The breakthrough has finally come, as this week The Script finally hit number one. 'Before The Worst' ascends that final place to the top, in it's fifteenth week in the chart. So far it has not left the top ten, and has indeed hit every place in the top ten at least once. After barely missing the top with both 'The Man Who Can't Be Moved' and 'Breakeven,' they've done it this time.
This pushes The Killers back to two with 'A Dustland Fairytale.' That single has now notched thirty weeks in the chart, all within the top four, which is far ahead of the previous record. Positions 3-7 remain the same this week, but there is plenty of movement after that.
The Black Eyed Peas are finally back, jumping an impressive twelve places to land at eight this week with 'Meet Me Halfway.' It's their first time in the top ten since 'Pump It' back in 2006. Right behind them is the weeks biggest mover, Jay Sean, who jumps up fourteen places with 'Down' now giving him his first top ten hit. Also joining the top ten this week are 3Oh!3 and Katy Perry, with 'Starstrukk' up to ten. Other big moves come from Orianthi (27-17) Lady GaGa (31-18) Pink (26-21) Leighton Meester (34-27) and Taylor Swift (42-32.)
We have three debuts this week, none of them as big as last weeks were. The highest indeed only enters at 43, and it's from Aussie rockers Powderfinger. The lead single from 'Golden Rule' is 'All Of The Dreamers.' Right after that comes the next debut, and it's from an act who have been around a long time, but have only ever charted once before. It's Tegan & Sara, and they debut at 44 with 'Hell.' Their previous charting single was 'I Hear Noises' which peaked at 41, can they out-do that here? The final debut is from another act who has been around a long time, these guys have never charted before. It's Weezer, and they enter at 48 with '(If You're Wondering If I Want You To) I Want You To.'
Onto the ineligible chart, and The Script hold on to the number one place yet again, and also hold several other placements. Strong debuts come from Kate Bush, Alanis Morissette, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, James Morrison and The Lonely Island. The Killers, Faker and Good Charlotte again feature well.
