Week 336 – August 5^th, 2017

What interests me my chatter from yesterday? Last week I wrote that it will be hard for Carly Rae Jepsen to reach her 1st #1 on my chart and that there will be a better chance for Kate Voegele. So this week Carly Rae Jepsen did the final step and reached her first #1 with “Cut to the feeling”. This cute song definitely deserves to be at #1 which is the 17th this year in the 31st week. Kate Voegele’s “Don’t count me out” (#2) is also up one spot and now in the runner’s up position. Because of these two climbers last week’s #1 “Greatest lovers” (#3) by Luke Sital-Singh dropped two spots. Back in my Top 5 is Portuguese singer Aurea for the first time in years. Her album cut “Killer” (#4) climbed up two spots. Could it be that “Killer” will be her 2nd #1 on my chart? Her one and only #1 had been “OK, alright” back in 2011. Still in the Top 5 is Lady Gaga with “The cure” (#5).

Also down one spot is “Unendlich gleich” (#6, “Infinitely the same”) by Tagtraeumer & Chrissi Klug. This week they released the next promo single and finally their 2nd album “Unendlich eins” (“Infinitely one”). Directly behind this Austrian song there is the next song by Kate Voegele. With “World stops spinning” (#7) she climbed up four spots to reach the Top 10 in its 9th week on chart. “World stops spinning” is the only new track within my Top 10. This new song is followed by another track by Luke Sital-Singh. “Nothing stays the same” (#8) climbed up one spot. On the other side former #1’s “There’s nothing holdin’ me back” (#9) by Shawn Mendes and “Nur ein Herzschlag entfernt” (#10, “Only a heartbeat away”) by Wincent Weiss dropped two spots.

This week sees an amazing 19 debuts, but only one song reached a debut within in my Top 50. And who else could it be than Austrian band Tagtraeumer in these days. They released their 2nd promo single “Himmelblaue Couch” (#33, “Sky blue couch”) some days before they released their new album. “Himmelblaue Couch” is another big song from this band. This song is about a guy who is still dreaming about the life in a new home with the sky blue couch with the girl of his dreams. But the separated their ways and she now has a home with another man, but no sky blue couch. This song is brilliant written and should join my Top 20 soon. There their other promo single “Straßenlaternen” (#12, “Street lights”) is knocking at the door to the Top 10.

The next best debut is by Madeline Juno. With her song “Stupid girl” (#29) she is still climbing up my chart, but this week she debuts with her first song in German. “Gift” (#61, “Poison”) has nearly the same theme as my former #1 “Wasn’t easy” (#26) by GJan. Over the last year Madeline Juno has released several songs in German, but “Gift” is her first one reaching my chart. Directly behind Madeline Juno there are two promo singles by Jillette Johnson are debuting. These singles are “Flip a coin” (#62) and “Bunny” (#63). Last Friday she released her 2nd album “All I ever see in you is me”. While I absolutely love her debut album “Water in a whale” this one is very different. The whole album is stripped down to her voice and little instrumentation. Right at the moment I’m not sure if this album will work as good as “Water in a whale” for me, but over the last week “Love is blind” (#17) reached my most played songs easily. So maybe this album will produce some more hits for me.

I think you mean #7 instead of #4 for "World Stops Spinning" but still, that is an impressive leap into the Top 10. I've been giving "Canyonlands" a bit of a listen over this past week and finding her latest music very catchy, but surprisingly she's nowhere to be seen on my chart since "Must Be Summertime," which was her biggest hit for me since "Only Fooling Myself".

Nice to see Norma Jean Martine's "Still In Love With You" up to #11. I gave a few of her songs a listen and that one is still by far my favourite. I think it may even get a debut from me. I find it a beautiful track.

Week 337 – August 12^th, 2017

It only lasted one week and now “Cut to the feeling” (#2) by Carley Rae Jepsen dropped one spot. This song was replaced at the top with “Don’t count on me” (#1) by Kate Voegele. For her this is her 5th #1 on my chart and the first on since “Carousel” back in 2015. Kate Voegele is definitely on fire, because of the fact that “World stops spinning” (#4) sprinted into my Top 5 with a three spot climb. Caught between these songs is “Killer” (#3) by Portuguese singer Aurea. “Killer” is a very good song and should have been a regular single, but maybe she will release it in the future. The Top 5 is rounded out with the former #1 “Greatest lovers” (#5) by British singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh.

