11. Evanescence - Everybody's FoolPerfect by nature, icons of self indulgence..Peak: #4 Weeks On: 23 Some of you may be surprised, but this song is just absolutely brilliant. The story it tells has great relevance to the state of today's Music industry, not to mention that I've loved the song since I got the album and I still love it now. A true model of consistency. It's a shame it didn't do better at radio. Defiantely a shame it didn't do better on radio! Expect to see this tune in my chart as well.

Thanks very much for the comments Now, everybody knows that I'm a sucker for a great pop tune. This top 10 could not be more representative of that. So here we go. #10-6.. 10. MisTeeq - ScandalousI need some stimulation baby..Peak: #1[2] Weeks On: 18 One of the best things to come out of the UK in 2003, but made a surprisingly big impact domestically in 2004. Smooth and sultry rnb vocals combined with a wicked beat sent this one right into the US top 20. It was one of my favourite songs of the summer, and for good reason. 9. Britney Spears - My PrerogativeEverybody's talking, all this stuff about me..Peak: #1[7] Weeks On: 14..so far Britney's "return" to the music scene a la her Greatest Hits package was her best cover yet. A song that seemed destined to top the charts stalled in the mid 20's, but was a huge hit for me because a) it's Britney and b) it has a catchy beat and reminds me so much of some of Britney's best music off ITZ that was never released. 8. Hilary Duff - FlyAny moment, everything can change..Peak: #1[2] Weeks On: 20..so far Hilary's motivational lead single off her new album and Box office bomb "Raise Your Voice" was one of the most pleasant surprises of 2004. Hilary works best using this formula, a sincere message as a result of sincere and simple lyrics. This one has maintained itself and I still actually enjoy listening to it. Such an easy, comfortable, and enjoyable listen. 7. Kelly Clarkson - BreakawayI'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly..Peak: #1[2] Weeks On: 20 Kelly's surprise runaway #1 smash was one of the biggest hits chart-wise in 2004. I'm not complaining either; Kelly sounds wonderful on the track and gives a nice little story to go along with it. This is some of Kelly's best work since "Miss Independent". 6. Avril Lavigne - My Happy EndingIt's nice to know we had it all, thanks for watching as I fall..Peak: #1[4] Weeks On: 19 As soon as I heard UMS, I knew this was going to be Avril's biggest hit. Using the "I'm With You" formula and structure, this brought Avril to new height on multiple formats, and it's well deserved. Providing possibly the best chorus of 2004, and not to mention that great hook "he was everything, everything".. Avril just hit everything right here. Bonafied smash! Stay Tuned Tomorrow, #5-3.

not to mention that great hook "he was everything, everything" I think Avril sounds so great when she says "He was everything, everything that I wanted..." before lapsing into the chorus after the third verse. She sounds so vulnerable, so raw...I love it.

Here we go. The top 5 of 2004. Starting off with #5-3.. 5. Jessica Simpson - With YouWith nothing but a t-shirt on, I never felt so beautiful..Peak: #2[6] Weeks On: 25 Jessica Simpson's huge pop single was an absolutely wonderful tune that put her back in the spotlight accompanied by her new hit TV show Newlyweds. It was the little song that could, it just continued to grow and grow, all because of it's fantastic melody and chorus that got you hooked more and more each time. This is quite possibly Jessica's best single, and for that, she's #5. 4. Britney Spears - EverytimeWithout my wings, I feel so small..Peak: #1[6] Weeks On: 18 Britney's timeless and most successfull ballad which poses the question, is it about Justin or isn't it, was one of the most sincere and beautiful songs to grace the airwaves. What impresses me the most is that Britney has full writing credits on this one, and when she sings this one live, you can tell there is a difference. Beautiful, moving, and not to mention a thought provoking video. 3. Hilary Duff - Come CleanLet's go back, back to the beginning..Peak: #2 Weeks On: 25 This is possibly the one Hilary song that will stand out above the rest. No matter how much hatred you may have against this girl, this pop melody is perfect. Although her music credibility can be questioned, Hilary puts many of those doubts at ease with her best single to date. For Hilary finally raising the bar, she's #3. Tomorrow, #2-1. Don't miss out!

Here we go guys, the top 2 singles of 2004. 2. Ashlee Simpson - Pieces Of MeHow do you know everything I'm about to say? Am I that obvious..Peak: #1[5] Weeks On: 21 Ashlee Simpson surprises music and pop fans alike with her alarmingly catchy, brilliant, and summer fav pop classic "Pieces Of Me". Who could have ever thought that Jessica's little sister could propel herself to such fame that her sister could only dream of (ie. Ashlee's album went to #1). For surprising the hell out of me, producing the most drive along single of 2004, Ashlee fully deserves this #2 position.

No surprise at all, the #1 single of 2004 is... 1. Britney Spears - ToxicPeak: #1[10] Weeks On: 25 With a taste of your lips I'm on a ride, you're toxic I'm slipping under..I don't care who you are: A strictly rock fan, a girl who absolutely despises Britney because she's a hoe, a strict hip hopper, or just a skeptic, this electro-glam, bollywood sounding, in your face, (and to take from Dotmusic) f.uck-me-brilliant sexual romp through paradise is Britney's crowning achievement. Don't even try to deny that you didn't at least once found yourself humming the tune or partyin to it's crazy feel. When Britney gets critical praise, a mound of year end lists, and quite possibly her most successfull single of her career - you know she's got it even better in her fan's books. Not missing a single beat, Toxic propels above the levels of any pop single this year. She may have saved her career with this one and gained back all credibility, that she unfortunately lost when she married Kevin. But, all can be forgiven when Toxic pt. 2 is unleashed. Kudos Britney, for a job well done.

Superb yearend chart, Roger! "Toxic" is one of my favorite Britney tunes, and it definitely doesn't hurt that my all-time favorite artist, Cathy Dennis, cowrote it. I am thrilled with your love for Jessica Simpson's "With You." She also ended up in the top 5 of my own yearend chart. Here's hoping that 2005 brings us more great tunes to go on and on about!
