JESSIELOU'S TOP 100 HOT 100 #1'S COUNTDOWNInspired by a similar list by a Pulse member, I have decided to make a list of my top 100 favorite Hot 100 #1's. I have to say, for a chart I've constantly bitched about for the last ten years, this was actually a very tough list to make. I'm not gonna lie - most of the songs that made it were 80's and 90's but some stuff from the 2000's made it in! I'll post the first set either tonight or tomorrow so STAY TUNED BROTHAS!

100. Foreigner – I Want To Know What Love Is (1985)As a Foreigner stan, the fact that their only hot 100 #1 is so low on here is probably going to come as a shock to many. I love this song, I really do, but of all their songs, this is the one that got to #1? I'm more into their rockier songs like “Jukebox Hero” and “Break It Up” and “Urgent”, which to me were more deserving of #1. Or even Wf*gLY (thanks Olivia Newton John ). Nonetheless though, this is a fantastic song and Lou Gramm's vocals on this are flawless as usual, but I would not rank this among my top five favorites from Foreigner. 99. Men At Work – Down Under (1983)VEGAMITE SANDWICH! An 80's classic that I always loved. But even though this is Men At Work's signature song, there is actually another song from them that I like more… 98. Men At Work – Who Can It Be Now? (1982)For some reason I always really liked the saxophone in this. I don't know it just added something to the song to me. This is my favorite from them and one of my favorite songs from 1982. 97. Destiny's Child – Say My Name (1999)The first #1 hit on this list that I was actually around for. I definitely remember how huge this was. MTV played the hell out of this. I remember when I saw the video for the first time I thought it was so cool that the colors of their outfits matched the color of the walls (I was in elementary school at the time, I was easily amused ). They have one more song still to come. Also, quick side-note, I want Beyonce's hat in that photo. 96. Skanks Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mya, & Pink – Lady Marmalade (2001)I actually remember when Mike first told me about this collaboration shortly before it premiered, although he heard Missy Elliott was going to be doing the rap part rather than Lil' Kim. Although I was always a huge fan of this song, some other people in my family weren't - I was watching the video for this on MTV one day shortly after it came out and my Dad came into my room asking me what I wanted for dinner and when he saw I was watching this he made me change the channel to Nickelodeon. I gotta say though, looking back Christina really did shed her good girl image a little too fast, but hey, I still love her! ;D Christina has three more appearances on the list, whereas the others never appear again. Coming up on ~THE NEXT EPISODE~ [/drdre]95. The first of four appearances from one of the most successful rock bands of all-time, and also one of my personal favorites. Their frontman is also quite attractive. 94. This 60's band made a huge comeback in the mid-80's, scoring three #1 hits. One of those #1's is at #94. 93. Even though this song was made for a flop TV show in the early 90's, this song ended up becoming a huge hit. 92. It's not very often that Billboard agrees with my chart, but this song not only ended up being #1 on their year-end chart, but it also ended up being #1 on mine. 91. Before the indie whores Fun and Gotye started dominating the charts this year, the year looked very promising with this flawless song reaching #1.

All great songs there ;D Sadly, the saxophone player on the Men At Work song died earlier this year Somehow I'm not surprised about no other songs from the non-Christina Skanks appear (as out of the others, I think only Pink had more #1's and I know you aren't a fan of those, especially not "Raise Your Glass" which you hate). Is #95 a Bon Jovi song? Is #94 Jefferson Airplane Jefferson Starship Starship? Is #93 "How Do You Talk To An Angel" by The Heights? Is #92 "Rolling In The Deep" by Adele? Is #91 "What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger)" by Kelly Clarkson?

95. Bon Jovi – I’ll Be There For You (1989)I absolutely love this song, as I do with every other Bon Jovi song that isn’t country. Out of their four #1 hits though, this one ranks the lowest. 94. Starship – Sara (1986)“We Built This City” barely missed the list, and “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” is still to come, but their second #1 smash comes in here at #94! I remember on the very first American Top 40 Flashback I listened to, this was #2 behind Mr. Mister’s “Kyrie” (which is also still to come). Always was a fan of this one, one of my favorite Starship songs. 93. The Heights – How Do You Talk To An Angel? (1992)A lot of people think this song is really cheesy, but I don’t care - I love it. I’m a HUGE sucker for 80’s/90’s power ballads. 92. Adele – Rolling In The Deep (2011)What can I say about this woman that hasn’t been said? Slaydele. Adelegend. Godele. Awesomehead. My girl crush, etc. I actually never heard this song until May of last year, and when I first heard it, I thought it was just okay. When it made my chart I didn’t think it would go any higher than around #15, but it ended up spending three weeks at #1 and placing as my #1 song of 2011. I love it – it’s angry and fierce just how I like my solo female artists! ;D A modern day classic tbh. 91. Adele – Set Fire To The Rain (2012)My absolute favorite Adele song EVER. While I will admit that “Rolling In The Deep” and “Someone Like You” weren’t instant for me, this one was. This not only spent 11 smashing weeks at #1 on my chart, but it is currently in it’s 46th week on my chart and is looking like it’s going to be the first song on my chart to spend a year on there. I’m not even going to bother being suspenseful because we all know she’s going to do it. But yeah, this song is flawless. The end. COMING UPPPP [/paulmccartney]90. This group ended up replacing themselves at #1 with this song, and was the first act to do so since The Beatles. 89. This song was based on a poem that was written by one of the members of this group. 88. Two words: Charlie’s Angels. 87. A duet between a singer that John stans for and… the less said about the other artist, the better. 86. Although this song was recorded for one of her movies, the soundtrack to said movie did not feature this song.

I like all five of those to some extent. I do agree that Bon Jovi's other #1's were better though. Surprised Adele wasn't higher! Is #90 Boyz II Men "On Bended Knee"? Is #88 Destiny's Child "Independent Women? Is #87 Celine Dion & R. Kelly "I'm Your Angel"?