The 2nd part of my Top 10 sees three new songs. The highest of these new songs is by Norma Jean Martine. I definitely love her single “Still in love with you” (#6) when I first saw the video on youtube. Since these days she had four chart entries and now this song is on its way into my Top 5. It is such a shame that this song is nowhere, but on my chart she has a real good chance to get a #1 with this song. Next in line is former #1 “The cure” (#7) by Lady Gaga which dropped two spots. Then there is Austrian band Tagtraeumer. This week they replaced their Top 10 hit “Unendlich gleich” (#12, “Infinitely equal”) with Chrissi Klug with the 2nd official single “Straßenlaternen” (#8, “Street lights”). Still in my Top 10 is Shawn Mendes with “There’s nothing holdin’ me back” (#9) which probably will drop out by next week. The third and last new song in my Top 10 is “Love is blind” (#10) by Jillette Johnson. Her new album “All I ever see in you is me” isn’t as good as her debut album, but “Love is blind” is her 1st Top 10 smash out of this album. This is possibly no #1 song, but still a good song.

After a week with more than ten new entries this week is rather calm. The greatest gainer of the week is “Poor me” (#61) by Shania Twain with a 19 spot climb. This is definitely the biggest news, because of the fact that there are only seven new entries. The highest two debuts are album cuts by Leslie Clio from her album “Purple”. “Lies are gold” (#79) and “Game changer” (#78) debuted outside the Top 70 which isn’t remarkable. The highest official single debut is by New Zealand singer Lorde. Her new one “Perfect places” came in at #86. Other debuts are “Tired of talking” (#90) by LÉON, “Poster child” (#91) by Jo Smith, “Every little thing” (#92) by Carly Pearce and “Love me more” (#93) by Maggie Rose.

Week 338 – August 19^th, 2017

For a 2nd week Kate Voegele is topping my chart with “Don’t count on me” (#1). Kate Voegele is the first of three artists who have now two Top 10 hits. This is the first time in history when this happens. Her other Top 10 hit “World stops spinning” (#5) dropped one spot. The 2nd “Top 10 twin” is Aurea. Her song “Killer” (#2) is now in the runner’s-up position and could be her 2nd #1 on my chart and the first since six years. Her other Top 10 is “Blind woman” (#8) which climbed up six spots to get its first week in this part of my chart. And the last but not least “Top 10 twin” is Norma Jean Martine. She is at #3 with “Still in love with you” and at #9 “I want you to want me”. “Still in love with you” is fighting for #1 over the next weeks and this one would be her first one. “I want you to want me” reached its first week in the Top 10 after a climb of six spots.

Beside these “Top 10 twins” there is a drop of Carly Rae Jepsen's former chart topper “Cut to feeling” (#4) which dropped two spots. Then there is “Straßenlaternen” (#6) by Tagtraeumer. This song climbed up two spots and is knocking to the door to the Top 5. Down two spots is Luke Sital-Singh with “Greatest lovers” (#7). Back in this part of my chart is Selena Gomez with “Nobody” (#10). “Nobody” is an album cut from “Revival”. While this song is now in my Top 10 her latest non-album singles “Bad liar” and “Fetish” are waiting for a debut.

Speaking about debuts bring me to this weeks new songs. All in all there are 16 debuts. The highest debut is by Pink. She returns with “What about us” (#41). This song isn’t really pop/rock oriented. It is more in the dance direction which is popular at the moment. I like this song, but for me she had better songs in her repertoire. So “What about us” got a solid debut and the future will show where the journey will end. Pink is followed by Austrian singer JackTheBusch. He had released his debut album “So is Leben” (#So life is”) back in 2015. No song from this album found its way to my chart. Two months ago he released his new song “Blinder Passagier” (#42, “Blind passenger”). I’ve not heard this song until this week when it was played on my favourite radio station. I really like this dialect song and so it shoots straight into my Top 50 and brings him his chart debut.

