On the Horizon:
Alanis Morissette Everything
«» Been listening to this a lot since I got it. A really great song, though not really catchy as her last big hit on my chart (Hands Clean).
Incubus Talk Shows On Mute
«» There isn't a word to say how great this song is. The lyrics are really awesome, and it's just - well, a great song. I'm glad they chose to release this.
Sarah McLachlan Stupid
«» Don't really know why "Fallen" never charted. It was a great song, I guess I heard it too late, and even then I didn't hear it often enough. This song is as good as "Fallen," and the video is one of the most interesting ones so far this year.
The Offspring Can't Get My Head Around You
«» Heard this recently... pretty good. Not much else to say.
Thornley So Far So Good
«» Found this band recently and heard this song. Good mainstream rock, though it doesn't especially stand out when grouped with other rock songs out today.
Chart Commentary:
Lostprophets are again the #1 song, this week. "Make a Move" is the next single, though the song title has been changed to "Wake Up (Make a Move)." That'll probably make the chart soon. 311 break the top five. When I first heard the song, I didn't expect it to be this successful. Yellowcard finally breaks its #14 curse, and rises two spots to #12, following the fall of both of Jet's singles. "AYGBMG?" tumbles 12 - 15, and "CHB" has a backwards bullet 11-13.
Once again, the area between #15 and #30 is dull, full of slow-falling songs, with several bulleted songs interspersed between. Alicia Keys and Linkin Park both jump to #20 and #21. Patty Loveless continues her surprising run up the chart. And Jay-Z snags Greatest Gainer with "Dirt Off Ya Shoulder" rising eight spots to #27. Evanescence and Avril Lavigne have commendable bullets in the bottom quarter of the chart.
This week four new songs debut. The highest is Hoobastank with "The Reason," entering at #33. Seether's single off of the 'Punisher' Soundtrack, "Broken," which features Amy Lee, enters at #37. Against my better judgement, D12 enter at #38. The song borders on catchy and annoying, I feel differently each I hear it. The video is kind of funny, so I guess that was the deciding factor that got it debuted. Linkin Park debuts at #40.
