I thought his "Indiana" album was too polished, too pretty that I couldn't like it enough. But "Beating My Heart" is a good song, better than anything on his last album, so the new stuff looks promising

OK Now holds up to the expectation given by the grand first single "Beating My Heart". It's a quintessential pop record, carried by Jon's excellent voice. The interesting thing that I didn't expect is that there's a real throwback to pop music of the late 70's and early 80's here. "You Can Never Go Back" takes pages out of the Electric Light Orchestra's song book (listen for aural references to "Evil Woman" and "Livin' Thing") and "Dance Your Life Away" name checks (intentionally or not) a couple of pop hits of the 80's, all the while sounding like a cousin of several Rick Springfield songs. But kitsch aside, the CD rises above it all with simple pieces like "Always On My Mind" and "Things That You Say". All in all, well worth the purchase.

Have you ever thought about being a professional album reviewer...?

Have you ever thought about being a professional album reviewer...? Thanks In fact, back in the day, I did do free-lance record reviewing and got to interview a few celebs of the day for a national college radio magazine. Among other things, I was also a college radio DJ and wrote album reviews for my college paper....