Two more songs got their debut in my Top 50. First to mention is the new song by Kungs. Last year Kungs had a Top 20 hit with “This girl”. The new song is “More mess” (#49) where Olly Murs and Coely were featured. “More mess” isn’t bad, but I doubt that this song will reach the same spheres as “This girl”. The other one is “Bout you” (#48) by Xuitcasecity. They are a pop/hip hop duo from Tampa (Florida). Normally this is not the kind of music I’m listing, but with “Bout you” they have a song in their pocket which brought them easily into my Top 50. I’ve listened to their other singles too and I’m sure that at least one of these songs will be found on my chart in the future.

Week 339 – August 26^th, 2017

August is ending and I’ve a new #1. For the first time since April 2011 Portuguese singer Aurea reached my top spot with “Killer” (#1). In 2011 she topped the chart with “OK, alright” for two weeks. “Killer” is a worthy follow up as #1. Aurea also breaks the record for the longest time between #1’s. New in the runner’s-up position is US singer Norma Jean Martine. Her love song “Still in love with you” (#2) climbed up one spot and is attacking the #1. While these two songs climbed up last week’s #1 “Don’t count me out” (#3) by my core artist Kate Voegele dropped two spots. Also putting the #1 under pressure are Austrian band Tagtraeumer. Their single “Straßenlaternen” (#4, “Street lights”) reached a spot in my Top 5 after a two spot climb. Down one spot is Carly Rae Jepsen with “Cut to the feeling” (#5).

The 2nd part of my Top 10 is opened with another song by Kate Voegele. “World stops spinning” (#6) left the Top 5 after two weeks. Kate Voegele is followed by Aurea who also has two songs in my Top 10. “Blind woman” (#7) climbed up one spot. Both artists are followed by the last but not least “Top 10 twin”. “I want you to want me” (#8) by Norma Jean Martine rose one spot. The next rising song in my Top 10 is “Nobody” (#9) by Selena Gomez. “Greatest lovers” (#10) by British singer-songwriter Luke Sital-Singh is rounding out this week’s Top 10.

Week 339 sees little action. Two songs share the award of the greatest gainer of the week which they got after a climb of 13 spots. These songs are “Gift” (#31) by Madeline Juno and “Caught in the middle” (#56) by Anastacia. The highest new entry is the album cut “Colored outside the lines” (#76) by MisterWives. Week 340 – September 2^nd, 2017

Looking out of the window makes me blue. The rain drops are falling down and the summer sun is seen nowhere. Where have all the summer days gone? One week to go and another school year is starting. This is awesome because I see my students and colleagues again. The summer holidays are ending next week and this week sees a new #1. It is the 20th #1 in 2017 so far. I just looked over my history book and I found out that only in 2012 (22 #1’s) and 2013 (24 #’s) I had more #1’s than this year. It seems that I’m gonna break this record easily because in these years I had at least four new different #1’s from September to December. It 2014 it had been eight which mean that I could have between 24 and 28 #1 songs this year which is absolutely unbelievable.

But which song replaced “Killer” (#3) by Aurea after one week? Taylor Swift would be an interesting choice because she has released her new single. No, but no she didn’t debut at #1 which could have been the sixth #1 debut since 2011 and her first #1 debut. So this leaves back the usual suspects. I don’t want to make it too exciting. US singer Norma Jean Martine got her first #1 with “Still in love with you” (#1). She climbed up one spot. New at the runner’s up spot is the other usual suspect. Austrian band Tagtraeumer reached this spot after a climb of two spots with “Straßenlaternen” (#2, “Street lights”). Then there is former #1 “Don’t count me out” (#4) by Kate Voegele

These songs are followed by the highest new entry. Taylor Swift easily debuted within my Top 10 with her new single “Look what you made me do” (#5). This song is from her upcoming new album “Reputation” which will definitely the 3rd album I’m going to buy when it will be released. The first album I bought from her had been “Red” in 2012. The lead single had been “We are never ever getting back together”. This song debuted at #27 on the 1st September 2012 and reached my Top 10 a week later. “We are never ever getting back together” topped my chart for two weeks in October 2012. Her next album had been “1989” and the lead single “Shake it off”. “Shake it off” did a little bit better in its first week and debuted at #26 on the 30th August 2014. Three weeks later this song reached my Top 10 and in November 2014 it topped my chart for a single week. Three years later “Look what you made me do” put every other lead single from her in the shadow which makes me believe that this could be the song from her which stays more than two weeks at the top.

