WHY DOES THIS MAKE ME THINK BACK TO A BIG TOP 20 HIT FROM LAST YEAR? Usher's "Burn" comes rocketing into the chart this week with a #12 debut. His efforts to get a Top 10 debut were denied by 1) Not being able to pass Hilary Duff. 2) Switchfoot having a big week and jumping 15-10. All the same, I'm expecting "Burn" to rise rather quickly - and as a result, this is making me think back to none other than last year's Top Song of 2003 - " Don't Wanna Try". Why is this?
HERE'S WHY: DWT started its run with a high (record-setting!) debut. So has Burn. DWT actually had had to wait a week before making the chart, thanks to "Intuition". So did Burn, thanks to " Don't Tell Me". Both songs are heart-wrenching break-up ballads. I could go on - but I think I've made my point: I expect "Burn" to go on to be if nothing else, a big Top 20 hit.
