Since I haven't posted this chart here in so long (maybe not ever), I should explain a couple of things.
AC in this context DOES NOT stand for Adult Contemporary. Understand that immediately so you won't be tempted to ask.
This chart is put together in an inverse method using the Top 50 of the Billboard Hot 100 and R&R's CHR/Pop chart. So, my own influence has no bearing here.

SUBG now holds the record for most weeks on the chart - in November, it fell off the chart after logging its 47th week on. Fittingly, its last week was spent at the same position as its very first - #50. 43 weeks, however, is still more than any other song has ever spent on inside of one year.
This year's fight for #1 is sort of like the battle on the R&R chart in 1996, where I Love You Always Forever had the most weeks at #1, but came too late to stop a long-running Missing, which had started its chart life late the previous year. Same story here.