The 2nd part of my Top 10 is opened with “Blind woman” (#6) by Aurea. Next in line is former #1 “Cut to the feeling” (#7) by Carly Rae Jepsen. Then US band Cold War Kids are back in my Top 10. Their collaboration with singer Bishop Briggs brought them back. “So tied up” (#8) climbed up five spots. “Nobody” (#9) is holding its spot in its eight week on chart. And last but not least Tagtraeumer got another Top 10 hit with “Himmelblaue Couch” (#10, “Sky blue couch”).

Beside the Taylor Swift debut within my Top 10 this week is low on highlights. The greatest gainer of the week is “Hate me” (#26) by Jillian Jacqueline. For her “Hate me” could be the first Top 20 hit on my chart. The 2nd highest debut is by Canadian band Hedley. They are regular guests on my chart, but the big hit is still missing. “Better days” (#53) is a good song, but I doubt that this song is the missing master peace. The next debuts are by Anouk. The album cuts I’m debuting are “There he goes” (#56), “Blue motel” (#57) and “Waste your water” (#59). The only other debut is by Taylor Hilton with “Overtime” (#86).

Week 341 – September 9^th, 2017

Last week Taylor Swift surprised with a big debut. This week she made another big step, but “Look what you made me do” (#2) failed to reach #1. Certainly Norma Jean Martine lost the top spot after one week. “Still in love with you” (#3) dropped two spots. So the way was free for the first Austrian #1 this year. Tagtraeumer reached the summit with “Straßenlaternen” (#1, “Street lights”). It’s the bands first #1 since “Nichts” (“Nothing”) back in December 2015 and their 5th overall. On #4 you can find the former #1 “Killer” by Portuguese singer Aurea. The Top 5 rounding out are the well known Cold War Kids. Their song “So tied up” (#5) with Bishop Briggs climbed up three spots and could be the bands 2nd #1 hit this year, but Taylor Swift and Tagtraeumer have very strong songs out and so it will definitely be a tough decision.

The 2nd part of my Top 10 starts with another song by Tagtraeumer. Their single “Himmelblaue Couch” (#6, “Sky blue couch” ) sprinted up four spots. By next week they could have two Top 5 hits. Next in line is “Don’t count me out” (#7) by Kate Voegele. This song is followed by Aurea’s 2nd song in my Top 10. “Blind woman” (#8) dropped two spots. Also down two spots is “Cut to the feeling” (#9) by Carly Rae Jepsen. Here I’m still asking myself when the world is making this song a super hit. It’s definitely a shame that she will always be reduced to “Call me maybe”. Up four spots and into the Top 10 is Madeline Juno with “Gift” (#10). It’s her first song in German reaching this part of my chart and it is absolutely possible that “Gift” will outperform her biggest chart hit “Vertigo” (peaked at #8 back in January 2015). Since two weeks she has another single out. “Halt mich fest” (“Hold me tight”) is a very reduced song, but during the whole song autotune is used and so this song is in my eyes crap.

Looking over my chart this week you'll find out that the 2nd tranche of songs of Luke Sital-Singh’s 2014 album “The fire inside” is giving its debut including this weeks highest debut. “21st century heartbeat” (#51) just failed to enter my Top 50. This will surely happen next week. And he placed another song directly behind. “We don’t belong” (#52) the other strong song from this debuts. His other debuts are “Everything is making you” (#66), “Lilywhite” (#81), “Nearly morning” (#85) and “I have been a fire” (’87). The best debut from an artist who isn’t Luke Sital-Singh is by British superstar Ed Sheeran. His latest single “Perfect” (#63) got a solid debut. Other debuts are “Herzschlag” (#64) by Jones, “Please don’t lie” (#65) by Hugo Helmig and “Selfish love” (#90) by Jessie Ware.

