good. She performed her new single. She thanked the crowd for "Actually showing up."
Then there was a break and Ellie hit the stage.
I was to the side, so I had a view of her even though she was directly behind a gold curtain suspended from the ceiling, so it was a reveal for the crowd in the middle, but not really for us on the side. Her long blonde hair looked awesome and she was dressed in a cape thingy.
I didn't know the first two songs. She had 4 male dancers and 3 female back-up singers.
I took note of the songs from the 3rd song in, which was "Something In The Way You Move". She lost the cape to reveal black sparkly a skirt/skort and sparkly black top. That really got the crowd going.
That was followed by "Outside", so it was really clubbed up, loud and awesome. There were 6 steam-jets which went off on the stage whenever the chorus came around. So, so cool.
Then she thanked us all for coming, in her adorable British accent. Ahh, just love her.
Next was "Your My Everything" and then she slowed it down with "Devotion", where she grabbed a huge white guitar and played it whilst singing. Woohoo, a musician!
Next was "Keep On Dancing", where she'd somehow changed into a multi-coloured jumpsuit without me even noticing.
Up next, "I Don't Need Nobody." I might be getting these titles wrong on songs I'm unfamilar with. I was too busy watching her perform live but I was taking note of what I thought the song titles were haha.
Next there was a break where her dancers came out and did some cool acrobatics on stage. I noticed that two of them were white and two of them were black Can't call Ellie a racist
The backup singers appeared, and shortly after, ellie re-appears on stage in a flowing white dress. She looked absolutely divine.
She sang "Explosions."
Up next was "Still Falling For You", which made me scream, as it's currently in my Top 5 So so SO good.
She then asked who was here with their best friend, and the crowd screamed, and she said that she wrote the next song for her best friend, which was "Army." So so cute. I didn't realize that's what it was about.
She then introduced her guitarist, a guy named Chris, who she flirted with a bit and got everyone laughing. They performed "Lost & Found."
Up next was "Figure 8", where she was wearing black sparkly pants and the black jacket again. Then "On My Mind" and "Ghosts" (at least I think that's what it was called.)
She then said she wrote the next song about freaking out when you first start dating someone, and that was probably my favourite unknown track of hers, called "Don't Panic". Then "Forever And Always", where she performed amazing choreography with her dancers, and kept in time with them.
Then was "I Need Your Love", her other one with Calvin Harris, and the jet-steam machines were used again, although only three of them were working, and by the end of it, only one was I'm pretty sure they just stopped using them after that, or maybe it was deliberate, I dunno. She'd removed the black jacket and was wearing a black jumpsuit (She likes sparkly black, other than the white dress!)
She then stopped singing and said that normally now was the part of the show where she told the crowd to stop using their phones, but she said she didn't notice that many of us using them (meanwhile, I was on mine constantly lol). She said that maybe she's getting old, and it's much better to see a concert live in the flesh, but if people wanted to see it on their phones to just go on Youtube. Haha, right on girl! Justin Bieber did the same thing at his concert I remember. It must be a bit frustrating for artists to look out over a crowd and see everyone looking down or filming them.
She then performed "Burn", which was awesome, and then the music stopped 3/4 of the way through and the crowd went wild in the silence. She then picked up an electric guitar and the song kicked in again in a completely different style. So, so cool.
The concert then ended and the crowd did the usual chanting, waiting for the encore, and she finished with "Anything Could Happen" and, of course, "Love Me Like You Do". Confetti exploded all over the crowd to end the show.
Very cool. She sang absolutely live and had to keep having drinks of water, as she was dancing around a lot also. The last artist who exerted themselves that much that I saw live was probably P!nk. It was definitely worth it, and I really like that venue as well, as it's a short walk from home.
And that's my quick but lame review. Not as detailed as my Mariah one, but meh
