DO NOT ADJUST YOUR VISION: I assure you, you're reading #18 quite correctly.
A RECORD TIE IS BROKEN: Avril Lavigne goes 9 weeks on top. This breaks not only the consecutive weeks at #1 record, but also the overall weeks at #1 record, which last week was a 5-way tie.
OUTLOOK FOR THE TOP: Taking a look at the Top 10, I thought it appropriate to predict what could happen with regards to who can hit #1 and who cannot.
First and foremost, Linkin Park and Black Eyed Peas have lost their bullets and are thus pretty much out of the running. For BEP, this is most unfortunate, as this marks the second time they've been denied #1 by Avril. ("Hey Mama" had hit #1 for a week before "Don't Tell Me" did, and DTM prevented a return trip.)
New to the Top 10 this week is Green Day. It would be too soon to tell for sure at this point, but I wouldn't rule them out. Give them time and they could pull it off.
Switchfoot are faring decently, but not overly impressive. I'd say a Top 5 prediction is more realistic here.
Almost the same story with Jem, except like Green Day, give her time and she could pull it off.
I'm not too sure about Seether - what I foresee happening is being blocked by one or more others.
Ryan Cabrera is close to peaking, and since he just got passed by Kelly Clarkson this week, I'd say he's pretty much cooked as far as #1 goes.
Bowling For Soup will likely very shortly find themselves in a bitter feud with Kelly Clarkson over #1. She looks very likely to end Avril's long reign next week, and BFS are showing no signs of stopping anytime soon.
As for Avril, I'd say this is her last week on top. Kelly's bound and determined to take it next week.