Week 342 – September 16^th, 2017

Taylor Swift only waited two weeks before reaching #1 with “Look what you made me do” in its 3rd week on chart. She replaced Austrian band Tagtraeumer who stayed at the top for only one week with “Straßenlaternen” (#2, “Street lights”). While “Straßenlaternen” dropped one spot Tagtraeumer have now two songs in my Top 5. They climbed up two spots with their recent hit “Himmelblaue Couch” (#4, “Sky blue couch”). Between these Tagtraeumer songs and new at the podium is “So tied up” (#3) by Cold War Kids feat. Bishop Briggs. I like this song a lot and it is definitely worth for #1. We will see if Cold War Kids could replace Taylor Swift at the top to grab the bands 2nd #1 hit. While this song is now in my Top 3 former #1 “Still in love with you” (#5) by Norma Jean Martine dropped two spots.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened by another former #1. Portuguese singer Aurea dropped two spots with “Killer” (#6) which is definitely her best song in years. And I absolutely love her recent album “Restart” which is giving her at the moment two Top 10 hits. Her other song in the Top 10 is “Blind woman” (#10) which also dropped two spots. Between these songs is “Gift” (#7, “Poison”) by Madeline Juno. I’m enjoying this song more and more with every listen. So expect this song for reaching my Top 5 by next week. Then there is Kate Voegele. Her latest #1 “Don’t count me out” (#8) dropped one spot and is on its way out of this part of my chart, but don’t be sad, because she is debuting with two songs this week. And last but not least Cold War Kids are now in my Top 10 with a 2nd song from their album “LA Devine”. “Restless” (#8) did well this week with a three spot climb.

You can find the highest debut just outside my Top 30. It is by a well known artist who had six #1’s since 2011. Of course I’m writing about Kelly Clarkson. Her 1st single “Love is soft” (#31) from her upcoming new album “Meaning of life” is leading 18 new entries. As most of her songs in the past “Love so soft” is a very good song. Due to fact that the school started this week I hadn’t as much time to listen to music as over the past weeks. This is the reason why she hasn’t debuted higher, but by next week this song should be in my Top 20 at least.

Kelly Clarkson is followed by another well known artist on my chart. I mentioned it before that Kate Voegele is debuting in this edition with two more songs. Her first one is “Catch me on fire” (#33) which is pretty catchy. This song is a sure shot for the Top 10 for me, but the time will show when this song is entering my top songs. Her 2nd debut this week also reached my Top 40. It is “Sun will rise” (#36) which isn’t as energetic as “Catch me on fire”, but Kate Voegele has shown in the past that these songs also have the chance to reach very good spots. So I’m really looking forward how this song will develop. These are my Top 50 entries. Also in my Top 50 is the greatest gainer. This week this award goes to two songs. The higher ranked one is “Drummer boy” (#34) by MisterWives. The other one is “Perfect places” (#45) by Lorde. Both songs climbed up 14 spots.

The next debut is British superstar Sam Smith. He’s well known for his hits “Stay with me”, “Money on my mind” and for the James Bond title track “Writing’s on the wall” as well as for “La la la” where he was featured on the Naughty Boy track. But what have these songs in common? All these songs never debuted on my chart. He’s only chart hit before this week had been “I’m not the only one” (peaked at #38 in 2015) which hadn’t been a big hit in Austria and German. Two and a half year later he debuted with “Too good at goodbyes” (#56). This song has a very good chorus and a remarkable refrain. So it is absolutely possible that this one will outperform “I’m not the only one”.

One spot behind you can find the first hit by French project Klingande on my chart. Back in 2013 they topped the Austrian Top 40 with “Jubel” for three weeks. This week they returned with a cover of the 2011 smash “Pumped up kicks” by Foster The People who recently had their first chart hit with “Sit next to me”. Back in 2011 “Pumped up kicks” failed to enter my chart although I liked the refrain of this song. Now this dance version by Klingande immediately got my attention and “Pumped up” (#57) got a good, but no outstanding debut.

