Katy Perry is stopping in Florida three times during her Prism tour this summer - Tampa, Sunrise, and Miami. I'm a big fan of her music and own and enjoy all three of her albums. I was thinking about texting one of my friends and asking them if they were interested in going, but I am hesitant. Why? I've heard from several people that she's shit live and she even sings off-key. I'm very careful with the people I choose to go see live, because this isn't 1982 when you can go see Van Halen for $10 (unfortunately ). It costs a lot of money - the tickets, the parking, you get charged for everything. So I want to get my money's worth. Should I see Katy live, or is it true that she sings off-key Neil Sedaka-style live? ( FreakyFlyBry will get the Sedaka joke )

There was no "Dear god no!" option, so I just had to pick regular no. I've also heard that she sucks live, not that I've ever seen her or would, but yeah. It would cost a lot of money, and even though you might have a fun night, it would possibly be in spite of her singing. You may as well save it for someone who will deliver.

Since we have access to youtube these days, we have the ability to look up a bunch of live performances and decide from there. From what I've seen of her live stuff, she is very below-average, and there was of course that lip-sync thing that happened in France last month, so the amounf of money a Katy Perry ticket would cost seems kinda sketchy.
But yeah I'd suggest looking up youtube performances, and be sure to compare officially recorded performances with the raw performances people record from their cellphones. It's important to check both because the official ones that the label or VEVO will post are often misleading as to what an artist actually sounds like. Cellphone/video camera recordings are generally of poor quality however you get an accurate perception of what an artist sounds like live.

Katy doesn't always take the time to sing the good way. I saw some videos of her like she didn't give a damn. But, I saw her in a show in 2011, with Promusik, on her Teenage Dream tour and she gave a great show! It was entertaining, she sang live with playbacks and it sounded good. So if you enjoy her stuff so far, I would really suggest you to see her Take a look here, one of my favorite song of the show, Hot N Cold : And the gurl can sing, she does an acoustic version, playing the guitar too, on Thinking Of You (the song starts at 4:00) : Enjoy! EDIT : Oh! I found a good version of an acoustic song she makes live too : The One That Got Away (she didn't sing it in Montreal, we learnt later she couldn't sing the song at all, she was breaking up with her husband at that moment)

yes it was a very good show and I'm sure her second tour will be better with her grownup experience. My friend knows a contact to meet her and do a ride in limousine with her next july in Montreal...I wish it happens god! if you like what you see in this video then go to the show:
