It's become impossible to do the old version of the Alternative/Rock Chart because of a lack of contributors and a wide variety in the songs selected. Continuing like this would mean an unstable chart where a contributor leaving or coming back would have a great influence.
So, I thought of a new strategy to make things easier: creating a playlist you can use to rank the songs according to your taste and at the desired frequency (each week or every 2 weeks)
You can rank the songs in the playlist in whatever order you like, even though it doesn't appear on your personal chart. In order to have a decent initial playlist, a mix of several charts was used (Fredz, Metalnow, FreakyFlyBry, Clashy and Beansters). To update the playlist, everyone can suggest up to 4 songs as a new add for the playlist of the following week. Fredz evaluates the ‘rock potential' of the song based on the performance on the rock charts, the performance on your own chart, if you are a core Rock contributor and if the song is current and not recurrent.
Each artist/band can only have 2 singles on the current playlist, the third one is cut by Fredz after evaluating the potential of all. Around 10 to 15 new songs are added to the playlist depending on the participation. Songs with the least points or becoming recurrent are dropped.
The deadline to submit your Rock chart is Friday 12:00PM (Noon).
Fredz will compile all the lists to do the GlobalRockChart and will publish a new playlist for the following week.
If you don't follow Rock that much, you can do a Top 8 or a Top 13 whatever, the bigger your chart, the more it will count in compiling the GlobalRockChart. However, charting 50 songs is the maximum.
Each week, an excel file will be attached to ease the process. You can download it, rank the songs and return it by email to: fredz_84@hotmail.com or copy and paste it in the forum thread.
I can also read your chart and extract the Rock songs for you.