Week 343 – September 23^rd, 2017

Last week Taylor Swift scored her 4th #1 on my chart. This week “Look what you made me do” (#1) defended its title. This song could sit solidified on the throne if there isn’t the duet of the moment. Cold War Kids and Bishop Briggs climbed up one spot with their powerful song “So tied up” (#2) which is maybe the best song from Cold War Kids. Do you remember “Can we hang on?” (#79) which had been my #1 back in July? In the following weeks “So tied up” should replace “Can we hang on?” as the bands biggest charting hit. “So tied up” should be the first duet at #1 since JoJo feat. Wiz Khalifa reached #1 with “F*ck apologies” back in September 2016. New at the podium is Tagtraeumer. You’re right really new in these spheres aren't they. They replace their former #1 “Straßenlaternen” (#4, “Street lights”) with “Himmelblaue Couch” (#3, “Sky blue couch”). And as a third song in German in my Top 5 you can find “Gift” (#5, “Poison”) by Madeline Juno.

The next half of my Top 10 is opened with two former #1’s. “Still in love with you” (#6) by Norma Jean Martine dropped out of my Top 5 by one spot. She is followed by Portuguese singer Aurea. Her former #1 “Killer” (#7) also dropped one spot. Next in line are two new editions to this week’s Top 10. The highest one is by Pink. “What about us” (#8) climbed up four spots. Also up four spots is dialect pop from Austria. JackTheBusch is doing very well with his gem “Blinder Passagier” (#8, “Blind passenger”). “Blinder Passagier” is a very strong song about the end of a relationship. The last but not least song in my Top 10 is “Restless” (#10) by Cold War Kids.

Last week saw 18 new entries with the highest debut by Kelly Clarkson. Her new single “Love so soft” (#18) sprinted up 13 spots and is now in my Top 20. Last week she was followed by Kate Voegele’s “Catch me on fire” (#19). This week Kate Voegele also climbed up 13 spots with this song and so she is still one spot behind. The 18 new songs aren’t topped this week, but when you look over my chart you’ll find another massive 17 debuts. But before I write something about this week’s debuts I’ve to point out that Ed Sheeran climbed up 21 spots with his new single “Perfect” (#39). This song is this week’s greatest gainer.

So let’s hop on this week’s debuts. Back in the 1990’s Eurodance was a big factor in the music industry. Back in 1992 German dance project Snap! had a massive hit with “Rhythm is a dancer” which is among my all time favourites. Now the German producer Alex Christensen who is well known for his work as U 96 and Jasper Forks is going to release his new album “Classical 90’s dance” where he is covering songs from the 1990’s with The Berlin Orchestra. The first single out of this album is Snap!’s “Rhythm is a dancer”. I really like this version which is sung by the winner of the first season of the Voice of Germany Ivy Quainoo. “Rhythm is a dancer” (#40) is the highest new entry.

Another song from the past found its way into my hot new singles of the week. It is a song from the 1980’s. Recently Norwegian band A-ha did a MTV unplugged. While their first single out of this session “This is our home” failed to reach my chart their 1985 smash “The sun always shines on TV” (#48) got its debut in a duet version with Norwegian singer Ingrid Helene Håvik. I really like the voice of Ingrid Helene Håvik and how this song is interpreted. Both “The sun always shines on TV” and “Rhythm is a dancer” should do well on my chart and become the biggest covers since 2011.

Between these two “older” ones there are three more debuts within my Top 50. Taylor Swift is still topping my chart, but with “…Ready for it?” (#44) her next single got its debut. Looking at the debut spot I’m not really ready for this song, but I expect that this song will sprint up the chart in the following weeks. Last week Kelly Clarkson got the highest debut with “Love so soft”. This week she is debuting with the next one from her new album. “Move you” (#45) isn’t as infecting as “Love so soft”, but I’ve to point out the same as for Taylor Swift. This song should be ready for reaching the higher parts of my chart. And I shouldn’t forget former One Direction singer Niall Horan. He had a little chart hit with “Slow hands”. This week he returns with the strong ballad “Too much to ask” (#46). Also between the “older” singles German LEA can be found with her newo one “Leiser” (#47, “Quieter”) where she describes a not working relationship.

But beside these new songs in my Top 50 there are still two more debuts within this part of my chart. The next one is by LOTTE. Earlier this year she had her chart debut with “Auf beiden Beinen” (“On both feets”). This week she returns with her next single from her debut album “Querfeldein” (“Across country”). “Pauken” (#49, “Timpani”) is a quite interesting song and should bring her among my top songs. She is followed by Canadian singer Lights who recently debuted on my chart with “Skydiving”. This week she returns with her recent single “New fears” (#50) which is a very strong song.

