This was the year where rock formats finally surpassed Hot AC as my favorite stuff to listen to. 1. Rise Above This 2. Fake It 3. Psycho 4. Believe 5. Pork And Beans 6. You're Gonna Go Far, Kid 7. Long Road To Ruin 8. Viva La Vida What do you know...actual rock songs hitting #1 on a rock format!

Yeah, it sure is a stark contrast to today's indie-loving alternative chart!

Somehow this year managed to have two of the worst Alt #1s of all time.

1. Psycho (Puddle of Mudd's best song. The amount of hate this gets on the internet is shocking to me, as it's actually quite unique and awesome) 2. Fake It 3. Long Road To Ruin 4. You're Gonna Go Far, Kid 5. Pork And Beans ---------------------- <-- The line that separates "great" from "good" 6. Rise Above This 7. Viva La Vida (Hands down Coldplay's most overrated single) ---------------------- <-- The line of mediocrity 8. Believe

Believe Well, at least we can agree that "Believe" is one of the biggest turds of a song ever written.

From a literal standpoint the song is alright, and was good enough to crack the top 40 on my personal chart (though I think it only got to #37 or #38). From a comparative standpoint however, the song is definitely a giant turd, as Staind has produced so many phenomenal songs. Their 3 CHR crossovers really put it to shame. By no means whatsoever did it deserve to go #1 on alternative.

By no means whatsoever did it deserve to go #1 on alternative. It's the sound of a band not caring. I used to think that sound was epitomized by The Tragically Hip's "Ahead by a Century" but this outdoes it by miles. When you listen to "Mudshovel" or even "Not Again" it's like, wow, is this the same band?

Got to #3 for me, and I thought that was a huge underachiever on both alt and active. "The Illusion Of Progress" is their only album to date though where I haven't loved at least 2 singles though haha.

And I agree, the other singles just fall flat and live up to the name of the album.

LOL I like "Believe".
But yeah, the Alt charts are TERRIBLE now. There used to be plenty of tunes at #1 that I liked (aside from the Foo's, I also like the songs from Staind, Offspring, and the Weezer/Seether songs are ok), now every song that goes to #1 I hate :/
