• With Lissie falling out of the Top 40, this week is the first to be made up only of songs that entered in 2016. Why is that worth noting? The first chart in January was the first chart as a Top 40, condensed from the full Top 100. Lissie’s chart run of 24 weeks included weeks before it entered the Top 40 - two to be exact. Of its 24 weeks on the chart, 22 were in the Top 40. Now that her hit is out, this is the first week when the “weeks on” column represents only weeks in the Top 40 for all 40 songs.
• 6 weeks at #1 is enough to put Boyfriend by Tegan and Sara in the record books for Most Weeks at #1 for a duo or group. Boyfriend is in a 6-way tie for fourth longest running #1 for a duo or group. Other songs by a group to spend six weeks at #1 is Hate Me by Blue October, Not Ready To Make Nice by the Dixie Chicks, We Are Young and Why Am I The One by fun, and Shine by Years & Years. Ahead of them with 8 weeks at #1 is Carry On by fun. With 11 weeks at #1 is Tegan and Sara’s biggest hit The Con, which is in second place, while the song holding the record for 13 years is Bright Lights by Matchbox Twenty, which spent 13 weeks at #1 in 2003.