Other debuts are “Kokon” (#72, “Cocoon”) by Mister Me, “How could I love you?” (#73) by Little Hours, “Troubled” (#74) by Elephante feat. Deb’s Daughter, “Stranger’s kiss” (#91) by Alex Cameron feat. Angel Olsen, “Too dumb to die” (#93) by Green Day, “Ich glaub daran” (#95, I believe in it”) by Laurenz, “I’m feeling you” (#96) by Rak-Su, “Lose my mind” (#97) by Dean Lewis and “Cameo” (#98) by Sam Tsui.

Week 344 – September 30^th, 2017

The Taylor Swift reign lasted only two weeks. This week “Look what you made me do” (#2) was replaced by Cold War Kids. For them “So tied up” is their 2nd #1 this year following “Can we hang on?” which dropped of this week. “So tied up” is a duet with British singer Bishop Briggs. For her “So tied up” is her first appearance on my chart and with this song she went all the way up to #1. That’s definitely nice for her. Still rounding out the podium are Austrian Tagtraeumer with “Himmelblaue Couch” (#3, “Sky blue couch”). This one is still followed by they bands former #1 “Straßenlaternen” (#4, “Street lights”). In general the Top 5 saw only one change, because of the fact that “Gift” (#5, “Poison”) by Madeline Juno is also holding its spot.

Up two spots is Pink with her latest hit single “What about us” (#6). There is a good chance to see her in my Top 5 by next week. Austrian newcomer JackTheBusch also climbed up two spots with his song “Blinder Passagier” (#7, “Blind passenger”). While these songs did better than last week former #1 “Still in love with you” (#8) by Norma Jean Martine dropped two spots. Norma Jean Martine is followed by the only new artist in this week’s Top 10. Let’s welcome Country singer Jillian Jacqueline for first time in this part of my chart. Her super cool “Hate me” (#9) reached this part after a two spot climb. And last but not least in my Top 10 is former #1 “Killer” (#10) by Aurea.

Over the last weeks you saw more than 30 debuts. This week is rather calm with nine new entries. The highest of these debuts is by British singer Craig David. His new single “Heartline” (#82) is starting its chart run outside the Top 80 which is not very impressive, but who knows maybe these songs are rocking my chart in the near future. Craig David is followed by Demi Lovato’s “Tell me you love me” (#83) as well as by Rhys’ “Too good to be true” (#84). Other debuts are “Gotham City” (#85) by Antje Schomaker, “Miles” (#86) by Phillip Phillips, “Hold me down” (#93) by Katrin Woolverton, “Supercharged” (#94) by Ivy Quainoo, “Hungry” (#98) by Jessie James Decker and “Meerweh” (#99, “Sea sickness”) by Fabian Wegerer.

Week 345 – October 7^th, 2017

October starts like the end of September. Cold War Kids and Bishop Briggs are celebrating “So tied up” (#1) for a 2nd week at the top. So Taylor Swift is once more at the runner’s up spot with “Look what you made me do” (#2). In general the Top 3 didn’t change and therefore Austrian band Tagtraeumer are still at the podium with “Himmelblaue Couch” (#3, “Sky blue couch”). Behind the Top 3 there are two new acts in my Top 5. First to mention is another artist from Austria. With his first charting song JakeTheBusch reached this part of my chart. “Blinder Passagier” (#4, “Blind passenger”) climbed up three spots. This song is followed by Pink. Her latest smash “What about us”(#5) climbed up one spot.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened with another song by Tagtraeumer. Their latest #1 “Straßenlaternen” (#6, “Street lights”) dropped two spots and is definitely on its way out of this part of my chart. Directly behind is the highest charting country song at the moment. Jillian Jacqueline climbed up two spots with her break-up hymn “Hate me” (#7). Next in line is the first of two new songs in my Top 10. Finally Kelly Clarkson returned with the first single from her upcoming album. “Love so softly” (#8) moved up three spots. The other new one is by Kate Voegele. “Catch me on fire” (#12) is surely a song which could bring her the next #1 on my chart. Caught between these songs is “Gift” (#9, “Poison”) by Madeline Juno which dropped four spots.

