geocities.com/themakshackThe Hot 30 is back after another a six-week hiatus... I'm still accepting link submissions! By the way, I have a dilemma... would the number one song this week have spent only 2 weeks at #1 or 8 weeks at #1 - If you don't know what I mean... please see the post made by David back in September regarding the issue ( freakyflybry.proboards2.com/index.cgi?board=personalcharts&action=display&n=1&thread=4860) It will be great if you guys can make sure that the numbers on the Weeks On column are appropriate/fair. Thanks. P.S. I don't think anyone has ever put my #2 song this week that high on their charts... Lalala...

If you haven't made a chart in those six weeks, you should just rename the "weeks on" column to "charts on" or something. That way, your #1 song now would have been #1 for a total of 2 charts instead of 8 weeks because you don't know for sure what happened in those 6 weeks.

Thank you for that great suggestion. Everybody agrees right? Sorry, but I cast a dissenting vote! Although we technically don't know what happened in those 6 weeks, we can imagine that your chart stayed frozen during that time. I'd rather see you credit the song with 8 weeks at #1 since it is a better indicator of LONGEVITY at the top of your "favorite songs to hum" list. However, the final decision has to rest with you; it's your chart, and you have to call the shots. Besides, the other day you asked me for a suggestion for a song to chart, and you knocked me down cold. So ... I won't be offended if you go with something other than my suggested remedy for the "how many weeks" dilemma!

Besides, the other day you asked me for a suggestion for a song to chart, and you knocked me down cold. So ... I won't be offended if you go with something other than my suggested remedy for the "how many weeks" dilemma! First part: Ha, ha, ha... very funny... as if I don't know the lyrics to the songs... Second part: I like both of the suggestions made by Mike and David. However, I don't like that the sound of ''Charts on''... I was thinking of something like ''Issues on'' or something, referring to the number of issues of charts... but then it is quite unfair for other songs which have a relatively shorter life... For example, a song that debuted on my chart on 09/18, and then fell off the chart this week... would I count that song as being on for 7 weeks or just 1 week? It's unfair to that I give all those songs that debuted onm 08/18 7 weeks... For another example, take Sheryl Crow, she was number 2 on the chart for the week 09/18. I don't think it sounds right saying that her song has peaked at #2 for 7 weeks or something when in reality it might not have happened if the charts were in fact not frozen... Ahhhhh... Do I really have to go Issue number or Chart number now? Damn it... What's another phrase that can replace ''Weeks on''? ''Issues on''? Man, my chart is so f*cked up... I hate this inconsistency... but I am not willing to start all over again... Or should I just get rid of the ''Weeks On'' thing altogether? But then I do want to keep track of the performances of the songs on my chart...

But then I do want to keep track of the performances of the songs on my chart... Consistency is the key ... whether it's going to the gym, eating right, studying for exams, balancing your checkbook, or ... posting a personal songs chart! What to do should not be a stress-inducer, Kevin. After all, isn't creating and sharing a personal chart supposed to be an ENJOYABLE and RELAXING way to tell others what you enjoy listening to at the moment? Go with a decision, and stay consistent with it, and focus your energy on other, more-pressing problems ... like what to get me for Christmas.