This week new entries are pretty rare. An indicator for the slowness of this week’s chart is the greatest gainer of the week “Too much to ask” (#31) by Niall Horan which only climbed up 12 spots. So if you’re looking for the highest debut you’ve to dig deep. The first new song is “I feel love inside” (#77) by Aurea.This song just debuted in my Top 80 and is an album cut as “Hold me in your arms” (#78). Three months ago Aurea released a video to “I feel love inside” where she is featuring Enoque, but I’m charting the album version without Enoque. The highest regular single debut is by Corey Harper. He is debuting with an acoustic single version of his regular single “Favorite part of loving you” (#85).

Other debuts are “Dancing through the wreckage” (#93) by Pat Benatar, “Für ewig” (#94, “For always”) by FYN, “Heavy” (#95) by Anne-Marie, “Red earth & pouring rain” (#96) by Bear’s Den, “Like you” (#98) by Bombs Away feat. Elle Vee and “Brave” (#100) by Freedom Fry.

Week 346 – October 14^th, 2017

Cold War Kids and Bishop Briggs are starting one of the longest runs at the top in 2017. Since three weeks they are topping my chart with “So tied up” (#1). This is for me definitely the best duet in 2017 so far. They are followed by Taylor Swift. Her former #1 “Look what you made me do” (#2) is for a third week at the runner’s position. In general the whole Top 3 didn’t change for a third week. So “Himmelblaue couch” (#3, “Sky blue couch”) by Austrian Tagtraeumer can be found at the podium. Behind these songs one more song is holding its spot. “Blinder Passagier” (#4, “Blind passenger”) by JackTheBusch also didn’t move. New in my Top 5 is Kelly Clarkson. “Love so soft” (#5) climbed up three spots.

The 2nd half of my Top 10 is opened by last week’s #5 “What about us” (#6). “Pink is losing one spot, but her new one “Beautiful trauma” should debut very soon. Next in line is another non-mover. It’s the country hit “Hate me” (#7) by Jillian Jacqueline. She is followed by Kate Voegele who is climbing up with “Catch me on fire” (#8). While this song is going up former #1 “Straßenlaternen” (#9, “Street lights”) is dropping three spots. You shouldn’t be too disappointed, because their new single “Pfeile” (“Arrows”) is on its way into my chart. Last but not least is the only new song in this part of my chart. Let’s welcome Luke Sital-Singh with “21st century heartbeat” (#10) which is now his 3rd Top 10 hit out of his 2014 album “The fire inside”.

The greatest gainer of the week is “Please don’t lie” (#36) by Hugo Helmig. The Danish singer climbed up 15 spots with his first charting song. If he could hold his performance over the next weeks this song should definitely be ready for the Top 20. So let’s see how the debuts are doing this week. The highest one is by Fergie. Since years she failed to place a song on my chart. This week she is returning with a promotional song from her 2nd solo album “Double dutchess”. “Save it til morning” (#57) remains me a little bit to her biggest hit “Big girls don’t cry”, but at the moment I don’t think that she will do as well as with this song. So expect a good and not perfect chart run for this song.

The 2nd best new entry is by JP Cooper. He isn’t know for having big hits on my chart, but his new one “She’s on my mind” (#59) could be his breakthrough hit. “She’s is on my mind” is pretty catchy and is exactly that kind of music I really like to listen. Therefore there is a big chance to see this song in my Top 20 in the near future. JP Cooper is leading two new songs. The next one is by Felix Jaehn. His new song “Like a riddle” (#60) is another cooperation with artists I’ve not heard before. But so what! I like this song and it should do well. The other is “Think before I talk” (#61) by Astrid S. I had this song on my radar for several weeks, but it lasted until this week before she got her debut.

So good to see "Please Don't Lie" as your biggest leap. It entered my Top 20 this week also As did your highest debut!

Nice to finally see Astrid S debut. Ooo I have to listen to that new Echosmith. They seem to be releasing a lot in quick succession after the hit that was "Cool Kids".
